Really nice place in a great location with friendly hosts.

Uncomfortable pillows, they are the overfilled ones which look great but aren't comfy for most people.

Echt alles was perfect ! Bijzonder vriendelijke uitbaters. Niets is hen teveel. We werden verwend met welkomstdrankjes met koekjes. We kregen ook nog koffie en fruit na de trekking. Ook voor de trekking kregen we koekjes en warme drank. Het uitzicht is fenomenaal. De kamers zijn smaakvol ingericht. Heerlijke bedden! Goede douche. De trekking tour naar Mount Batur is bijzonder goed geregeld tegen een zacht prijsje. We deden de lange tour en hebben hier absoluut geen spijt van. Alles wordt voorzien: transport, wandelstokken, hoofdlamp, gids, ontbijt op de top met warme drank, fruit onderweg en bezoek koffieplantage.

Viel Ausblick auf die Berge.

Gastgeber nahm uns beim Check-in im Empfang, gab uns wesentliche Informationen inklusive seiner whatsapp-nummer und verschwand für den Rest unserer Zeit. Morgens kam eine Frau die das Frühstück zubereitete und mäßig Englisch sprach. Trotz Bergblick war die Lage sehr unangenehm: extrem schwierige Zufahrt ca 1 km von der nächsten richtigen Straße, nur ein Restaurant im Resort nebenan erreichbar. Mehrere Fragen per WhatsApp an den abwesenden Gastgeber wurden nicht hilfreich beantwortet. Sehr ungünstige Lage war auch mit Google Maps und Satellit nicht erkennbar, da drumherum eine Reihe weiterer Gebäude stehen. Abgesehen von Steigung und Entfernung landete man nach ca 1 km auf einer engen schlechten aber viel befahrenen steilen landstraße, die man besser im Dunkeln nicht begehen sollte. Auch dort weder Geschäfte noch Restaurants in der Näh. Wir sind umgezogen und haben uns ein Quartier 3 km weiter unten am Berg genommen. Leider sind am Ort fahrdienste wie Grab und Gojek verboten und die örtliche Taxi Mafia berechnet für 3 km nach Feilschen 100k, gut dass dreifache des sonst üblichen. Leider konnten wir mit Gepäck die bergstrecke nicht zu Fuß zurücklegen.

Siamo arrivati la sera tardi e i proprietari ci stavano aspettando! Fino dal primo momento sono stati gentilissimi e servizievoli. Ci hanno prenotato l’escursione al vulcano e la proprietaria mi ha dato un paio di scarpe per andare perché io non ce le avevo. Ci hanno accompagnato alle 3:30am in macchina al punto di partenza dell’escursione e una loro staff ci ha fatto da guida tutta l’escursione. Al ritorno ci sono venuti a riprendere e avevano la buonissima colazione pronta perché poi potevamo andare a dormire un paio di ore. La camera è grandissima e comodissima! Il posto è meraviglioso con un giardino che sembra disegnato da un designer famoso. Ci hanno coccolato come dei figlioli e sono stati molto amichevoli. Il prezzo è bassissimo per i servizi che offrono! Consiglio a tutti di andare qui! Sarà l’esperienza più bella della vostra vita! Grazie 🙏

The amount of fly is crazy. But I think it’s the whole area. Make sure you eat inside, and keep the doors shut during daytime when the flies are out. At night it’s fine.

The accommodation can be a little hard to locate as doesn’t appears on Google maps and is found down a small track.

The nature view

The bedsheets were covered with dead insects, bathroom had rusted stains, bathroom window didnt have screen so the insects go in the main room, everything were dusty. Toilet paper had dead insects stains. It wouldve been a better rating if they cleaned the room prior to arriving.

Beautiful location, Batur view from the room, nice design, hot shower, nice breakfast, kind staff! All was just perfect! Grateful! Thank you for everything!

I'm traveling around the country for the a lot time, and I've stayed at this location many times before. We were able to find a place like this because we made a last-minute reservation. At the entrance, they asked us to pay again. We argued about it, even getting angry and fighting due to travel fatigue. We booked a room, but they said we had to book two rooms because I came with my girlfriend. We were constantly disturbed during our two-day stay, with people constantly calling and knocking on the door to sell us various tour packages. We left the room as soon as we found another place, since we were only using the house to sleep. It was an extremely awful place for two days, and we froze at night. We were exhausted from fighting the flies. The breakfast was infested with flies. The person preparing the food had cut the fruits without washing the knife. The fruits tasted strange. It tasted more like onions.

Además de la comodidad y tranquilidad de la habitación, lo mejor fue la atención de su propietaria que nos recibió de forma muy amable. El desayuno muy rico y con opciones para cenar en el porche para disfrutar del entorno.

La carretera de acceso no es la más fácil, pero son dos tramos cortos y vale la pena alojarse a los pies del monte Batur.

Service de qualité , excursion au volcan parfaitement organisé et excellent rapport qualité prix. On se sent vraiment dépaysé !

Difficile d’accès pour reprendre un GRAB au retour

Le lieu est idéal pour la randonnée du Mont Batur. Personnel très serviable !

La literie était très bonne, très confortable. Une vue magnifique avec la grande baie vitrée du logement.

Ouverture dans la salle de bain qui laisse passer les moustiques et malheureusement il y avait des nombreuses mouches à l’extérieur du logement.

Chambre super agréable très belle avec une belle salle de bain. Très propre. Vue magnifique Personnel aux petits soins !

Cottages meravigliosi, solo 3, nella zona alta in un piccolo villaggio immerso in mezzo a coltivazioni di cipolle e cavoli. Qui puoi assaporare la vita autentica dei balinesi che nonostante la povertà riescono a regalarti sorrisi. La stanza è molto confortevole, con vetrate scorrevoli, letto matrimoniale molto comodo e anche l’arredamento molto carino.. ha tutti i comfort per poter trascorrere qualche notte. I proprietari sono persone meravigliose, molto dolci ed ospitali. La cena, se non volete mangiare nell’area esterna, vi viene servita in camera (il menú è molto ampio ed il cibo molto buono). Per la colazione potete scegliere fra omelette, pancake ecc serviti con frutta fresca e pane + 1 bevanda a scelta tra calda o fredda. Panorama fantastico, silenzio e pace regnano in questi cottages. Consiglio vivamente questo posto, meraviglioso ad un prezzo irrisorio

Unica nota dolente ma è un problema diffuso in tutto il Kintamani, non legato alla struttura, è la presenza massiccia di mosche fastidiose (spariscono solo la sera)

The cute, boho-style rooms with a view of Mount Batur & the absolutely lovely hosts ♡ Breakfast was freshly prepared every morning & was included in the price. Bali Kopi & tea were for free. The outdoor area by the kitchen was cozy to sit & linger. The food was always very tasty & fresh.

A second comforter would have been nice & a set of face towels also.

The location was amazing, definitely a highlight of the experience. Surrounded by mountains and so peaceful. I’ll surely be back, whether with friends, my partner, or even alone. The facilities were beyond my expectations. The staff made everything easy for us, super helpful. We got hungry a bit earlier than dinner time, but they can made food at any time! Enjoy the view from my room attached!

I was a bit unfortunate to have had a rude neighbour, but it had nothing to do with the property or the staff. It was an amazing experience!

Location is a bit difficult to get anywhere - Grab app doesn’t work here and in the general area they overcharge on local taxi. So better to rent a scooter if you want to go around. Lots of flies - unavoidable.

just perfect. room is very cozy and clean. you’ll wake up to the beautiful mountain view in the morning and have a cup of coffee while enjoying the sound of birds chirping. staff is very helpful as well. when you need something they message you back quickly and help you. there is a restaurant at villa serving foods for very reasonable prices and there are also a could of restaurants nearby so you always have something to eat.

The view and location are absolutely stunning, surrounded by breathtaking nature. We loved the serene atmosphere. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and both the room and the bathroom were beautifully designed. What truly stood out, however, was the exceptional warmth and friendliness of the hosts – they made our stay unforgettable.

Beautiful rooms, very quiet location and very friendly & sweet hosts. Definitely recommend this place and remember it for the next time :) Just be aware, that it is quite on the country side and the road is bumpy.

Very nice and reasonably priced accommodation in a rural setting in Bali. The hosts are super nice and helpful, even gave me a ride to a local thermal prong for free! Definitely recommend.

The location is a little off the beaten path - might also be a plus, depending on what one wants. Many flies in the rainy season, but that is the truth in the whole area.

The owners are amazing, friendly, welcoming and helpful. They have a wonderful place, very beautiful and very well maintained. We booked the tour to Mount Batur with them and everything went well and serve us some pancakes before. They also helped us with the driver to Amed. Thanks for everything.🙏

Simple and local with lovely welcoming hosts! Nice decor in the rooms and a great view of the surrounding mountains

We stayed at this beautiful accommodation for 3 nights and we couldn’t get enough of the view. Waking up in the morning with Mt. Batur and Mt. Abang was astonishing. The hosts (Mario and Ranting) were very nice and always made us feel at home. Whether you want to do Mt. Batur hike (start point is a 3 min scooter ride from the accommodation), get a driver to take you somewhere, wash your clothes or even get a massage at the accommodation, both Mario and Ranting will arrange it for you. The accommodation has a restaurant, and let us tell you the food was delicious and affordable, so it was not necessary for us to leave the accommodation at all. Our stay included breakfast, and the omelet was delicious, served with a fruit portion. The honey chicken and mujair nyat nyat (if you like spicy) were the best dishes on the menu in our opinion. We had the chance to cook a local fish dish (mujair nyat nyat) with Ranting, this was definitely our favourite part of the stay! And by the way, they grow their own onions, tomatoes and chillies around the accommodation!

There are a bunch of flies because all of Kintamani is full of agricultural lands, you can’t avoid it. It’s not only at the accommodation. You get used to it :)

The room was very clean en comfortable. The vieuw is amazing! Also, de owner and his wife are very kind en friendly people. There always be there for you, if you need something! You can do the hike to the mount Batur from this place.

A well priced & varied dinner menu, unfortunately our favourite chicken satays were not available. Lovely decor in the villas, clean & fresh, very comfortable bed. This property of three villas is still a work in progress, establishing lawns & gardens, adding a swimming pool in the future. This couple are doing a great job at creating a property that they should be very proud of. Beautiful views.

Breakfast although tasty could be a little more generous. Suggest adding a second piece of toast & also some butter & spreads such as honey & jam. Please include Tea/Coffee & Juice not just allow a choice of one or the other. Juice could also be served in a bigger glass with ice. Fruit portion was not enough for three people to share. Last night I ordered a pancake for dessert, unfortunately it was undercooked & chewy.

It feels brand new, clean, and very private. They only have 3 rooms so far. Their yard is what I like the most. You can see the mountain from the room. Soaking up the sun in the morning at the yard while enjoying my cappuccino was very memorable. They also helped me to arrange the mount batur trekking trip, very recommended! Their nasi goreng was very yummy! They also have a very cute cat as a front desk 😆

Their water pressure was a lil bit weak (understandable because it's very far from the city)

New, beautifully decorated bungalow, comfortable bed. Amazing views, peaceful and quiet. The hosts are the kindest, warmest and most welcoming! I had a wonderful stay at Hillside and will definitely come back!

The food was amazing, loved their family restaurant, also a beautiful location nestled in the hillside and amongst the clouds. We had traveled quite a long way, so the bathroom facilities and a hot shower were great, especially after doing the Mount Batur hike that next morning.

They kindly told us about the flys because it is near agricultural land, so just had to get used to that and remember to shut the doors :)

Mario and his wife are starting this homestay with all their efforts and dedication. You notice it from the decoration in the rooms, the cleanness of the place but most importantly the time that they take to welcome you, to explain all you need, to serve double breakfast (just bfore leaving for the trek at sunrise and after coming back from the volcano), to offer you his personal motorbike if you have a problem… We stayed just one short night bfore ascending the mount batur, but we appreciated their kindness and we found it a perfect base to have a rustic yet qualitatif rest bfore the trek to the summit.

Could be a little bit cleaner in the bathroom

Mario and his wife were very friendly and helpful. As soon as we arrived, they offered us hot tea and pancakes, since it was quite cold and we had arrived late. They were attentive at all times and always available for anything we needed. The place itself is very cozy, clean, and beautifully adorned. It has everything you need to make your stay very pleasant. The bed was the most comfortable we found throughout our entire trip in Asia. The views are incredible, and the breakfast was very good with many options to choose from. Good Wifi. After reading the reviews about flies, we were a little worried, but we didn't find it that annoying. The biggest problem is when you eat something outside in the sun. That's why we enjoyed our breakfast inside, but with unbeatable views of the outside. :) Without any doubt, we highly recommend this place! And we wish you good luck with your new place! You really deserve it! :)

The only drawback is the road, especially the last part, which is a bit complicated and bumpy. However, if you go slowly, you can manage it without any problem on a scooter. The views and the tranquility of the place make it worthwhile. :)

Mario and Ranting are super friendly and welcome. When we got problem, they fixed and helped us right away. We booked the Mt.Batur sunrise tour which was great, especially the tour guide Wi who is young, but full of experience. I can't wait staying at Hillside again. By the way, they got the best bed that we have slept in two weeks bali trip.

Very nice place to stay if you are planning to do the mt batur tour, close to start point and owners will help organize the tour for you ☺️ the owners are married couple and are the nicest people on the planet ! No air con or fan and the bathroom needs a little upgrading (smelly) but not something you cannot handle

The owner is super polite and everything is new, the mattress quality and bedding are excellent and the decorations are classy

The hosts were wonderful, very helpful and friendly. They helped us organise every trip from there to: Mont Batur, Batur Hot Springs and Coffee Plantations. The room is beautiful and the view is breathtaking, everything is super clean the room is really spacious and the bed is really comfortable.

One of the down side is that the walls are not very insulated so it’s really noisy at night and in the morning.

Perfect for 1 night to do the sunrise hike in the morning, all organised by the hosts. Lovely large nicely decorated rooms. Hosts were very kind and helpful. Nice breakfast.

The family hosting us was very nice, they arranged everything for us : taxi pick up, guide to climb mont Batur with drop off and breakfast at the top, drove us to hot springs… Their rooms are brand new with confortable bedding and nice decoration. Very clean room and bathroom. We felt very welcomed!

Hillside Bali is truly a hidden gem. If you are tired of busy south coast head to the North and experience some real Bali. Mario and his wife were one of the modest and kind people we met on our travels and I really wish everyone to experience their endless hospitality. The two villas are brand new and offering everything you need. Bed and linen are 5* hotel quality and everything is crystal clear. We felt really welcomed and honestly happy we could support some local owners. Mario can organize a guide to Mt. Batur, motorbike rental or cheaper tickets to the hot springs.

Very clean room and sheets, clean ensuite toilet for each room with hot water. Comfortable poufs inside the room for lounging on out of the sun and away from the daytime flies. The property is situated amidst farmland so you can walk around and see lots of fresh local vegetables being grown. The view from the yard is stunning when the clouds part. A small warung is just behind the property and portions are generous.

Kintamani in general has a lot of flies in the daytime due to the presence of farmland. It isn’t an issue specific to the property but it does make it hard to sit outside to have a meal in the daytime.

The road of location

Great, brand new accommodation with beautiful views of Batur and the surrounding mountains. The hosts are really nice. Although there is no restaurant (yet), the room service is good quality and honestly priced. Nice excursions possible to Gn. Batur, Bukit Trunyan, Pinggan, ...

The last bit of road takes a bit of skill to get up the hill

I had a wonderful stay at Hillside Bali. Mario and his wife are so friendly and accommodating. He is also very knowledgable in the area and happy to share information. He booked my Mount Batur sunrise volcano climb too which was amazing. The accommodation itself is so modern and clean with a beautiful outlook towards the mountains. The bed was super comfortable and perfect after a long day exploring! Highly recommend Hillside to everyone!

Everything was amazing!!

Love the outdoor grass area, very quaint, quiet away from the crowd. We even played some frisbee! Staff is very attentative and even helped booked us with a private tour guide up mount batur!

Many flies might be good to invest in insect killer uv light. But this issue goes away at night when the temperature dips and there's no more flies.

Mario and his wife are really amazing and kind. The location of the bungalow is perfect, since you can see all 3 volcanos around. Once you reached the location up the hill you are in paradise. You can see both sunrise and sunset from there. The bungalow is very clean and beautifully designed. Breakfast was always tasty. Moreover they also have a menu for affordable and delicious dinner/lunch. We can particularly recommend the grilled fish. Overall we strongly recommend you to pick this beautiful family owned homestay.

The road to reach the place was steep and bumpy (dirt path) and coming with a scooter was terrifying. Chickens and sounds of people in nearby rooms wakes you up really early in the morning.
