Best location in Dunster village and super freindly and effecient staff.
Parking triky
The staff where very friendly and the food amazing. Very well placed for exploring
Its a great location, lovely staff, nice food, comfortable room. Overall a great stay
Nothing really, it all worked well
Friendly helpful staff. Bedroom and ensuite immaculate. Dogs welcomed. Amazing location adjoining Dunster Castle grounds and in the heart of the village. Dog walks from the back of the garden. Lots of different spaces to relax in.
Dinner was not as good as we had hoped and quite expensive. But handmade wood-fired pizzas in the bar on second night were delicious.
Love this hotel, we gave stayed before, it is unique. It has its own personality, doesn't try to compete with other hotels, embraces it's history and throws in lovely modern touches. Secret garden is a gem. Food very good, excellent breakfast, pizza is a good addition to secret garden. Staff friendly and efficient.
Lovely historic hotel. Excelleny room. Excellent position in Dunster. Very good restaurant
No hotel car park but easy free parking on street
Very supportive staff. Excellent food. Wonderful old building . Great location.
Nothing
Quirky venue, great food, nice room and bathroom, brilliant garden
No parking
Beautiful location
Parking challenging
Breakfast excellent - prime location. Managed to park
Facilities and character of property
leaking sink tap; shower temperature control not effective - water too hot; bedside furniture a bit tatty
rustic
parking or lack of
Tout était très bien.
le problème du parking. L'hôtel n''ayant pas de parking propre, c'est la faiblesse de cet établissement.
One of the best hotels in the south west as far as we are concerned. Amazing character, beautiful location, great bar and food. Also, fantastic garden with gorgeous views and perfect breakfast. We go every year.
AAAALLLES.... Es war einfach nur großartig. Der Garten. Die Bar. Das Zimmer. Das Essen. Ich wäre gerne vvviiiiieeelll länger geblieben
Da gibt es NICHTS
Quirky layout dating back hundreds of years. Lots of little nooks to discover & enjoy. Staff excellent - particular mention to Becca MacDonald who mixes a great Negroni & also served in Psalters. Friendly, efficient, knowledgeable. We stayed in room 14 Grabbist. Stunning 4-poster and even has a little room over the porch.
Hotel doesn't have a cocktail menu & their range of liquors and syrups for making cocktails is smaller than I have at home. I really think they are missing out on an opportunity. Virtually every other place we have stayed in this price bracket, actively advertises cocktails.
Excellent variety .well presented , overall a great start to the day
Very quirky. Full of character
No parking!
Amazing, charming, medieval building, lots of nooks an crannies
Quirky,characterful.
Given we were in the middle of a heatwave, the lack of air conditioning was an issue
Very friendly and helpful staff - managed to replace our mini-bar fridge the next day after it gave up in the heat. Fantastic setting in the heart of Dunster, with lots of options for hikes and sightseeing - Cleeve Abbey and Old Cleeve Church were great, as is the Castle, of course. Breakfast was good with lots of choice and service was quick and with a smile.
A little more vegetarian food on the evening menu would be nice.
A gorgeous comfortable hotel with lovely friendly staff, decent food & fab beer garden. Great location for walks & sight seeing. Beautiful village.
Nothing, loved everything.
Beautiful location, very friendly and helpful staff, very nice evening meal, my husband had the roast and I had the pizza, both very good.
A lot of dogs, I do get it’s a dog friendly hotel but I would like an area to eat where dogs are not allowed( not all owners are as good with keeping their dogs away from other people’s tables)
Heerlijke plek, perfecte locatie. Vriendelijk personeel, mooie tuin om in te kunnen zitten. Goed ontbijt en heerlijke diners.
Comfortable room - although a bit hot in this current heatwave. The fan provided helped though. The food (breakfast and dinner) was excellent. Location great. Service couldn't be faulted. Fabulous gardens. Charming building.
The heat! But the weather is not typical ...
Nearly everything, a quirky lovely hotel in a great location
The only downside was the waitress for dinner whose response to every request - including change to an empty table, missing items that were on the menu was “no”. The food was generally excellent but had to send the truly awful cheese course back. No comment was made
food was good & staff were lovely.
We had a meal the evening before, very tasty and staff really attentive, polite and helpful. There was a nice vibe in the bar and outside, live music was a bonus.
Quite expensive to stay here. Night manager a bit grumpy when we woke him up at 2AM....
Lovely setting, room clean and value for mozbey
Breakfast quality could have been better
Excellent
extremely friendly staff, from check-in, to bar staff, and waiters, and in the secret garden hut.. lovely secret garden, nice breakfast
no lift, but luckily on first floor, we have mobility issues, so would be good to know beforehand
Staff were very friendly and helpful Outside garden was wonderful, lots of seating for quests.
As we had a heat wave , we were only given a tiny fan that did nothing to cool us. Maybe stock up on some fans.
Beautiful building and exceptional rooms.
Nothing
Great hotel lovely staff
Good standard
Price
Good selection for breakfast
Bit if confusion after we had a late room swap.
Lovely Room (12). Breakfast Excellent good selection. Hotel facilities and garden lovely
The only thing I didn't like was no car park, pot luck if able to park outside. Stairs very steep
Very authentic with lots of very interesting period feature
Slightly tired in places, in a cosmetic way that wouldn’t actually cost much to fix
Ligging, in het centrum met parkeergelegenheid op korte afstand.
Lovely ambience as always
Room a little tired in places and bed rather uncomfortable
Location Beautiful garden with views of castle
Unfortunately heating was on in our room with temperature hitting 31° outside 🥵🥵🥵
The location was excellent and the hotel had loads of charm and character. Lots of places to sit and unwind, including a fabulous garden area with views of Dunster Castle. Staff were very friendly.
The weather was very hot during our stay and our room was stifling. There was no fan in the room so had to sleep with the sash window wide open to get some air. As the room was next to a road, there was a lot of traffic noise. Our room also looked straight across at another house so we felt very "in view" as there were no nets or blinds on the window.
Very friendly atmosphere
staff could have been a little more switched on when taking orders at breakfast, but they were very friendly so it didnt matter
Everything was amazing. Location, staff, breakfast, the bar area, the secret garden, the evening meals.
Pillows in room 14 were a little flat.
Positively old fashioned. Attentive and friendly staff.
Limited dinner menu but having said that the food was very good.
The breakfast and location were brilliant
Salads offered on the evening menu
The location was perfect in the middle of Dunster village. All the staff were great made you feel right at home. Breakfast was a good choice of hot and fruit yoghurts cereal.
Interesting building and great atmosphere
Nothing
Nice feel ,great staff
Everyone was very kind and helpful. The food was fantastic.
It was quite a trek to our room
Quirkiness
No car park big draw back and almost impossible street parking
We have been before to this property. The service was excellent and the staff are so friendly and we had wonderful few days
Breakfast was excellent
Portions were very large
Loved the quirkiness of the place!
Nothing negative apart from no parking!
Location great very friendly staff
Excellent choices, perfectly cooked, served hot by lovely staff. First class coffee.
I understand that today’s financial situation is a cause for concern but it would have been better if there had been more choices.
Excellent breakfast. Dunster is lovely. This hotel knows how to look after guests with dogs.
Nothing
Everything about the Luttrell Arms was superb. The facilities, staff, food and general ambience oozed quality but without the slightest hint of stuffiness.
An excellent family weekend stay celebrating a milestone birthday across 3 generations. Lovely rooms, attentive staff and great food!
The breakfast was good and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The property is very old and there are lots of steps in the corridors and even inside our room. It was a very convenient location because we were attending a wedding reception held at the hotel.
Parking was a problem.
Luttrell Arms is an amazing place, beautiful, so much history.
There is nothing I don’t like.
Excellent draught beers, food, service and location
The lack of parking might be a challenge in summer months.
Very comfortable hotel with some great history. The staff were welcoming and very helpful. The reception team carried our bags up the stairs to our room.
Not the hotels fault but not many places open in the village but it did make on street parking easy. Most places open for Easter.
Wonderful character and charming staff. Excellent food too
Nothing
Small hotel with a history. Performed well above the 3 star status, with welcoming, pleasant staff. All were helpful and keen to give you the best stay possible. Food selection was good, and well prepared, making for a special evening.
Lack of parking outside the hotel, but only to be expected with such a historic town.
Very welcoming, cosy period rooms with real fires. Great bedroom, very quiet, really comfortable bed. The staff were great, so helpful and chatty. Great choice at breakfast cold and hot.
🤷♀️nothing.
Wonderful hotel and fab staff. So helpful and kind
Loved it all
Excellent staff and really well run hotel
Nothing really
This wonderful gem of a Hotel will not disappoint - the current owners have sympathetically renovated this wonderful old building The staff are extremely friendly and helpful - we are very much looking forward to visiting again
Great location
Parking very easy but a shame they have none. In February it was straightforward but I bet the summer could get tricky. Pillows pillows pillows. Just too soft.
The property was excellent lots of character great location and very comfortable
The building has a lot of history lots of nooks and crannies a lovely atmosphere
We've been coming here through 4 owners and more years than we care to remember and it still has the same relaxed country vibe with friendly staff and comfortable rooms.
The food just doesn't thrill, it's of a reasonable pub standard, and the coffee at breakfast is awful and would be more suitable for fence painting.
An old good cosy country hotel.
Car parking close by was not possible as the few places in high street busy.
The setting and the gardens., the staff were all very friendly and helpful, due to the weather it was very hot, the receptionist was very helpful and offered me her fan for my room 😊
Nothing, I knew parking would be an issue but it wasn’t a problem for me as I was able to park in a locked car park as I was attending a wedding
A very atmospheric old inn, with lovely courtyard and garden, and various cosy nooks in the bar. Worth paying for the room upgrade to get the full experience. The pizzas in the garden were good quality and Sunday roast was good too, but the breakfast was more average. Service when dining was a little variable, but good enough during my visit. Dunster Castle and its gardens was what drew me to this hotel, and it's a lovely quaint little village for 2-3 night breaks, possibly longer if you have a car to make day trips with. The bus journey from Taunton station was fairly long and overcrowded, but that's to be expected during school summer holidays. The EX1 coach trip to Lynton or onward to Ilfracombe is a nice journey with great scenery if you are combining Dunster with Devon. Unfortunately they could not run the open-top buses as the various councils / land owners had not cut back their trees to make it safe on the upper deck.
A little limited on vegetarian options in the bar food menu, service erratic at times, but always friendly. A little more effort on the breakfast menu would be appreciated.
