Reception, location, comfort and style was superb
I like that balconies for the separate rooms were not conjoined. Our hoist was really sweet and engaging. Very polite and friendly

Great space very comfortable
A bit dusty, shower water was cold
This is a beautiful guesthouse with a lot of character. The property has an unmistakable old-world charm, with well-maintained gardens that are a real highlight. It sits right next to NWU, which made it ideal for my visit. The whole atmosphere was warm and welcoming from the moment I arrived. The rooms are comfortable and cozy, and have everything one can need. There is a real sense of care and pride in the place, and it shows in every detail. It is the kind of place that is easy to settle into and hard to leave. A genuine home away from home. Bryan was outstanding throughout my stay, genuinely helpful and attentive in a way that is rare. He went out of his way to make sure everything was taken care of, and that personal touch made a real difference to my experience. Paul welcomed me on arrival and immediately set a warm tone for the visit. Both of them clearly take pride in what they do, and it comes through in how they treat their guests. I will absolutely be coming back whenever I am in Potchefstroom.

Beautiful Cozy Colonial style guest house very unique and rustic. Bryan, thank you for your kindness and your excellent service Just going out of your way to accommodate your guests. Much appreciated 🙏
Such a beautiful building. A tranquil setting, with exquisite furnishings and well maintained gardens. I will definitely be staying here whenever I am back in Potchefstroom. Paul is also a wonderful house manager and a delightful person to talk to.
It was clean and it had everything we needed and more.
Unfortunately on a Saturday in a student town it is very noisy until late.
Excellent location. Great rooms
Vintage, cosy and memorabilia. Felt like home!
There is absolutely nothing that is unlikeable.
The place matched its description, offering a pristine and exceptional environment. 🏞️✨ The host extended a welcoming and wonderful hospitality. 😇🏡
Nothing.

Limited parking for cars
The location right on campus close to restaurants and NWU
Was not aware it was a self catering establishment , thought it was a garden court hotel . Also the curtain in front of the door to rest of the house could not close. Bit exposed
Garden Court Potchefstroom is a beautiful guesthouse with charming old Victorian character. It has a warm, welcoming feel that makes your stay really enjoyable. The bathroom is on the smaller side, but perfectly suitable for a solo traveller. The bed and linen were excellent, ensuring a very comfortable night’s rest. One of my favourite features was the enclosed balcony overlooking the NWU main gate — the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening or a peaceful morning coffee. The garden is lovely, with mature trees providing a sense of privacy from that side of the property. The street itself is very busy, with cars and students active well into the night. However, if you choose accommodation right at a university’s main gate, that is to be expected. It didn’t bother me at all, but it may not suit those who are sensitive to noise or unfamiliar with student life. I actually enjoyed the atmosphere — one moment you hear kwaito music, the next Bok van Blerk playing! You have the option to book a room at the back (not towards the street) if you wish. I got a tour of all the rooms and they are big and beautifull. I would definitely recommend this guesthouse to anyone wanting to stay close to campus. A great bonus is the Bakehouse just 30 metres from the entrance — their giant cookies are a must-try!
The Host was super helpful , compassionate and considerate. Great display of African values and “Ubuntu” .
Beautiful and well maintained

Stunning house, beautifully maintained, beautiful gardens, nice big swimming pool (clean), comfy beds. Very convenient location.
That i couldn't stay longer
This is NOT a Garden Court Hotel- using Holiday Inns name inappropriately
Not clean Stayed in a room that still had owners cosmetics, shampoo etc- onbiously just cleaned their own room in a hurry NOT a Garden Court Hotel !!!!!!!!!!!
Excellent location
Had a lovely stay.
The location was at the entrance of the university; it was walking distance to an OK food market and restaurants and just a short drive from where we needed to be. The property was easy to get into after we've been out all day. The bed was comfy, and we had a nice little covered stoep area where we had coffee in the morning. We really enjoyed our stay.
The door that leads to the next room can be covered cause as soon as they put a light on it shines through. Other then that it was great.
Excellent position and extremely comfortable rooms
I booked this accommodation & breakfasts for 4 colleagues and Jacque advised that everything was very good.

The charm of the staircase gives a great first impression when you enter. All goes downhill from there onwards
The location is down played in the reviews It is loud and sleeping was close to impossible. Street noise is a great factor to take into account. In general, the room was very dated, the bedding, pillows etc., and needed a good paint and upgrade. The garden was not as picturesque as Bookings pictures, very neglected.
Absolutely worth it! Confortable. Very friendly hosts.

The staff were great. The room was very comfortable. A great location if you are visiting NWU.
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Garden Court Potchefstroom, conveniently located next to the University of North-West, and I cannot recommend this establishment highly enough. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by the owner, whose genuine hospitality and attention to detail made a lasting impression. The check-in process was seamless and friendly – I immediately felt at home. The grounds of the property are beautifully maintained, offering a tranquil and serene environment that’s perfect for both business and leisure travellers. The garden setting is peaceful and lush, providing a lovely space to relax after a long day. It's clear that a lot of care and pride goes into the upkeep of the surroundings. My room was immaculately clean, spacious, and extremely comfortable, with all the amenities I needed for a restful stay. The bed was especially comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep. Cleanliness is clearly a top priority here, and it showed throughout the entire establishment. What truly set this stay apart was the kindness and helpfulness of the owner. After checking out, I realised I had accidentally left my bags behind. The owner went above and beyond to assist me – quickly locating and securing my belongings and making every effort to ensure they were safely returned. That level of personal care and commitment to guests is truly rare and so deeply appreciated. For anyone visiting Potchefstroom – whether for business, academic purposes at the nearby university, or simply passing through – I wholeheartedly recommend Garden Court Potchefstroom. It’s a place where you’ll be welcomed with warmth, treated with care, and leave feeling truly valued.

The location is great especially for someone traveling for academic purposes: right next to the university. The room was fantastic, and Bryan (the host) was very friendly, very helpful and great fun to be around. It was a wonderful time.
Everything was great!
My favourite place to stay in Potch! Home away from home. The owner really took great care with furnishings to have the guests experience a luxury stay. Most beautiful garden and best location if you want to be close to NWU.
Excellent location, walking distance from varsity and residences with a stunning garden. A refreshing swim in the pool was lovely after a hot summer’s day.
Nothing. It exceeded our expectations with a newly renovated bathroom. Bryan was very accommodating when our travelling party grew in number.
Bed was comfy, shower was good. nice garden view. room was spacious. nice pool to cool down after a long and busy day.
battled to find the entrance to the B&B fridge was a bit noisy for someone who is a light sleeper.
Loved the garden and swimming pool. Was so impressed with Christmas tree that was put up
The property is absolutely beautiful The garden was the highlight of the property
There is nothing not to like
We spent an unforgettable week at this beautiful self-catering unit, a charming old house bursting with character and surrounded by a stunning garden filled with massive trees, chirping birds, and an exquisite pool. It was the perfect setting for our family Christmas holiday, with three generations under one roof. Bryan, the host, went above and beyond to ensure our stay was seamless and special - he reached out before our arrival to understand our needs and even had a beautifully decorated Christmas tree waiting for us, making it feel truly like home. The friendly staff, especially Paul, made the experience even better; by the time we left, it felt like saying goodbye to a friend. Every detail was thought through, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere made our holiday magical. Highly recommend this gem for anyone looking for a relaxing, memorable getaway!
While our stay was wonderful overall, one small point to note is the proximity to the university entrance gate. The location is convenient, but it does come with some noise from the security staff, especially during early morning shift changes. While this didn’t significantly impact our experience, light sleepers might prefer to bring earplugs for added comfort. That said, the positives of the property far outweigh this minor inconvenience!
We had a wonderful stay at Garden Court. This is a very special place and really feels like home. The home and gardens are beautiful. The room we stayed in was immaculate with great quality linen - and probably the best bed we’ve ever slept in. The service is fantastic - we’ll definitely be back.
Our trip was too short.
The staff were friendly
The place was not what I expected it was not up to standard just an old building at some point I didn’t feel safe

The location and setting of the premises were great.
Parking at the property was not so great. when returning after 9pm the gates were locked, and our vehicle needed to stay outside of the property. we were not informed of this when making the reservation.
Paull and staff are really friendly with their assistance and come back quite fast. you feel comfortable and Dave.. I will definitely come back and home to stay in the same room

The property is very convenient, located next just at the university's main entrance and shopping center across the road. The beautiful garden gives you such a warm welcome and the interior is cozy. Thanks for the rusks in the room.
I wish if the car could have parked inside.
The hospitality and house is amazing. Really great stay. The house gives me Villa Von Trapp (from sound of music) feeling.
The parking feels a bit unsafe, but the university security guards are close by.
The friendliness of the owner’s and staff. They went out of their way to help me, even when I didn’t ask. My room was neat, clean and peaceful.
There was nothing that I disliked. But it would have been nice to have a microwave in my room.
Everything was on point! Peaceful and quite place . Also very pretty.
I expected to have TV channels even if it was sabc channels
This lovely guest house will now be my 'home away from home' when I travel to Potchefstroom. The name, Garden Court did not disappoint. It has the most beautiful garden for some good R&R. Great care has been taken to make the room luxurious, from very comfy floor mats, high quality linen, excellent matrass and pillows. Our room had an extra 'summer room' for having morning / afternoon coffee while over looking the beautiful garden, and not forgetting the darling balcony, so very beautiful. Thank you for your kindness and making our stay at your beautiful guest house such a memorable one. For parents visiting students in NWU residences, it is the best place to stay as it is located at the entrance of the University.
a Beautiful home away from home. Nested up in a peaceful area. This was our second time staying at Garden Court. Bryan and his staff was very friendly and welcoming as always, and the overall atmosphere was just lovely. Heavenly two nights away with superb service and a stunning view from our bedroom patio. Being able to look over Potchefstroom from our bedroom early mornings when drinking cup of coffee.. The room was very nice...cozy and clean, and the bed comfortable. We just love the vintage style/feelling of the guesthouse. Will def recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Potchefstroom area. Thanks again Bryan.
