Crystal Resort

A very pleasant and comfortable stay. Everything went smoothly, the atmosphere was welcoming, and I had a good experience overall. A nice place to stop and relax while traveling through the area.

The room was not bad. It seemed clean and comfortable enough. Great view outside. The food was great and the service was great too.

They charged me for certain amenities like shampoo, toothpaste and brush which should have come with the place. Also would have been nice to have a sit down with the view outside but there was no room to place a table and chairs in the corridor which the door opens to.

Our recent two-night stay at your establishment was highly satisfactory. The location proved to be exceptionally convenient, and we found the staff to be remarkably supportive. The accommodations were clean and well-maintained, and the culinary offerings were quite commendable. We particularly appreciated the presence of the upstairs bakery, which provided fresh food options, and the quality of the juices was excellent. The hot water shower was quite nice. Overall, our experience was flawless.

There was some construction work taking place upstairs, which unfortunately led to a bit of noise on the final day. Kindly remember to request water bottles. That concludes the matter.

This has been by far the best accommodation we have stayed at in Sri Lanka so far. The hosts are incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive. They truly go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and cared for. They are available 24/7 and always happy to help with anything you need. You can really feel how much they care about their guests, and their warmth and hospitality made our stay extra special. We are so happy that we chose this accommodation and would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Sri Lanka. A wonderful place with genuinely wonderful people!

I actually started writing this review on our first day here because I was so impressed, but I wanted to wait until our stay was over before posting it. I can honestly say this has been one of the best places we've stayed. The hospitality was amazing from the moment we arrived. Huge thanks to Mr. Viraj for being so friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help. You can genuinely tell he cares about his guests, and it really shows. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and had everything we needed. Even the bathroom was incredibly clean. Honestly, I couldn't find a single thing to complain about. The food was another highlight. On our first day, we gave very short notice, but Mr. Viraj still managed to prepare dinner for us so quickly, and it was absolutely delicious. Every meal after that was just as good! Thank you for making our stay so comfortable and memorable. We had a wonderful time and would happily stay here again. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great hospitality, delicious food, and a relaxing stay!

The bed was comfy, view was amazing and the owner was very friendly and kind to us. I felt sick the first day we arrived and the owner kept asking me about my physical state and was even willing to bring me to hospital. He’s a good person.❤️ They also have a bakery upstairs where you can enjoy their homemade baked sweets. I would recommend this accommodation to anyone searching for warm local experience.

Viraj is friendly, helpful and all-round great guy, even offered to take me to the train station the next morning free of charge, and made sure I got the correct ticket etc. The rooms were great, spacious and clean, and the family were very welcoming and even gave me food from their cafe. super great place and lovely family - would 100% reccomend

Room is very spacious, incredibly clean. The bathroom was also big and clean, the water temperature and pressure qas very good too. No complaints about the room whatsoever and an incredible price. The bakery on the property made delicious fresh goods like fish buns very delicious. The staff were a wonderful father and son duo. Would stay again.

Any time customer service is available and staff are very helpful. Everything is perfect nice place.

Really nice place, room was clean, had a really pretty view and the owners were so sweet💛 Breakfast was delicious!

Mr Viraj really hosted us well. He took care of luggages guided us to a restaurant at 11pm also the breakfast was amazing

all good

If one is looking for a getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life and to enjoy a serene, calm and cool place, I believe this is the perfect spot. A view from the top, living in the midst of a hill and viewing the landscape with an elevation, is an extraordinary experience. We stayed there for one night but tried not to miss the morning view. Though the resort is in a remote place and takes quite some time to travel to from Nuwara Eliya (almost 2 hrs), the overall beauty, the resort owners' gesture and the rooms were value for money. The room was spacious and clean. It was well prepared, and the owner was so cooperative. The place needs some improvement indeed, as it is still being modified, but if anyone wishes to stay, a taxi or pre-booked transport might be best to choose. In our case, we coordinated with the resort owner, and Mr Viraj has supported us throughout the time.

The place is in a very remote zone, and at night it becomes so dark and quiet. At that time it may feel a bit scary. The washroom was clean but could be due to the height or some other reasons the water flow was not sufficient.

This was one of the best places we stayed in sri lanka. Viraj the host is one of the friendliest people we met in sri lanka, going above and beyond to make our stay perfect. The breakfast was one of the best we had on our whole stay and the view from the room is unbeatable. For this price you will not find better. We wished we had stayed longer

Flott personale. Fikk alt vi trengte. God mat.

Good hospitality And the owner is very friendly Everything petfect for a good price Rooms are perfect clean and very neat

The room is very clean and comfortable. The price is very reasonable. We were given very good and friendly service by the young owner of the hotel. The dinner and breakfast (Srilankan) were very delicious. They provided us everything we needed without hesitation. You can buy delicious bakery products from this place. The place is very close to badulla Town.We will come again definitely.

Nothing

Super friendly owner, nice big rooms And delicious breakfast.

Breakfast was good, tasty and plenty :)

Kindness of the owner The view

Carpet on the floor = humid. Air conditioning smells bad. No food at night for us this time.

Very calm and nice that there is AC, which makes the room slightly less humid during rain. And very friendly staff and cafe upstairs :)

We had a wonderful experience staying here. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, which made us feel right at home. Both the room and the dining area were spotlessly clean and well-maintained, just like in the photos—we truly appreciated the consistency. The place was also very budget-friendly. Overall, everything exceeded our expectations. We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable, and affordable stay.♥

Viraj is a wonderful host, we had a lovely time at their place!

Il miglior posto dove abbiamo dormito in Sri Lanka!

Our family of four stayed in a clean and comfortable room, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. The real highlight was the hospitality. Viraj and his family went above and beyond to make our stay special – always friendly, always ready to help. They even prepared us a delicious, generous dinner outside of regular hours, which we truly appreciated. On our departure day, Viraj personally drove us to the railway station – such a thoughtful gesture! If you want clean, comfortable accommodation and warm Sri Lankan hospitality that makes you feel at home, this is the place. Highly recommended!

Goede bedden en goede service.

The best place to stay while trekking on the Pekoe Trail. Basic, but very clean and comfortable. Beautiful view, delicious local food and adorable owners.

Most helpful host, Viraj and family. We arrived late and left early! Still, Viraj organised Dinner delivery for us, prepared breakfast on-site (bakery in the building!) and took us to the station in time! And for an absolute bargain. Room was in line with pictures, we stayed as family of 4 (11&15) and enjoyed the two Queen size beds, Pro-tip: If you want 1h alone in the train cabin (and door!), start your train trip in Badulla, not Ella...

The rooms are practical. As expected for the price. Still clean, with warm water shower and A/C!

Lovely new hotel, you can tell the owner and his family are very passionate about their business, they were very helpful and very kind. We needed transportation to and from Dunhinda waterfall which the Uncle very kindly provided with his tuktuk. The view of the mountains was amazing and the sunrise was beautiful. The breakfast food was delicious and freshly made with appam and tea/coffee. The bakery downstairs smells amazing in the morning. Location is also very good, it is easy to find and right on the main road.

We would have loved if there was more of a balcony/sitting area with the room. The view from the hotel is amazing but you must either view it from the cafe/main level or by standing outside the room (which is still ok but a balcony would be nice). The cafe service is great but they could also have menu cards for guest viewing.

Nice room with air conditioning. Nice cafe for breakfast (fresh fruit, baked goods, Sri Lankan Hoppers etc) The very friendly owner and family made the stay extremely chilled and they could not do enough for us. A short tuk tuk ride out of town

Crystal Resort was a fantastic stay after completing Stage 17 of the Pekoe Trail. Although it's about 4 km from the trail end, the owner went above and beyond to arrange transport to the hotel and even to the station the next day. The food was absolutely delicious, and the room was excellent for the price. Highly recommend for anyone doing the Pekoe Trail!

I stayed here for a night and had a great experience! This hotel is run by a kind and helpful family. The room was clean, spacious, and furnished well. The food was also great. My hosts helped me arrange my bus tickets the following morning, which was very helpful! The location was farther away from Badulla city center, but reachable via tuk/car/bus.

It was over a family bakery , he bought us dinner on out balcony . And could have had breakfast to but we made early start , the service was excellent . Would have taken us on a tour of city , but had him drop us off in the city , then later he meet us at station with our cases . Even put us on train . Excellent !,,,,,,,

Family ran Very good

Viraj runs this property and he is a really great host. He was available whenever I needed any help. Superhost!

Room was very clean, clam and Air-conditioned. It is equipped with all amenities including a spacious shower-room with hot-water as listed. Weather in the area is very pleasant and actually night stays does not require A/C. There was a small balcony for the room with a table and two chairs. The dinner we had there was enjoyable. The staff was very friendly, caring and helpful. They have a café and so fresh bakery items are available apart from the main meals they serve (they served us two freshly baked muffins when we leave as a gift. It was tasty). Highly recommended as a perfect place for a night stay. Located near the main road, so easily accessible.

Vehicles need to be parked in a small parking lot by the side of the road in-front of their café; so I felt little unsafe. But there were no issues. They have taken good care of it at night. The hotel does not have a garden, so a daytime stay would be boring.

We chose the place to take the train to Ella the next day. The host family is so loveable. Viraj provided us with food deliveries and recommended good restaurants. The room was clean with beautiful view into the forest. Finally, he drove us to the train station. Thanks!

It’s calm and they owner is supportive and try his best to make us happy We reached to the are in the night , he went an bought pizza for us , nice place

Clean , Natural, food

Our stay at Crystal resort was really great and the best part was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Viraj and his family were amazing hosts and assisted us with all our needs. The room was clean and the view from our room was also beautiful.

Ithas a good view clean rooms

I recently booked a room through for my trip, and I must say it was a fantastic experience. The accommodation was definitely worth the money spent. The staff was exceptionally friendly and went out of their way to ensure our comfort throughout the stay. They were also very helpful in arranging our meals, which made our trip much more convenient. The room itself was clean and well-maintained, providing a comfortable environment after a day of exploring. Overall, I had a pleasant and enjoyable stay, thanks to the excellent service and facilities provided by the hotel. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a hassle-free and comfortable stay in the area.

Viraj is very kind, gives a warm welcome and organized it very well for us!

Lovely big room, breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Viraj and his family are wonderful hosts and very helpful organising our outings.

This is not a resort in the usual sense, it’s a b&b style studio apartment underneath a family run cafe in the hills just a few minutes out of Badulla. Your main reason for visiting, outside the peaceful location and balcony views, will be your young host Viraj, who manages your stay and is delightful and extremely responsive on WhatsApp, nothing was too much trouble for them - few people naturally have the gift of hospitality but Viraj is one of them. The room itself is basic but new and clean and comfortable and perfect for our one night stay. Viraj can organise transport and dinner at your room (the pizza was good,we were ready for a novelty after a long stretch of great regional food) and at breakfast the fresh baked treats from family were amazing - see if you can get a fish patty before they sell out, and the fruit juices were excellent. We wanted to be outside the Ella tourist area for our 1-night stay off the train and this suited us perfectly, not sure we will ever be back in Sri Lanka hill country but if we were would happily return and I recommend to others looking for a friendly and great value stay.

There isn’t a lot of information provided so you need to talk to Viraj to know eg how much transfers cost etc but once we got in the swing of conversation nothing was too much trouble.

I recently had the pleasure of spending three unforgettable nights at Crystal Resort, and I can’t express enough how wonderful my experience was. From the moment I arrived, the hospitality of the staff stood out, making me feel welcomed and at home. The food at the resort was exceptional, with a wide variety of delicious dishes that catered to every palate. Each meal was a culinary delight, showcasing the talent and dedication of the family owners. The owners of the resort were incredibly kind and attentive, ensuring that I felt valued and cared for throughout my stay. Their warm and friendly demeanor added a personal touch, making my experience even more special. Transportation to and from the resort was seamless and well-organized, making it easy for me to explore the surrounding area without any hassle. A special mention must go to Viraj, who played a pivotal role in making my stay extraordinary. He assisted with planning a memorable camping trip to Narangala Mountain, providing invaluable guidance and support. During an unexpected emergency situation, Viraj went above and beyond to help, demonstrating exceptional care and dedication. His efforts were truly commendable and greatly appreciated. In conclusion, my stay at Crystal Resort was an incredible experience, thanks to the excellent hospitality, delectable food, wonderful owners, and the outstanding service provided by Viraj. I highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a perfect getaway.

Basic room with a large clean bathroom, good water pump/heat, nice AC and solid wifi as well. Highlight was the hosts - very hospitable, picked me up and dropped me off at train station, picked up dinner each day after dark. definitely recommended for Badulla

Viraj was super accommodating with us and made us feel at home straight away. Not only we were arriving quite late but we also had to leave early in the morning and he managed to provide us dinner and breakfast(this last one on the go!), and both were home made and of an outstanding quality! We wished we could have stayed one more night in Badulla!

We were told we are the first Singaporeans to stay at this resort run by a couple and their 3 children. Their service was friendly and impeccable! We had dinner and breakfast during our 1 night stay and had delicious home cooked food. Room was clean, spacious n very comfortable. Altogether, an awesome experience in Badulla ! Thank you Viraj and family!

Quite new and very clean and spacious room, comfy bed, the host Viraj and his family are super friendly and will help with anything you might need. Definitely worth a stay! This is a good possibility if you want a stop in the highlands while avoiding touristic centres like Nuwara Eliya or Ella or if you are just passing through. Note however that it is located outside of Badulla (next to the main road towards Hali-Ela, you can take any bus from Badulla to Hali Ela and get off directly in front). There is lots of buses so it is easy to get to Badulla or elsewhere and Viraj will also organize taxi or tuktuk if necessary There is no food places or attractions in walking distance. But the café of the host family is directly on top, so you can get breakfast or snacks there and they also organized dinner delivery for us which we could eat in the café. We got recommended to hike Narangala mountain by Viraj which was very nice!

A modern nice clean room with a modern stuff All was very clean and a duper kindly stuff There is a vsjrty directly so you can have had very fresh tasty Simi Sambal pan and sugarcane pan

When train is coming;not so often it is as defently very loud.

The perfect place to stay for a peaceful stay before getting the train to Kandy. The location is slightly outside Badulla (10 minutes by tuk tuk) and has a lovely view of the valley and the train passing by. They have a tuk tuk so getting into town is very easy. Communication was excellent throughout. We ordered food in advance and Viraj kindly collected it for us which was delicious. They made us the best mango juice we had in Sri Lanka! The room was perfectly clean and comfortable but what made this place special was the warmth and kindness of hospitality we received from Viraj and his father. They made us feel so at home and went above and beyond to help us with anything. Wish we could have stayed longer just to spend more time with them!

This is an amazing and genuinely friendly family run business. For an incredibly reasonable price we honestly could not have asked for more! The accommodation is basic but comfortable and we had the most amazing views from our balcony, as well as entertainment by the local troupe of toque macaques who were swinging around in the trees! Vivek and his Dad picked us up from the railway station and literally looked after us for our entire stay - there is no need to arrange local trips in advance, Vivek can take care of that and their service is honest and transparent with the costs, which we settled up when we left. We were taken by Dad in his tuk tuk to Dunhinda waterfall and then Badulla town on our first day, and on the second day Vivek organised transport and accompanied us up Narangala mountain, for which you definitely need to be quite fit! 😂 We were able to eat in their cafe and enjoyed the best Sri Lankan curry on our last night for only 800 rupees each (£2)! Highly recommend staying here if you are able to relax and trust Vivek with looking after you - for us it was an absolute delight and incredible value for money 👍

Nothing

This guest house in Badulla is a quiet spot, really close to the train station. It's great for train trips to Kandy or Ella. The rooms face a beautiful forest, offering a peaceful vibe. A friendly family runs it. They have a bakery and coffee shop that serves homemade, fresh treats. They're super helpful too. We went on a walk through the mountains and villages, and they picked us up in their tuk-tuk from Badulla. The rooms are very clean, quiet, with hot showers and tea-making facilities. Sitting on the balcony at night, you can enjoy the forest view and nature sounds. They offer Sri Lankan or Western breakfasts and even drop you at the train station.

Nothing, I incredible value for money

Location was excellent. Fantastic views! Nice bakery upstairs so you can buy freshly baked food in the morning.

Good views from room. Many thanks to owner Viraj, very hospitality 🤗

Friendly host. He even cleaned my bicycle. And got me dinner. Decent breakfast. I felt welcomed.

View from the room consists of trees, not really mountain. Room was a bit sober.

We made a last minute booking and were accommodated well. Viraj & Family were lovely and welcoming, the room was clean with nice touches and the café is a real bonus!!

Room was quite big. There were some snacks prepared. The owner speaks good english and can give you lot of information about places around and Sri Lanka in general. He can arange guided tour and taxi for nice price. There is cafe inside this accomodation. Breakfast was really good and owner offered to get us something from town.

It is not directly in the town, you have to take tuktuk, but owner aranged one for us so it is not that big issue.

Very beautiful hotel located in a beautiful area. This is well run by the father and son duo. The service and hospitality was immaculate. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. Spent a very relaxing night over here. There was freshly baked goods in the morning, fresh milk tea and great food. We will definitely visit again. Lalith, Nilmini, Nilani, Gavindu and family from Australia.

Delicious breakfast and peaceful environment

The view where the room situated.

The cafe upstairs was convenient.

This was a spotless, tasteful, large and comfortable room with a beautiful view of the sunrise over the Namunukula range, and a bathroom to die for. Viraj and his dad provided warm hospitality, finding us dinner and letting us eat in their cafe till well past closing time. I would highly recommend it to anyone spending a night out two in Badulla. My best wishes to Viraj, for every success in this enterprise.

Start your day with a fresh breakfast experience! The food here is made in their oven every morning, ensuring top-notch deliciousness. You absolutely have to try their Fish Buns, Seeni Sambol buns, Sausage Buns, and their freshly made juices—they're simply amazing! It's the perfect way to start your day on a delicious and comfortable note! Not only is the food great, but the breakfast spot itself is cozy and calm, providing a comfortable atmosphere to enjoy your meal. The staff, including our courteous host Viraj, is friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home. Their bedrooms are good, it had everything we needed, meeting our expectations and ensuring a pleasant stay. All-in-all, this is a delightful bed & breakfast destination.

Everything was up to our expectations.

management was well aware of our booking and we were warmly welcomed. They were supportive of arranging us transport to and from the property. They helped us arranging our food and other things we asked for and provided extra amenities for our comfort.

Nothing noted wrong. but happy to add a suggestion -If they could develop their adjacent current business of a cafe to a restaurant, would be very beneficial to the occupants of this property.

We were stay at family room and its very clean. We had great 1 night experience there. Bathroom is very clean and new one. Specially, the staff was very kind, friendly and supportive. And also we had a great breakfast. Thanks for All.

Very comfortable, clean and quiet room. Friendly staff.

Lovely stay in a wonderfully appointed room. For a budget stay, this was definitely value for money. Viraj the owner was absolutely fantastic! Very friendly and caring.

location of the rooms were amazing, clean modern type, spacious rooms and it was super comfortable.had a wonderful experience. It was really worth the price. Service was amazing aswell, Friendly and welcoming staff made the stay even better. The owner of the resort himself guided us throughout the day and it was a such a nice experience. wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this wonderful place to anyone who plans to spend their holidays in badulla area.

Such a phenomenal place. Balcony looking onto majestic trees. Very authentic and cool hosts, who made our stay a delight. Viraj and his family are amazing! They have a little cafè above and offer rice and curry home made for visitors. :):) They became friends to us. Thanks for the coolest guest house experience we had in Sri Lanka!
