Host Amed was welcoming and ready to help. It was nice trading stories in during dinner time. The room I stayed in for a night is in an annex within the host's extended family compound, so I got to see a few of the farms/fields they kept. It is simply furnished as expected and had a good hot shower. The homestay is a few minutes walk away from the main road, so very peaceful and no noise from traffic. Amed also helped arrange transport for an early morning commute to the airport. Would totally consider staying again because I missed out on the homestay's workshops!
I opened a window slightly and smelt neighbours' burning trash in the night/early morning, so it might be better to close it while sleeping.
I liked everything about the property
Nothing
Beautiful, tranquil, and relaxing location in the shadow of Mt Rinjani
Nothing!
Rien, c’était parfait.
The best thing about this experience has a name and it calls Ahmed, the owner. He is the nicest guy on earth! He will make sure you’ll have the best experience on Senaru. We did not make any activities with him because it is not our guy to travel, but for sure they are amazing. If you want to have a real Indonesian experience and know the real Tetebatu you should go there. Thank you Ahmed for everything! See you soon brother!
The owner of the homestay is a lovely person.
Tour was 100% worth it. Food was better than anywhere else on the island in my opinion, and the stay was very flexible and accommodating to your personal needs. I only stayed one night and wish I had done 3.
This is a wonderful homestay to get an experience of traditional village life. The rooms are gorgeous and have all the amenities, with stunning views over the rice fields. We had our breakfasts and dinners here and it was delicious. We tried most of the menu! Definitely recommend doing the waterfalls, rice fields, monkey Forest village tour with Ahmed.
Nothing
lovely staff, Amed is amazing. we did the hiking with him, he rented motorcycle to us also. amazing food, good prices and very tasteful. amazing family, support them!
noisy as all the homestays in lombok, but you get used maybe hehe

We had such a beautiful stay here! The little house where we stayed had an amazing view over the rice fields and the whole place was super peaceful and relaxing. The coffee, omelette and fresh fruit for breakfast were delicious, and the food from the menu was really good too. The owner was incredibly kind and always available to help with anything, we truly felt welcomed and at home. We also did the waterfall tour and it was an amazing experience! The guide was very friendly, fun and knowledgeable. Highly recommended 😊
On s’y sentait vraiment apaisé.
Merci Amed.
Brilliant location with exceptional views of rice fields. Amed the host is a very good host and was super hospitable and helpful. Breakfast included fruit and pancakes. Amed looked after my bags whilst I went up Rinjani, and even drove me to my next location. Please come to this homestay it is phenomenal.
It’s too cheap
I loved the quiet area and the amazing nature. The room was clean and with the basic needs. Amed is such an amazing host giving us the best food and showing us the beautiful area. The tour is 100% worth it.
I had a wonderful stay at this homestay. Amet was great and incredibly helpful throughout, always responsive and willing to assist with anything I needed. The place was comfortable, well-kept, and felt welcoming from the moment I arrived. I’d happily recommend this homestay to anyone looking for a pleasant and stress-free stay.
Nice owner smiley and chatty
Overpriced food. Towel provided had poo on it.
Ahmed and his family are great people. I recommend going on the trekking tour through the rice fields to the waterfalls and the monkey forest with Ahmed or his nephew Andika. This is the best way to explore Tetebatu.
We stayed three nights at Syaqila Homestay and had an amazing experience. Amed and his family were incredibly kind and hospitable, always making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. From arranging scooters to organizing drivers for us, they truly went above and beyond to help with every detail. Their warmth and care made us feel at home from the very first moment until the last. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay in Tetebatu – absolutely fantastic!
Great experience in Tetebatu. Amet and his whole family are so welcoming and friendly. The food was so nice and fresh, and the wooden hut in the middle of the rice fields was so special. Would definetely repeat!
Nothing
Wonderful stay with Amed and the family, very well located, delicious food cooked by Amed’s wife in the kitchen, ate there every day. Amed made our stay wonderful, supporting and helping in any possible way. Highly recommended, great VFM.
All good
I stayed in the bungalow in the middle of the rice fields. Such a beautiful location. The free breakfast was amazing with a fruit salad with fruit from Amed’s own garden (the passion fruit is amazing especially). And Amed treats you like your family and offers really nice tours around the rice fields, monkey forest, waterfalls, and the local villages and more. If you want to support a local in growing his own Homestay business please book this place!
Nothing :)
Both rooms are very clean and beautifully decorated. I felt very comfortable. Amet and his family are very kind and helpful. I went on tours with Amet, which were wonderful, and I was able to take a cooking class with his sister. I felt very integrated into the family.

We had a lovely stay with Amed and his family. Amazing house in the ricefields. Be sure to try their amazing food and go with Amed on his tours. Terima kasih!
Beautiful wooden hut in nature. Comfortable room, good bathroom and shower, good location. Wonderful owners who were so helpful and friendly, did the walking tour through them which was a great day. Also very cute puppy.

Really fantastic homestay. Amed is an amazing host that will make everything to make you feel comfortable. He gave me an unforgettable experience, welcoming me for a family celebration and involving me in the preparation (cooking, chatting and sharing with everyone there). I asked him if he could show me local traditions, and he went above and beyond all my expectations. The room is also very nice with everything you need to have a pleasant stay. Highly recommend if you want to experience the true Lombok!
Amed and his entire family were the kindest and most welcoming people ever. The homestay is beautiful, the room was perfect. The tours with Amed are amazing, I highly recommend them ! Thank you again for everything :)
Staying at this homestay was an unforgettable experience. It’s not just a place to sleep — it’s a true homestay in every sense of the word. From the moment I arrived, I felt like I was welcomed into a family. You live on a shared piece of land with different family members around, and the warmth and authenticity of the interactions make it feel like home. The owners are incredibly attentive, always present when needed but never intrusive. Their care and hospitality strike the perfect balance. There are also a variety of thoughtfully curated tours offered by the host, and I highly recommend taking part in them — they add so much value to the stay. And finally, the food — absolutely outstanding. Every meal was delicious, fresh, and prepared with so much heart. This place is a gem, and I wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic, welcoming, and enriching travel experience.
Nothing
I really enjoyed staying at Syaqila Homestay - it's located near to rice padi fields (I stayed in an apartment in the main building but there is also an option to stay in a cabin with bathroom in the padi field). My host Amet was wonderful and did everything in his power to make my stay enjoyable. We did a motorbike tour to waterfalls, sarong weavers, bamboo weavers, a spice farm and pottery - and none of it felt over touristy but was in fact interesting. The next day we visited Monkey Forest - well worth it for the ebony leaf monkeys (if lucky you're spot an orange baby!). Amet introduced me to a free/donation yoga/meditation place there also. We also visited the local market and bought some favourite local foods like ferns (and later durian). Amet and his wife cooked these perfectly. The food was abesolutely delicious! And the free breakfast comes with a generous portion of fruit - including passionfruit grown on the upstairs veranda where you eat and can enjoy resting in a hammock. Amet also encouraged me to climb Sangkareang which turned out to be the highlight of my trip to Lombok.
Everything was nice. Location in the middle of ricefields, beautiful view and nice place to rest. The family is very kind and helpful. Thank you for hosting us. 🙏
It was a great experience for me to be at the place. Ahmet loves showing you different places in his city. I was able to make my coconut oil and coffee in a traditional way. I saw the waterfalls and the traditional market as well. The landscape is magical, and it’s a peaceful place if you just want to relax.
Very Comfortable. Peaceful location not too far from town. Friendly and very accommodating host family. Delicious food.
Our stay at Syaqila homestay was perfect! The room is spotless and comfortable. Its so quiet and peaceful. There is a beautiful terrace above the room which has a hammock overlooking the beautiful ricefields. Ahmed and his family go out of their way to make you feel comfortable, happy and welcome. There is unlimited supply of tea and his home made coffee and it is delicious. The included breakfast was great and he also has a full menu to pick from for lunch and dinner for just a small fee. His cooking is so nice. He also offers to take you to see the rice fields, waterfalls and monkeys for a very reasonable price if you like. Ahmed and his family are just genuine people who want to make your time in Tetebatu perfect and unforgettable. He can also help with transfers to other towns and also offers cooking classes for a small fee. For the price, you really can't go wrong with what this place to offer.
The host’s walking tour and cooking class was great!
The mosque noise was unbearable! (Not hosts fault but beware)
We recently had the pleasure of staying at Ahmed's Homestay in Tetebatu, and it was truly an unforgettable experience! From the moment we arrived, Ahmed and his lovely family made us feel incredibly welcome. His warm and friendly personality instantly put us at ease, and he went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. One of the highlights of our visit was Ahmed's incredible cooking. Every meal he prepared was delicious, showcasing the rich flavors of the local cuisine and the view from the dining room is stunning, overlooking palm trees and rice fields. What truly sets this homestay apart is Ahmed's genuine care for his guests. He was always checking in to make sure we were comfortable and happy. He took us around local villages to see crafts and the local market. If you're looking for an authentic, warm, and welcoming experience in Tetebatu, I highly recommend staying at Ahmed's Homestay. You'll not only enjoy a comfortable stay but also leave with fond memories of Ahmed's hospitality and kindness. It felt like family, we will definitely come back if we have the chance to.
Nothing
The host, Amet, and his family treated us like family from the moment we arrived. They fulfilled all our needs from serving us homemade meals to special requests to all around making sure we felt cared for. I believe there is only one room, so special attention is given. Breakfast is served with a nice view and there are options to choose from. Amet processes his own coffee blended with vanilla. He offers various tours/activities like, but we didn’t partake since we had our own scooter and were able to explore on our own. It’s a good option for those who like to be guided and taken around. He can also assist with planning Rinjani treks. I also made some nice memories with Amet’s daughter and nieces playing on the hammock. Overall our stay was very wholesome! Thank you for everything :-)
The weather was a bit chilly and moist, and the bathroom stays quite wet. This is probably pretty common in Tetebatu. Mosque prayers can be heard multiple times a day. Also common in Tetebatu.
The homestay is in a very green area, surrounded by ricefields and palm trees. Amet and his family are very nice and take good care of you. Breakfast is really good and their homemade coffee with cacaobeans and vanilla is a must try! If you are looking for a relaxing place with a cozy atmosphere, go here!
Everything was amazing, the price is very low and the accomodation is really good!
I really enjoyed my time in Shaqila Homestay, location Is great, the room and the rooftop were amazing! I strongly suggest to spend some days here, the owner Amed Is very passionate about his job, he always makes sure that everything Is fine and loves to share Sasak culture. Was a real pleasure spend time with him and his family, they made our stay a unique experience! Especially for the food, I had my best meal of the whole holiday in Shaqila Homestay, super cheap and super tasty! Make sure try vegetable curry and sate pursut! I'm looking foreward to come back here!
The host was very friendly, he cooks really well and is keen to show you around the village he grew up in. The room is clean and spacious. The location is incredible. The view over the rice fields from the restaurant is really nice, an oasis of rest.
Sometimes the water was not on but quickly fixed
Choosing a place to stay in Tetebatu can feel quite a bit overwhelming given all the options, but gosh we were glad we slept at Amet's place! We were received with hot coffee, tea, sweet rice pudding and sweet potato crisps by Amet's friendly wife, and while she prepared our room (we had booked it only an hour before and surprised the family a bit, sorry about that!), we could enjoy the absolutely beautiful view from the terrace. Swinging in a hammock, you can see rice paddies and coconut trees in the South, and Mt. Rinjani in the North. In the evening, Amet served us the best food we've had in Indonesia so far - you MUST try the Olah Olah! After previous experience in other hotels and homestays, Amet opened the doors to his homestay only some weeks ago, so our room was brand new, clean and cozy. The bed was very comfortable, and the night we spent was very quiet. Breakfast is good, and Amet takes his time to chat with his guests, so we sat on that veranda (did we say it has a beautiful view), talking in the morning breeze for a while before we unfortunately had to leave. If you have a chance to visit Tetebatu, stay with Amet's family!
If I could have given more stars I would have done so. Amet is simply a spectacular man in everything. He really made me feel at home and part of his family. The place makes you breathless, the view from the terrace is wonderful. You can see both sunrise and sunset. There is a place to work if you want with Wi-Fi which is important to me. Breakfast is included and he has several alternatives, I tried them all. I always had dinner there too because he is a super cook, all the dishes were delicious. Water, coffee tea at will. The room is very clean and super scented. There is also a laundry service if you ask. I went on a tour with him and he was my guide, waterfalls, bambo village, pottery, he explained a lot of things also about coffee cultivation. I also went to a traditional wedding. I could write a poem about how good I had a good time. Unfortunately I had to continue my trip, I was very sorry to leave. Book here because you will not be disappointed!
Nothing, everything was simply perfect!!
This is a brand new homestay, but Ahmed, the owner has years of experience working in homestays and he has created the perfect place. It really does feel like a home. Everything about my stay here was amazing The place is so clean, the room is really big and comfortable. Has great views of rice fields and you can watch the sunrise and sunset from the homestay. All the meals i had were delicious. There are loads of food options available, with loads of vegetarian options avaliable too and it's the perfect opportunity to try some local food (make sure you try the lombok chilli) pictured- the jackfruit curry Ahmed also offers many tours both walking and on scooter. Both the tours I did were amazing and very informative. I learnt a lot about the local culture, food and medicine. Ahmed is one of the best hosts/ tour guides I have had in 10 months of travelling. He goes above and beyond to ensure that you have a good stay. The village is also so beautiful and the locals are so friendly. Overall, I loved my stay here and if I had the time I would have spent a lot longer here.
