Really nice place, room had a nice chill area included and there’s another shared area outside. Filtered water is a great inclusion and our host couldn’t do enough for us. Really friendly guy, extremely helpful

It is very well located! Just a short walk from the main strip of Arugam Bay so it’s nice and quiet but not far from the main area. Close to lots of shops and restaurants. The host is also so lovely and so friendly! Made us coffees when we were sitting outside and was always helpful in providing us with recommendations for beaches and food spots and for checking with drivers and laundry that is was legit. Highly recommend this location! Will definitely book again when visiting next!

The walls are slightly thin so we could hear the other guests moving about outside and in their rooms.

Prima verblijf op locatie vlakbij straat met restaurantjes ect en strand. Redelijk eenvoudig maar alles wat je nodig hebt en heel goed schoon. Vriendelijk personeel.

Gypcey Home is the perfect place to stay as a family. Close to the shops and beach but away from the partying scene overnight. Friendly and helpful hosts. Great value for money.

I think this was one of the best places I stayed in, it's hard to find a decent place in Arugam bay. It was a little bit more than my budget but the room is beautifully decorated and it is very clean. It was really nice to have my own space after travelling for so long.

The only thing I have to note is the government isn't providing any light outside at night just for safety being a female solo traveller. I met some friends who walked me back to the Gypcey home at night.

Amazing stay in walking distance to the centre, restaurants and surf rental spots! You should hire a scooter for an easier access to the main surf spot. The owner and staff are super helpful and accommodating- would definitely stay here again!

Great location just off the main street, good value for money, nice staff and nice that our room was 2 spaces for a bedroom and then additional space for luggage etc.

Shower was cold, but given the price and temperature of the area it didn't really matter

Alles was erg netjes en schoon. Erg lief personeel. Wij wilden graag surflessen nemen. De eigenaar hielp ons goed hiermee en we kregen leuke tips voor de omgeving.

Great place to stay in Arugam Bay, close to everything but far enough to be nice and quiet. The rooms are so comfortable and thoughtfully appointed, the A/C works well and is quiet, the garden is a lovely little oasis, the kitchen was really great to have especially for making smoothies, and the team is so helpful and easygoing. I really loved staying here, first for two nights and ultimately for a week. Highly recommended!

Tout était parfait! Le logement, la propreté, le personnel, on se sent bien dans cet endroit. Le petit déjeuner est excellent! Le personnel nous a beaucoup aidé pour la suite de notre itinéraire, merci pour tout.

Just three rooms each with a bedroom, bathroom and lounge area. The bedroom was comfy with good AC. Immediately outside the front door is a small stoop where you can sit overlooking the sandy path which is lined with a few plants. There is a shared outdoor kitchen (simple facility with kettle, fridge, gas ring) together with a seating area. Gypcey Home is located on an unmade dirt road around 5 minutes walk to the main Arugam Bay road and 15 mins to Baby Point surf area. We enjoyed the beaches and Arugam Bay town. We can recommend Mamas Restaurant.

Cold water only in the bathroom. It was a spacious double room but there were no windows in the bedroom which made it gloomy. The shared area was regularly used by the host and his friends making it slightly awkward to use. The fridge could do with a clean. We feel that the room rate was fairly expensive for what it is in comparison with other places.

Heerlijk ruime kamers, slaap - en woonkamer. goede airco in de slaapkamers. Goed bed. Goede douche handdoeken ! Lekker groot en zacht . En weden na 2 dagen gewisseld. Weer lief en attent personeel !

We misten een koelkastje op de kamer. En het water was altijd koud . Liever een beetje lauw / warm water gehad . En het is erg gehorig. Maar niet veel last van gehad met oordoppen.

We loved our stay at Gypcey home. We originally booked for 2 nights but ended up staying 5! The property was super clean, the rooms were lovely and spacious and it is in a prime location for accessing restaurants and the beach. Musa and his friends take great care of the property and its guests and helped us organise surf lessons, rides around town and were a great friendly face to have throughout our stay. Would recommend to anyone that they stay here in Arugam bay.

While the rooms are private, the courtyard is shared, as is the outside lounge and kitchen, so there is a lot of opportunity to meet your fellow travellers if you so wish. Not so much privacy, but with the beach walking distance away, and heaps of eateries and shops around the corner, you're not likely to be lounging off anyway. The decor is really charming and the courtyard pretty. Water is provided, and the use of the kitchen was a wonderful change from eating out all the time. Blender was our fav!

Our host often had his mates around in the shared space, smoking. There was also a 'smoko' chair around the back, which meant that the smoke came in through the extractor fan in the bathroom. Not a problem if you are also a smoker, so don't let that stop you from booking, as otherwise it is a really lovely place and great value for money.

Gypcey home is a cute little place. It has a few rooms that surround a nice courtyard and communal area which has a pleasant vibe. A quick walk from main street but also quietly tucked away enough to be quiet.

The pictures of the rooms themselves might make them look slightly bigger than they are. Would recommend this place as being more suited for a budget conscious couple or family looking for a an affordable option rather than a group traveling together (unless your preference is for a good price and don’t mind a more compact room). It would have been nice to have a few more towels and linen as there were no hand towels, bath mats or beach towels. The aircon we had was very effective at cooling the place which is really important in A Bay which can be extremely hot, but we could not adjust the temperature and it was stuck on 16 degrees the whole time (which was way better than having no aircon but also got a bit chilly at times and we didn’t have much in the way of blankets for sleeping).

We felt completely at home in this place! Everything was super clean and well taken care of. The breakfast was different every day, freshly prepared and always delicious – definitely a highlight of our stay. What really made it special were the lovely guys working there: incredibly kind, always friendly, helpful, and full of great tips for things to do, places to eat, and local info. They were always happy to chat and made us feel truly welcome. We’d come back anytime – highly recommended!

Clean room and wonderful staff. I had an injury and felt unwell during my trip, but Musa, one of the staff members, was always concerned about me. He arranged hospital visits and even prepared breakfast to suit my condition. I highly recommend this place.

No hot water shower

We love this place so much. This was our second time staying here. We had stayed last year and we were delighted there was availability for our dates this year. The room is great. Clean and spacious, and cool (much needed in Arugam Bay). The place is a short walking distance from the main street but is just far enough away from the bustle and noise, and remains quiet and peaceful (rare in Arugam Bay!). The caretaker Musa is a true gem. I love the communal kitchen area. We really feel at home here and will always choose Gypcey when visiting Arugam Bay. Thanks again to the Gypcey team! Book as far as you can in advance here because there are only a few rooms and it gets booked up quickly - as it should.

Very spacious and clean rooms, perfect Location near Cafés/ Restaurants and the Beach. Special thanks to Musa, he supported us and made every wish come true for us :). We will come back one day!

Clean, spacious and calm, pleasant place, near the main road where you can find restaurants. Musa is a great host, he has advice on places to eat and visit. We appreciate his help when we needed to rent a scooter.

The location of Gypcey Home is nice in a quiet area and the shared space is super cozy. The rooms are basic, but a super good value for money! Musa prepared us a nice breakfast in de mornings.

The rooms would improve instantly with a bit more decoration to make it more cozy, as the shared area already is!

I had an amazing stay! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The apartment was absolutely beautiful, with thoughtful details throughout and spotless cleanliness. The location is perfect, making it easy to explore the area. I would highly recommend staying here!

Clean and comfortable - it felt like our home for the week. Perfect location - 4 min walk to the heart of downtown yet just far enough away for much needed peace and quiet. Great staff and owner - helpful, responsive, relaxed, kind, professional.
