Redcastle Hotel

Location was superb. Bedroom was large with fantastic sea view. Excellent bed. Very polite and helpful staff.

Food was fine with large portions but it felt like an upmarket Premier Inn with a large plastic menu. Tables close together. Queue for the single toaster.

Only one small thing is there was only one 4 slot toaster for all the guests having breakfast and it can be very busy . Everything else was perfect.

The staff were exceptional. Makes the holiday. Facilities very good.

We had a couple of little issues in the room. Sink didn't clear too well. Hospitality tray could be a little bit more generous.

I liked everything about the hotel. I was at my nephew and his new wife’s wedding reception, the food was amazing.. the staff who served the food were so friendly. The bedroom was warm and very comfortable, the bathroom was very clean and fresh. I was very lucky as the view from my window was breathtaking. Breakfast was very tasty especially the porridge, there was a great variety of breakfast food, the home cooked fry was excellent. All in all it was a great experience and one which I hope to repeat very soon.

Very overpriced for the service provided. Young staff in the restaurant were very pleasant but reception staff were not welcoming and never engaged with you as you walked passed during the stay. It feels like a business orientated hotel, is tired in the hallways (doors are worn and poorly maintained). For €370 a night - no robes in room, extractor fan in bathroom didn’t work which made it stifling having a shower, poor quality toilet paper (like cheap school quality!), faceless black furniture in the room. Bed was comfortable enough but nothing about the room or the hotel was 5 star. It trades on its location and doesn’t try hard enough. We stayed at its sister hotel Lough Eske and it was similar - better but just not good enough for the price point.

Beautiful location. We stayed for a friends wedding and the whole stay was really lovely. The rooms were big and comfortable and we had a gorgeous view. All the staff we encountered were lovely :)

Such a minor thing - but would be great to also have water bottles in the vending machine instead of just soft drinks. They do give you a free carton each in the room but we drink a lot of water

Comfy room, generally staff were great with a few exceptions as stressed iut kids seemed a bit ubsure of what rgey were doing, enjoyed the swimming pool.

There needs to be a serious overhaul of hygiene standards Many tables around the hotel we sat at were grubby, People weren't cleaning underneath tables at meal times and when I asked for a tray to carry some drinks, I was handed a filthy tray with porridge quite obviously encrusted on it. I saw a bunch of kids, probably students, doing their best with very little sign of a middle management supervisory layer coordinating things. On the whole the staff were doing their best but it needs a few more people with experience around the place.

Location is a big plus. They have amazing view and rooms too. Its a huge property and beautiful place to spend you vacations there.

Bacon at breakfast is good. View from restaurant is impressive. Amanda on reception is efficient.

Hotel requires a spruce. Decor is shabby and requires a refresh. Spa is linked to leisure centre and shared changing facilities require an upgrade. Cocktails were disappointing. For price paid we expected a much higher level of comfort and standard of facilities.

The location

In short, 4 days booking with 2 sea view rooms. Fire alarm at 7 in the morning on day 2, 2nd room not done on day two. We had then to move, please be aware that if you have a sea view room on the ground floor and there is a wedding the wedding actually occurs also in your room. Impossible to sleep. It took them 3 hours to find a solution we were put in a room at the end of the hotel on top of an electric transformatior. They have to leave the window open because heat builds up in the room being on top of it (health and safety?). Absolutely no gesture, the manager talked to me like a 5 year old child. The bathrooms have been updated but it looks like it was done by me. Food, go next door at the boat restaurant. In a nutshell if you want a party hotel go for it if you want a leisure hotel flee! For the record they were not even able to provide me with a correct invoice, I am still waiting for it. They are just not professionals! Will never visit the other hotels of the Harcourt group. To the manager: 1000 apologies will not turn an unhappy customer into a happy one. When you are offered an early leave against the refund of the end of the stay that well maybe the best option for everyone...

Unser großzügiges Zimmer in diesem sehr gepflegten Hotel hat uns viel Platz geboten und wir hatten einen tollen Panoramablick sowohl vom Zimmer, Restaurant bzw. Frühstücksraum als auch vom Schwimmbad aus. Bemerkenswert sind auch die bequemen Betten. Besonders gut hat uns der wunderbar gestaltete SPA Bereich mit vielen Sprudelstellen gefallen. Viel Platz hatten wir auch im dortigen Umkleidebereich, das war sehr angenehm. Für Golfer ist natürlich der Golfplatz ideal. Wir haben schöne Strände nördlich des Hotels gefunden.

Location was good, I can see how lovely it would be in the sun. The food at the edge was absolutely delicious. We really enjoyed that meal. The rooms need some TLC and the mattresses are way past their expiration and should be replaced, it was a little uncomfortable.

Pool - was told at reception I could swim in it but wasn’t really possible. Also sauna and steam room not working. Additionally my colleague and I booked on the same day but I got charged €40 more

air conditioning in warm summer days would be nice. lucky we had a large balcony and doors to let cool air in

Room service after 11 pm. Rang for room service at 11. No answer. We had to go down to the bar. Was told the gentleman who deals with it would be back 15' mins. He returned after half an hour. Ordered pizza. It was disgusting. Could. Not eat it.
