We had a wonderful stay at this B&B in Leiden. The host was incredibly kind, welcoming, and caring, and made us feel very comfortable throughout our stay. The breakfast was excellent, with a great variety of options, and the location was perfect—just a few minutes’ walk from the botanical gardens, as well as the main shopping streets, restaurants, and cafés. The room was great, and the whole place had such a beautiful, fun, and charming atmosphere. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it. I would definitely stay here again if I’m back in Leiden!

Wonderful stay, a true gem in the heart of the city! We had a fantastic experience. The hospitality was wonderful from the very first moment. The property is ancient and full of charm, instantly immersing you in the authentic style and mood of the city. Our room was spacious and incredibly bright, with great attention to detail. Another absolute highlight was the breakfast: generous, varied (both sweet and savory), and delivered every morning directly by the owner, a personal touch that we truly appreciated. The location is extremely central, just a short walk from all the main attractions and the most traditional neighborhoods. Furthermore, we found Leiden absolutely beautiful both by day and by night, and this location is a perfect hub if you want to reach the Central Station to visit nearby cities like The Hague and Delft. Clean comfortable room. Close to the centre of Leiden which is definitely worth the visit. AND an absolutely fantastic breakfast. Fred was also a great host.

Staying at historic Het Waterhof was a rare treat. The hosts were helpful, friendly and very responsive. Right in the center of Leiden, the property was the perfect place to call home. We highly recommend staying here!

My parents-in-law stayed here for a week. They loved the breakfasts brought to the room, the location, and the lovely old building. I worried about the steep stairs for them, but the rope to hold onto was especially helpful when going down.

I can't think of a single thing!

This was the loveliest room in a very cute city. The hosts are super friendly and make you feel very welcome. The room was spotlessly clean and the breakfast was one of the best experiences of my stay there. It’s very central but also very quiet. Highly recommended!

We had a bit of street noise in the early hours of the morning but suppose it is weekend and party/pub animals going home.

We really enjoyed staying at this B&B accommodation and interacting with the host - one rarely gets such personal attention these days. The host was welcoming, attentive and accommodating. We loved the breakfast: it was high quality, freshly prepared, and plentiful, served neatly in a basket. The building is a heritage property with fascinating history. Very clean, spacious and comfortable apartment in a superb location. Highly recommended!

On ground floor so some evening noise from passers by. Lack of air on in warm weather could be an issue.

Two rooms, plenty of space. Perfect location. Clean. Nice bathroom. Quiet during the night.

We had the ground floor suite, very convenient, but we could not lock the windows. A lock box would also be nice.

It was a beautiful building with modern amenities. The room was beautiful. Very big comfortable bed and a sofa, breakfast table, fridge, coffee machine and tv.The bathroom was very modern with a really good shower and constant hot water. Breakfast was delivered to the room and it was huge with a good variety of breads, croissants, fruit, yogurt, butter, jam, meats,cheese, boiled eggs and freshly squeezed orange juice. The host Fred could not do enough to make us feel welcome and answer any questions we had. I would highly recommend Het Waterhof to anyone looking for an upmarket central B&B in Leiden

De centrale ligging. Het waterhof is ideaal gelegen om Leiden te voet te ontdekken. Ruime kamer, goed groot bed en prima badkamer. Fantastisch ontbijt. Vriendelijke en superbereikbare gastheer.

Het keukentje bevindt zich in de gang en de besteklade was iets te karig gevuld.

Die Unterkunft hat unsere Erwartungen übertroffen! Das Zimmer ist sehr geräumig und hell, das Bad sehr groß (mit toller Dusche), es ist eher ein Appartement. Die Lage ist optimal, sehr zentral und trotzdem absolut ruhig! Fred, der Vermieter, ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit und steht jederzeit zur Verfügung. Das Frühstück war sehr liebevoll vorbereitet und wird in das Zimmer gebracht, so dass man ganz in Ruhe und entspannt in den Tag starten kann. Es gibt einen Kühlschrank und einen Kaffeevollautomaten im Zimmer. Das Gebäude ist sehr alt mit ganz eigenem Charme, das Appartement ist neu renoviert und modern ausgestattet. Wir werden ganz sicher nochmal nach Leiden kommen und dann wieder diese Unterkunft buchen!

The property was easy to find from the station which is a 10 - 15 minute walk away. The apartment was spotlessly clean and Fred, the host, explained how everything worked and told us about the fascinating history of the building. We had great communication with Fred if we had any questions. The property was situated within easy reach of everything you might need or want to visit during your stay in Leiden. Amazing breakfast with fresh coffee available 24/7.

Fred greeted us for our early (surprise) arrival and immediately made us feel welcome. We could tell he was proud of his historic home. The space was bright and homey and the bathroom shower was wonderful. The huge breakfast basket which Fred schlepped over to our suite each morning was a beautiful way to start our two days in charming and vibrant Leiden. There are many restaurants nearby; we enjoyed Van Goyen Jeneverhuis and Restaurant In den Bierbengel, both of which are two blocks away on the same street as Het Waterhof.

Dekentje voor op de bank en badslippers.😃 Het bed was iets te hard volgens mijn dochter. En ik hou persoonlijk van twee aparte dekbedden zodat je snachts niet het dekbed van elkaar af trekt 😄(maar geen big issue hoor)

It was a quiet and spacious room with ample living and eating space and in the centre of town, within east walking distance of museums and many eating and drinking places

It does not have the worlds most powerful shower.

Super centraal in Leiden! Heel gezellig binnen met eigen woonkamertje en daar achter de slaapkamer. En prima sanitair met fijne douche - mogelijkheden met 3 verschillende stralen, een toilet en wastafel. Op de gang klein keukenblok met mogelijkheid koffie / thee. De gastheer/vrouw zijn heel vriendelijk en denken graag met je mee mbt in- en uitcheck en cafe’s / restaurants in de buurt. Heerlijk ontbijt trouwens ook! Broodjes - fruit - ei - vers sap!

Eigenlijk niets helemaal prima vertoeven daar! Als ik een tip mag geven. 2 heerlijke badjassen voor als je een avond of ochtend lekker nog even op de bank wil hangen voordat je de stad in gaat, of een fluffy deken voor op de bank zou ook al goed zijn.

Gemütliches, helles Zimmer in einem uralten Gebäude, behutsam und geschmackvoll modernisiert. Die Lage mitten in der Altstadt, dabei sehr ruhig, war einmalig und idealer Ausgangspunkt für alle Unternehmungen in der Stadt. Morgens gab es ein reichhaltiges, abwechslungsreiches Frühstück, vom Hausherrn persönlich im Zimmer serviert, wobei auch unsere Sonderwünsche freundlich aufgenommen wurden.

Es hat einen Moment gebraucht, bis Zimmer und Bad ausreichend beheizt waren, aber auch hier hat der Hausherr keine Mühe gescheut und schließlich ein Heizöfchen aufgestellt.

Sehr nette Gastgeber und ein Aufenthalt mit Geschichte! Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen!

Schönes Zimmer, tolles Frühstück und perfekte Lage! Da es einen separaten Wohnbereich gibt, hat man genügend Platz.

De kamer was ruim, mooi ingericht en er was een zeer goed bed. Het ontbijt was lekker en op de kamer geserveerd. De persoonlijke en zeer vriendelijke ontvangst was super. De gastheer gaf onmiddellijk goede, duidelijke en correcte info. Bedankt voor het leuke verblijf!

The property was lovely!! Fred, our host, was charming, greeting me us with a warm welcome, a tour of the site, a little history lesson and you wouldn’t believe the amazing breakfasts that he prepared and delivered to our door each morning. The apartment was immaculately clean with lovely crisp sheets - best pillow I have ever slept on and a really comfortable bed. I loved coming ‘home’ at night after a day of touring. Also must mention the shower - rain shower and regular shower both with great water pressure and endless hot water. One could see that a lot of love and attention went into providing an exceptional guest experience. I would highly recommend Het Waterhof to my friends and can’t wait to have an opportunity to stay there again.

The location is perfect for Leiden - quiet and so close to the activities of the town centre. The breakfast was outstanding! The style and decor were elegant and I loved the trees outside the windows giving a bit of privacy but not blocking the view of the sky and old buildings.

Just a note that the shower takes a bit of time to warm up so prepare when heading out. The shower itself is great with three different options.

Die Unterkunft unserer Mädelstour (drei Übernachtungen) liegt in einer ruhigen Straße abseits vom bunten, lauten Trubel in der City. Trotzdem sehr zentral: 15 Minuten zu Fuß zum Bahnhof; Bars, Restaurants und schöne Geschäfte liegen um die Ecke (kurzer Spaziergang). Optimal als Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge nach Den Haag (ca. 20 km, gut per E-Bike zu erreichen) und Amsterdam (mit dem Zug). Abends konnten wir noch gemütlich in einem der Appartements zusammensitzen. Die Einrichtung ist modern und geschmackvoll, die Bäder (mit großen Duschen) machen einen hochwertigen Eindruck. Zu erwähnen ist noch das üppige Frühstück mit Obst, Joghurt, Eiern, leckeren Brötchen und Croissants. Alles für einen guten Start in den Start.

Da gibt es kaum was zus meckern. Da es sich um ein historisches Gebäude aus dem 16. Jahrhundert handelt, führt eine sehr steile Treppe zum zweiten Appartement im Obergeschoss.

De bedden zijn ( naar onze mening) te hard en de koffie kan beter, cappuccino etc niet mogelijk, warme melk in de ochtend naast de koffie zou een grote plus zijn.

I had a lovely stay in this historic property. It's located on a quiet, pretty street in central Leiden, and is convenient for everything. The room itself was generously sized – there is a living room area and a bedroom. And the very nice owners deliver a delightful breakfast every morning! Perfect!

Die Gastgeber haben uns herzlich willkommen geheißen. Wir hatten jederzeit das Gefühl mit Anliegen, an sie herantreten zu können. In der, sehr geschmackvollen, Deluxe Suite, haben wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Ein Lob für die hochwertige Matratze! Die Vielseitigkeit des Frühstücks ist ein purer Genuss! Brötchen vom Bäcker, ... Dazu kommt, das dieses B&B einfach genial liegt - zentral und ruhig! Wenn wir noch mehr Positives aufzählen, haben wir keine Chance, hier wieder ein Zimmer zu bekommen, weil es nur noch belegt sein wird!

Prachtige plek in gebouw met historische waarde. Grote kamer, heerlijk bed, lekkere douche en een TOP ontbijt. Ook echte verse koffie naar believen en een echt lekker wijntje voor een redelijke prijs.

Frühstück und Lage waren super. Die Entfernung zur Altstadt/Centrum ist auch für absolut unsportliche sehr gut zu bewältigen.

Das Auto gut unterzubringen ist sehr kostspielig.

Wir haben zwei Nächte in dieser Unterkunft verbracht und uns rundum wohlgefühlt. Das Haus liegt in einer kleinen Gasse, sehr zentral und dennoch absolut ruhig – was wir besonders geschätzt haben. Die Zimmer sind hübsch und liebevoll eingerichtet und lassen sich gut verdunkeln, sodass man wunderbar schlafen kann. Auf dem Flur gab es die Möglichkeit, sich jederzeit selbst Tee und Kaffee zuzubereiten. Zur Begrüßung standen sogar eine kleine Flasche Sekt und Wasser bereit – eine sehr schöne Aufmerksamkeit. Die Gastgeber waren ausgesprochen hilfsbereit und haben uns am Morgen ein köstliches Frühstück zubereitet. Auch die Check-out-Zeit um 11 Uhr ist angenehm entspannt. Alles in allem eine wirklich tolle Unterkunft, die wir sehr empfehlen können. Vielen Dank für die schöne Zeit!

Wir haben ein Mädels-WE in Het Waterhof verbracht. Die Unterkunft schien frisch renoviert zu sein und hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Die Kaffee- bzw. Tee-Ecke war super. Auch ein Kühlschrank war vorhanden. Uns wurde ein tolles Frühstück ins Zimmer gebracht...klasse. Die Betreuung vor Ort ließ auch keinen Wunsch offen.

Het Waterhof was een heerlijk idyllische plek om wat tot rust te komen met partner. Het mooie gebouw en het prachtige Leiden hielpen erg aan de fijne sfeer die er hing. Het ontbijt was zeker een meerwaarde.

Ik kan niet meteen iets bedenken.

Mooi ingerichte kamer met een grote aparte zit ruimte. De eigenaars vertellen je tijdens de ontvangst graag over de historiek van het prachtige gebouw. Het is ideaal gelegen midden in het centrum, op wandel afstand van alles dat in Leiden te zien en te doen is. Op wandel afstand vind je heel wat te eten en drinken. De ontvangst was warm en fijn!

The history of the property was interesting and we appreciated the owners explaining about it. The location was close to everything and was perfect. We were warmly welcomed and all our questions and requests were answered promptly. The breakfast was really delicious, I very much appreciated the efforts of providing me with gluten free options.

Fred gave us a brief history which was very interesting. The property is in a lovely street in the centre and was on the whole very quiet, considering this. The breakfast served in our room was plentiful, well presented and tasty. If the six cities and towns we visited whilst in Netherlands, Leiden was our favourite. It is beautiful.
