Location. Plentiful parking
Towels were old and dingy. When I asked to replace one set I was told no!

The view was lovely- in the evening- staff were also extremely pleasant (Belinda) In particular
The bed was terrible we were awake at 5.30 and we left well before check out was needed - it was a pleasure stay, not work, we had breakfast at 7am and left very soon after -
Wonderful location, big comfortable bed.Nice and quiet ground floor room.
Breakfast plates need to be hot, not cold. Need bath sheets and not bath towels, which are completely inadequate
As previous report
As previous report
Breakfast choice and self service fast and efficient.
Overall the hotel appears "tired" ,very clinical and utilitarian. In need of a total revamp and modernization. The corridors are dark and dismal, the stairs to the first floor , not user friendly, lift only accessible to main restaurant! The twin beds were small, mattress and pillows lumpy and uncomfortable. Only one bedside table shared between twin beds, very awkward to manoeuvre. No plug sockets near bed area. TV very small, limited channels. Bathroom, unable to have a shower or a bath, cold tap not working, hot tap very very hot! In general not value for money 😞 .
Fantastic location to stay, amazing sunset 👌
die Lage ist grossartig
das Frühstück ist qualitativ etwa dürftig
The property has amazing views from the top floor, and easy access to the stone quarry and sculpture park.
The building is in a great location for views but not in walking distance to any shops or restaurants. In addition the facilities themselves were somewhat tired and jaded.
The food was fantastic x
Loved the retro feel
View was great. Equally, the breakfast choices and quality were great and better than expected. Also the restaurant provided a good standard and sufficient choice for all of us. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.
No one in our party found any negatives to report. All were happy with our stay.
amazing view, staff very friendly
hotel very tired no soap or toilet brush in bathroom
great location, fab dining area, breakfast was great when the sun was out and you could enjoy the view of the bay. Bar was stocked and the downstairs bar was a great day time visit. Also great wee icecream shop.
All the staff were lovely and friendly . There was a huge selection to choose from at breakfast with a choice of both hot and cold food to eat. We had dinner upstairs and the fish and chips was fresh .
The drinks are expensive a cup of cappuccino was £5.00. There did not seem to be a huge selection of draught beers at about £6.00 per glass was high , with £5.50 for a small bottle of Peroni in the bar upstairs, so if you wanted to stay longer and take in that lovely view over a drink , that was a drawback
The location and view is incredible. But don’t be fooled. The view is only present outside (obviously) in a plafe perfectly accessible to all. And the restaurant which is poorly reviewed and not exclusive to the hotel. The rooms do not benefit at all from the view.
The rooms are dated and poorly maintained. Very poor. Like an old motel, not a hotel.
Amazing view from the restaurant
Rooms were very dated
The food, the views and all the staff were lovely
It could do with some updated however, the rooms were very comfortable
Lovely hotel, beautiful views, easy parking, and most importantly, the hotel restaurant staff were amazing with my 7yr old grandson, who is a slightly picky eater. They were very attentive and accomodating, and the young chef kindly cooked him something specially. My meal from the menu was delicious. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again
Only tiny niggle was my mattress in our twin room was slightly uncomfortable, but that may be down to personal choice, and it was manageable, (my grandsons was fine)
Good location, great views from restuarant
Dated decor. Limited menu No bathroom accessories Too expensive for what we got
Stunning location, friendly and welcoming staff, super clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. The staff radiated a genuine feeling that they enjoyed their work and, were keen to help. Very very impressed. Looking forward to staying again.
Ideal location and exceptional views. The staff are amazing, friendly and professional. The patio rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable.
The meals in the restaurant are a bit pricey, especially the side orders. The food is good though.
Vista, parcheggio molto comodo
Beautiful view of Portland and Chesil beach. Lovely Carvery and fantastic breakfast. Highly recommended.
Nothing to dislike
The staff were all welcoming and professional. Very clean and spectacular views. Transport around the island easy due to bus stop outside .
Hotel may need a little updating but no real concern.
The location was stunning. The hotel room looked dated, but was comfy, clean and spacious. The hotel itself was lovely, the food was amazing. The staff were polite and helpful.
Nothing
The perfect view of sunset over Chesil beach for our evening meal.
Very friendly and helpful evening receptionist (?Lisa- thank you!)- even helped us book a table for dinner since the hotel restaurant was closed since we were very late to arrive. Location is perfect for walking and visiting some historic sites, with stunning views. We enjoyed the breakfast too. Comfortable rooms and beds. Highly recommend the D day museum- really moving, and Portland Castle too.
For our stay fans and open french windows were sufficiently cooling, but in peak summer air conditioning might be needed nowadays!
The views were spectacular,
Had a room with a patio that was dirty , it hadn’t been cleaned from previous people as they clearly liked nut !!! No privacy on patio, furniture old and uncomfortable Old furniture , no fridge, shower over the bath , really dated
Location and staff
Views and location easy parking great food service and friendly bar staff
Main reception not very welcoming or friendly furniture and bathroom shower dated
The location was excellent, the views were stunning.
Nothing in particular.
Location and views
Room areas getting a bit dated
Stunning location, wonderful views from the hotel cafe and the breakfast room. Room was perfect, very clean, had all I needed. Staff efficient, knowledgeable and very helpful. Allowed me to have my room an hour early so I could get ready for an event. Recommend and hope to return.
Nothing.
The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was lovely
The room was noisy and i dont believe it was value for money. I paid £198 for one night in a superior room, that apart from the size and the king size bed it wasnt very superior, low quality chairs, old wardrobe and poor view of the car park and garage, we were disappointed considering where the hotel is situated surrounded by wonderful views but we paid a superior price for a budget view
Location was amazing. It's a shame they're not utilising such an amazing location with better food and better facilities.
The bed was very uncomfortable. It had no support and was old. The carpets looked very old. The cafe was terrible. It looked like it was left in mid-construction. The bar was bad with limited supply. The breakfast was bland and wasn't very well done new flavour. One of the bedside lights was broken.
The double bed was comfortable and good size compared to the previous hotel we visited. View from breakfast bar.
Oudated. Too expensive
Location Breakfast was good Bed comfortable Room size was good
Rooms old fashioned Bathrooms need updating Very small tv in room No electric sockets by bedside
The room was only a standard, basic but clean. The breakfast was very good but the location was super.
Just a small thing that there was no lift for the check in with cases.
Lovely staff and stunning views
View
Had the feel of a care home , very out of date needs a refurb
Location and views wonderful! Spacious room and bathroom. Very clean. Super breakfast. Friendly, local and professional staff. Great bus service just outside.
No lift. Soft bed. The hotel corridors need an update. High room rate.
The views from this location are breathtaking. Another highlight of the stay - really lovely people working in this hotel.
The welcome was warm when I arrived at the hotel. The receptionist was very helpful. The room was big and the bed was comfortable.
The TV only had on demand programmes and as it was WIFI based it kept dropping out. The decor is a little dated. There are no plug sockets next to the bed.
Location is awesome, staff is very friendly and helpfull
Bed is won put, shower to small, Interieur is very outdated
Breakfast good. Location excellent
Food was ok but not exceptional.
De mooie locatie
Niesamowita lokalizacja. Przepiękne widoki.
Ideally situated. Views to die for. Excellent transport links, great parking. Friendly staff and the bar and cafe were very good. Not sure about the robot but got used to it.
There was nothing we didn’t like but small improvements would benefit overall. More choice on the bar meals would be beneficial. Also there were no parasols outside the cafe. It was very hot and no shade.
Amazing views!!!
Fan didn’t work
Location and views
Room was tired in terms of decor and facilities and room temperature was hot (even with a fan supplied)
The location is outstanding with amazing views of Chesil beach. The beds are comfy and the staff absolutely lovely.
Nothing that I can think of!
Stunning views. Lovely staff. Good food.
Breakfast, dinner and Sunday carvery were all very good. The standard double room was a little small but fine, it was hot but a fan was available in the room. No real view from the bedroom, the views are from the bar / restaurant which are fantastic.
Aircon would have been nice during a very hot summer weekend. The seating outside the bar (on the balcony) is limited to 3 tables and a bench, there appears to be room for at least another 3 or 4 seating areas on the balcony ( i am guessing this is left clear for diners to enjoy an uninterrupted view), or the licensing area needs to be extended. I think the area could be opened up to more seating with discretion, after dinner has been served. A simple rope or chain would suffice.
Great location and views across Chesil Beach. Staff friendly. Good breakfast.
Not a lot to dislike. A little dated. Can’t comment on evening food as we didn’t fancy the evening menus, so went out to eat.
Location excellent. Stunning sunset view over Chesil Beach over dinner. Breakfast very good too.
It was an extremely hot evening and the restaurant had full west-facing windows. So it was very hot. Would have been no problem in more normal weather conditions.
Location for our needs. Breakfast is really good
It’s in need of a major renovation soon.
The view from the restaurant. It really is special. Most of the staff are really good. Breakfast buffet was really good. Loved the black pudding and the sausages.
The hotel feels shabby, old and in need or upgrading. It is way to expensive for what it offers.
Wonderful location, cool lobby and layout. Great breakfast and view. Well staffed.
Some refreshing required, decor. However, the room comfortable, clean and welcoming.
Absolutely amazing views and the food is really good too. And the staff are extremely friendly and fun.
the sink drained a little slow
The location is spectacular overlooking Chesil Beach, and a good sunset makes it even more spectacular. The restaurant is a good location for an evening meal. The staff were very good, very friendly.
The shower over the bath with a shower curtain, shower curtains are a very outdated idea.
Great location, comfortable room. Food good too. Plenty of parking.
Two of the keg beers not available. No comfortable seating in the evenings in the bar area, only table seating.
Food: The breakfast was great, lots of choice and it was hot. The evening meal in the restaurant was superb. Room: We had a ground floor room with a patio area, perfect for chilling in the evening after a hot day. Staff: Super friendly and welcoming. Environment: Very clean.
The view from the hotel is amazingly breathtaking
The food in the restaurant was absolutely disgusting, the lamb kofta was burnt like a brick, staff just said oh the chef might be having a bad day! No offer of refund or replacement The rooms are small smelly and not nice, very dated and feels unclean
The View is out of this world. Our room was very spacious and very friendly and helpful staff.
There is no Air-con anywhere , nor fans etc. (tiny one in the room, but that is not much help) when it’s hot weather and you are in the restaurant it’s like a greenhouse! Feel sorry for the staff.
Fantastic location with incredible views over Chesil Beach and Weymouth from the bistro and bar. I paid for the indulgence pack with early check in and late book out and lots of extra goodies including wine and chocolates, worth every extra penny. Hotel staff were great and the room was absolutely spotless

Location, comfy bed. Some of the staff
Some of the staff were blunt and not in a good mood. Even when contacting the hotel via email, they came across unprofessional. The hotel is desperately in need of air conditioning throughout. It was especially uncomfortable in the restaurants.
Staff at dinner and breakfast, very professional, attentive and friendly. View Ok, room perfect for our needs. Tea, coffee, biscuits on arrival - very welcome - thank you. Receptionist on our arrival day - super informative and helpful.
Loved everything
Nice place and view is excellent
Did not accommodate our dinner ,although we did not book earlier, but staffing issue, disappointed ,we just order take a way
The view when it wasn't foggy was amazing, but that's weather for you unpredictable
Nothig not to like
The view is top notch. I didn’t want to leave 🥰🥰🥰🥰The staff are also polite and lovely. Ever so smiling
Nothing … 100/1000
v. good breakfast room good and comfortable evening meal v. good all staff very helpful and pleasant
View, location, happy and helpful staff. Very good food and a great choice. Food serving robot in the cafe.
I hope that one day - the inclusion of an indoor swimming pool would be the icing on the cake - with the right marketing- it would make a great destination place. Rooms smaller than I expected (very military!),
Views are amazing 👏 nice walks
Buffet breakfast not for me
The views were impressive. Good hot breakfast. Bath in room 219
The windy conditions spoilt it
All the staff are very friendly great service. Excellent views from the restaurant and cafe
Bed was a bit to firm and bistro could do with more choices on the menu
The hotel is set in a great location. Staff very friendly. Hotel is clean Bistro for dinner is good.
Rooms are dated, very brown and need modernisation. The bedrooms at the front are quite noisy, as close to main road. Towel rails and extract fan did not work in bathroom. Breakfast was not great.
Location Staff very accommodating All food very good
Whole place is looking rather tired and ready for a refurbishment.
Perfect location amd fab view
The place needs updating.
The location was great, breakfast was pretty good and the room was spacious and comfortable
Sounds isolation wasn’t great and the hotel was clearly short-staffed in the bar/restaurant, as well understocked for tap beer over the entire bank holiday weekend. Staff looked in general pretty stressed. On the first night we had to wait 1hr for starters to arrive. They also tried to bill us twice for a dinner we had already paid — luckily we kept all receipts (an apology would have been nice though…).
Location
Nothing
Location, Staff and food
The view. The young lady called Fay doing the waitress behind the bar/food area, lovely lady very helpful, she was amazing and definitely a good asset to the hotel. The breakfast staff were nice and took time to know our names.
Outdated, no atmosphere, boring, Resturant opening timed not open long enough, coffee shop closing early especially when people come up to see the view, Menu the same everyday. Limited staff doing everything all day, chef trying to cancel food so he doesn’t finish late. Not once in 4 days was the room visited by house cleaners, bin emptied by us, wifi not working in room. From the moment you arrive and see the hotel for the first time you can tell from the outside that is tired and needs a revamp. So many good things about it but let down by the outside, reception is spacious and welcoming, walked into the coffee shop only to be told they were closing and the bar upstairs opens at 5pm, not the sort of welcoming statement you want from the staff. The bar menu needs to be more varied as it was hit during our stay a bigger salad option would have been appreciated not all like burgers.
Fantastic view and friendly staff
Breakfast too early
Top Lage, sehr freundliches Personal, kostenloser Parkplatz.
Friendly staff. Nice food and fantastic location
The staff we met were lovely and friendly. However more staff were needed in the restaurant and bar in evenings as the wait times could be frustrating at times. It was also dissapointing many of the drinks were unavailable due to having run out.
View was exceptional, breakfast was good, but not very hot. room was on the small side but the outside private patio was a bonus.
The staff were under a lot of pressure and had difficulty in coping, especially the kitchen as waiting time was very long for a meal. The bar was not maned and led to long waits. Not good value for money.
Amazing location, stunning views, great for sunsets, easy free parking, great buffet breakfast, friendly (but not enough) staff
Not enough staff at Sunday carvery, two ladies trying to do bar and waiting and clearing. They did the best they could, and the lady from reception helped too. Housekeeping isn’t every day, was told at check we may or may not get daily maid. Rooms are a bit dated and old fashioned (but everything worked after we changed rooms as first room patio door would not open).
The views are stunning

Obviously, the location with the brilliant views along Chesil Beach. The staff, as previously recorded, were welcoming and friendly. The provision of a takeaway breakfast was really useful on departure.
It is difficult to complain, but the bombardment of the sun into the restaurant during evening time was quite uncomfortable.i
