The location is excellent, and staying in one of the heritage buildings offers a unique experience at a very reasonable price. It is within walking distance of the main heritage attractions and many famous local food eateries.

If you are driving , parking might be a challenge during peak season. Other than that it is a perfect place!

De gedeelde badkamer wordt gedeeld met drie kamers en daarin zit ook het enige toilet. Dit betekent dat je soms moet wachten op het toilet als iemand anders aan het douchen is.

The building was lovely. Excellent location.

Extremely noisy. The windows open up onto the lower part of the building where everyone enters and exits making it noisy at all times of the night. There was only one bathroom.

Great facilities. Free clothes wasching. Fridge, etc. the property is really really beautiful.

It’s noisy. You hear absolutely everything from other rooms like it we’re all a single room. This makes it hard to relax and sleep. Also music from the cafe next door until about 3am. The host provides ear plugs so they are aware and do what they can to but it’s something to note if you’re a light sleeper.

The rooms are very quiet and clean. There are no bugs in this property. Harris was very attentive and helpful. He did allow us to wait in the lobby since our flight was late at night. I would recommend this property to everyone who is coming to penang.

Solo un baño compartido para tres habitaciones (mínimo 6 personas usando el mismo baño). Al principio de la estadía fue difícil poder usar el baño porque estaba constantemente ocupado, sobre todo en la mañana y en la noche. Luego se fueron algunos huéspedes y se hizo más fácil.

It is pretty close to the main attraction, the chulia night market, bubble tea shop. The rooms are pretty wide.

Shower room: There was a water leakage in the shower that night and the door was hard to open and close

Aircon was fantastic, we wouldn’t have coped without it! Nice little kitchenette area and washing machine. Self check in was easy. Never seen any staff which wasn’t an issue for us but others may prefer. Staff did contact us through booking.com though to offer fresh towels and room cleaning (although this was only offered on the last night of our stay which didn’t make much sense). Good location, close to everything.

The room was more like a cell, very tiny. The futon was completely sunken in the middle which was unpleasant. Bathroom wasn’t cleaned during our entire stay.

We stayed in the family Room and The AC was not able to cool the room down very well. It was Pretty hot, and the poor insulation in the floor meant that all the cool air just went out of the room. The fan doesn’t help much, since it pushes the hot air down and is not direct on the bed. the bed was foam, comfortable at first but then my husband and I were in our own little canoes, as the mattress compressed and didn’t bounce back.

Note: Due to a last-minute change, the host notified us a day before arrival that we would be staying in a different property ("Aceh Suites by Aayu - 1 min walk to Armenian St"). We agreed to the switch, so this review reflects that alternative accommodation. - The staff were very friendly and responsive, providing plenty of recommendations for sightseeing, restaurants, and local activities. They even organize a free tour or activity every day for guests to join. Additionally, they allowed us to leave our luggage for a few hours after checkout, which was very helpful. - Great location in the heart of George Town - Spacious

- It was often very noisy due to motorcycles, calls to prayer, and nearby shops that would rattle their doors and shutters open as early as 6 or 7 am. This was our main disappointment, as other reviews had described the place as 'peaceful and quiet.' - A member of the cleaning staff entered our room after knocking, but we didn't hear him. It would be better if they messaged us via WhatsApp first to ask if we actually need cleaning. - Blankets were a bit dirty

The most important factors in evaluating the hotel for me, are the air conditioning, location, accommodation, parking, and value for money. The first thing I noticed when we entered the room was that the air conditioning was working and the room was cool, which gave a very good first impression. The air conditioning was also very good, which was the most important thing for us. I liked the room; I thought it would be cramped for the three of us, but it was actually good and suitable for the price. The accommodation was also nice, and the location was truly excellent. Not only are there shops nearby, but it's also convenient for walking. You can enjoy the morning atmosphere after sunrise, and while walking, you'll find bakeries that offer truly delicious pastries. I never had any problems with parking; I think I was lucky in this regard, as I always found a parking spot. Now, on the negative side, it's the bathroom. Another thing is that the check-in and check-out process was very convenient and excellent. Overall, I recommend the hotel. I've traveled to the same area, Georgetown, more than once, and this is the best hotel I've stayed in...

There's no extractor fan in the bathroom to get rid of odors. I know there are windows, but they're not enough. The only negative thing is the bathroom, if it were improved, would make this hotel almost perfect.

Beautiful traditional house, well located. Room was nice, clean, and spacious. Staff were very responsive and even upgraded my room for free.

The location was unbeatable at that price. Management was helpful and unintrusive and was quick to respond when I locked myself out of the premises. Really appreciate the thoughtful setup.

Les toilettes et douche commune

Ich hatte diese Unterkunft 3 Monate im voraus gebucht. 2 Wochen vor Ankunft wurde ich kontraktiert dass es eine doppelbuchung gab und sie mich in das Aayu Heritage umbuchen müssten, daher kann ich nur dieses bewerten: Die Lage ist sehr zentral, die Betten sind bequem und die Mitarbeiter, die man sehr selten mal sieht, freundlich. Es gibt eine Waschmaschine die man kostenlos benutzen kann und genug Möglichkeiten zum Wäsche trocknen.

Es gibt 1 shared bathroom mit Dusche und Toilette und eine separate Toilette für alle ca12 Bewohner des Hauses, es kann also morgens gerne mal zu längeren Wartezeiten kommen um diese EINE duschen benutzen zu können. Die Wände und Böden bestehen aus alten Holzdielen, welche viele Löcher haben, sodass man jedes Wort im nachbarzimmer, Flur oder vom Aufenthaltsraum unten hört. Am letzten Tag hat leider das gesamte Haus nach Toilettenabwasser gerochen.

Sehr freundlicher Kontakt über Whatsapp. Gepäck konnte ich einer Unterkunft nebenan abgestellt werden. Das Bett war sehr bequem und die Handtücher rochen sehr gut.

Das Badezimmer nebst Toilette heizt sich ab morgens über den Tag unfassbar auf. Fenster könnte man öffnen, aber dann wird man gesehen… Das Foto des Zimmers bei booking entspricht leider nicht mehr der Realität, siehe Foto. Putz und Farbe sind zT abgeblättert und lassen es etwas abgerockt aussehen.

インテリアのセンスが素晴らしく、部屋に入った瞬間から気分が上がりました。バスルームは共用ですが、部屋数が3室だけなので実際にはほとんど気になりません。トイレも1階と2階に1箇所ずつあるので不便はありませんでした。共有スペースには湯沸かし器や電子レンジが備わっており、インスタントコーヒーと紅茶のサービスもあって快適に過ごせました。部屋は清潔に保たれています。パスワード式のキーはパートナーと別行動する際にも大変便利でした。洗濯機と洗濯物を干すスペースもあり、長期滞在にも対応できます。必要なものがすべて揃った快適な宿です。

他のレビューでも指摘されている通り、壁が薄いのは事実です。隣室の方のマナーが良かったため今回は気になりませんでしたが、運次第では騒音が気になる可能性があります。

We stayed 8 nights at Aayu Stewart and overall had a good experience. The accommodation is charming, very well located in George Town, and situated in a quiet area while still being close to everything. It definitely has great potential. The place is clean and cleaned daily, which we really appreciated. The bedding is comfortable and cozy, and the mattress in the double room with the shared bathroom had just been replaced, which made our sleep even more pleasant. The team is absolutely lovely and welcoming.

However, there are a few points worth noting. There is only one toilet/bathroom (in the same room) shared between three bedrooms that can accommodate up to seven people - having just one WC can be quite limiting. There is a washing machine available, which is great, but only one drying rack for up to five rooms (around 12 guests), making laundry logistics a bit complicated. The kitchen also lacks sufficient tableware - for example, only three mugs for potentially 12 people. Despite these inconveniences, we enjoyed our stay thanks to the comfort, cleanliness, and kindness of the staff. With a few practical improvements, this place could be truly excellent.

Everything was wonderful and my stay was great! The staff members are incredibly helpful and kind. The room was spacious and comfortable and made cool before our arrival. The space is very nicely decorated and clean! The common space is big and comfortable. The position is great!!! I would stay again 💯. Thank you!

A really quiet and peaceful room and home on a really lovely and peaceful street less than a block from tons of great restaurants, coffee spots, and shops in the historic district of George Town. I loved the chill, comfortable vibe of Aayu Stewart, and loved being so close to so much I wanted to explore. Also, Harez, the person handling my stay, was super helpful and kind via Whatsapp and email. He gave helpful directions (with a photograph) on getting to the place and into the home and into my room (keypad locks), and shared many recommendations and possible itineraries. I stayed two nights and shared a bathroom, which was clean, very spacious, and stocked with everything I needed. Plus, dental kits and earplugs in the room. But given how quiet the place was, I didn't need the earplugs. Tea and toast in the kitchen, but a great coffee shop (The Daily Dose) next door. I highly recommend this place, especially if you're looking for a great deal and a chance to stay in a historic building that's really lovely on the inside.

Удобное расположение, чуть в отдалении от шумных туристических улиц. Красивый старый дом. Сама комнатка была маленькая, без стола, но на первом этаже дома просторная гостиная с большим столом, там можно было спокойно поесть или поработать за ноутбуком. Персонал очень вежливый и дружелюбный.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the overall atmosphere was calm and relaxing. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout the stay. The location is convenient for exploring George Town. I really enjoyed my time here and would definitely recommend it.

It was in a great location, the room was comfortable and clean and the shared facilities were really good. We were also able to store our luggage at one of the other apartments during the day before our bus.

Lovely spacious heritage property. Loved it and loved it more as we had it to ourselves for three nights! So much more could be done, make use of upstairs space in bedroom with a couple of beanbags, a table or suitcase rack would be helpful.

Paper thin walls and a couple of floorboards in the bedroom felt like they were going to give way! I think a couple need replacing!

Location is central, communication is great, the heritage building is beautiful and the free use of the washing machine convenient.

The house is super noisy. The walls are paperthin. The other guests staying with us didn't take anyone into account but themselves: showering at 12 am (room 3 is next to the bathroom), talking loudly and slamming the already squeaky bathroomdoor at 5 am. I guess I just want to say: don't stay here if you only think about yourself. Respect the reasonable quiet time. Also would be much better if staff wouldn't allow check-in after quiet hours. We stayed 3 nights but I wouldn't recommend (even with earplugs barely slept), just a night or max two.
