Location was perfect,close to Wilpattu National Park.Owners and family were super nice and helpful,and just are wonderful people.They also organised my safari for 2 days as well. Plenty of wildlife in vicinity of the property(Elephants were around most days on dusk😊).And just a super relaxing and quiet spot to unwind👍🏻

For my needs,there was nothing to dislike😊

I really enjoyed my stay here. The place is in a quiet and peaceful location, surrounded by nature. The family was very lovely and welcoming.

There wasn’t really anything I didn’t like. Maybe the bathroom could have been just a little cleaner, but overall, everything was good.

The place was amazing, the family made us feel at home right away. They were really kind and did the best they could to help us with every Wish we had. The food was also really amazing, one of the best we had in Sri Lanka so far. When we left, they arranged a drive back to town for us as well. If you get lucky, you'll see Elephants on the field right in front of your room. 10/10 would recommend

De locatie is geweldig, hebben via hun een safari gedaan echt top. Ook hebben we bij hun diner gegeten en het ontbijt echt het lekkerste wat we tot nu toe hebben gehad. Smorgens heerlijk genieten op de veranda. Voor herhaling vatbaar. Erg lieve mensen, riepen ons in de avond nog omdat er een olifant in het weiland voor ons huisje stond, helaas te donker en te ver weg voor een foto.

De kraan van de wastafel in de badkamer deed het niet en het douchen is ook wel een dingetje, koud water uit de ene douchkop en warm uit de andere

El personal es muy amable. La ubicación es maravillosa, rodeado de plena naturaleza. El baño muy equipado. Las camas muy cómodas. Nos dejaron salir de la habitación y nos sirvieron el desayuno después del Safari. Pudimos pagar con tarjeta. Por la noche la familia nos enseñó todos los alrededores. Un lugar fantástico.

De accommodatie was verschrikkelijk gelegen, ergens achterin een armzalige wijk op het platteland. Onze driver schrok zelf en gaf aan dat dit wel een erg vreemde en kleine locatie was. De kamer zat vol muggen, de badkamer stonk en was vochtig, warm en muf. Op één lichtpunt n waren alle overige stuk. Buiten zat het ook vol muggen en ws er een piepklein terras waar het erg ongezellig was. Het avondeten en ontbijt waren karig en smaakloos. Eerst was het personeel vriendelijk, maar toen we aangaven dat dit echt geen plek was waar we met een gezin van vier wensten 2 nachten te blijven sloeg de toon toch wel om en gaf men aan dat dat niet kon zonder dat we alles moesten betalen en we anders geblokkeerd zouden worden op Booking. Een smoes die men waarschijnlijk wel vaker zal gebruiken. Ook trachtte men ons te verplichten cash te betalen door anders, onwettig 3% extra, aan te rekenen. We zijn uiteraard vertrokken de volgende ochtend en via onze fantastische driver hadden we de dag erop voor exact hetzelfde bedrag een prachtig hotel met swimming pool, uiterst vriendelijk en professioneel personeel en een heerlijk ontbijt. Slotsom: blijf ver uit de buurt van deze verschrikkelijke plek.

Die Lage ist super, die Familie ist unglaublich nett.

Zeer vriendelijke mensen. Kamers waren niet overdreven luxe, maar schoon en prima bed. Mooie locatie dichtbij Wilpattu.

Good sized room, comfortable beds with mosquito nets, modern bathroom. A/C broke down but was fixed quickly. Pleasant views over the rice fields, very peaceful. Wifi didn't work in room but fine on verandah. Dinner available (chicken kottu or fried rice) for Rs 1500, lunch Rs 2000, plus service charge. Breakfast a little basic compared to other accommodation. Remote location - no cafes nearby (or ATMs). Only family member who spoke English was schoolboy son who was heroic in his efforts to assist us. Onward transport to Negombo was very satisfactory.

We were disappointed with the half day safari organisation which we booked through Kurumba on the basis of good reviews, and their written assurance that drivers were trained and experienced "to deliver to our guests the best wildlife experience guaranteed". We had 2 guys, a driver and a tracker, completely separated from us in a closed off cab with the radio on. We couldn't communicate with them, and their communication was limited to their stopping the vehicle, rolling down the window, and announcing "stork", "deer", or "peacock" etc. English was very basic. We really received no information about the wildlife or the park. This was in stark contrast to our Udawalawe safari, with just a driver. Communication was excellent throughout and we learned a great deal of information. Our concerns and dissatisfaction were discussed in detail with Kurumba Lodge.

Sehr ruhige abgelegene Lage für Naturliebhaber in der Nähe des Wilpattu Nationalparks. Terrasse war groß mit direktem Blick auf die Reisfelder.

Fantastic location and the friendliest owner and family. They organised transport from the airport and for our onward journey to Dambulla. We also had a safari booked through the owners and we couldn't fault it. The food was delicious and the breakfast and lunch provided for the safari was amazing. Basic but comfortable, we loved it. Be realistic with your expectations - if you want overpriced luxury then pay for a resort. If you want genuine Sri lankan hospitality, look no further.

There was nothing to dislike.

ロケーション最高 目の前は田んぼ、10分ほど歩くと湖があり九雀が見れました。

サファリの際の朝食がスリランカ風？ホットサンドでしたが、もう少し食べ応えかつローカル感のあるものだと良かったです。あと、アレルギーのある人もいるのでゲストに聞くのがいいかもしれません。

The location was perfect, away from the main road with country side views, with a nice sitting area for realaxing and watching the wildlife. We were recommended a local lake within a 15 miniute easy walking distance, again lots of wildlife. Breakfast and meal cooked by the host, a different breakfast, like a toasted omlette sandwich and fruit, the evening meal traditional Sri Lankan rice & curry, perfect. We had pre-arranged with the host the safari, which was good value for money with a good driver/guide and were lucky to be the only ones to see the leopard on the day. Breakfast takeaway provided by the hosts and a lovely lunch of traditional food - perfect spice, which we love. Onward transport also arranged with the host with similar prices to pickme. 100% recommed this accomodation.

De locatie is heel mooi, dichtbij het wildpark en mooi uitzicht over de rijstvelden. En een lieve familie die proberen je verblijf zo goed mogelijk te maken.

Sehr nette Gastfamilie, sehr hilfsbereit, und gibt gern ein wenig Einblick in den Alltag im Dorf, gutes Essen und wundervolle Lage am Rande eines Dorfes nahe zum Haupteingang des Nationalparks mit Blick über die Reisfelder.

Das Bad ist sehr einfach, aber funktional. Kein Problem für uns, aber zu beachten: nahe an der Natur heißt, es können sich Kleintiere (Frösche bei uns) ins Zimmer verirren.

Wonderful stay at the beautiful lodge with a gorgeous setting. Home cooked food was great. Generally clean with a comfortable bed. The host organised our trip to Willpattu safari which was excellent, well organised and saw all of the wildlife we wanted to. The family were so friendly & welcoming. Highly recommend Kurumba Lodge.

Ik verken Sri Lanka op de fiets en vond dit een geweldige locatie midden in de natuur met heel vriendelijke behulpzaam vrouwtje, alles was mogelijk. Een aanrader.

Het uitzicht was echt heel prachtig. De hygiëne was was prima. De mensen spraken niet heel goed Engels, maar wilde graag helpen. Dat was heel fijn!

De warmte in de kamers, en de airco die niet heel goed werkte. Verder waren er wat beesten in de kamer, maar dat hoort natuurlijk ook wel bij de locatie waar je dan zit.

Lovely, helpful family in a really cool location. The curry and rice was incredible!

It was clean and near wilpattu national park. Sunset was beautiful.

The location is not on the lake as shown on booking.com it’s 2 miles away in the middle of nowhere. It was overpriced and food very expensive but you have no choice 1500rs for egg fried rice. DON’T book a park tour through them. It was the same price as the tour companies and awful. Very little information no binoculars and we had to pay to be dropped back to our hotel, he also it it short by 2 hours.

De locatie is gaaf! Je ligt echt aan de rand van de jungle.

De ligging en de super lieve mensen die ons ontvingen met een heerlijk watermeloen sapje. Ze boden een safari aan incl ontbijtje en wat te drinken. Hun geregelde chauffeur, waar zij samen mee werken was de reden dat wij een luipaard hebben gezien, top! En het uitzicht was top!

Er waren veel beesten in de kamer, de badkamer was onhygiënisch (schimmel)

We had a wonderful stay at Kurumba Lodge. The staff were very kind from the start, especially the young man who welcomed us and helps with the family business – always smiling and super friendly. We did a half-day safari organized through them. There was a bit of confusion about the guide being charged separately, but it was easily resolved on site, and the staff were very understanding. Our room was very clean, with air conditioning, and the lodge is in a very peaceful location. The meals were 1500 LKR per person/meal. The Kothu and rice we had were delicious! (we arrived there by taxi driver) Many thanks to the team for making our stay so pleasant.

Everything about this place is awesome! The view from our bungalow was so nice. We saw an eagle resting and bee eaters etc from sitting outside the room on the outdoor patio. The rooms had aircon and a mosquito net, private bathroom and all your basic needs. We had a wonderful time staying 3 nights - we did one full day safari, one half day safari and a night safari - we were able to see a leopard, sloth bear, deer, loads of different birds, reptiles (crocodiles and lizards), amphibians, primates (langurs and macaques) and an elephant bathing on the day time safari’s and the night time safari we were able to see fishing cats, civets, Indian crested porcupine, jackal, mouse deer and an elephant. The home stay organised all the safari’s for us and couldn’t have been better and more welcoming. The food was all organised by the home stay, lovely Sri Lankan meals - made to order, very yummy and a cheap price. Breakfast was included in the hotel price, same with water, coffee and tea. We are vegetarian so the home stay was able to accomodate our needs. They really were such lovely, kind people and Wilpattu was one of the best safari’s we’ve been on and I think Kurumba Lodge made it all easy and possible for us. I would highly recommend staying here. It’s located really close to the Wilpattu national park as well! We will definitely stay here again, if we are ever lucky enough to visit Wilpattu again. The whole family were amazing. The also organised a car for us from Wilpattu to Sigiriya. Such a great experience and such a wonderful place. Side note - the address on booking.com isn’t correct - just type the lodge into google maps using the name and it’ll send you to the right place.

Schöne Unterkunft in der Nähe des Nationalparks! Gastgeber waren sehr freundlich und das Dinner war sehr lecker! Wichtig zu wissen, es gibt kein WLAN und wir hatten auch schlechtes Netz, was aber für uns kein Problem war und auch in der Beschreibung klar drinnen steht. Die Duschen sind eher lauwarm bis kalt. Aber das ist OK!

Super freundliche Gastgeberfamilie, die sich um alles kümmert. Hervorragend organisierte Ganztagessafari mit Verpflegung und engagiertem Fahrer. Mit Abstand die besten Roti und das beste Dhal Curry, das wir in Sri Lanka gegessen haben. Moskitonetz am Bett. Ruhige Lage mit entspannter Atmosphäre auf der Veranda, idealer Startpunkt für einen Ausflug in den Wilpattu Nationalpark.

Comunicació regular; tot i haver concretat fer el safari a través d’ells, en arribar no ho tenien en compte. Tot i així, ho van gestionar però no ens vam entendre amb l’hora i finalment ens van trucar la porta i vam haver de llevar-nos i vestir-nos en 2 minuts.

The family is really kind and helpfull. The accommodation is is great. We alse did a full day safari arrangement by them, perfect! Would really recomend. Also the dinner was really good!

In a separate cottage, we enjoyed the spacious family room with two double beds with moskito nets, the well functioning a/c and the comfortable bathroom. From our veranda, we looked over rice fields. We had two tables outside for breakfast and dinner. There are altogether only two cottages on the hosts' compound. We had two nice walks directly from our cottage. The very friendly hosts organized the jeep safari to Wilpattu National Park as well as the transfers from and to Anuradhapura.

The location was amazing, so peaceful and beautiful. The hosts were great, very kind and helpful. They helped me organise a safari with other people as I was by myself.

Struttura immersa nel verde, camera pulita con terrazza perfetta per rilassarsi. Aria condizionata e zanzariera top. Il personale è di una gentilezza unica: hanno organizzato (su richiesta) ogni aspetto del nostro soggiorno (dal Safari al taxi per andata/ritorno). L’accoglienza e le persone che abbiamo conosciuto al kurumba lodge ci sono proprio rimaste nel cuore. Abbiamo apprezzato non solo il safari ma anche la passeggiata sul lago della zona circostante, una parte di Sri Lanka che merita di essere vissuta con rispetto e altrettanta gentilezza. Lo stra consigliamo.

Ottima struttura molto carina e vicinissima all’entrata del parco nazionale, proprietari molto gentili, ci hanno preparato una cena tipica molto buona e ci hanno organizzato il safari a willpattu. Siamo rimasti molto soddisfatti

Kurumba Lodge està regentat per una gran família. La seva hospitalitat ens va fer sentir com a casa. Habitacions grans i molt netes. Pel que fa al menjar va ser molt bó. Vam passar uns dies magnífics.

Don’t expect a lot of luxury. It is just so beautiful located and authentic. Great view, very close to the NP, owners were so nice. Food was great as well

De locatie van de lodge is super met mooie uitzichten én dicht bij ingang van het Nationaal Park. De kamer en badkamer zijn eenvoudig, maar precies wat wij verwachten. De familie is heel aardig en het eten is heerlijk.

Grote kamer met twee grote bedden, goede airco, lekker eten. Lief dat de vrouw des huizes verwelkomt met een sapje! Goede picknick mee voor op safari. Goed geregeld.

Wifi vaak zwak Middle of nowhere Ontbijt met witte boterhammen met ei met groente uit tostiapparaat met koffie of thee. Beetje kaal.

Wij kwamen wat later in de avond aan doordat we vertraging hadden onderweg met onze tuktuk. We werden heel lief ontvangen door de familie en voelden ons heel welkom en fijn. Eten was ook erg lekker!

Het enigste is dat het bed een beetje hard was.

Habitaciones grandes, con aire acondicionado, limpias y cama grande y cómoda. Ducha con buena presión y agua caliente. Piscina muy limpia. Restaurante con precios muy buenos y porciones grandes. Personal muy amable. Tara la dueña es muy servicial, te ofrece visitar Mihintale y todo Anuradhapura por un precio muy muy bueno. En los días que estuve alojada ingresaron a mi hija en el hospital. Tara fue mi ángel. Me ayudó con todo lo que estuvo en su mano e incluso me mandó comida al hospital. Me hizo sentir segura y en familia, una calidad humana abrumadora.

A nice stay at Kurumba Lodge! The room and bathroom are basic, but had everything we needed. The family are very welcoming. Most of the communication goes trough their young son, who speaks English very well and is super friendly! They arranged our safari, including breakfast and lunch.

The first night there was a lot of noice from the farmers doing some work at night on the fields next to the house. But the second night everything was peaceful again.

Moc hezké ubytování nedaleko národního parku. V ubytovani nám zajistili celodenní i půldenní safari. Viděli jsme spoustu zvířat. Pani domácí vařila moc dobrá jídla. Celkově tu na nás bylo všichni moc milí, nic nebyl problém.

The family hosting this hotel is super friendly and helps with everything. Whenever we had a wish, they did everything. They took us for free to the city and helped so much to buy post cards and deliver them correctly. Additionally, they arranged a very good safari with lunch included for a very fair price. The nature around the lodge is super beautiful and it is just nice to stay at this place. Additionally, we've got a lot of delicious juices for free and they offered vegan friendly lunch, breakfast and dinner. In conclusion, this was on of the best accomodations we had in Sri Lanka and I can definetly recommend to stay there.

A stay at Kurumba is a lovely, relaxed way to see Wilpattu. Kurumba has just 2 comfortable lodges with a beautiful view over the rice fields. The terrace has a table and chairs where you get your meals. The food is homemade and delicious and the beer cold. We had Sri Lankan breakfast and the lunch the lodge packed for our safari was a lovely curry. The evening meal was delicious too. The family is so kind and you feel very well looked after. They booked our safari, which was fantastic and we saw 2 leopards, elephants and a sloth bear as well as many more birds and animals. I'd recommend the village walk which the lovely sons took us on. We picked fruit and learned lots about the countryside. Also, book a night safari with the lodge. We had an amazing night and the whole family came with us in the jeep. They were great at spotting animals and the driver got us really close. We saw civits, fishing cats, a jackal, jungle cat and mouse deer. Overall, our stay was the highlight of our holiday.

A bit of a homestay style, remote in the ricefields. You can hear the elephants at night. Peacefull., They will help you to organise your safaris. Nice family, lovely, very good food. The accommodations are clean and new, balcony very pleasant. Just 3km from the park.

A bit remote but everything is remote if you wanna stay closeby the park. We are here for nature, after all! Hot water would be welcome but I believe it's planned for soon.

Beautiful views from the bungalow.

The hosts were pleasant enough, though not very prompt. We had to ask for water multiple times without much result. It could have been a language barrier, though. Meals on the expensive side for what you get and there isn't much choice of restaurants in the area. There was also a misunderstanding about our safari tour. The hosts weren't very helpful when we asked about transportation. They didn't know the local bus times and wanted to charge us double for a tuk tuk. Luckily, one of the guests staying next door was kind enough to help us and called the bus station. At the end of the stay we were charged a "service charge" even though it's a homestay and we didn't experience that anywhere else during our three-month stay in Sri Lanka.

The family is super kind, they were always willing to help me. The room is spacious and has a beautiful view. The terrace is very enjoyable. You can walk around through the village and you will find a lot of fruit trees and friendly people.

Many mosquitos in the room when we arrived. We bought our own mosquito spray. Toilet was leaking. Lot of tiny poops in the room from small animals like salamander, we don't like this.

A great, cheap place to stay near Wilpattu. It was a little more basic than thought given previous reviews, but we still had a great stay. Food was nice and the owners were lovely. Amazing views right off the front step, and there were some elephant tracks in the morning, which meant they'd come right past the lodge overnight!

After two nights there were a fair amount of ants in the bathroom, and the bathroom felt a bit dirty. Quite a small room, but comfy bed and fly net were good.

Prima kamer met airco en lekker bed. Prachtig uitzicht over bij ons groene rijstvelden. Aan de rand van het Wilpattu park Famillie kookt, regelt safari en verzorgt dan ontbijt en lunch mee. Wij genoten van de rust en het authentieke Srilanka.

Niets! Wij vonden de hele dag safari wel een beetje lang. 10 uur stuiteren in een jeep. Wij hebben geen luipaard gezien helaas maat sommige mensen wel. De natuur is prachtig de diversiteit en hoeveelheid dieren iets minder. Halve dag is zeker de moeite waard!

Very friendly and helpful staff. The lodge is located at rice fields with a great view. The food was good. Best thing about it was the safari. Our driver was great, very sensitive with the animals and had a good feeling for our wishes. He spoke good english so there was no need for a guide.

The lodge is very basic, no furniture besides the bed and one table. Sadly there were a lot of animals inside the room and the bathroom (mosquitos, frogs and a spider)

We stayed at Kurumba lodge for 2 nights and couldn’t fault our experience. The homestay is situated in a beautiful area of the national park, we were able to see so much wildlife on our doorstep. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner all made fresh by the family. The night safari that they took us on was amazing, we saw a wild fishing cat (very rare), elephants and crocodiles.

Sehr gemütliche Unterkunft, etwas weit außerhalb der Zivilisation, aber in der Lodge bekommt man alles, was man braucht. Das Frühstück war etwas dürftig, das Dinner lecker, aber preislich teuer. Insgesamt aber zu empfehlen, liegt mitten in der Natur, vor der Veranda sind Reisfelder.

Lovely tiny lodge with a view over the rice paddies. The family is very kind and helpful. Since you're very close to Wilpattu National Park, there's not much around. So the family arranges breakfast and dinner at the porch in front of the room. They also arranged a full day safari for us, with private jeep, breakfast and lunch. We really enjoyed our stay and 1 evening we even had an elephant passing by the place! Would really recommend this place of you're planning for a safari in Wilpattu.

Lovely property hosted by a family. We had lovely breakfast and dinner served both nights looking over the rice paddies! Bed was comfortable. AC cold and wifi good for Sri Lanka! The accommodation was perfect for us a couple who have been hostel and home stay hopping across Asia! The location is very rural which is just what we needed after hectic days of safari which was arranged by Kurumba lodge and they provided water, breakfast and lunch for us! Very nice family and nice room. The sons speak very good English. They can arrange transport or safari if you need it. I already booked the safari somewhere else beforehand. Food is basic, but good! Very beautiful view from the lodge.

I was the only one staying there and there isnt much around the lodge, so it was a bit lonely.
