Reviewed Aug 25, 2026The Driftwood Lodge is absolutely beautiful. The room was large and comfortable with an incredibly clean bathroom. The shared space was massive and overlooked a stunning vista of mountains and valley. Our host Yelena was gracious and kind. She made us a hearty breakfast and took the time to chat with us as we enjoyed the breakfast.
I can't think of anything that would have made our stay better-just more nights! Driftwood Lodge exceeded our expectations!

The shared spaces are of the absolute highest quality, and with only a handful of guests, there’s lots of space to keep the feeling of privacy.

It’s quirky. Family run there are some quirks. Not a lot of staff around. The front door latch didn’t work. When you found family members they were great.

Reviewed Aug 7, 2026Das Haus ist beeindruckend...vor allem der sehr große, hohe Wohnraum mit Kamin, an dem wir abends gemütlich vor dem Feuer sitzen und den spannenden und unterhaltsamen Erzählungen des Gastgebers Mark lauschen konnten. Das Zimmer war sehr sauber, ruhig, die Betten bequem, die Lage ist sehr gut (wir waren auf dem Yellowhead-Highway unterwegs), landschaftlich reizvoll. Das Frühstück am Morgen mit dem besten Brot der gesamten Reise -von Yelena frischgebacken- war ein Genuss. Auch die Wandertour am nächsten Vormittag -ein Tipp von Mark- hat uns gefallen. Ebenfalls die anderen Tipps für unsere Weiterreise, die wir genutzt und sehr geschätzt haben (z.B. die Hot springs hlgu isgwit). Danke für den schönen Aufenthalt!

Reviewed Jun 17, 2026Location is incredible. This was a rare opportunity to experience a location, and a lodge, that i would consider more of a destination. Stop looking at reviews, just book the night, you wont be sorry. Our pictures look like they are painted postcards. Sheets and bed were very comfortable. Room was clean, and quiet. Access to a kitchen and refrigerator/freezer were appreciated. There is no AC, but the fresh air from screened window was just right. Hostess was warm, and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our time.
Hard to think of something we didn't like. The shower was a little small, but this is a 1980s log cabin. It comes with some quirks — like a great room/common room with displayed art, and a view to die for. Basically, the small shower really didn't matter.

Reviewed Jan 19, 2026Morning coffee and a late sip on the porch facing the Hudson Bay Mountain was like living in a dream world. The seating available made it very comfortable and welcome to enjoy the view to our hearts content. The hot coffee ready all morning was a welcome smell and encouraged each day to start off with a positive and lovely vibe. The pool table, ping pong table, piano and the entire grounds were lovely to keep the kids busy and active which gave me times to get some work done during our trip. We loved our walk around the property on the pathways. The kitchen and laundry facility was a huge help to our family. We were able to bake some mac and cheese and have toasted bagels. You never know what messes can happen so we did do a couple loads of laundry mid week. So happy we chose Driftwood lodge over a hotel, my heart was full hearing the kids run around the property, laughing and letting out all of their energy, instead of being stuck in a small room. We will stay here again when we return to Smithers.
Wish we would have had more time to walk around the property to the ponds, that is our fault for booking our days so full of activities.

Reviewed Oct 3, 2025Die riesige Lounge mit dem gewaltigen Kamin (der über 200qm große und sehr hohe Raum wird tatsächlich mollig warm) ist beeindruckend - und als dann noch atemberaubende Nordlichter zu sehen waren (die Lodge ist außerhalb von Smithers ein perfekter Beobachtungsort) war klar: Die Driftwood Lodge ist im wahrsten Sinne ein Highlight unserer Kanada-Reise! Dank an Yelena & Marc, an Sophie & Matt!

The room was great; loved the comfy king-sized bed and ample space. We could have used another bedside table lamp though. Otherwise we really enjoyed the room.

Reviewed Sep 9, 2025There are many things that made this property so nice. As we were arriving, I got nervous that we were driving out of the town proper. This turned into a bonus. While driving around 5 minutes we were to a rural setting with a beautiful view of the valley and the mountains to the west. Next, the room was spacious. Guests have access to a nice shared kitchen/utility room with complimentary washer and dryer. Finally, the hosts were very nice helping us with getting our e-bikes charged. I would highly recommend staying here if you are in Smithers.

Property was tip top condition, a lovely large log lodge with amazing great room and decks with amazing views of Hudson Bay Mountain and surrounding area. Room and bathroom were very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was delicious. Yelena and Mark were terrific hosts and checking was simple.

Reviewed May 20, 2025Beautiful log building with incredible view! The rooms are cozy, there is a huge common area with couches, pool table and fire place. There is also a deck on which you can sit to admire the view. The host is friendly and we had a wonderful stay.
Minor thing, but the tap in the bathroom is hard to open without it going too far and spraying too hard.

Our bed was comfortable and the room was QUIET, even with the windows open. We were tired after several days of traveling and needed a good night of sleep. So glad we didn't book a hotel room in town, right on the highway ...
The shower in our room was small - but it had plenty of hot water.
