What a lovely place. We had forgotten our toothpaste and I asked at reception whether they had any spare. The nice man there said they didn’t but there was a shop 5 minutes drive where I could get some. I explained that we weren’t travelling with a car, and resigned myself to coping without. Half an hour later, there was a knock on our door, and we were presented with toothpaste and two new brushes. A member of staff had clearly driven to the shop specially to purchase these for us, for no extra charge. This level of care is so exceptional and just kind. Thank you so much.

The staff were very polite and friendly. The food was very nice and plentiful. I did the great north run and was too early for breakfast, so they prepared a few things to take with us which was very nice of them. I would strongly recommend staying in this hotel if you are visiting the area.

Super Stay, Value for Money, Exceptional Service. We, like many others booked a room at the Three Horseshoes after a long day walking around Beamish open air museum. From the moment we arrived, we were totally disarmed by the super friendly staff. We were shown to our room with a friendly chat and we booked a table for dinner. Dinner was cracking, a Roast Beef Dinner with Veg, mash, Yorkshire pudding and proper meaty gravy which was so good that I ordered extra, and was served with a standard family sized gravy boat full. The beer, I had Timothy Taylor's Landlord was served clear, with a lovely thick creamy head, it was cold, fresh and tasty. My wife partook of the cocktail menu and went for a WooWoo which was so nice that she had another, then another. The food and drink alone is worthy of a 5 star rating, but then it was served by knowledgeable and attentive staff who were genuinely interested in talking to us and sharing their knowledge of the local area. The Landlord Daryl, a humble unassuming host introduced himself and took the time, like all his other staff to chat. The whole ambiance was one of familiarity and friendliness, being family run and employing locals, it felt genuine and honest. When we came down after a comfortable night's sleep, the waitress, who's name to my shame I can't remember told us that we could sit anywhere, choose a big table so you've got room for everything, brought us coffee and orange juice and took our breakfast order from the breakfast menu. Our food arrived in short order and the waitress skilfully juggled talking to us, talking to another couple, taking orders, running tables, answering the phone. She was more than a waitress, she was an expert on the local attractions and made recommendations to us and other couples dining to maximise the time and enjoyment of the local attractions.

Everything was exceptional Had lunch and breakfast there which was outstanding. The staff were amazing from us arriving until we left the following morning. Couldnt have felt more welcome. My son and I were going to the football and they without us asking dropped us off at a bus stop which saved us a walk. Thanks again for that Amy The hotel itself is wonderful. Will definitely be going back there at some point in the future.

Very clean, and the staff were so helpful and polite. The breakfast was delicious plentiful and a good selection they also provided excellent evening meals The location was easy to find with ample parking I would highly recommend this place to anyone staying in the area. My wife and I will definitely be back

I would not say this is a negative point. Who likes a soft mattress is ok ,but who needs a firm mattress then it is a bit of an issue..

Such friendly staff, a kitchen that knows how to deliver great food at a reasonable price. The whole vibe is of a happy and friendly nature. It's so close to Beamish and Durham while seeming a retreat.

Very friendly welcome from all staff encountered, who made every effort to make my stay comfortable and relaxing. Room was tastefully decorated to a high standard, and contained everything I needed to make my stay comfortable and relaxing. Evening meal and breakfast were both tasty, good quality and reasonably priced.

Excellent country pub serving fine ales and quality food. The landlord Daryl is a wonderful host. A great base to start your journey around Durham and Northumberland. I would definitely stay again.

Breakfast excellent stopped having full English should have had small portions, poached eggs brilliant had mussels in Thai sauce superb & fish course in evening fish cooked to perfection, our cousin from Dipton who recommended it said they have never had a bad meal there. Even take away cups in bedroom if you want to take a drink with you

One night stay in this pub. Room provided everything we needed - comfortable bed & places to sit. Tea / coffee making facilities. Evening meal was lovely at a reasonable price. Breakfast was included in the price & offered an excellent choice. Will definitely use again.

The food and the service in both the Restaurant and the Bar was excellent. Lovely clean rooms.

There was nothing we didn't like.

Excellent location for the North East karting track. Food was absolutely amazing. Prices were good too. Bed was really comfy, and a nice touch of tea and coffee in the room, with staff giving me a cold bottle of water to take up on the evening.

Unfortunately the toilet was constantly refilling which meant for a sleepless night as it was loud. I cant blame the hotel for that though as they were unaware about it until i said the following morning.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Three Horseshoes. It's in a great location on a quiet lane and is very close to Durham.. The breakfasts were delicious and we had a lovely evening meal too . The staff were great. All very friendly and helpful and very well trained.

Only downsides were the bedroom was a bit on the small side and there was no control on the bathroom heater.

I spent the weekend at this hotel and had a wonderful experience. The place is beautiful, the rooms were clean, well-maintained, and very nicely decorated. The food was absolutely delicious, and all the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was amazing and it was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the weekend. Really enjoyed our 2 night stay here. If we are ever going to be back in the area we would try to stay here. Breakfast fantastic and the lady who served us both days was brilliant! So friendly and accommodating! People behind the bar were also so lovely and friendly, as well as the wait staff when we had our evening meal. We had planned to eat out but due to the very reasonably priced menu we decided to eat here and so glad we did! Lovely food and very good price! Thoroughly recommend staying and eating here.

In a good location, near The A1m which was not troublesome. Good parking. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good WiFi. Drink tray provided.

We had a smaller room, bed too small for adults over 6ft. The room was very hot even with the heating off. Fan provided which was quiet and effective. Could not leave window open as noise from kitchen extractors very intrusive.

Staff were just wonderful, Andrew was above and beyond but everyone was just so friendly. Food was terrific, large portions and served super fast. Defiantly return when next in the area - thank you for a great stay

Good comfortable accommodation

We stayed two nights while visiting for a funeral and so glad we chose the Three Horseshoes. Even before our stay they were so informative and accommodating. The room was beautifully furnished, it was clear a lot of thought and love has gone into the decor. Room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, with beautiful countryside views and horses in the field. Then the restaurant, wow! We had a meal the first night; Sirloin Steak and Ribeye Steak (both cooked perfectly) and Mixed Kebab Skewer - the food couldn't have been better! Then brekkie in the morning was so good! Fresh quality ingredients, all drinks included. Lovely atmosphere with background music and such friendly attentive staff. Highly recommend and would 100% book again if ever in the area! 🤩

Easy to get to from the A1, comfortable, clean room. The staff were all lovely, the man who checked us in took us to the room and was chatty and friendly. The food in the restaurant at dinner and breakfast was lovely. We will definitely stay again.
