Hard beds. White lighting wasn’t atmospheric. Outdoor lighting did not all function. Spotlight outside shone into the house all night long.

Reviewed Sep 9, 2026Lovely outside area, perfectly situated in terms of the town centre. Had all lots of nice amenities, like heaters, extra blankets, lovely outdoor area with fire pit and dining area and lots of garden space with pretty views overlooking a conservancy.
In desperate need of TLC. Most things are well worn for example, there was a dishwasher but buttons were missing (luckily Gloria was there to show us what to do), the nespresso machine works but had buttons missing , washing machine wasn’t working properly, outside fairy lights had missing lightbulbs and the one set didn’t work. We had a leak at the back of the house which seems to be a leaking geyser and all rooms needing a bit of painting and work. The description of the rooms wasn’t accurate - 2 very nice bedrooms but the third one was tiny and probably shouldn’t be a double. One tiny single room at the back of the house (you walk through a garage type thing to get to it) with an en suite bathroom. Other rooms need to share one bathroom. The pictures didn’t really reflect the exact product we were getting.

Beautiful property, but we had only 1 bath room in the house We looked forward to the bedroom with the 2 beds but it wasn’t there. Mybe turn one of the rooms into a twin bed room. Either than that the place is spectacular

Reviewed Jul 9, 2026Loved the views and how modern the house is, outstanding interior design and very cozy. Did not sleep cold a single night. Perfect place for people who love to be aesthetic( so it was the perfect stay for me). Would stay for much longer next time.
Only two complaints I have is that the missing lightbulbs from the string of light bulbs outside bothered me a bit.

Reviewed May 1, 2026We had an enjoyable stay. The accommodation was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. We especially loved the large patio area, which features a braai boma and multiple inviting outdoor seating spaces. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the Wi-Fi was reliable throughout our stay. The location is excellent, with easy walking access to town, restaurants, and nearby walking trails. Overall, a lovely stay with great potential - just a few small improvements would elevate the experience further.
While the mix of rustic and modern styling is charming, the property needs some maintenance to match its price point. E.g. more than half of the vintage light bulbs were dead, and the bathroom finishes felt a bit out of place compared to the rest of the home. We were also disappointed that the "complimentary" wood, milk, and rusks advertised weren't there. To the host's credit, they did deliver wood the next morning after we enquired.

Once again we were inspired and rejuvenated by the harmony the house forms with the environment, this allowed us to escape and enjoy the tranquility it creates. Thank you for the exquisite quality of linen, towels and comfortable beds, this is always the key to a great stay. The ambiance created, only speaks of exceptional taste and creativity. Everything was perfect! Just a suggestion, to allocate a specific parking space to each of The Cottage and The House. As the guests visiting The Cottage reserved both parking bays.

We were there for 4 days and our unit was never serviced. We ran out of clean towels and had to go buy toilet paper as well. For the duration we stayed, I believe it should have been serviced especially for a large group of 6.

Automatic spotlights outside - created some ambient through blinds. Would be nicer without for sleeping. Spotlights also attracted lots of bugs/crickets which often ended up inside overnight ... very noisy. Otherwise lovely stay!

Outdoor entrainment area is 10/10, with a big lawn for kids. Great location to explore the hills around Clarens. Just be aware that the property has 3 sets of rentable accommodation. All are designed not to impose on each other.

The view is stunning and I would spend hours on the porch looking at it. There isn't anything that we didn't like! We didn't get to meet Mari in person but she helped when we had a problem and she is so kind.

The property is unkept. The lawn needs to be mowed and the grass growing up against the pots, needs to be tidied. The pictures of your brochures does make it look better. Though I can say, the setting of the property and the potential is amazing!

Reviewed Oct 28, 2024We loved the backyard views into the mountain and easy access to walking trails. The home was spacious enough for our family of 6 and the fireplace was welcome during the colder evenings. Mari was a superb host, easy to reach and quick to respond and resolve any concerns.
The 2nd bathroom is not as close/incorporated into the house as we would have liked. The wifi was slow on some occasions and a 2nd TV would've been our cherry on top so the kids and adults could watch whatever they wanted at the same time - this wasn't a deal breaker though.

In town, close to all the main restaurants and shops. We actually walked from the house to the main center which was amazing. Spectacular views and right next to the trials. We enjoyed a perfect weekend.

The house is located in the perfect place, right below the mountain with access to the hiking trials but also right down the road from the cute shops. The house is well equipped with a wonderful outdoor space for charcoal and gas braai's, board games and family time. The house was pet friendly which made out trip so fulfilling and special - the dogs loved the hiking trails.
I would recommend that the bed in the main room is replaced. They could have put hand towels and soap in the second bathroom.
