The property is located perfectly facing the sea. The staffs are very friendly and welcoming. Food is prepared and served fresh. And tastes homely.

Considering the price, there aren't any negatives but may be a small evening tea joint nearby the reception or the scenic part of the property might have been much appreciated.

I really liked the bungalow it is cozy. The food was delicious. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

The pool is small and in the rainy season it was not possible to swim in the sea (huge waves), but it is not the fault of the hotel.

The place is a hidden gem, right across the beach. It's so beautifully done up; I love the aesthetics. The staff here is helpful and available on call 24/7.

The only slightly inconvenient part was having to order the food in advance, but honestly, it’s a small trade-off for an otherwise lovely experience.

Very nice place. Lovely green. Lots of beautiful landscaping. Great buildings. Staff anticipated our needs. It’s embarrassingly wonderful to call on day two for tea only to learn that they had already delivered it anticipating we would want it every day. I like that.

It’s very over priced. The idea that if paying the extra price for a hotel on the beach is to be able to enjoy walks on the beach. The beach was Very dirty and unpleasant to walk on. I mentioned this to the manager, he said that beach is always dirty during monsoon season as rubbish washes up with the waves. He just said that it’s not worth cleaning it as it will get dirty again. This is just not acceptable.

Ether exceeded our expectations ! We were thoroughly impressed with the facilities. The location is priceless ! Right next to the beach with really impressive views ! The food was delicious every single time, we have a 2 year old son and his dietary needs were taken care of by the chef, we are really thankful for that ! Our stay was made memorable by the warm and friendly staff of Ether. Mr.Maxon (the manager) made sure that we had a comfortable stay and provided us with important information after we had made the booking. Mr.Amal and Mr.Gypson were very attentive and considerate with all our requests. Special thanks to all the staff members including the housekeeping staff. We will definitely visit again and surely recommend Ether to our friends and family.

Especially the location it’s very close to the sea and the villas are very specious and more importantly the staffs are very friendly.

The ambience, the quality and quantity of the food compared to other resorts or any booking. Staff are always responsive and doesn’t cause any discomfort.

Relaxation comes naturally here, whether enjoying a garden or sea view. The natural surroundings are beautiful, with rich plant life and birdlife. The property offers pleasant access to the sea, and the local community is very friendly. The food was generous in quantity and very well tolerated.

Wonderful hotel with attractive and well-looked after rooms and facilities, including a good size outdoor pool in a sunny location and plenty of shaded areas too. The staff were exceptional - friendly and attentive to our needs - and the freshly produced food at lunch and dinner was always excellent. Our ocean front room was spacious and comfortable, had its own jacuzzi pool and was right next to a lovely sandy beach and the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. The hotel is perfectly located for beautiful sunset views.

We lost access to water but this was quickly fixed.

The staff were fantastic. Really helpful you can message them/contact them for help perfect. They are really proud of their hotel it's only a year old and very new. I wish them well on their journey and I hope their business grows and grows. Perfect location on the beach, easy to get to Allepy and excursions etc. salon nearby they will organise massage at etc. room was lovely we had private beach front with jacuzzi was excellent.

Upstairs terrace maybe needs a ceiling fan.... It got a bit hot up there! There is no bar but staff can get you drinks.

Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt insgesamt als angenehm empfunden. Besonders positiv hervorzuheben ist die sehr gepflegte Anlage sowie der saubere Strand, die beide zu einer entspannten Atmosphäre beitragen. Unser Zimmer war ordentlich und sauber, das Badezimmer mit der Outdoor-Dusche ein echtes Highlight.

Verbesserungspotenzial sehen wir vor allem im gastronomischen Bereich. Das Frühstück war im Vergleich zu anderen Hotels, in denen wir während unserer Reise übernachtet haben, eher durchschnittlich. Auch das Abendessen konnte uns leider nicht überzeugen – die Speisen wirkten qualitativ unterdurchschnittlich und wurden zudem nur lauwarm serviert. Der Eindruck entstand, dass die Gerichte möglicherweise nicht frisch vor Ort zubereitet wurden.

Vom ersten Moment an fühlten wir uns in dem kleinen und sehr liebevoll und sauber gestalteten Resort sehr wohl. Wir wurden von Max herzlich willkommen geheissen und diese Herzlichkeit genossen wir während der ganzen Woche unseres Aufenthalts von allen Mitarbeitenden. Alle unsere Wünsche wurden erfüllt, Ausflüge mit Tuctucs oder Taxi organisiert, das Essen immer frisch zubereitet und auch Spezialwünsche, die nicht auf der Karte standen, wurden möglich gemacht (seafood). Unser Bungalow war grosszügig, mit guter Klimaanlage und umgeben mit tropischen Pflanzen. Und immer stand ein frisches Blumensträusschen auf der Terrasse! Der Abschied war sehr rührend, mit allen Mitarbeitenden und vielen Umarmungen und sogar einem sehr persönlichen Geschenk. Ich denke noch immer jeden Tag daran zurück!

Top class facilities, rooms where to a very high standard, staff could not do enough for you. Food in the restaurant was excellent. Nice pool and beach was very clean and isolated.

Only down side is there is not much local to do out side the hotel.

We arrived earlier than planned and were greeted so warmly and give a welcome drink until our accommodation was ready . The location is idyllic , direct access on to an almost exclusive beach ! Accommodation was great and surrounded by by beautifully landscaped gardens with a swimming pool to cool off in . Max the owner and his staff have a little oasis here and go above and beyond to ensure guests are happy . We didn’t meet the chef but the meals we had were absolutely delicious. Thank you for making our stay enjoyable!

Beach area was restricted by concrete groins and was quite a walk up to the main marari beach … but this also meant that it was quieter … so pros and cons !

Gorgeous, immaculately laid out gardens worth 10+! Appropriate number of cabins arranged well. Staff should be proud. Very peaceful, somewhat isolated location with a clean private beach. Just what we wanted, restful after touring India. Staff were all lovely and friendly also deserving of 10+!

Other half liked everything - I thought seating generally was not comfortable. Ordering food via WhatsApp and being pushed for it was a flaff but the food was nice and fresh and just the way the home stay was organised

Der private Strand ist direkt vor der Haustür, einen tollen Pool gibt es ebenfalls. Das Frühstück und Abendessen waren sehr gut. Max und sein Team haben uns einen wunderbaren Aufenthalt beschert und alle Wünsche erfüllt. Wir können das Resort absolut empfehlen!

Very friendly and helpful staff. The garden is really well kept and the beach section in front of the hotel is spotless too (not quite true for the rest of the beach). Breakfast a bit on the average side but evening meals were good and cooked on site. Property is in good nick overall.

Aircon's position in the room is not great as it blows straight on your head all night, which I don't enjoy. I am not a fan of "filtered" water but there is a shop about 5 mins away to top up on bottled water.

Kerala doesn't really do beach resorts. There are no rows of sun loungers and umbrellas on the beach. An occasional chair and brolly, but that's about it. Form me, that's a positive. This place is right on the beach. A very quiet beach used by the very small number of hotel residents (I think there are only about 7 cabins) and the occasional local. The beach is clean and the water is very warm (a must for me). The sea is quite rough so you do have to be a bit careful, but amazing fun. The hotel has a great rooftop terrace to chill out on overlooking the beach. Great place to watch the sunset. The pool and pool area is very nice as are the gardens. Our room (suite with garden bath tub) was excellent. Very comfortable and very well equipped (save for too few hangers). I would very highly recommend this hotel too anyone looking for a chilled beach holiday. Breakfast was good and they will cook you omelettes etc if you ask.

We ordered from the lunch menu on our first day, it took over an hour to arrive and when it did it was very disappointing. Evening meals were okay, but just okay. The only alcohol on site is cans of beer (Fosters!). However, don't let this put you off. Here are a few tips: (1) try the lunch to see if it has improved and, if not, just take a tuk tuk to one of the local bakeries and buy samosas and baked goodds or take the tuk tuk to Marari Beach and eat at one of the very good restaurants there. (2) Try the dinner and, if not up to the grade, tuk tuk too Marari Beach. (3) As for alcohol (you guessed it) take a tuk tuk to the State Alcohol shop and buy your own. Good choice of local beers and some ok wines. The Fratelli rose is not bad and there are a couple of sparklers that are half decent. Didn't find any good reds, but we heard good things about Sula though none in the state shop. Marari beach restaurants: (1) Sea Lap very good and good value. Don't order the sea food platter, it is not worth the price. (2) Catch and Quench - also very good and very good value.

It being India, many of the nearby properties are kind of grubby. Regrettable amount of trash on the beach- though the team does a good job keeping the beach at the property tidy and clean.

All food had to be ordered by text a few hours before, which the manager explained why. The fruit juice also has added syrup which for the price we paid should be standard.

Property is near to the beach and very calm situated. Garden is beautiful and the fish in the pond are plenty. The staff is very nice and helpful in any way. Dinner can be ordered over WhatsApp and is tasty. Breakfast is OK.

This home stay is more like a boutique resort with 8 lovely villas with amenities akin to a resort. The location, which is bang on the beach is terrific and so was the staff led by Maxon who’s an amazing person to talk to and get things organised, whatever one needs (cabs, bikes, etc). Nidhin and Amal (don’t know if I remember the name correctly) were entrusted for our lunch coordination and other housekeeping requirements and was great as well. Our 2 day stay where we came in to celebrate my wife’s b’day was extremely lovely due to the location on and the amazing team

The main entry/exit gate needs to be staffed better (more ppl or better ppl) to facilitate easy entry and exit of guests. The food and beverage quality is inconsistent. On the first day the lunch dishes were superb (certain local curry dishes which we decided upon). However, in dinner the chicken 65 was tasteless, overcooked, dry and one of the worst I’ve ever tasted. Also they served a ‘virgin mojito’ which was just fresh lime soda without any mint (among the worst I’ve had). Fruits were tasteless which was a surprise considering that wherever else we had fruits in Kerala (Wayanad, Kozhikode and Alleppey), in our 9 day trip they were fresh and tasted amazing. The next day breakfast options were also not up to the mark. At dinner the food was good again (basic curry dishes). Due to this we did our next day lunch and even our complimentary breakfast at CGH Earth which is ~3.5 km from Ether Marari which was fabulous. The management should look closely at procurement of products and quality/ consistency of chefs. There is some problem which we couldn’t figure out. But otherwise the team led by Maxon is great and was helpful to provide whatever support they could to make our stay great.

Location location location! With two toddlers we wanted a place right at the beach with less than 200 feet from our cottage and this was it! We hardly walked for a min and we were at the beach! The property fence is only 2 feet tall and is right in the sand of the beach. Sunsets were spectacular too. Paradise with a young family! Cleanest pool and yummy food adds to the experience. Fish pond and beautiful flowers were appreciated too by my toddlers. Maxon and his team ( Nidhin, Amal, and the housekeeping staff) took very good care of our food and baby needs.. All in all a great peaceful secluded quiet holiday gem!

Heerlijk ruime, schone en comfortabele accomodatie. Het beste bed wat we in India hebben gehad. Er staan bedjes en parasols bij het zwembad en het strand. Daarnaast is er een groot overkapt deck, dus genoeg plek om te ontspannen. Het eten is ook erg lekker, vooral de Indiase gerechten. De laatste dag van het verblijf kreeg ik griep en de host was erg behulpzaam, gaf ons veel tips en reed direct mijn vriend naar de apotheek. Al het personeel is zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam, vooral de manager die de laatste dag extra zijn best voor ons deed omdat ik ziek was. Ik zou deze plek zeker aanbevelen, vooral als je even echt wilt ontspannen na alle drukte in India.

This ETHER Marari Beachfront booking was special because it was my bday escape from US. It took me in total 30 hours to get to a room of Ether. The resort is very nice and new. Room is well maintained and grounds are great. It’s beach front hotel but has no beach lounge beds on the beach and it’s quite remote from any stores or restaurant and for the price (which is higher end) provided only breakfast and charged for other meals, which again very much so lack of care for customers but seeing them as cash items. The ground staff, housekeeping and kitchen staff are very kind, nice, and helpful. The manager was also nice but with purpose. He got defensive when I confronted him for the prices he quoted me in local attraction in Alleppey, he charged me double for what is general price. Also, he charged me double for taxi to the hotel. He uped the price of tuck-tuck even after agreed on different price originally, and lied why. Again, such an obvious abuse of travelers. The resort is quite remote so I couldn’t orders my own auto so I was dependent on the manager for coordination. Also, when checking out he charged for everything and added some mysterious taxes of $70 usd. I spoke to the owner and she gave me some unreasonable excuses that the taxes have changed since I booked the hotel…. Which I booked 2weeks prior to the arrival. Again, lies and abuse of travelers. These financial exchanges and abuse makes me think again if I would go back to Kerala at all in the future. Not a good look for the resort. Generally, I don’t write reviews unless it’s clear violation of values I hold up. So please think before you engage in such practices as a human and representative of your state and people, and business.

Leider war ein Mitarbeiter in seiner Art alles zur Zufriedenheit der Gäste zu erfüllen zu aufdringlich. Das widerspricht aufgrund der gehobenen Preiskategorie dem Anspruch des Hotels auf einen entspannte Atmosphäre.

Beautifully remote location, with what equated to a private beach, which was well-maintained. Lots of lovely places to sit around the property, the rooftop overlooking the beach was a firm favourite to watch the sunrise. We had a twin room (which was a new building) and was very spacious, and comfortable, and both my sister and I had wide single beds, our own wardrobes and in the bathroom, a sink each! We enjoyed daily swims in the pool and the ocean, and Maxon arranged a boat trip on the backwaters which was a holiday highlight.

The food was great in the restaurant; however, getting many texts from the kitchen staff urging us to get to breakfast earlier, or dinner on time was tiresome.

Clean and location (on the beach), friendly staff

The hotel is located a mile or so south of the main town and beach. It's right on the water with its own small, very clean beach, which is set off from adjacent beaches and not amenable to long beach walks. The 2-story main building has a common sitting room on the ground floor and an open, spacious area with lounge chairs, tables, and chairs on the second floor overlooking the water. The entire property is planted with beautiful gardens. A pool and sitting area behind the main building are clean and attractive. Bedrooms are behind the pool area. Ours was a separate, spacious, quiet, and clean room with private bathroom, ample hot water and water pressure, reliable WiFi, and comfortable bed. The common dining room area was farther back from the beach and pool. The owner and "his boys" as he calls them were very hospitable and responsive. At our request, we had dinner and a couple of beers overlooking the beach on the second floor of the main building. The food was ample, very good, and reasonably priced.

The only downsides we experienced were the hotel's isolated location and the lack of opportunity for long beach walks. However, it would have been easy for us to get a cheap tuk-tuk into town.

La chance nous a souri puisque nous avons été surclassés. Alors un grand merci à Maxon pour cette belle attention. Nous avons donc eu la suite avec piscine privée et vue imprenable sur la mer ! L'endroit est de tout repos. On en oublirait presque que l'on se trouve en Inde :) Le jardin est parfaitement entretenu. La piscine tout autant. Plage à quelques métres. Il n'y a qu'à se laisser vivre. Les repas doivent être commandés assez à l'avance (au moins 2 heures avant votre heure de repas) mais les plats sont copieux et très bons. Pas un seul bruit dans ce havre de paix. Magnifique SPA à quelques kilomètres de là. Maxon se fera un plaisir de vous réserver un tuk-tuk. Bréf, la paradis

Wonderful start to our Kerala trip. Communication with Maxon was excellent and super helpful arranging transport from the airport and during our stay. The decor and finish of our room (sea view apartment) was lovely, including an ace bathroom. The sea view from the room was perfect. Restaurant, garden, veranda and pool were all relaxing spaces to enjoy, as was the excellent beach and bath warm sea. Food was excellent and good value. Special mention to Gipson and Amal who looked after us - both charming and always on hand via WhatsApp. Thank you to all the team at Ether for looking after us and sharing this beautiful space.

From the minute you enter you realise you’ve found a little bit of paradise in Marari, India. The resort fronts onto the beach and you can hear the waves. The manager Maxon is so attentive and helpful and made our stay perfect. The staff including Gipson, Amal, and Nitin are brilliant. Nothing is too much trouble and service always comes with a smile. George the chef cooks up delicious food. And the ladies that maintain the garden and the rooms are so friendly and kindly. What about the pool - perfect. The food - delicious. The gardens -idyllic.

After exploring Delhi, Jaipur, Agra, and Varanasi, we were definitely ready for some relaxation — and The Ether Beach delivered everything we could have hoped for! The property is beautiful: lush gardens, a lovely pool, and plenty of peaceful spaces to unwind. The food was fantastic, fresh, and full of flavour. A special mention to the staff — warm, friendly, and always willing to help. They made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. We relaxed, made new friends, and genuinely didn’t want to leave. We can’t recommend this place highly enough. A perfect escape! 🌴✨

3 days of serenity in a beachfront room with private plunge pool. Waking and dropping off to sleep with just the waves to listen to. My room and indeed the roof terrace and beach face west so perfect sunset spot. Pretty gardens with an open feel...Great food cooked to order, crab massala and seafood thali stood out. Good to walk down the beach in the early morning to see the fishermen sorting their catch and tidying the nets. Max and his team do anything required to make your trip feel special and indeed its like family, a true homestay experience. They will organise trips and transport reliably to make that early transfer less worrying. Ether is on the move upwards and I will be back at some point! Thanks guys.

I think that looking over previous reviews, the property has had works done and is now in a phase between a homestay and a hotel, its on a journey. The recent reviews reflect where the venue is now, so be guided by them would be my advice.

Everything. Hotel is wonderful. A word of warning. If you are on your way to Varkala as we were, you won’t find any place to stay like this!! It’s super clean, excellent food in fact we decided we wanted lunch at 2 pm and this was no problem they just needed an hour notice to gather ingredients and it’s all made from scratch. Superb!! Lovely pool area. Very tranquil and quiet. If you do want to go along the beach to have lunch it’s quite a walk but nice. There are a few beach shacks but our advice is stay put! Let Maxon the manager and his wonderful staff look after you. It’s super quiet which at first was a shock but we arrived in Varkala and realised how much nicer Murari beach is! Especially the cleanliness!! Watch the sunset from the beach outside. Sit on the chairs and chill. It’s magical.

Beautiful, quiet and friendly Perfect to relax

This small resort is a lovely oasis right on the beach. We had a garden, pool and distant sea view from our balcony. All the staff were friendly and did all they could to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable.

Everything! From the moment we drove in the lush gardens, to when we stepped n into reception with the views of the ocean to when we were welcomed by the staff, with the most genuine smiles! They took such great care of us organizing a special dinner for our anniversary The ocean is at your doorsteps and the pool area is beautiful! Food: absolutely delicious! Thank you!!

After a rough journey and arriving a full day late due to a cancelled flight, I was welcomed so warmly that all the stress instantly melted away. During the week, you practically have the beach to yourself. You can swim in the ocean for hours without another person in sight. Watching the fishermen at work, collecting seashells, spotting dolphins and all kinds of birds – where do you still find that these days? And in the evenings, sitting by the water and watching the sunset is simply magical. The boulders along the shore might break up the “perfect postcard look,” but they’re essential for protecting the coast. The staff is incredibly friendly. There’s a very family-like atmosphere here, and it really rubs off on the guests too. You feel at home from day one. And if you want to explore the area, the team organize excursions for you. The food is outstanding. There aren’t any restaurants within walking distance, but honestly, you won’t miss them. The chef’s cooking is fantastic, and the prices are very fair. I stayed in the large room with the private pool. Yes, it’s a bit more expensive, but absolutely worth it. Waking up with a direct view of the beach and the ocean from your bed is priceless. The room is spacious, with a large dressing area, a clean modern bathroom, and a cozy bedroom. The garden is beautifully maintained, and the main pool is lovely. Depending on my mood, I spent my days by the sea, reading and swimming at the main pool, or winding down in my private pool in the evening. After my stressful job at home I was looking for true rest and relaxation, this place has absolutely everything you need. I’ll definitely be coming back — and next time, I’m staying longer.

The beach front location is splendid.

The service, for the price, is sub par and leaves a lot to be desired. It's slow, unresponsive at times, and not as professional.

The pièce de résistance! I have to admit, I felt a little sceptical on arrival — I thought at least one of the places I’d chosen for our trip might be a dud. But far from it, this place was fabulous. Our driver took us through the gated complex and delivered us to reception, where we were greeted with a refreshing tropical drink. We then waited in comfort for our room to be ready. The room itself was exceptional: lovely and spacious, with great facilities and a comfortable bathroom. The balcony offered views over the beautiful garden and out to sea. The pool area was wonderful, and the raised deck was perfect for watching picturesque sunsets. The food was freshly made to order and absolutely delicious — a perfect end to our trip. We were very sad to leave Kerala!

Peaceful and relaxing place, with well tended garden and quiet beach. We were upgraded to a new room overlooking the lovely gardens. It was large, with a nice dressing area and excellent bathroom. The staff were very attentive and the food delicious. Max organised a trip to the backwaters in a small shikara which was just perfect for us. All in all a great place to stay.

A lovely relaxing resort we stayed in a chalet over looking the garden pool and sea view it was all that we needed for our first 5 nights in Kerala, Maxon and the staff are all very helpful and see you your requirements. The food is cooked fresh which is nice .

You need more sun loungers and umbrellas for the pool 6 is not enough. A hot plate to keep breakfast items warm during the breakfast timings would help as not everyone arrives at 0830
