Ameya Kerala is a beautiful and confidential place near by the lake. Nature is luxurious and the house / rooms are decorated with taste. The team is very caring and always available to suport. I got sick during my stay and they took great care of me. I also loved the yoga class there :)
As a solo traveller, I think that the place is a bit too remote and intimate. Lunch/ dinners are served directly in your room’s terrass which is nice if you are on a romantic trip but which reduces social interactions to a minimum if you are travelling solo. A more lively house vibe with a shared dinner space available could easily solve this 🙏
Rien!
Can add some more veg food options.
Excellent property, very good location and Anish was very good host Would love to stay again Suketu Trivedi
The rustic setting with 5 star amenities
The air conditioning took some time to cool the room. Breakfast to start at 8 am instead of 8.30 am. Dinner to be available atleast until 9.30 pm
This was truly an incredible stay! The location is so serene and the property is just beautiful. The property is set in a rolling garden with hundreds of birds and animals around. You can sit by the pool under the coconut trees sunbathing or read your book on your private pavilion. My highlight was the food for sure! You have to order your meals a few hours in advance because they buy everything to cook for you from the village. It is beautiful home cooked Keralan food at it's finest.
If you want a busy holiday this isn't for you! It is pure relaxation at Ameya.
Absolutely beautiful location, easily accessible from Kochi. We spent our last few days in India there, after a busy month of travel. It was a perfect place to recharge before heading home. The cottages are very comfortable and all have views of the lake. The staff is attentive and warm. Meals are served on the cottage verandah and a number of delicious choices are available. We highly recommend Ameya Kerala to anyone looking for a relaxing time in a beautiful place!
Nothing
The property was very comfortable with a large bed and garden bathroom. The decking overlooked the beautiful gardens. The pool area was very spacious. Very quiet and relaxing.
Absolutely beautiful property & scenery! This small resort has everything right & the attention to detail is incredible. Private dining was such a joy & all organised so well by the lovely staff. The ladies all deserve a mention as they made the stay so memorable. Don’t hesitate to book this property, sheer relaxation & tranquility.
Location slightly away from any anything but it wasn’t a big deal as happy enough to stay within the resort.
The rooms and food were spectacular.
It seemed a bit remote
For anyone wanting to escape from a high pressure work environment and the constant news feed this is an idyllic location. Exceptional welcome into a family's private home. Staying here was the highlight of our visit to Kerala.
We loved our stay here! It is so tranquil, has a gorgeous view of the lake, and the service is really wonderful - it's lovely to have meals served on the private terrace. he food was great and also quite reasonably priced, given the isolated location.
Nothing
Great place and wonderful staff. Food was lovely as well.
Ameya Kerala is a true hidden gem. The location is breathtaking, offering an unobstructed 180-degree view of the lake that is simply magical. It was the perfect place to unwind at the end of our holidays. We particularly enjoyed the beautiful swimming pool, which offers a great spot to relax while taking in the scenery. Because the resort is small and exclusive, the atmosphere is incredibly peaceful and private. The traditional Kerala architecture is stunning, and the rooms are very comfortable. What truly stands out, however, is the staff—they are attentive, kind, and go above and beyond to make you feel at home. It is the ideal spot for anyone seeking tranquility, luxury, and the natural beauty of the backwaters. Highly recommended
A few things to keep in mind: there is a Hindu temple nearby with prayers and chanting that can start early and last throughout the day. While it’s part of the local culture, it can be a bit distracting if you are looking for absolute silence over several days. Also, the resort is somewhat isolated from shops and commercial activities, but this is easily managed as Uber is very reliable and accessible in the area if you don't have your own transport.
The property is owned by a French couple, who rent out the villas/rooms when they are not using it. The architecture of the main house is fantastic, and staying there felt like a homestay. The staff were very friendly and the food they served was delicious. The free use of the kayak was a nice touch.
If you just want to sit on a lounge chair and read a book, this is a great property. Since there isn’t much else to do in the surrounding area. The area just outside the property is very littered. And whilst this might be easier said than done, education of the local people (a few of whom work at the property) on the negative impacts of this would benefit everyone.

Beautiful and distinctive villa with lots of charm. Excellent hospitality and genuinely warm service throughout our stay. Dinner and breakfast served to the room were very good and added to the relaxed, intimate experience. Service was attentive and thoughtful.
We stayed in a room with an outdoor shower only, which was less convenient.
Idyllique.

A boutique property in a beautiful location on the lake, ideal for a 2 to 3 night stay or after a house boat trip. It is essentially a place for rest and relaxation but the boat trip that Anish, the manager, arranged to the Kumarakom area, was worth doing. They have bikes which we used. The staff were all very accommodating. As there are only a few local style restaurants, you are essentially obliged to order the in-house meals but they were all excellent, with locally sourced fresh produce. The memory foam mattress was a wonderful relief as we had very firm ones at other properties on our trip. We enjoyed our stay.
The internet and power were at times irregular. This is rural India after all! There is both a mosque and a temple nearby who periodically broadcast prayers over PA systems. At times these were a little intrusive but also part of the local colour.
Ameya is the most beautiful place we have seen. Our stay was really wonderful and Anish and his team were really to kind to us. The endless view overlooking the lake from our room was unbelievable. The food was to die for. We can't wait to come back again. We have really enjoyed every minute with an outstanding ambience. Every small detail of the place has given us the feeling that we came back home. Really without words.
The property itself is so beautiful. There is so much thought given to each and every nook and corner. Whereevr you look there was art or art pieces. The book collection they had was so nice and different. I wish I had more time to sit and read. The breakfast provided was excellent. Each morning we had a few options to choose from. They even provided us with oat milk for a few of our family members who were vegan. Even the dinners served on each day was delicious and very well prepared. It was very simple yet wonderfully prepared. We throughly enjoyed the wheat malabar parathas with curry on one of the nights.
The chef although seemed very through with vegan ingredients when asked, somehow kept serving us dishes which were not vegan friendly on multiple occasions. Eg- On the first day he did not serve us with dessert with dairy in it but served us with honey glazed fruits. Which we had to send back. We were very happy that he wanted to serve us coconut sorbet the next day and assured us that its vegan. But when asked he said it had dairy cream instead of coconut cream. So, we had to clarify each time about ingredients for each dish.
Loved the location, the decor inside the rooms, the staff, the food. The food was excellent - home made and delicious and was catered to an extent to your needs. The staff - Anish, Bala, Sudha, Asha, Rashmi made me feel like I have come home. Thank you for creating such a beautiful space in the world.
I loved it all
It was such a special place!!! The photos look nice but they don’t capture the truly special atmosphere. The staff were all so kind, Anish was unbelievably helpful in booking things for us and giving us advice - he even came with the driver to welcome us at the airport! You get breakfast (lunch if you want it) and dinner delivered to your own private terraces. There’s a pool and you can kayak on the gorgeous lake. It’s such a special place and it’s the people there that really made it. I’d definitely go back!
That we had to leave
We loved the privacy with just a few guest rooms, our meals served on our veranda, the artistic stylish decor, and scenic setting looking out onto the backwaters and tidal landscape.
Nothing
Excellent from start to finish! Anish and the rest of the team were flawless and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was memorable! The property is unbelievable, amazing views and the whole site has been very well designed with some carefully curated aesthetics. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. We will be back!!!
Helpfull and friendly staff
Mosquitoes at night
We had a wonderfully relaxing two-night stay. The property is beautiful and exceptionally well maintained. Our garden-view cottage was delightful; we especially loved the décor—particularly the bathroom. The food was excellent, both in flavour and presentation, and we really appreciated being able to dine on our own private veranda. The staff were consistently warm and attentive throughout our stay.
The only minor drawback was the number of crows, which could be a bit noisy at times, though of course this is part of the natural surroundings and not something the hotel can control
The atmosphere and location is stunning! The staff were very attentive.

Beautiful place, with serene nature. The staff is amazing! Everything was clean, and well designed. We loved the food, and Yoga lesson.
Everything was great
Remote and beautiful. Lovely staff to look after us.
It was stunning - so peaceful and relaxing. The staff were so attentive and kind and the food was delicious. Feel very lucky to have experience this very personal space.
Siamo stati molto bene. Bellissima struttura molto ben curata.
Amazing experience . If you are looking for peace and nature connected stay do visit them. Excellent service under the leadership of MR anish Ji.

This place is AMAZING. Check in was smooth with Anish and he was there whenever you needed anything. We stayed in the suite, attached the main building. Aesthetically beautiful with attention to detail. The raised bed was wonderful waking up to the lake and gardens. But what makes this resort spectacular is the staff. Chef Prahladan cooked us unbelievable food each night - allowing us to try all the local fish and more. We didn’t have to raise a finger thanks to the ladies Sudha, man jut, Asia, Sini and Reshmi! The report itself is beautiful looking over the huge lake with much nature adding to the overall ambience. Thanks so much, we will back!

Can't rate this place high enough... If there's place - grab it
What can I say about this place?! Absolutely exceptional- what a property! From the moment we arrived ‘home’ Anish and the team make you feel like you are indeed that, and can’t do enough for you. With our own personal bungalow over the water where meals are served on the terrace, outdoor shower, warm inviting pool, wonderful grounds - it’s a complete haven of calm and serenity. Anish made all the arrangements for our trips and transfers and went truly out of his way to help us with internal travel bookings which we would have been stuck without. Meals were exceptional and the ladies who served so friendly and helpful. The grounds are kept immaculate! Truly the whole staff are incredible. I don’t hesitate to recommend this place and urge people to try it for themselves!
Our 4 nights at Ameya exceeded expectations. The bedroom was spacious and beautifully furnished and we loved the outdoor bathroom/shower. The hotel grounds and views over the lake were stunning. We were very well looked after by Anish and his staff and the food was excellent. All and all a perfect place to end our stay in India.
Spacious rooms, beautiful gardens, nice villas, great breakfast and dinner prepared with love, friendly and helpful staff, large pool, beautiful lake views
Remote location, bathroom needs refurbishments,
Amazing location fantastic staff , food great , attention to detail, no request was a problem , anish and his team were great
The crows
The room was very comfortable and the bathroom lovely. Anish and his staff went the extra mile to ensure we had a good time. Food was beautifully presented and cooked.it was a beautiful place to chill out and relax in glorious surroundings.
It suited us very well but we would not recommend it for people with children who needed to be entertained.
This is one of the most fabulous places I have ever stayed in, and I’ve travelled a lot. It has been created with so much thought and love which shines through in all the attention to detail. Every corner is a photo opportunity. The owner/manager Anish is calm and helpful, the staff are delightful and the food is delicious. The saltwater pool is great, I had a private yoga session and an Ayurvedic massage, the whole stay was so relaxing, a retreat from reality. Just gazing at the lake, the ducks, the trees, fruit, flowers and changing light is all you need to do. We loved the Shanti bungalow over the water. Really hard to leave!
Nothing
The accommodation and setting were fabulous, we had dinner both nights which we really enjoyed. The breakfast was very delicious. The staff are wonderful and make you feel very at home. Anish the manager is so helpful and can help you with any questions you might have he is so efficient. Managed to book Mr Sunil who was available for all of the driving jobs that we needed and made our travels so comfortable and straightforward. Mr Sunil was very knowledgeable about the roads and surrounding areas. We went on the bird sanctuary boat ride, which we really enjoyed. Thank you so much Anish, Mr Sunil and the lovely ladies serving breakfast and dinner. Special thanks to Sudha and Simi such charming ladies. However, all of the ladies Manju, Asha, Resmi and Jeyakumari were great. Can not recommend this property and experience enough. Thank you allso much.
The all thing that was a little disappointing, I went to swim early in the day and the pool looked like it needed some attention. As I like to swim this was really only a pool to cool off in but was a beautiful setting. Wasn't brave enough to swim in the lake.
This place is pure magic! Absolutely loved my stay here. The most peaceful location beside Lake Vembanad, the saltwater pool is lovely to dip in, the staff so friendly, the cottages are so lovely and spacious but the highlight has to be the food. Incredible meals! I will definitely be back.
Booking the Ameya Resort was one of the best decisions that we made during our trip to Kerala! This place is a paradise on earth. From the facilities to the staff - everything was pure perfection. **Advise to all of the travellers; if you want to have a boat trip on the black waters of Kerala, I would recommend to do it from this location instead of Alappuzha (Ameya resort can arrange that for you). We took boat trips in both locations, and it was much less crowded and the views were more spectacular from this side of the Vembanad lake.
It was exceptional. Quiet and exclusive with only four rooms on the whole property
Nothing….
The staff and the people were very supportive and helpful. The food was excellent and the location on the edge of the lake was fantastic.
The bed, mattress, bedding and the linen were not upto the mark. Also the roof could do better with having insulation installed. Interiors had gotten hot during the day even with AC on!
The hotel is in a beautiful location, with gorgeous rooms, wonderful staff and beautiful design. Wish we could have stayed longer and will definitely come back. Thank you again.
Great property, good location (not great), wonderful view over the lake. Very nice garden with seating areas. Very special house with some small garden villas.
One member of staff (gentleman with glasses, no beard) was extremely rude to my travel partner . He even shouted and got very angry. The atmosphere turned from calm and peaceful into very unpleasant and tense. We had agreed on a slightly later check-out (around 11 -11:15 instead of 10:30) and then he came at the door at 10:50 shouting we had to leave the room immediately and he became extremely unprofessional. We even felt unsafe because of it. The ladies serving the food etc. were very nice and friendly.
Location is nice with great views and sprawling property. Room was gorgeous, the whole property paid lots of attention to detail. Nice breakfast. Staff very friendly. Nice pool.
I assumed a lot of people were being nit-picky about the crows, but there really are a lot of crows. You will never experience 100% peacefulness because the crows are quite loud. One even jumped on our breakfast table which we were not thrilled about. Food was okay. PLEASE remember that if you have a driver that they will provide accommodations for them (it is now the law in Kerala); we had a little issue with our driver the first night but it was eventually resolved.
Nice grounds and fantastic lake views. The support staff were fantastic.
Quite pricey for a 3-4 star property. Felt a little too secluded.
There are no words to describe this property. A wholesome stay. The hosts were so welcoming. It was perfect, specially the food.
Everything was great.
Our room ((Shanti) had lovely view overlooking the pools, garden and the lake. It was very spacious. We really liked the veranda that projects out over the pond. The main building has a lovely open plan lounge. There is a yoga centre and a message facility. All the meals were very good and delivered to the Veranda.
The open air shower was not something we prefer but was ok. The toilet was remote from the main room and cumbersome to get to.
The views were stunning and enjoyed the massage and eating food brought to the veranda- staff were friendly and helpful
Laundry they turned my white suit to pink which was harrowing for me as I brought it in India and did my mothers last rites whilst in Delhi- I have sent email to owners about them replacing the damaged clothing as they can’t do anything for the hurt and pain caused to me by destroying a memory of my spiritual homage to my late mother. Tuktuk was suggested for day trip which was a mistake as it took longer and on the way back we had to stop 4 times as the radiator was over heating- the driver was lovely but as I knew i wouldn’t be able to get food at the venue late I had to get some food to take back and given the stop start journey back I was shattered the next day. Tuktuk is okay for short journey otherwise car is better plus they can park in the tourist spots.
Best place I’ve ever stayed in! The most gorgeous property with so much attention to detail. The staff are so lovely and helpful. Can’t fault this place
Nothing, it was all perfect
Words cannot describe how wonderful my stay here was. The staff couldn’t have done more to look after me and make me feel at home. I spent my days swimming in the pool, doing yoga in the gardens, reading my book and completely switching off and relaxing. I took a tour to a nearby temple, a cooking class and 2 boat rides while I was there, all activities were well organised and very enjoyable. Every meal was delicious and although slightly pricier than local restaurants was still very affordable and value for money considering the location and personalisation. I wish I’d had more time to enjoy the Ayurvedic treatments. Ameya also helped with transfers to and from the property at very reasonable prices. As a solo female traveller I was worried I might feel a bit isolated or awkward but I immediately felt like one of the family. The place is really like a home from home and the rooms are spectacular. I felt like I experienced ‘how the other half live’ for a few days - I felt like a queen in my jungle palace being waited on hand and foot. Thoroughly recommend for a few days R&R, I stayed 3 nights and could have stayed longer.
There are a lot of crows…nothing to be done and is the same in all of Kerala, but worth mentioning in case someone has a fear of birds!
Paradise, considering the surrounding area. Everything what was described is true and photos are corresponding with the reality. Welcoming team: Mr. Nataraj, chef Prahlad and all the ladies that were making our stay great.
Stunning location, so quiet and tranquil right on the lake. The staff are amazing and can’t do enough for you, they can organise boat trips etc and had great recommendations. They only have space for 8 guests so it feels like a special retreat. Salt water pool was lovely and really private too. Would highly recommend.
We booked 3 days at Ameya and added an extra one. Amazing garden, top notch bungalow and great swimming pool overviewing the lake. 4 times upclass dinner served at our own bungalow and we once took the opportunity to join the chef delivering his masterpieces. Everything perfect because of Anish (always ready to explain Indian history and Kerala culture) and his staff constantly running the extra mile and then doing one more. Highly recommended!
Nope, cannot think of anything that needs improvement.
calm and serene place. esthetically planned and environment friendly.
tranquility of the place. food which was our choice nd was prepared with so much of love.
The staff were wonderful and the grounds and facilities made our stay feel very special. The food was delicious and varied and gave us a great insight into the local cuisine
Nothing
This place is truly magical. It is a French families home rented out when they are not there. With serene private gardens and views to die for it is an amazing place to unwind. We watched the sun go down over the lake with the birds coming home to roost then got up at dawn to just watch the place come to life. With superb food and attentive staff this is a wonderful place to stay.
The views and friendly helpful staff were incredible.
Upon arrival the sheets and towels were stained and appeared to be unwashed. Didn’t feel like a clean room.
The staff!
Nothing
Wonderful resort, the seaview bungalow was definitely worth it, the private terrace and the meals served there were very nice and Anish and his team were very friendly and helpful!
Amazing location and staff were so attentive and friendly. Very unique setting and rooms.
What an amazing place. The accommodation and grounds were stunning, with wonderful views across lake vembanad. The staff could not do any more to make you feel at home, and ensure you have a memorable stay at Ameya. We would highly recommend this place and will definitely be back.
Everything is so sustainable but only disappointment was to see small plastic butters and jams.
View of lake from property is the only thing which was nice, property gardens looks maintained.
We are 2 couples with 3 toddlers 1. Services - Before reaching we got message from manager to confirm us dinner on phone by 6:30pm so that they will prepare it, they only want to serve us dinner just by 8 Pm, i suggest 9:30 so manager said, we should have dinner outside as they won't be served us, we were travelling from munnar with 3 toddlers we were late from traveling and don't want to have dinner by 7:30 and want to reach our hotel first to fresh up. The check in took forever and they put all the bags in reception area, later we pick our bags and went to our room. Food - Dinner- little to no flexibility we have Three 3 year old toddlers, we ask them to give us milk and chappati for kids, the chappati was very salty and kids drink cold milk, we asked some appetizers peanut chat which was made of raw peanuts instead of roast once, we did not finished it and other thing we ask for was fish fingers, when we eat it it was cold and not spiced properly, we manage our food from outside. Breakfast - we have opt for continental breakfast and dosas, they served us fruit plate and mix juice, I asked for watermelon juice for my son they refused to make and then they did not ask for what kind of eggs we want untill we ask them to make some omelettes, they have given us dosa instead of pancakes that they usually serve but dosas were thick no crunch, kids did not eat at all, sambhar was passable and chatney was ok. Food can be said mediocre at best. - Shabby rooms, smells, insects every where, spider webs, lizard and many more roaming around, one hornet is created house in chair in the porche. Toilet has very poor light. Staff: I found Mr Natrajan very rude, services is poor, property is not maintained properly. food is not good. No view is good without proper service when you have paid so much money. I have also notice on next night we have seen the manager and other staff till 10 pm in the reception area and attending some foreigners.
There are only 4 cottages here, 3 completely private and one "suite" attached to the lobby area. They prepare all the food at your request (extra charge). Food is really delicious and the food man is great! You really don't have a choice of any other food though since you're inside the gated property. The place is very tranquil and calm. Such a nice place to do nothing, swim around and relax. Loved it here. The pool was very great and so many places to sit around the property.
We stayed at the suite and we weren't aware that it would be attached to the "hub" where all the workers are and all the other guests may enter. The suite is upstairs and downstairs is the lobby area. It wasn't loud or annoying just not what I expected. Still an absolutely amazing suite.
It was a great pleasure staying in Amaya! The property is just gorgeous, the rooms are decorated with so much love and attention to details that it feels like home. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We really loved our dinners served on the terrace. All the additional services that we booked we also great. The yoga teacher is extremely proficient and the massage therapists were good as well. First time being in Kerala and finding Ameya is pure luck! We will definitely come back for a longer stay.
