Lovely big room, loved the decor.
Was central clean and modern.
A hum and buzz from plant in the attic all night.
Location was great
Amazing facilities, beautiful linen, extremely clean
Good sizes room very clean and comfy
Staff and hotel rooms are exceptional. This hotel is right in the middle of Mether Tydfill. Shops, restaurants and pubs close by. Short walk to the transport link which covers all destinations locally and further afield.
Nothing not to like.
There’s no reception area, but the staff were always easy to contact, flexible and very helpful. Highly recommended.
The only thing I would have liked was air conditioning.
It was well decorated, comfortable and very clean.
It was very good.
Location
We where on the top floor of 4 storeys with no lift
The Howfield is located minutes away from the train station. Everything was clean and the hotel relatively new so everything was in perfect order.
If you are staying on the third floor, there isn’t a lift so carrying heavy luggage up three floors is a workout.
Centre of town and in clean good order
Nothing. It was functional
Very easy to book. Very good communications. Excellent location.
Nothing.
Contemporary and stylish bedroom. Good communication and excellent location.
Very well finished inside, contemporary and very comfortable.
I initially walked past the door as google maps showed the address to be further up the street.
Nichts
Great location - right in the town centre so very close to restaurants for an evening meal. Stayed there for one night when visiting Brecon Beacons. Room was lovely.
Room was spacious, clean and tidy
Response to a question at the staff if the stay was answered on the last day.
I stayed here while visiting the Brecon Beacons with my dog, and the location was ideal for exploring the area. I was in Room 7, which was spacious, clean, and comfortable. It was a lovely touch that the hotel provided dog bowls for my dog, which made us both feel welcome. The only thing I felt was missing was a fridge in the room. It would have been useful, but it certainly wasn’t a deal-breaker. Merthyr Tydfil itself felt a little rough in, and I found it surprising that most of the coffee shops didn’t open until 9am, which was later than I would have liked. For dinner if you’re happy to drive 30–40 minutes, there are some fantastic country pubs and restaurants nearby. There’s also a retail park round the corner from the hotel with a good selection of restaurants if that’s more your style. Cardiff is only around a 30-minute drive away and is definitely worth a visit. Overall, I had a pleasant stay and would recommend the hotel as a good base for exploring the Brecon Beacons and South Wales.
The property is clean. Rooms well laid out and good amenities.
It is a staff-less property i.e. no reception, so no real way of contacting someone for extras such as an iron, coffee, etc
Central to the town. Easy self check in. Stunning decor. Very good reccomendations
There was limited air flow and no air con, I visited in a heatwave so unfortunately the fan only circulated warm air. No mini fridge either to keep drinks cool. No peep hole on the door or additional latch to lock from the inside only, as a solo female traveller this would have added a sense of safety
Right in the middle of the town. Very clean.
You're not told about the stairs and we were glad we were on the first floor.
Lovely clean room with central location
The sky light blind would not close properly so the room was very light all night
Location was great for what we needed, just a bit rough. Litter on the streets and people hanging around near the hotel entrance.
The hotel itself was great, easy to do In all ways. Just wish the shower was slightly bigger.
Very modern and clean, staff very helpful
Not very hot water in the shower
You know when they say pictures tell a story well these pictures in the advert are definitely true to the eye in person with what the hotel is and far more because this hotel is exceptional beyond what I expected it to be 👌 being on a high street the only thing I would’ve changed is the parking 🅿️ it was a few minutes walk in the rain ☔️ but don’t let that put you off because you won’t be disappointed in what your greeted with once in side. Even the hallways are absolutely stunning and spotlessly clean and cleverly designed and tastefully decorated as was my room and the bed was comfortable too and beautiful made up 🙂
Nothing that I didn’t like with the property it’s self. I didn’t take any photos only a video and it’s shame booking.com won’t let me up load a video because I thought a video would really show it off with the cosy lighting and tasteful decor 😍🤌
Clean comfortable
Stairs
Nothing
Awful area, promoted as hotel but you actually need codes to get through gates and self access keys, details were not sent prior to stay, called the venue for access, was promised to be sent details - walked 10 mins from nearest carpark with luggage in the rain, waited outside for 15 mins - no txt, couldn’t access hotel - had to book another hotel 45 mins away in Cardiff and was still charged and refused refund. Appalling service - avoid at all costs
Nice decor
No hot water My room wasn’t cleaned even though I put the sign on my door
I didn't get to find out
I was apparently meant to receive an email with the room and code on it but never did. Didn't realise until I got there. Spent ages looking at the emails I received to look for the room number and code and so did the person I was with. Tried calling a mobile number left and it just cut off without ringing so just got fed up and didn't stay there the night and stayed at friends.
easy to get keys 🔑 explain very helpful
room on first floor
Good value, good location, helpful staff
Great location, not noisy despite being on the high street. Bed was huge and super comfortable, shower was great, room was beautiful and very clean on arrival.
Booked and paid and turned up with the wrong room
The fact we had wrong room for our anniversary

Totally new finishes; elegantly furnished; very clean; close to town.
Nothing
A really great place — clear instructions for the entrance and parking, everything easy to follow. The location is excellent, right in the centre, with a huge Tesco store next door. The room was comfortable and clean.
The room was nice. Location isn't overly pleasant
We asked for a twin and didn't get this. Even though it was confined.
Convenient for Brecon, no staff but messaged easy details , room ready and clean , great shower good bed, great cafe downstairs in the haystack
Stairs are pretty steep but that’s it
Location
None
Great location. Clean and comfortable stay.
Immaculate entrance and room.
No reception or bar
Perfect location for a weekend in Merthyr Tydfil. Very easy to access the hotel despite no reception area. Plenty of space, great shower and close to all the local pubs and restaurants.
Pillows were too hard
The rooms were modern, clean and comfortable.
The WIFI too slow to work. Could not access anything. Once in the shower, very difficult to get out, I had to release my wife from it 😊
Amazing huge bath in room 5, stunning interior decor, great location. Key codes very easy to use
Really central, just walking distance from train station and car park. Room was big and clean and very modern
It's all self service so no one to greet you or explain where to find for instance extra tea or coffee. Room was freezing and heater not working properly. Kettle wasn't working properly and again, no one to tell. Sink in bathroom was tiny so every time it was used, water splashed everywhere
Appears freshly refurbished. Lovely rooms and so clean . Ideal location for what was planned that evening. Little hiccup on arrival but staff sorted within 10 minutes and very helpful.
Stairs are a little steep if carrying a large case. But very minor niggle
Really lovely room, beautifully decorated and beds were very comfortable. Lovely ensuite with toiletries. Ample tea and coffee. Perfect for our stay.
If i had to nit pick, a hook near the bath/Shower for your towel would have been useful as Towel rail wasn't within reach. But that really is the only negative
Excellent location,
The room was amazing and extremely clean. Perfect sized room with plenty of space, bowls and cat bed provided was a really nice touch
Nothing
Nothing it was awful location rough
The street was awful a massive dive the walls were so thin you could hear people talking coughing and walking around I would NEVER EVER GAKE MH WIFE THERE AGAIN IN FACT WE ENDED UK LEAVKNC AFYER 20 MINUTES AND BOOKED A PREMIERE INN INSTEAD SO IT WOULD BE GOOD IF YOU OFFERED A REFJND
Nothing. Location was dreadful, not a hotel - just a building with rooms and expensive for what was offered. Just awful.
Location was dreadful, not a hotel - just a building with rooms and expensive for what was offered.
No breakfast available
Being disabled going up stairs even though we were moved to first floor that we requested originally
Clean, quiet and great location.
Everything was great. A small fridge in the room would be a bonus though.
Everything was great. Great room decor, big comfy beds, choice of pillows and central location on the high street. Smooth self check in process.
Clean and modern
Locatie in centrum
The hotel is brand new with good fixtures and fittings. Being in the town centre and right next to Merthyr train station is a positive for easy access to Cardiff Central. Haystack Cafe and Coco's cafe nearby for good coffee and breakfast.
Lack of breakfast deal with the accomodation. It would be good if you could link in with Haystacks to offer a breakfast with the accomodation. I cannot drive so without a car, there are little options for an earlier breakfast
beautiful room, lovely and clean would 100% recommend and would love to return
nothing
Comfortable bed. Good shower. Nice decor
Did not receive instructions. There is no reception person all done by phone and SMS. Strange entrance and room access systems. The room access key safe did not work took 30 minutes to sort out. The entrance to the hotel was just a single door with no clear signage
Perfect location in the city centre, close to the bus station and railway station. Nice design of rooms. The big radiator in the bathroom and adjustable temperature of the radiator in the bedroom.
Stylish, well maintained rooms. Perfect for a night or two
The rooms were immaculate and comfy beds all the facilities required
Everything was fine
Only negative was the stairs, which I knew about after I had booked. Very steep and lack of hand rails on some parts
Room and facilities very good. Access? Disappointed you may offer a luxury room but access is not what you would expect too many difficult steps . Your advice on dining out very good.
Was nice but more like a air b&b Was like like the wild west outside in the evening
Room it's self was very nice
No lift and have issue with hips so struggled on the stairs. No parking available, no staff on site if help was needed. Area hotel is based in not great at all.
Situated in the town of Mether, access to all facilities in the town, and bus routes to places near by. The rooms are of a high standard and very comfortable.
Nothing not to like
Clean and well presented, easy to access and in a central location. Breakfast cafe below was very nice. Had a very comfortable stay.
Very spacious and well equipped.
Very clean and cozy. The soaps were amazing and the decor was great!
Noise from the street, but thats not the fault of the hotel.
Great decor and very comfortable bed
Clean room and bathroom
No reception. No on site staff
