Ceyloni Lake Residency

We waren heel erg onder de indruk van de service en verzorging door de hotel bediende. Ontzettend vriendelijk, gastvrij en behulpzaam. Hij verzorgt een fantastisch ontbijt, beide dagen. Hij kan vervoer voor je regelen naar het centrum, al is dat op de heenweg heel goed te lopen (paar minuten) via een shortcut. Op de terugweg is een Tuktuk fijn omdat het hotel ietsje hoger ligt, maar niet per se nodig. Het uitzicht vanuit de kamer naar het centrum van Kandy is mooi, je kijkt ook uit richting het meer. De kamers zijn niet luxe (daar is de prijs ook naar) maar wel keurig en schoon. Het voldoet helemaal.

Las vistas que tenía hacia el lago.

En primer lugar el personal poco amable, pagamos la estancia nada más llegar, y como no teníamos el dinero justo le dimos de más, nos comentó que iba a algún sitio cerca a por cambio, cuando volvimos a la noche, le preguntamos por el cambio, al principio se hicieron los locos, luego nos ofrecieron menos de lo que nos debían y aún así nos dijeron que ya si eso nos lo devolvían al día siguiente, al día siguiente nos íbamos y se lo volvimos a recordar una vez más, nos quería dar menos aún, finalmente tras tanto insistir nos lo devolvieron. Por otro lado les preguntamos por algún transporte para ir a Kandy al día siguiente, el precio que nos ofrecían por ir en tuk tuk era el mismo que nos costaba ir en coche privado, les dijimos que no, seguían muy insistentes, y riéndose de nosotros. Siguiendo, por todo lo que se escucha en la habitación, escuchas los coches, la gente de fuera, hasta cuando alguien de la habitación de al lado va al baño… La ducha no estaba limpia, la bomba del baño no funcionaba, el aire acondicionado hacía muchísimo ruido. Por no hablar del desayuno, que no estaba mal, pero le pedimos un yogur más ya que no nos gustaba parte de la fruta y nos dijeron que no nos lo daban. El precio que pagas es por las vistas, por el resto no lo recomendaría, ni volvería a repetir en esta estancia.

Wir mussten kurzfristig umbuchen. Vielleicht hat die Zeit nicht mehr gereicht, um unser Zimmer zu reinigen. Aber dieser Raum wirkte, als sei er seit Monaten nicht mehr gründlich geputzt worden. Ausserdem hat der Raum und wohl das ganze Gebäude eine Sanierung nötig. Es würde sich lohnen, das Hotel könnte eine Top-Adresse in Kandy sein.

Prabhat nos dio un trato de 10, le pedimos si se podía adelantar el desayuno 20 min para poder coger el tren de Kandy a Ella y fue súper amable y lo hizo por nosotros! La habitación muy cómoda, colchón y almohada de mucha calidad, sin duda merece la pena alojarse ahí

The location is perfect for walking into Kandy centre and around the lake. Couldn’t have had a better location. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Beds really comfy Breakfast was a mix of toast, butter and jam, french toast, freshly cooked omelette, yoghurt and fresh fruit. (Omelettes, yoghurt and fresh fruit was all great - toast is toast isn’t it!) Air conditioning and hot shower worked which is a revelation thus far in our trip!

Bathroom was smelly and damp, and mould everywhere. Needs a good dose of bleach leaving to soak on the walls and floor. Bedding needs an upgrade, with torn towels, sheets and stained pillows. Breakfast before 8am was not Sri Lankan as they buy it in, so didn’t get a Sri Lankan breakfast option as we started at 7.30each day Inner door between room and road needs a lock on it that only staff and residents can access. Disconcerting anyone can walk in off the street and access bedroom areas

We liked the location and it was also close to Kandy viewpoint. The beds were very comfortable and we slept well. The staff was friendly

We felt like we had been catfished. Just a warning the accommodation looks nothing like the pictures (not the rooms we stayed in anyway). Hats off to the photographer. The second bedroom smelt like sewage so my parents had to move rooms and general cleanliness was well below par. Some of the staff were a bit pushy. Pushing local tuktuks with them however it only encouraged us to leave the hotel and order and hail up the street. Just too intense.

The manager was amazing. His support was unwavering and he was friendly. Made the whole stay better. Me.Jayasinghe was always there to help and he is much appreciated. The staff was great. Breakfast was also really good and tasted great. Room was clean and relaxing. Good view as well.

The location was a short thought uphill walk from the centre. There was also a shortcut which the hotel manager was kind enough to let us know. The facilities were average. The bathroom of the room we stayed in could use a little more work. Addition of wall mounted organiser for keeping shower essentials would help. Over all the staff was good good property for short stay

Property is getting upgraded as it is under renovation when we visited. Breakfast was very good and we had good time as family.

Some of the nicest people we met during our trip to Sri Lanka work here. The hotel looks exactly like the pictures. The rooms might need a little bit of renovation, but they are clean and well maintained. The breakfast was outstanding.

Great location , easy walk to town , good size room , great breakfast , lovely friendly helpful staff . Mr Jaysingh (owner ) was a perfect host , and always willing to assist. Aided by Prabath , very friendly and helpful , plus Dean was a lovely guy , always willing to assist. Very good traditional dance show practically next door I’d definitely return there.

Monkeys can be a nuisance , so restricted the use of the balcony .

We did like anything there. The room conditions were not the same as they published on the booking.com website. The bathrooms were in terrible condition, dirty, and things were falling apart. The rooms were very smelly and not clean. Old and faded bed cover. If they refund my money back.

We booked this before travelling (2 months ago)It’s not clean at all. Black dust and new paint smell everywhere. The owner was pushing us to pay and trying to offer another rooms. It was our first night after 20 hour flight. So disappointed

It was a great experience to stay a night at Ceylon Lake Residencies. Mr Jayasinghe who guided us there treated us more than expected with super customer values. Breakfast and the room view was very nice. We like to recommend this place to all who seek the calm Sri Lankan culture and experience in their leisure time. Its worth than the expenditure. Thank you

The location near Arthur’s seat viewpoint was convenient. We also discovered Yaka lounge just one street up from the hotel, a great place for pizza and view of Kandy

There was a musty smell and overall the place needs a refresh. Having said that, there was clearly renovations and painting going on in several places so I guess they are addressing and upgrading.

Breakfast was nice.

The room we booked and saw in the booking was not really like the one we got. The rooms would need a lot of renovation and could be a lot cleaner. Also don’t really expect a lake view, lake is only visible behind the buildings from most of the rooms.

The breakfast was ok.

The building seemed to be undergoing some sort of building/maintenance work and there was materials and scaffolding all over the place. The room itself was located downstairs through a dark space and along a little corridor, which had a damp smell. The room didn’t resemble the photos online. It was very small for three and the door didn’t feel secure at all. Also, there was a window above the door through to the corridor outside, which felt a bit strange and also let the light in.

Room door lock handle is not fixed properly and also some of the bathroom equipments such as taps and shower are broken. Hot water is not working sometimes. Room and the bathroom are not so clean.

It makes no sense compared to the amount paid. We cannot control the temperature in a/c, it stays at the same value. There is hot water but it only lasts for a few minutes. Even though there is a restaurant, it does not provide the service. Although you can see the palace from the balcony, the lights on the balcony do not work. There was no electricity in the morning.

We had a cozy one-night stay at this property near Kandy city. The room was spacious enough for the three of us, which made it comfortable. The breakfast was excellent, and the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. It’s a good option for a trip if you’re looking for convenience and comfort.

The balcony view wasn’t as expected since it faced a building, perhaps other rooms have better views.

The photos were nothing like the real deal. The towels were threadbear and stained, we asked from replacement several times, until they finally replaced them, and they were exactly the same. The bathroom was very old and needed A LOT of maintance. There were no toiletries. The room had a lot of spider webs, you could tell it wasn't cleaned properly. I could keep going...

It was not the room that I saw on the picture, so that was a little disappointing. The staff was amazing though, his name is Prabhath, he was friendly arranged a good three wheeler transport to roam around Kandy (Jeevaka). We had a nice time in Kandy.The hot water heater was great as in some hotels they say they have heater but it doesn’t work. The view was also great.

I had lots of expectations with the room colour theme and and interior. It was not like what I saw on pictures.

We are a family of 8 ranging from 4yrs to 82yrs old, 6 of us visiting from the UK, 2 joining from South Africa. We booked 3 rooms (2 triples and a double) and all 3 were good. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable with good views of the lake. We stayed 2 nights and Pribad was attentive and friendly, always happy to help. Breakfast in the dining area was fantastic, large portions of tasty food, nothing was too much trouble, and we had great dinners at restaurants nearby (walking distance). We had an excellent stay and highly recommend this property

I had a pleasant stay at Ceyloni Lake Residency. The location is fantastic, with a direct view of Kandy Lake and the Temple of the Tooth (Dalada Maligawa). It's easy to access the city and shopping areas, just a short walk away, but the hotel is still peaceful, away from the city's hustle. It’s also only a few meters from the Kandy City View Point. The service was excellent, especially the manager who was friendly and very helpful. While the hotel offers all the necessary facilities, it does feel little bit dated and could benefit from some renovation to further improve its value. Overall, a great choice for a short stay in Kandy!

Staff were very accommodating. We wanted an Iron and they gave us one for the room. We had a welcome drink when we checked in. Breakfast was fitting to all with both Sri Lankan and English breakfast options available. View from the room was superb! We could see the Kandy temple and the Perahara at distance. At night it was a sight to be seen!

I think the facilities needs a bit of a redecoration and renewal. With just a bit of renovation this place can be a gem. We only styed for 1 night so it was not a big issue for us.
