Very clean and all looked like new, well maintained. In the middle of a beautiful frozen forest. We had so much fun with the snow shoes, skis and slays provided by them. Great finish sauna facility with possibility to go inside a tank with almost frozen water. Also traditional finish space to grill sausages. Such a great experience.

No water pipes. A large water container is provided to the room though. It was not a big issue for us. We no supermarket or restaurant very close, so we had to buy everything we needed before going to the accommodation. Again, it was not a problem as we had all planned. 😊

What an amazing place! Every little detail has been thought of and the cabins are clean and incredibly cozy. There are many places to explore on the property, my favourite was a kota on a hill overlooking the beautiful forest. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique and authentic experience!

The cabin itself and everything built around it were wonderful. Nice and cozy with the fire burning, and the sauna and hero bath are amazing. Everything you need for a quiet little nature escape. And the host, Ritta-Liisa, makes the entire experience even more special. A memory to treasure.

We had a truly wonderful stay at Eco Unela. From the very first moment we arrived we felt warmly welcomed and completely at home. Riitta Liisa is such a kind, positive and heartfelt person and you can truly feel how much love and care she has put into creating this special place. The cabin was cozy and peaceful and surrounded by beautiful nature. Waking up to the birds right outside our window felt magical. There is a very special atmosphere here. You can truly feel the calmness, the connection to nature and the magic of Lapland. One of our absolute highlights was the traditional Finnish sauna. It was such a special and beautiful experience. There are time slots where you can sign up for the sauna which worked perfectly for everyone. On our last evening Riitta Liisa even kindly gave us an extra hour which we appreciated so much. Experiencing the traditional way of washing in the sauna felt very authentic and almost like stepping back in time. It was a truly memorable experience. We also loved that we could borrow snowshoes, skis and sleds for free which made exploring the snowy forest even more special. The two fireplaces were wonderful as well especially the one in the middle of nature. It is a perfect place to sit, enjoy the silence and look up at the northern sky while hoping to see the northern lights. Eco Unela is a truly unique and peaceful place. Riitta-Liisa is an exceptionally warm and welcoming host, and it is genuinely impressive to realise that she has built and created this entire place herself. Every corner is full of thoughtful details: small signs, lights, decorations — all the little things you start noticing almost immediately and that together create a very special, cozy atmosphere. Everything feels intentional, beautiful, and cared for. I stayed here for two days, and it quickly became clear that this place deserves more time. The surrounding forest is absolutely stunning — simply walking through it already feels like an experience. I highly recommend making a fire at the spot further away on the slope: the view opening onto the forest horizon is breathtaking and unforgettable. Being so far from everything else brings a deep sense of peace and calm. You truly disconnect and slow down. At the same time, you can’t help but feel immense respect for Riitta, who takes care of everything herself on a daily basis — clearing snow, maintaining the place, constantly improving and fixing things. It’s inspiring to see how much dedication, strength, and love she puts into this place.

The only thing I would suggest improving is having a proper toilet with sewage. Everything else is easy to adapt to, but a more comfortable toilet would make the experience much better. Just a note for those travelling by public transport: buses can be unreliable and don’t always stop as expected, so it’s best not to rely on them fully if you have a tight schedule.

The property was very well designed, amazing ambience. Traditional sauna and fireplaces really contributed to the authenticity of the place.

It was a wonderful stay, Riitta was always helpful and friendly. The sauna was a fantastic experience surrounded by nature. It's in a great location where we could observe the Northern Lights, nestled in the forest, and all the necessary kitchen equipment and facilities are available.We couldn't get enough, we'll be back again.

The ground was a bit cold, but that's quite normal for -30 degrees.

A wonderful experience in a Winter wonderland of being at one with the rythms of nature as well as a taste of traditional small village life in Lapland. The surrounds were covered in deep snow with a number of walking tracks leading to a high point where photos of the views could be taken. With limited artificial light the stars in the night sky could be seen, enhanced by the strange reflection of light from the snow when dark. The snug cabin provided a cosy, warm retreat from the outside and combined with a sauna, induced deep sleep. Equipment for snow activities was available to use. The settlement was close to other winter activities that could be easily reached by bus.or car. Hats off to Rita for her vision and endeavour in providing such a unique and worthwhile experience!

There wasn't anything we didn't like as we adjusted to what was there. A shift in mindset was needed to make the most of an experience close to what could be imagined as authentic.

I love everything! Riita is so helpful and i like the location a lot. You can have a sense of enjoying nature but still close to the city, Rovaniemi. The place is accessible by bus, you just need to pay attention to the schedule but the host will help you with all the info. Oh the plus is you can see the northern lights directly. I saw it once when Riita knocked on my door just to inform me that the aurora was coming.

静かな自然の中でゆったりとした時間を過ごすことが出来ました。コテージも想像以上に物が揃っていて何も困ることが無かったです。サウナも良かったです。スノーシューズなども自由に使用できるので、雪深い森の中の散策やそり遊びも楽しめました！暖炉の火の調整も奥深く、普段はできない経験を味わえました。オーナーのRittaさんのサポートも素晴らしかったです。

公共のバスを使用しましたが、帰りのバスが止まってくれなかったので焦りました。頻繁に起こることなのかわかりませんが、最寄りの確実にバスが止まる停留所を利用した方がいいのかも知れません。

주인분이 너무 친절하십니다. 차가 없는데 시내에서 버스 타고 오는 방법을 친절히 설명해주셨고, 숙소 내에서 즐길거리도 많았습니다. 핀란드 전통 액티비티와 사우나를 하고, 같은 밤에 묵은 분들과 캠프파이어를 하며 오로라도 보는 잊지 못할 경험이었습니다!! 오로라 헌팅 프로그램 가는 것보다 여기서 오로라 기다려보시는 것 추천합니다!

화장실이 밖에 있고, 직접 불을 피워 숙소 내부를 따뜻하게 해야 합니다. 캠핑 자주 해보신 분들이면 잘 적응할 수 있을 것 같아요!

Es gab kein Strom und kein fließendes Wasser : es ist bei der Beschreibung auf Booking.com nirgendwo geschrieben. Man muss sich das Badzimmer teilen und es gibt keine Dusche sondern nur Fässer mit kaltem und warmen Wasser... Für EUR 50 pro Nacht wäre es verständlich aber nicht für EUR 155... Die Kunden von Booking.com müssen mehr Info erhalten.

El alojamiento es muy acojedor. Tienes tu pequeña cabaña, con tu baño de compost. Luego una sauna que es una maravilla, otra con agua helada para darte un Schock de frio al estilo finlandés! Y otra cabaña donde poder hacer un fuego y hacer una barbacoa. Ademas tienes equipo de nieve para esquiar o raquetas para caminar. La anfitriona Rita es super amable y atenta! Ella hace además que el sitio sea especial! Sin duda, repetiría!

TOUT ! Tout est magnifique, propre, bien pensé. On a eu une "yourt"magnifique, bien chaude décorée avec goût et soin. Le lit est très confortable. Riitta-Liisa est une super hôte. On est vraiment perdu dans la nature mais aucun problème de réseau. Le matériel mis à disposition tout était parfait.

Fue una experiencia única, en un lugar mágico. La cabaña estaba en medio de la montaña cerca del resto de instalaciones. La sauna estaba incluida en la reserva y fue una grata sorpresa. Tiene una zona común para hacer barbacoa con todo el equipamiento. Dispone de raquetas, trineos y esquís a disposición de los huéspedes. Rita siempre está pendiente de todo. Repetiríamos sin lugar a duda.

Een zeer aangename gastvrouw en alles was perfect verzorgd en netjes onderhouden. De typische Finse sfeer was duidelijk aanwezig, met een heerlijke sauna en een prachtige omgeving als kers op de taart. Een heerlijk en ontspannend verblijf – absoluut een aanrader!

Ihana, tunnelmallinen paikka. Sisustus oli kodikas, sauna tunnelmallinen, luonto ympärillä kaunis ja majoittaja avulias ja mukava. Oli kiva kun suksia ja lumikenkiä sai lainata ilman erillistä maksua. Olisimme halunneet olla pidempään, paikka oli niin ihana !

Everything was just amazing! If you enjoy spending some time away from resorts and the city rush, if you like the silence and beauty of nature, this is the place for you! Quite place with traditional Finnish bath and sauna (Amazing!). I had the cabin that was located 2-3min walking in the woods, separated from the main buildings, making your own heating with firewood, relaxing at candle light, watching the aurora borealis from complete darkness (depending on the weather, I was lucky and had clear night sky), it was just amazing!! I forgot to mention the host! A very nice person, very helpful, I appreciate everything, starting with the messages before arriving, pre heating the cabin, all the info about the area and the busses at leaving, there would be so much more to say.. Thank you for the experience, I hope next year I can visit again!

Everything! The cabin was an absolute dream—nestled deep in the peaceful Finnish forest, far away from everything, yet still only 40 minutes from Rovaniemi. The whole place is designed to be in perfect harmony with nature: the cabins are built with sustainable materials, decorated with impeccable taste, and fully equipped while maintaining that cozy, minimalistic charm. We were surrounded by pure silence, snow-covered trees, and magical light. It felt like we had the whole forest to ourselves. Everything was incredibly clean, well-maintained, and filled with small thoughtful details that made us feel at home. The perfect place to disconnect, reconnect with nature, and just breathe.

Honestly, nothing. Maybe that we didn’t stay longer! It’s the kind of place you leave already planning your return.

I had a very special and beautiful time at this place. You feel the love of what Riitta-Liisa is doing in every corner. She is a very kind person and made me feel mostly welcome. If you want to get in touch with nature and would like to recharge in a calm place I definitely recommend staying here! I had so much fun at the sledding hill, relaxed in the sauna and revived in the ice bath. Also the snowshoeing at the lake was absolutely amazing!

It was very authentic,very traditional and felt like very cozy and home. In the middle of nature with a sauna! And the host she is amazing and so welcoming. We highly recommend this place for the real lappland experience

This small eco-resort is 40mins drive from Rovaniemi but feels like another world. The surrounding area is great for exploring and there are several small huts where you can make a fire and shelter from any rain or snow. Riita-Liisa is so nice and helpful and works really hard for her guests. The Finnish Sauna is awesome!

Facilities are basic but that is half the charm. Also. Despite being off a main road the entrance is east to kiss (took me 3 attempts!).

What a great "back-to-basics" experience we've had at Eco Unela. The forest cabin was exactly as described and well-equipped to keep us comfortable. Riitta's hospitality, outdoor BBQ facilities, Finnish sauna and the beautiful environment overall made this stay exceed our expectations. Hope to come back one day

Amazing experience, Riita created this fantastic world into the wild and gave the opportunity to people to enjoy it. It's a very good opportunity to explore yourself and practice mindfulness. There are huts in the forrest where to make fire on your own, there is a finnish sauna, rooms are so cozy. You feel very welcome from the arrival to the departure. Definetely adviced.

Very friendly and responsive host. The houses are very cozy and provide a more "detached" Finnish experience that we were looking for. To top it off it has a great view for northern lights.

We loved our stay. Riita was very friendly and accommodating. It was a chilly night when we stayed but thick blankets and the fire kept our bed toasty. Using the snow shoes was a magical experience and we were thankful to have access to them as well as skis and sleds. The sauna and plunge pool were both an amazing Finnish experience. We would have loved to stay longer and would recommend 2 or more nights here.

Easier to access with a vehicle, however the bus transport was reliable - and of course this does not reflect on the property itself.

The owner Riita is very nice and helpful. Unfortunaetly we only stayed one night. Highlight is definaetly the finish sauna in combination with the ice bath (1°C spring water). Don't think too long, just do it :). There is definaetly more to do, just ask Riita.

Rita is so so accomodating and so friendly. I was so appreciative that she came and knocked on my door to let me know the northern lights were out! The facilities are amazing too - the sauna, ice bath, fireplace etc. The cabin itself is so cozy and cute.

The location is quite remote - only one bus there a day (on weekdays) and none on weekends, so it’s all about solitude whilst you’re there, there’s no leaving unless you’ve got a car

Absolutely beautiful property! Sauna was incredible…do not pass it up if you stay. We opted for the rustic cabin which got fairly chilly in the winter, but the wood stove worked great and heated the space up quickly. Everything was thought of and we loved the stay.

A wonderful experience in the winter-wonderland forrests of Finland.

Oh, what a great experience!!!! This place is amazing! Riita-Liisa, the host, is a kind and capable woman with a warm heart. She cares about her guests and she does her best to give to them a unique experience during their stay. I stayed in the place for 3 nights and I wish I had booked many more! I really felt warm welcomed! I'm deeply grateful for this experience! The facilities are friendly to mother nature and this gives you the opportunity to feel more grounded and in peace in mind, body and soul. Finnish wood burning sauna, wood burning stove at each cabin and all these details in the cabin and around, makes this place really special! The location is also great. In the Lapland's woods, and at night there is no light pollution inthearea, makes it a perfect spot for star gazing and aurora views (if she shows up!). So if you're a nature lover and you want to feel peaceful and clean your mind and body, this place is a great great choice for you. Worth to mention that the place is accessible by bus. 2-3 buses/day to/from Rovaniemi city centre/Santa's Village/Rovaniemi Airport. I travelled there as a solo traveller, with no car and used the bus to get there and go back to Rovaniemi. Much highly recommended!

Our stay at this cozy cabin in the heart of Lapland's snowy forest was absolutely magical! After a day spent exploring in the cold, it was pure bliss to relax in the warm, inviting atmosphere while enjoying the breathtaking winter views through the window. We also want to give a special shoutout to our incredible host. Her kindness, helpfulness, and warm hospitality truly made our experience unforgettable. She went above and beyond to assist us in so many ways, and we felt genuinely welcomed from the moment we arrived. This was a trip we’ll cherish for a long time, and we can’t wait to return. Such a wonderful experience! Cold plunge, sauna and the fire to cook dinner on were highlights! Everything has been set up so thoughtfully (the host even put hay outside our window in the hopes the Reindeer might visit!). The location was far enough out to feel in the wilderness but still accessible. We took the bus from Rovaniemi (just need to time it right) and decided to get an Uber when we checked out, super easy!

I was amazing. Riitta already prepared everthing befor I arrived and if you wanna have the real finnish experiance you are excatly right there! Classic finnish sauna, your cabin heated by your own with wood and if you need something else Riitta is there ! You can use snowshoes and go walking in the forest. Enjoy the calmness and make your food in a cozy fireplace if you want. By car you drive only about 30min from santa clouse village up north ! And Riitta is soo friendly and makes you feel home 🫶🏻

The property was very cozy, and clearly well looked after by the owner. The owner was exceptionally nice, always greeting us with a smile on her face and trying to help our stay be the best possible. For value of money, this far exceeded our expectations and couldn’t really ask for more. There was electricity, which helped the heating make us not feel cold at all. Overall, this is an excellent place to stay if you are looking to come here.

I have no real words to describe this experience in Lapland, only enriched by the accommodation we chose. Riitta is a very kind and excellent host, that always looks after the guest needs. The location is great, lost in the wilderness of the forest, adds a great charm to the already spectacular sight. Eco-Unella is easily accessible by car from Rovaniemi and Rovaniemi airport. The place enables you to be in the finish forest, away from the city to observe auroras by the window if you like. Riita-Liisa is the perfect host, always available to help you if needed. The cabins are amazing, super well-designed and decorated. The sauna is incredible. A perfect stay at Eco-Unella for us, thank you again so much Riita-Liisa for the place you have created !

Beste trip in our life! It was amazing

The kindness of the hostess above all, the wild surroundings, the traditional sauna (with cold bath!), the simple yet cozy cabin, the fact that you can borrow snowshoes and skis, and the night sky views! We stayed one night and would have happily extended it if we had had the flexibility!

Everything was great! It might not be for everyone as the forest cabin is relatively austere (e.g. no electricity), and the dry toilet on the exterior. However, if you know where you're getting into (as we did), that's part of the charm, so nothing to complain about.

We really liked the entire place, it is very charming. The sauna is honestly the best we have seen during our trip, you cannot miss it. Also, there is a hole of water called « the path of the heros » where you can jump after the sauna if you dare 😁. Also the host is very kind, and the snowshoes are high quality. The last thing to mention is the value for money, which is outstanding !

There is only one thing. The hut only contains the bare minimum to cook, and it is especially very hard to wash the dishes. However, the kitchen of the owner is opened between 8h00 and 21h30. Therefore, I strongly recommend then to cook there if you have to cook something, as her kitchen is well equipped :)

It was amazing ! The welcome was incredible, and everything is done to make you feel good there. On top of everything, you have a great view from the room.

An absolutely unbelievable magical Finnish experience! Riitta-Liisa was the perfect host. The cabin was beautiful and clean, with everything we could have needed, including a memory foam bed. The sauna and hot tub were beyond our wildest dreams, the attention to detail in the sauna was ridiculous with multiple choices of shampoo and body wash as well as a choice of drinks in the entrance. Riitta-Liisa always ensured the sauna was on for us whenever we desired. The hot tub was incredible, Riitta-Liisa ensured it was the perfect temperature. It’s a must do when staying here! The best part about the stay was the unlimited access to skis and snow shoes (which she personally adjusted to fit our shoes) on her private forest trails, including a tobaggan hill and lunch fire hut. Riitta-Liisa is an incredible and kind host, with great attention to detail. She helped us start the fire pit, knocked on our door to alert us to the northern lights, and she gifted us home made cake and roses as it was my birthday when staying there. I cannot recommend this stay and this host enough and will definitely be returning!

Eco Unela is the most beautiful and charming place that I have seen after traveling for different continents. Riita the owner is pure magic as the place. Every single thing is made with “ love and soul “. You breath the mist natural and fresh air possible and with connection with nature is just amazing. The cabin is simple but it has all you need. There’s no electricity or running water inside but you don’t need it. Instead you have the fire, candles and flashlights. We loved the trekking in the forest using the snow shoes we borrow from Riita, the ski was very fun and the sauna is the best In the world. Riita shared some time with us and we really enjoyed the friendship we created. This entire experience meant a lot to us. Don’t hesite to stay in this place, it can be different but 100% worthy.

I loved everything

I was surprised with my wife, how amazing accommodation was that. The host - Riitta was very kindful and helpful. The cabin was ready for us perfectly. She taked care about us. She prepared sauna, which is totally traditional, not electric, but wood heated, wonderful experience. Everything from eco materials, wood everywhere you can look. Unfortunately we could be there only one night, I hope we visit the camp again, we want that certainly, maybe also in the summer. Also you can borrow ski or snowshoes or you can use a typical Finnish Kota. Our dinner in Kota was also wonderful and authentic moment in our lives. We hold our fingers Riitta in her bussiness and we wish a lot of clients. Thank you for everything !

The property is like a village, its has got a few cottages, one of them is where the owner stays, the rest may by mini cottages for guest, there is cottage which is a fire place, a sauna, a Christmas house … overall a very cozy place.

The room given to us was really small, there is no bathroom and no kitchen. If you need to tKe shower, you need to use the one where the owner stays, and its about 30m away. It may not sounds far for a good day, but in winter when cold can be extreme, can be a pain. There is a eco-toilet outsidr our cottage, but if temperature is -15DegC, you probably dont want to use it, way too cold.

If you are looking for the great outdoors, peace & quiet I cannot recommend this place enough. An absolute GEM in Rovaniemi. Away from all the commercial touristic usuals. Elämysmajoitus Eco-Unela embraces the true Finnish outdoors. Traditional Sauna, Heroes bath (for the brave), and just beautiful nature. Also a great location if you want to catch the northern lights around a campfire.
