Beautiful location - lovely bed! Enough space for single or family occupancy. Bath was my favourite.
It was quite dirty, no place to put dishes once washed - no dish washing liquid. Dishes out the cupboard were also dirty (not extremely but did need a clean before use). Ice machine had not been cleaned in a while. There was alot of dirt behind the beds trying to find the plugs for the electric blankets.
Wonderful 2-night stay in a beautifully restored old house, in a peaceful quiet setting. The comfy beds, elective blankets and big fire helped with the very cold nights and early mornings! Excellent communication with the host, very attentive friendly staff. Great location in the tiny town ... we walked everywhere!
Nothing
Location and homely feel.
It was cold, no one to help light fires like year before when it was toasty when you got back from supper. Staff hardly visible. Had to do own dishes.
We have been here before but it still for us is a very special place. The space, facilities and charm makes it very special. Nieu-Bethesda itself adds to the peacefulness of the stay. The fireplace warms up any typical cold morning. And very important for us, it is petfriendly and perfect for our minuture dachshund to run around outside.

Albie was such great help woth bookings, recommendstions etc. Such amazing hospitality! We loved our stay in a beautiful comfortable home!
2 king size beds - rather 1 king and 2 singe beds. Open plan
Everything was fantastic! From the communication with the host (who even offered to make us a dinner reservation), to the INCREDIBLY comfortable bed and pillows, to the amazing Africology toiletries in the bathroom, to the large, soft bathsheet towels. Everything was just luxurious and wonderful!
The water splashes out of the shower but this really can't be helped due to the design. That is the only thing that I was a little worried about.
What a gem ! Beautifully appointed, amazing decor, super comfortable - eclectic hidden beauty in beautiful little town.
Beautiful home and we love the town
It was not clean at all. Outside area hasn’t been swept in for ever. Spiderwebs everywhere. All the cutlery and glasses and dishes we used were dirty and I had to try clean it without sunlight as nothing was left for us. Still had people from before’s food in bread bin. Someone’s shower sponge was left in the shower which is gross. Swimming pool that was advertised as a highlight was extremely dirty and dstv was not working due to non payment of the account. Hosts said the would fix it never came on

Really unique look and very nice and clean. More like an experience than just a stay over😁
Really just good things to say about this place. Awesome people 👏
Beautifully designed with bespoke interiors. Most amazing fire place, love it!!!!!!
Absolutely nothing!!!!
The location is perfect walking distance to all the attractions in town. The hosts are very helpful and considerate. We would highly recommend staying here!
A Memorable Stay at Oude Pastorie's Cottage I wholeheartedly believe that Albert deserves the title of Superhost of the Year. If it were possible to give this cottage a rating of 10 out of 5, I would not hesitate to do so. From the moment we arrived, Albert was incredibly responsive, addressing any questions or needs we had almost immediately. The location of the cottage is nothing short of perfect. Nestled within the expansive gardens of the Oude Pastorie, it offers both beauty and seclusion. With a serene dam-like pool, it’s an ideal spot for relaxed summer days. Furthermore, the cottage boasts its own private entrance, surrounded by walls, ensuring complete privacy. The interior design of the cottage is stunning, showcasing a perfect blend of style and comfort. It is exceptionally well-equipped, featuring excellent linens and towels, as well as the most comfortable and spacious bed we've ever encountered. The verandah is equipped with an electric braai, perfect for outdoor cooking, while the cozy fireplace inside adds a touch of warmth and ambiance. One of the highlights of this establishment is that it is dog-friendly, making it a fantastic choice for pet owners. I can not recommend this cottage highly enough; it truly exceeded our expectations. Due to its popularity in Nieuw Bethesta, I advise you to book in advance to secure your stay in this beautiful cottage. It is truly a hidden gem that offers an unforgettable experience!
This stay was just perfect
Simply beautiful and very comfortable. The fireplace was great to have for those cold nights. Our dachshund also had a great time with a very spacious garden.
The was a minor electrical glitch.
Albert must for sure be voted superhost of the year, and if I could have given this cottage a 10 out of 5 rating, I would've. This host immediately answers his phone with anything you need. The location of the cottage is perfect. The cottage is situated in the big gardens of the Oude Pastorie, but completely secluded. In the garden is a dam like pool for lazy summer days. The cottage has its own entrance and walls around the cottage. The cottage is decorated in a stunning way. Well equipped. Excellent linen and towels and the most comfortable and huge bed we've ever encountered. On the verandah is an electric braai, and on the inside, a cozy fireplace. This establishment is dog friendly. Highly recommended. Make sure to book in advance as this cottage is for sure very popular and very popular in Nieuw Bethesta.
Absolutely nothing to complain about.
Absolutely perfect. Great communication from host, perfectly located, super comfy beds. Shared bathroom can be a little tricky if not with family; barn doors don’t give complete privacy . Will definitely book again and for longer! Thank you again for an awesome stay
Huge garden. Great location. Quiet. Beautiful finishes and comfortable beds.
The kitchen is a small and needs more pots, pans, crockery and cutlery if you are more than 2 people.
The property is a feast for the senses. We actually stayed in de Oude Pastorie after the owner kindly upgraded us. I imagine they both similar and it was a fantastic night - with excellent recommendations for both dinner and breakfast.

Beautifully furnished, comfortable cottage in a beautiful garden with a lovely swimming pool
Stunning house, beautifully decorated with everything you need. Friendly and helpful host.
Spacious, peaceful and authentic
This is one of the most beautifully curated places I’ve stayed. Albert was a great communicator and the onsite staff were fantastic. The swimming pool was a welcome respite from the heat. The house was truly everything we could have hoped for.
The Oude Waenhuis and Pastorie is an oasis in the town of Nieu Bethesda. The decor is out of this world and the swimming pool is amazing after a long drive. The location is perfect.
Stunning accommodation in this very special little town. Beds were super comfy, dinner awesome and the general feel of the house amazing,
The property itself is amazing. We love how you've restored and converted the historical building. As a lover of old maps, I also found the large wall map hanging downstairs to be fascinating.
It was winter, and being an old, stone building, it was a tad chilly. The wood-burning stove was great, though, and once we were snuggled under the blankets, the bedrooms were fine, too.
The cottage is beautifully decorated, the staff were extremely helpful and the garden is big and gorgeous. We really appreciated being able to take our dog with us too.
The kitchen was poorly equipped, I wouldn't like to have to try and cook a meal there. Also a couple of things in the kitchen cupboards had been put away dirty, as had the toothbrush mugs in the bathroom.
Beautiful clean and comfortable house. The interior of the house is very interesting!
The property is immaculate, well maintained, beautiful and interesting, with quirky and interesting artefacts. We would have loved another night there to use more of the facilities offered, perhaps an outdoor braai. We loved the decor it really is beautifully appointed. The attention to detail from the fluffy white towels to the comfort of the bed and the superior linen was outstanding and appreciated. The staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. We were met on site and made to feel welcome and comfortable. The owners were in contact at all times. They even made our dinner reservation for us, which was a lovely touch.
Breakfast Restaurant was not great
This location was within walking distance of restaurants, the Owl House and the Poplar forest. The decor was beautiful and the accommodation was fairly private. Access was very easy and the outdoor area was equipped with a stunning fire pit.
There is an ice machine in the accommodation that makes quite a bit of noise, so we just unplugged this overnight.
Everything about this gem of a place was just perfect! The decor, the amenities, the history, the location everything exceeded our expectations. We can recommend it to anyone looking to rest and recharge in luxury!
Nothing.
This property is exceptionally beautiful and so well presented! The furnishing are of a high quality, the gardens are stunning and it was perfectly clean!

Great location. Old cottage however perfect. Fantastic beds! Host was excellent!
It was beautifully decorated and the garden was truly gorgeous . We liked the privacy and it was in a great location . Tanya was very warm and accommodating. Loved the Bose speaker in the living room . It’s a beautiful property.
There were some old stains on the towels in the bathroom and the bathroom floor flooded with water when we used the bathtub .
We absolutely loved the house. It was gorgeous and well located.
delicious, good menu, service and friendliness
we just had a bit of a mix up with the keys.
Set in a beautifully tranquil garden
Most amazing stay over. This cottage is highly recommended. Most romantic, intriguing place, excellently decorated to resemble the old ambience of a cottage that was converted from an oxwagen shed, built in 1847. The location is excellent and about 5 minutes walk from the Owl house museum and popular restaurants. We were privileged to meet the talented owner Albert. The beds are the most comfortable we've ever slept on. Linen and towels, of outstanding quality. Africology ammenities. Vast open space outside cottage with a large lawn and modern lapa area. The dam like looking pool is super authentic and a real spoil. This property deserves a 10 out of 10.
There was obviously nothing to complain about.Perfect cottage.
Perfect central location, we walked to all the main attractions in town. The Waenhuis has an impeccable aesthetic, beautifully furnished with lots of attention to detail in the facilities inside the room. We were not affected by any load shedding, with the inverter. We enjoyed returning from our town activities to the peaceful garden, watching the sunset. Tanya, Fulvio, and Albert were fantastic hosts, easy to reach, and very welcoming and helpful. We brought our two mini Schnauzers along, who loved to frolic in the garden, and had a safe and secure place to stay when we went exploring around town. We will definitely visit again!
The water, although safe to use and drink, has a very strong sulfur smell.
Gorgeous setting and super comfortable!
Everything was perfect! Loved the little town and all the people we have met.
Warm and friendly reception by Tanja. She is a star. Great attention to detail, luxuriously appointed. Fireplace and carafe with sherry were welcoming on this cold winter’s evening.
Ice machine not needed in winter, it does produce some noise during the night.
