Great in very multi cultural shaved rooms and single rooms location is awesome just in the age of the town in the middle of everything but far inuf from the noisy main street. Great breakfast!

La struttura si trova in ottima posizione anche per spostarsi a piedi per A Bay. L'area comune ci è piaciuta e lo staff è stato molto gentile. La nostra camera era confortevole e abbiamo apprezzato anche il piccolo patio esterno.

La nostra camera era un po' troppo buia e la colazione potrebbe essere migliorata.

Everything was perfect - from the staff extremely nice and supportive at all times; to the room, perfectly clean and comfortable; with big bathroom and hang out sunbeds outside on the little private terrace. The place is divided between hostel and hotel and you get to socialize with travelers from everywhere in the world during the social dinner (every Sunday night!). The breakfast is incredibly good, with various options and they offer fresh coffee and juice on top. You are literally looked after from start to finish (they even have a filtered water fountain where you can feel your bottles!).

Wir wurden sehr herzlich begrüsst. Das Personal war sehr zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit, z.B. haben sie uns geholfen Touren und Surflektionen zu buchen. Die Anlage ist sehr gepflegt und das Hostel ist gemütlich, ruhig und familär. Auch der Kaffee und das Frühstück waren sehr lecker und frisch zubereitet. Wir haben uns wirklich sehr wohl gefühlt und würden diese Unterkunft wieder buchen.

Wir wurden super herzlich begrüßt, haben ganz viele tolle Tipps und Empfehlungen bekommen und das Frühstück war auch top! Wir wurden sogar nicht zum Family Dinner am Sonntag eingeladen, obwohl wir gar nicht mehr im Agra gewohnt haben!

Die Bäder könnten schöner sein, erfüllen aber ihren Zweck :)

Wir hatten eine tolle Zeit im Agra. Die Mitarbeiter sind freundlich und herzlich. Es herrscht eine offene und entspannte Atmosphäre. Beim Frühstück kann man sich mit anderen Reisenden austauschen wenn man möchte. Es gab sogar einen leckeren Cappuccino aus der Siebträger Maschine zum Frühstück das hatten wir in Sti Lanka nur dort. Ausserdem gibt kostenloses Wasser welches selbst aufgefüllt werden kann. Man kann aus 4 verschiedenen Frühstücks Optionen wählen. Und haben alle super gut geschmeckt! Das Agra ist ruhig gelegen, man ist in wenigen Minuten am Strand und an der Hauptstraße. Das Zimmer war sauber, hatte einen Kühlschrank und Klimaanlage. Das Bad war sehr groß. Das Bett war bequem.

Dieses Hostel passt perfekt zu dem Ort. Man entschleunigt richtig. Nalaka ist unfassbar sympathisch und man kann ihn alles fragen. Sensationelles Frühstück und an Sonntagen gibt es sogar kostenloses Abendessen für alle.

Wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt in einem der Private rooms. Sie sind super ausgestattet, verfügen über eine eigene kleine Terasse und die Betten sind sehr bequem. Alles war sauber, das Frühstück sehr sehr lecker und das Personal ebenfalls super!

Agra is a really lovely chilled environment. The hangout space was a lovely place to eat breakfast, with incense burning and chilled tunes. The staff here are all stand out, incredibly friendly and were checking in to see if we wanted our room cleaned or if we needed any more supplies. I also want to say how great it is that they supply a drinking water fountain, we haven't had that at any other hotel on our trip.

Their accommodation is effectively two parts, a hostel and guesthouse. The people staying in the hostel were all very social with each other, but not very warm to us staying in the double rooms. Nobody said hello at breakfast unless you sat on a communal table. Not a reflection on the accommodation itself, but affected how we felt within the accommodation. Also WiFi is not great, we often had to go to coworking spaces to be able to use WiFi stably. Pi

Super saubere Zimmer, Lage gut, abseits der Hauptstraße und nur ein paar Minuten zum Strand. Sehr nettes Personal.

Saubere Zimmer, sehr freundliches und aufmerksames Personal, das uns sogar bei einem Kreditkartenproblem geholfen hat. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker und der Kaffee der beste, den wir in Sri Lanka hatten.

Zeitweise gab es Probleme mit der Klimaanlage, die nicht immer ausreichend gekühlt hat. Nachts funktionierte sie jedoch meist gut. Das Badezimmer war sauber, könnte aber eine Renovierung vertragen. Ein Ventilator auf der privaten Terrasse wäre ebenfalls eine sinnvolle Ergänzung, da diese bei den Temperaturen sonst kaum nutzbar ist.

Wir wurden von Anfang an sehr herzlich empfangen mit einer Königskokosnuss. Das Frühstück ist wirklich super lecker! Jeden Tag konnte man neu entscheiden zwischen Banana Pancakes oder Porridge, beides super lecker und immer frisch mit Früchten serviert! Man konnte auch zwischen zwei Sri Lankischen Frühstückalternativen wählen. Dazu gab es bei jedem Frühstück immer einen frischen leckeren Smoothie und entweder Tee oder Kaffee (sogar Kaffee mit Kokosnussmilch war möglich!). Die Zimmer sind mit allem ausgestattet, was man benötigt (es gab auch einen Föhn!). Die Klimaanlange war auch goldwert bei den tropischen Temperaturen. Nalaka war ein sehr zuvorkommender Gastgeber und interessiert sich sehr für seine Gäste. Generell ist dieses Hotel ein Wohlfühlort mit tollen Gästen und man hat das Gefühle direkt ein Teil einer Gemeinschaft zu sein. Die Lage ist auch super! Man ist in max 10 Minuten überall und da wir auch dort waren zum surfen, war alles super erreichbar. Nalaka hat uns die Surfschule von Krish empfohlen (absolute Herzensempfehlung auch von uns!) und wir waren wirklich begeistert. Wir würden am liebsten 1000 Sterne vergeben. Danke Nalala für alles 🫶🏻❤️

Nalaka is a great host and made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. We stayed in a private room, which was spacious and very clean. The breakfast was amazing, and the room was cleaned regularly with fresh towels provided often — they even give you beach towels. Nalaka manages the place wonderfully and really makes you feel at home. He also hosted a family dinner for everyone at the hostel, which was such a nice experience. I would definitely choose to stay here again if I come back to Arugam Bay.

War alles perfekt

Nalaka and his team have a wonderful property that feels more like a home than a hotel. Their breakfast is the best we have had in Sri Lanka! Apart from the exceptional hospitality, the quality of our room was cozy and quiet.

We hebben echt een heerlijk verblijf gehad ik dit hostel. Zowel in de privé kamer geslapen als in de mixed form en beide kamers waren echt top. De eigenaar is echt onwijs lief en helpt je echt met alles en is zeer betrokken bij al zijn gasten. Het ontbijt, wat inclusief was, was echt heel lekker!! De locatie was echt perfect. Al met al echt een heel fijn verblijf gehad!!

Nothing to say - everything was great.

The hotel is located very centrally only 200 meters from the beach. Still it’s very quiet. It is very well maintained with lots if love for details. It is also very clean and offers all you need. Breakfast is also very nice,healthy and big portions. I even had the honour to be invited for dinner at new years which, as a solo traveller, is highly appreciated. He was also very helpful in helping me organize my further trip. The owner and his team are doing a great job. And I can only highly recommend it.

We had a fantastic time at Agra Arugambay! Our host and the whole staff was incredibly helpful. The breakfast was always delicious, especially the banana pancakes and the porridge! They also cooked a meal for us, which was one of the best we had on our whole trip in Sri Lanka!

The owner was beyond kind. In addition the place is clean and well maintained and very well thought out, lights and sockets each side of bed, kettle, hairdryer etc…. Breakfast choice was a little different too with western and Sri Lankan options and huge portions and homemade banana cakes!!

Das Zimmer mit der Veranda war wirklich groß und schön eingerichtet. Es war sauber und wurde alle zwei Tage komplett gereinigt. Wir waren begeistert von dem tollen Personal, total gastfreundlich und es wurde oft nachgefragt, ob wir noch etwas brauchen. An einem Abend gab es sogar ein kostenloses ‚Family Dinner‘ für alle Gäste mit leckeren Sri Lankanischen Gerichten. Absolut empfehlenswert!!

Wir hätten uns über etwas mehr Auswahl beim Frühstück gefreut aber das ist Kritik auf hohem Niveau.

Hele ruime kamer en douche, erg schoon. Gastheer/personeel super vriendelijk! Ontbijt was niet super gevarieerd, maar de pannenkoekjes die ze hadden waren heerlijk! Het ligt iets van de hoofdstraat af, heerlijk rustig en je bent zo op het strand.

Moskee in de buurt, dit maakte ons bij het ochtendgebed vroeg wakker. Dit duurde gelukkig niet lang, oordopjes in en lekker verder slapen ☺️

Das Frühstück war sehr lecker, jedoch ist die Auswahl, mit vier Möglichkeiten, sehr begrenzt. Die gesamte Anlange, sowie unser Zimmer, war sauber und machte einen gepflegten Eindruck. Hervorzuheben ist die sensationelle Lage - wenige Meter von der Mainstreet entfernt, trotzdem sehr ruhig gelegen.

Das WLAN war nicht gerade das Beste. Liegt vielleicht auch daran, dass wir das hinterste Zimmer der Anlage hatten - vorne in der "Lobby" war es einwandfrei.

I absolutely loved my stay here! The vibe is just amazing, super warm, welcoming, and friendly. Since it’s a small hostel, it feels very familiar, which makes it easy to connect with everyone. The people I met here were incredible, and the atmosphere was perfect. The Sunday family dinner is a great way to meet other travelers and enjoy delicious traditional food. Breakfast is huge, tasty, and the coffee is excellent. Honestly, the best hostel I’ve stayed at in Sri Lanka so far. 100% recommend and I’d definitely return!

Really lovely boutique hostel. The staff are so lovely and create a really pleasant, social vibe. The breakfasts are the best I had in Sri Lanka. The location is fantastic, close to beach, yoga shack with multiple classes per day, quiet and safe. The rooms are well equipped.

Der Gastgeber und sein Team waren einfach super. Frühstück top, Bett super bequem und wurde während unseres Aufenthaltes sogar 2x das Zimmer gereinigt. Sehr zu empfehlen!

I really liked the friendly and welcoming atmosphere at Agra Hostel. The space was clean, comfortable, and in a great location, but what really stood out was the hospitality. The owner, Nalaka, was absolutely brilliant - so helpful and genuine, he really made the stay memorable. Food was also amazing, I had both the Sri Lankan breakfast and the banana pancakes. And the coffee!!! Soooo good

Nous avons adoré notre séjour dans cet hôtel à Arugam Bay ! L’ambiance y est vraiment agréable, avec un espace commun convivial pour échanger, jouer au ping-pong ou aux jeux de société. La chambre était simple, propre et confortable, parfaite pour se reposer. L’accueil a été excellent et les petits déjeuners très bons. L’emplacement est idéal : proche de tout en étant en retrait de la rue principale, ce qui garantit un calme appréciable. Une adresse à recommander sans hésiter !

Proche de la plage, 2 min a pieds. Guest house très charmante, bien décoré, très propre et équipée, Un niveau au-dessus des autres logements a ce prix. L’accueil, la nourriture, tout était au top. Très bonne continuation a vous 👍

Eigenaar was onwijs vriendelijk net als de rest van de mensen die hier werkten. We werden goed geholpen. Fijne locatie en heerlijke kamer; van alle gemakken voorzien. Het ontbijt na het vroege surfen was heerlijk. Dankzij deze accomodatie een geweldige tijd in Arugam Bay gehad!

Soms wat mieren in de badkamer, hier probeerden ze wel gelijk wat aan te doen.

The rooms are clean and practical with clean bathroom and hot water showers. The breakfast is super nice - you can have alternatives from their breakfast menu and they also have great coffee. The best of everything is the staff working there. Nalakq and everyone in the staff are so warm, open and welcoming and they have made our stay the best! I would really recommend to stay here if you are going to Arugam Bay.

Good size bedrooms, and the bed was comfortable. At just 2 minutes walk from the main road, where you can find plenty of restaurants, and at 5 min walk from the beach makes it the perfect location. The family dinner was delicious, and it was also an occasion to meet the other guests. The staff was friendly and made us feel welcome.

We liked everything, this is just a small note, we would have liked more breakfast options.

Very welcoming host that thinks of every detail: nice soaps, fresh towels, tea in the room and water cooker, small fridge, A cold bottle of water at arrival and a fresh coconut as welcome drink.

Earplugs are nice to have since you can hear the prayer in the morning but that's okay. We slept very well.

Really great hostel. We were welcomed with a cold coconut on arrival which was a lovely surprise. The breakfast was also amazing - the banana pancakes were to die for and the fresh juice and Sri Lankan options were delicious too. Lovely staff, nice room, beach shawls provided and great AC. The host was super helpful, as we told him that the AC in our room is not working properly. He immediately fixed the problem by calling the repair guys on a weekend evening. He also provided tons of useful hints and info about Sri Lanka. With one work he is a really cool and knowledgeable guy who runs his business impeccably. The breakfast was also marvelous (portion and taste). The only negative thing to mention is the smell in the bathroom (with closed door only the bathroom) which occurred time to time. (Might be because of the swampy land behind the building.)

We absolutely loved our stay here. Our host was quite possibly the most knowledgeable person we’ve ever spoken to. I would highly recommend coming. The food is incredible… they made us a complimentary evening meal and it was beyond delicious. The breakfast was one of our favs in Sri Lanka. We loved it here and would definitely recommend.
