David's Hostel & Restaurant

The staff are very friendly. My room was excellent and the food was good.

It is much further from Longset Beach current pier. The usual one is undergoing repairs. Google maps do not work. When I left the excellent manager told me the Tuk Tuk was $7 but the driver ruined this by saying no $10. He works there so very annoyed. I suspect he does it to every tourist.

The location is good, very nice easy going staff, food is nice.

The Pizza restaurant on the property and Italian restaurant down the road were delicious! Great location for Nestival. Decent value for Long Set Beach.

The room had no windows, and was dusty/stains on linen. The location was great for Nestival, but had few walkable places after dark.

Cela fait maintenant 5 mois que je voyage et malheureusement pour David’s Hostel, ce sera le premier commentaire que je laisse et il ne sera pas positif. Pour commencer, comme certains commentaires précédents le disaient, l’accueil laisse à désirer mais à la rigueur ce n’est pas le plus important. L’hostel était quasiment vide mais nous nous sommes retrouvées avec trois garçons dans le dortoir. Ces mêmes garçons qui ont ramenés deux filles en pleine nuit et ne se sont pas cachés d’avoir des relations sexuelles (encore une fois, chose qui peut arriver j’en suis consciente et je raconte l’histoire en faisant au plus vite). Le plus choquant, cependant, a été la réponse des gérants face à nos plaintes le lendemain matin. Ils ont menacé un des garçons de lui faire payer 500$ d’amende + que la police avait été appelée (réaction peut être excessive mais pourquoi pas). Spoiler alert : rien n’a été exécuté, les gérants et le garçon sont devenus amis, jouaient au billard ensemble et David demandait sans gêne si la nuit s’était bien passée et combien de filles il avait ramené (ambiance au top). La seule punition qu’a eu ce garçon (et franchement tant mieux pour lui mais bon) était de faire semblant de nettoyer les dortoirs et les sanitaires. C’est à dire de faire les lits pour les prochains clients MAIS en gardant les précédent draps avec bien sûr les traces des ébats de la nuit (photos ci jointes régalez vous). Bref je ne saurai comment l’expliquer mais nous nous sommes profondément senties humiliées avec mon amie. Nous avons donc demander un remboursement (qui a été fait par le garçon). Et David ne cessait de s’excuser en disant que ce n’était pas lui qui était responsable de la situation (à moitié vrai quand on est gérant d’un hostel). Excuses très peu sincères puisque son but était surtout que nous ne laissions pas de mauvais commentaire (bonne lecture David :)).

Nous étions deux filles dans un dortoir de 10, et les trois seuls autres garçons présents ont ramené des filles et ont passé la nuit à avoir des relations sexuelles. Si cela était déjà très désagréable et inconfortable, là ne résidait pas la plus grande partie du problème, mais bien dans la réaction du personnel. Après avoir alerté David, le gérant, celui-ci a d’abord menacé les intéressés d’expulsion et d’une amende de 500 $, affirmant même avoir appelé la police. Cependant, en moins de 30 minutes, les règles se sont très rapidement assouplies : ils se sont « lié d’amitié » avec le client concerné, lui demandant simplement de nettoyer le dortoir et les toilettes pour que tout rentre dans l'ordre, ajoutant que « personne ne se plaindra de l’hostel » en nous regardant droit dans les yeux. Le garçon a donc refait les lits avec les mêmes draps tachés et a passé la serpillière en dansant, ce que le gérant a adoré ! Le gérant a ensuite continué à plaisanter avec lui, lui demandant des détails sur sa nuit, tout en nous jetant des coups d’œil… Bref, aucun respect, une humiliation collective. :) Nous l'avons confronté, mais il n’a pas compris le problème, repoussant la responsabilité sur le garçon et assurant qu’il ne peut pas contrôler son établissement 24h/24. Nous avons quand même pu obtenir un remboursement de nos deux nuits (payé par le garçon concerné) et sommes parties. En résumé : bien que les dortoirs soient acceptables, il y a du sable partout sous les matelas et nous doutons que les draps soient lavés régulièrement, ils étaient pleins de taches. L’accueil est froid, le personnel irrespectueux et les prix sont élevés par rapport à d'autres hostels de meilleure qualité. Ils font aussi payer chaque détail bien plus cher que la moyenne (par exemple, les serviettes à 4 +1 de caution, ou les scooters à 12,50 $, bien qu'ils aient répondu à un autre commentaire qu’ils allaient réadapter leurs tarifs).

La struttura ai trova a pochi minuti a piedi dalla spiaggia, in 10-15 minuti si raggiunge anche il molo di Long Set. Vicina ad alcuni risoranti e bar. Buona la colazione, servizi e pulizia ottimi. Personale gentile e disponibile. Disponibili noleggio scooter, servizio tuk tuk e lavanderia.

Top locatie, zit op 5 min lopen van een mooi rustig strand af en vlakbij best festival. Accomodatie is vrij nieuw, nette kamer met warme douche en goeie airco!

Het restaurant viel ons wat tegen, op het strand kan je beter en goedkoper eten.

We had a 1 night stay at David’s booked for nestival through booking.com. We had this booked 3 months in advance as we knew the price would go up for the festival, it was going to cost us £22. When we arrived on the morning to check in David informed us that there had been an island power cut 2 days prior that caused a “overbooking error” which means he decided to honour peoples bookings who I can only assume booked a few days before for costs of £70-£100 per night due to the festival and chose to give these peoples rooms instead of our booking for way less money. This left us without a place to stay and like I mentioned due to it being the day of the festival there was NOWHERE to stay on the whole island for less than £100 a night, David decided to offer us a 1 man tent in the garden for a couple in 33°c heat (free of charge) as if he was the one doing us a favour after screwing us over. We had no choice but to leave the island, therefor missing nestival which was the whole purpose of our journey to koh rong. Was such a shame to have our trip abruptly ruined by one man’s greed and dishonesty, couldn’t recommend this property any less

Понравилось абсолютно все, удобное расположение, рядом есть супермаркет и аптека, вкусные рестораны, а так же хотелось добавить про комнату , очень чисто, просто и со вкусом , ну и веселый дружелюбный персонал. Обязательно вернусь еще ✌🏼

カンボジア最悪の宿。絶対に泊まらない方がいい。 WiFiが弱い。 飯が鬼のようにまずい(人による)。 スタッフが控えめに言ってゴミカス。なぜbooking.comに載せるような宿で英語を1ミリも理解できない(しようともしない)スタッフを雇っているのか意味不明。 体調があまり良くなくてドミトリーの部屋で寝ていたら叩き起されてダブルベッドのルームに強制移動させられ、なぜかと聞いても当然英語が通じないのでオーナーらしき人の聞き取りずらい英語と電話。結局ドミトリーの2倍だよ、とか意味わからんこと言われて、じゃあなんで移動させたねん、って話。結局そのままドミトリーに戻された。まじで意味がわからない。 件のスタッフの友人らしき現地人の溜まり場になっていて、常にタバコの匂いがしていた。ただでさえ不味い飯が余計まずい。吐きそうだった。 オーナーが親切、というレビューがあるけど、ホンマか？オーナーいなかったけど。電話した人がオーナー？だとしたら英語が分からないスタッフだけ残して2日間どっか行ってるオーナーが親切なわけないやろ。

My main criticism is the lack of signage... Apparently, there are 3 routes in to this hostel. I used 2 (different days), and there were no signs to direct travellers. Especially as Google maps on the island is not reliable. The last thing any traveller needs is the avoidable extra mileage whilst carrying their gear!

I loved the location as it was perfect for nestival. Also the owner was an incredibly cool guy.

Prime location! Spacious beds, nice gym area, lovely shower facilities, lovely and cheap food.. and can’t forgot the staff! Will be coming back for sure, they talk to everyone and make you feel at ease.

I liked nothing. This hostel is the worst one ive ever been to.

-When i arrived, david said he had overbooked and wanted me to sleep in the same bed as a girl who arrived at the same time as me. He also wanted us to pay full price despite asking us to share a bed. -The owner is rude and is always high or drunk. -the owner is lazy. More times than not when i needed something the owner just waved me off and told me to come back later(always napping) many other people experienced this problem. -only 2 "working" bathrooms for more than 25 people also the bathrooms are disgusting and there was never toilet paper. -showers are cold and full of piss. -on saturday a huge party is held there until about 4 am with the LOUDRST MUSIC EVER. -people regularily have sex in the dorms and i never saw them switch the sheets. (My bed was disgusting when i arrived. -the owner is greedy. He takes a 5 dollar deposit for towels and only returns 4 becuase of the "cleaning fee" All in all if i could give this hostel less than 1 star i would. I cannot believe this place has 9 stars. It deserves 3 AT MOST!

the owner is kinda rude & only wants to make money, isn’t very helpful & very unprofessional. he asked a few people to sleep in the same bed, because he overbooked the place. he made a lot of inappropriate comments to girls & touched them without consent. i felt very unsafe when he was around. it was very loud when nestival happened, as its the place of the after party. the beds are hard & the room is always full of sand, because it doesn’t get cleaned. there’s no hot water in the showers and the toilets were always clogged or out of order

The beds were big and comfortable. Toilets and showers are outside and clean (no hot water). Location was ok. Its easier to go with the ferry to long set beach than the main pier. They dropped me off by the pier for free when I was going back. The restaurant was ok.

The host was being inappropriate towards some female guests at times, especially one girl in my room felt very unsafe because of his behaviour. Others seemed to enjoy it. He was also drinking and smoking weed while working and wanted to party with the guests when he was not working, the line of what's professional and what's not got blurry. But if you are into that kind of vibe, this place is for you. I became hesitant to interact with the staff because I felt uncomfortable.

Perfect location. The staff was very helpful and arranged all the transport from and to the Pier.

The staff was sometimes a little bit pushy about alcohol (free shots etc.) and always tried to arrange a party atmosphere. I don't mind party but don't want to be forced.

New place but getting more and more put together. Beds are comfortable, has individual plugs, and privacy curtain. AC and fan in the room works well.

Excellent location at the end of Long Set beach. Right next to Nest but far enough away that you don't hear the music when you're trying to sleep. Only 30 minute walk along the beach path to the main village. The owner David is funny, knowledgeable, helpful and gets to know all his guests. He rented me the best motorbike I've had in southeast Asia. I will definitely stay here again when I come back.

David is a very nice guy, that just started his hostel. He is very interested and wants to help you with everything. Everything is new and therefore very clean and there are nice big beds.

The food is very average, but normal as the cooks are still in “training”. The location is not the best, but it is very close to Nest and Kaoh Touch Beach is a 15 minute walk through the forest (on a path).

It was very comfortable and has a central location not far from the Pier. David was a kind guy always willing to help with whatever you need.

Brand new hostel. New facilities, very clean and great location, especially if you want to go to the NESTival but still want a good night's sleep! Everything has been thought of. I got a towel here (hostels in Cambodia don't usually provide this) and a key for the locker has also been given so you don't need to bring or use your own. David really looked after me - I arrived having been very sick that morning and he made sure I was comfortable and fed. The AC in the rooms was bliss and the showers were powerful. Wonderful people here 🙂

great location. 5 min walk from the beach and the best, but quiet. staff is great, very friendly and welcoming. hostel is new and clean, very well thought out. beautiful and with the money!!! food was great as well and good price :)

Lovely people working here, they take care of you. Place is amazing, near to the beach, but very calm. Probably the best place in Koh Rong

Very well located 2 min walk to the beach and to the Nest. So you can sleep perfectly without listen loud music, and if you like the nest party or the beach. You are super close. The staff is super friendly they invited us traditional cambodia coffee and we shared a local meal together. As Argentinian i love they have free hot water every time I asked for my mate [Argentinian tea] and also they have free refill of water. David is the owner of this new hostel and always they make us feel confortable. The room has lockers with padlock and own light and curtains. So %100 privacy. I really recommend to stay here and support the local people and learn/share more about Cambodia.

All good. But maybe They could have dinner menu. Would be awesome because no to many options to buy food during the night. But i hope they have it soon as a new hostel.

Had a great stay at David’s hostel. It’s a pretty new place so the facilities are quite basic but if you’re looking for clean and comfortable place to stay at, then this is the place for you! The hostel owner was very welcoming and approachable, great way to connect with locals.

The hostel was in the perfect location for the nestival - only 2 minute walk and way better price. Amazing staff and big beds!!

I love the location, because very close to the beach and the festival party , comfy and friendly staff, it make me feeling like home.

the roads go up to the main road it's not great but it's okay.
