Walnut Cottage

The accommodation met all the needs especially with unexpected cold and weather conditions. It was cozy and spacious enough even had a few board games to enjoy.

The only thing that I can say is the sugar was not enough for all of us.

We had an excellent time. Regret fully we only stayed for two nights. Despite the freezing temperatures outside during the night there was enough heating including electric blankets. Hanli was very hospitable.

Shower not very suitable for taller persons

Decor, location clealiness , did also add electric blanket .. and new Smart Tv with all your best apps .

We zijn naar Clarens geweest eind juni. De nachten waren zeer koud; ook binnenin het huisje was het fris. We hebben de elektrische dekens goed kunnen gebruiken.

A beautiful property, peaceful. Has everything you need.

We stayed in winter and it was very cold, the little gas fireplace really doesn’t heat the flat up. Luckily there were electric blankets though.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay. The host was incredibly accommodating, friendly, and always willing to help. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that a lot of thought and care had gone into making guests feel comfortable and at home. The cottage exceeded our expectations in every way. It had a warm, homely atmosphere while offering the comfort and quality of a luxury hotel suite. The attention to detail was exceptional, and the host truly went above and beyond to ensure that everything was perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and felt completely relaxed throughout.

Honestly, there was very little to fault. The only minor point is that during the middle of winter, the unit can get quite cold inside. Aside from that, everything was excellent. We would highly recommend this cottage and would gladly stay here again. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The unit was freezing cold and we could not get the heater to warm up to more than 15 degrees. A better heating system would be a great idea.

Such a lovely stay - truly a home away from home. The place had everything we needed, fully equipped kitchen. A special thank you to the hosts for going the extra mile in sending an item that I left behind. They didn't hesitate at all, and that kindness really stood out. Highly appreciated.

Location very pleasant and pretty. Easy to get to restaurants and shops by car. Municipal roads in Clarens are not very good but that’s not the hosts’ fault. Beds were comfortable though the upstairs mezzanine room would not suit someone who is nervous of heights. The rooms were well equipped and very clean.

The Host was amazing and very responsive.The place is beautiful and safe and provides all the amenities needed for a peaceful and private stay. We were also close to the shops which made the stay even more convenient.

Walnut Cottage was clean and comfortable. It had everything that we needed.

Small things that made a huge difference. My husband asked for a bottle of wine, small packet of biscuits on the table, milk in the fridge and plunger coffee was a nice bonus.

Because we stayed for 3 nights our bathroom got a bit dirty and there was nothing to clean it with.

Walnut Cottage was the perfect overnight stop for our family on the way to Durban. The cottage is very well done, functional, and thoughtfully set up for a family, making it ideal for a comfortable night’s rest during our journey. The beds were comfortable and ensured a good night’s sleep, and the cottage itself is absolutely cute with a cozy, welcoming feel. Everything we needed was in place, making our short stay easy and stress-free. We truly wished we could have stayed longer to experience more of beautiful Clarens. We would happily return and highly recommend it to families passing through the area.

An idyllic cottage in Clarens with very modern furnishings. The bed and pillows are comfortable. The layout of the place has been well thought out. It can get a little cold but there is ample heating provided. We loved our stay and would definitely visit again.

The bath shower wasn’t ideal. I think the addition of another shower curtain would really improve the situation.

Spacious accommodation, location is perfect. Most of the items required for use are available. Bush feeling and everything was clean. Smart TV in working condition. Touch of modern life.

Beautiful garden and excellent view of the mountains. The induction stove (so easy and comfortable to use) and the gas-operated fire place; warmed up the property (especially the loft) great. Quietness (ok, we are from Joburg and stays next to busy highway. so this might be a relative view), although the main road (Harrismith/Fouriesburg - Bethlehem) is close by (the tall trees might contribute to the quietness), the traffic dies down significantly after 10...perhaps sooner we did not notice. If you are an active person you will love the location; a nice stroll to town centre via either the scenic backstreets or via the principal road (a bit less scenic).

Beautifully decorated, quaint, pet friendly cottage. The fence around the cottage is well-maintained so our fur babies couldn't get out. The cottage had everything we needed for the weekend (even an air fryer and a hair dryer!) and the hosts were very helpful and friendly.

What a beautiful cottage. From the decoration to the facilities and the comfy bed. You can see no expense was spared to set this cottage up. I can’t recommend this cottage enough. We will be back for sure

The modern style and sophistication of the unit as well as the available amenities. I appreciated the fact that the hosts provided tea, coffee, milk etc as well as basic toiletries of which were all of good quality and taste.

I think the hosts should consider a tabletop oven, although an air fryer and snappy chef are available, we found the air fryer a bit small for grilling larger cuts of meat, especially if one doesn't want to braai.

Beautiful interior, very comfy bed, the electric blankets were very welcome. Well equipped, central, great value for money.

It was very cold weather (not the owner’s fault, of course!) but the gas fireplace doesn’t really heat the cottage up. At least the electric blankets kept us warm while we were sleeping!

There's nothing we did not like about this cottage

The property was clean and had the required amenities. The host was in contact with me throughout the stay.The unit met our needs for a one night stay.

The stairs to the second bedroom are steep. One bath room only, but again was fine for a night's stay for 4 adults

Awesome location and super affordable for what you get. A 10 minute walk from the town square. The host is super helpful and communicative, and she sent us lots of recommendations for events happening in the town. We had a light malfunction in the bathroom and it was fixed the next day when we got home. Overall an amazing and relaxing stay!
