注意熱水開關，不小心關掉會沒熱水，有很多行李箱的話要看是不是二樓的房間，會要爬樓梯

Reviewed Jul 10, 2026The facilities exceeded our expectations and the hosts were amazing. Chose this for historical character and kitchen facilities and were not disappointed. Can walk everywhere from here and the hosts were amazing. We loved our stay and would suit couples or families, with kitchen facilities and big back yard. Will definitely stay again if in Oamaru!

Reviewed Jun 2, 2026Great location, fabulous view, adorable courtyard, and super friendly hosts! Older place, but well maintained, and very nice decor. Had all you need in the kitchen, and was very spacious.
Beds could be a bit softer (maybe think about a mattress topper?) but then I have a very soft bed at home! A mirror in the master bedroom could be useful for putting on makeup so you don't hog the bathroom. Saw a spider, but couldn't find any flyspray to deal with it.

Reviewed May 5, 2026I booked this for my family and they absolutely loved it. The place was spotless, comfortable, and very private. The hosts were incredibly kind and welcoming. The house has amazing private collection with eastern atomsphere. Everything went smoothly and my family all believe it is the best apartment they ever stayed — highly recommended.

Reviewed Dec 18, 2025It's quite a surprising experiance. Greg and Katty are very warm and kind people, they have a very beautiful garden just outside the apartment. The apartment is just next door to the church and very close to the SteamHQ and the white stone city. The decoration of the room is a bit antique in a good way, and meanwhile with all the facilities that mordern life need.
The room is on the second floor. You need to go upstairs through the garden. A bit hard for people with heavy luggage.

It was also great as it was in close proximity to everything we found this handy as we could walk to everything. Whilst the accommodation was great I found Omaru not a very friendly town. The hosts of this property were the exception of course.
I don't think I would stay in Omaru again as the people were not really friendly. We have travelled through many towns on our road trip and this is the only town that we had felt like this.

Just a minor thing really, one room only has a roof window which can't be opened. But we just left the door open over night for some air All good.

Reviewed Oct 28, 2025A quirky property with everything you need, with a lovely garden that you walk through to get to the apartment. It's very close to the Victorian quarter and a lot of cafe's and restaurants to choose from, so we walked everywhere, which was great. The main bedroom was fantastic with a lovely view over the historic part of the city, the bed was beautiful, with just the right firmness and great bedding.
Unfortunately my partner who slept in the other room (because snoring...) found the bed less comfy in there and the skylight woke him up pretty early, which was a shame because everything else was great.

Loved the view to the old Oamaru precinct buildings and the beautiful garden courtyard out the back. We could walk to dinner, and explore on foot. We would love to have stayed longer. Highly recommend The Whitfield for an Oamaru stay.

Although they have a smart TV with Netflix etc, the internet was too slow to actually stream NetFlix without very frequent pauses/buffering. But I was able to do a zoom video call quite successfully.
