The staff were cheerful and helpful. The location is in a village handy for the A1 and there’s a coop within walking distance. The bar also serves food. The breakfast was simple but well done

Reviewed Aug 3, 2026Loved our room which was a very decent size. Loved the bathroom and shower. Great value for money. Good choices for breakfast. Parking not a problem. Staff were excellent. Lovely to have the option of drinks as well as a meal. Would definitely stay again. Perfect location when visiting family.
Couldn’t be helped as it’s an old property creaky floorboards. Black pudding at breakfast was not terribly nice. Maybe change supplier? Didn’t ruin our stay chose differently next morning.

If you get a room toward the back of the hotel then the smell from the kitchen lingers a little Desk fans or air conditioning in the rooms would be appreciated as the windows don’t allow for much ventilation especially on warm nights

Upgraded to a kingsize room. This room was over the road and traffic noise would have disturbed me. Staff changed my room to a twin at the back.

The room was nice, everything worked and car parking is free and available. For me it was a travel stop between Dover and north of Scotland, so being on the A1 was perfect. But I have to repeat - the staff were all so friendly and helpful.
It was all nice except, but perhaps it's a Yorkshire thing to have mini packets of Kellogg's cereals. I'd prefer fresh fruit, muesli and yoghurt. Coffee was a bit bland.

The meal portions were huge! Not a bad choice of things on the menu, although one little niggle, will record that on things we didn't like! The food was lovely! Breakfast had good choices. The car park was big.
Our friend asked for a salad, as it was so hot and she did not want a big meal. The waitress went to ask the chef and came back with a "No". We have never been anywhere where a chef does not know how to make a salad or does not wish to bother to make one to accommodate a guest request! There were salads listed with other things on the menu! So she left most of the dish she had ordered instead, a complete waste of money and time! We would suggest you rectify this asap.

Reviewed Jul 3, 2026We had a small but clean and comfortable room. Restaurant, bar and beer garden were large and nicely decorated. Plenty of food choice offerings for popular bar meals and very generous portions. Large car park was ideal but appeared to be used by non-customers.
Room, bed & TV were a little too small for our liking in our double room. Unfortunately, the quality & quantity of our Full English breakfast deteriorated on our second morning, & the portion sizes for the mushrooms, bacon & beans were very noticeably smaller for some reason.

Reviewed Jul 2, 2026Excellent stay at The Reubens for my nephews wedding nearby. On arrival the staff were so helpful and we checked in early which was fab as needed to get changed an on our way to the church. The room was clean, kitted out with everything you would expect and even had aircon which was an unexpected bonus on a hot day!! Breakfast was superb, tea/coffee/juice all set out ready at 8am, and a freshly cooked full english with us really quickly. Overall fab staff, would 100% recommend.

Reviewed May 30, 2026The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The breakfast timings were a bit tight - breakfast finished at 9.30 (Saturday). My son had the full English breakfast and said it was very good. I had cereal and toast - the choice for continental breakfast was a little limited (no yoghourt or fruit) but they may not get much demand for such things. The lady who served us at breakfast was very nice.
There was only one set of toiletries (shampoo, shower gel and moisturiser) in the bathroom but we managed with items that we had brought with us.
