Hiriketiya Hideaway

Honestly, staying at the hideaway was one of the best decisions I could have made. The people there are incredibly warm and welcoming. There’s a long-term staff member who was always there to help and made our whole experience at least 10x better. The owner Gimantha is such a genuine and kind person – he really did everything he could to make sure we had an amazing trip. And on top of that, there’s an adorable house dog who made the stay even more special, giving everyone so much love. I would come back anytime, no questions asked. 10/10. Loved everything!

There’s honestly nothing I didn’t like. I’ve been thinking about it for 15 minutes now and even asked my friends, but we just can’t come up with anything.

Easy walk to main beach and restaurants, friendly staff. Cute dog though he does not like the locals, we were walking home from dinner and the dog came to see us then proceeded to be aggressive towards a local lady (was really scary to watch) Filtered water was great, The beds were comfortable and had good mosquitoes nets.

When entering our room there was a very strong mould smell, we kept the air conditioner on the whole time as when we turned it off and back on the smell started again. Stayed on first floor Needs to have blackout curtains for the street lights, it was hard to sleep with so much light. Bathroom shower was basically squished in, between the sink and toilet so when you showered everything got wet.. maybe needs floor mats for bathroom and on concrete floors so the sand and dirt does not end up in your beds.. The boy that was left to run the place while the owner was away had limited English so was hard to communicate with..

Great location, easy enough walk or ride to all the main areas. The breakfast provided was delicious and the room was very comfortable.

Had an amazing stay . The atmosphere was so peaceful and relaxing, perfect for a proper getaway. The staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home. Loved the beautiful surroundings and the chill vibe throughout the stay.

Maybe adding tea/coffee sachets and a bit more space in the rooms would make it even better 😊”

Amazing service from the owner! We were able to check in 3 hours early and he also allowed us to eat breakfast (which was delicious) 30 minutes early so that we could eat before catching our train! Fantastic air con in room, amazing shower and great pillows! Also free drinking water (bottles in fridge) was a huge bonus.

No fridge in the room but a big fridge downstairs that had cold water in. Would have been nice to have our own fridge.

Als Fremde gekommen, als "Familienmitglied" gegangen. Der Gastgeber ist eine extrem herzliche Person, der jederzeit unterstützt, einen herzlich mit aufnimmt und wer möchte auch gemeinsame Zeit verbringt (vom entspannten Sonnenuntergang bis Party, alles dabei, alles möglich) Gimantha und die Zeit dort, hat meinen Aufenthalt auf Sri Lanka sehr geprägt. Danke dafür! Ich komme wieder :)

Good location between hiriketiya beach and Dikwella beach. The room was equipped with excellent AC, kettle and mosquito net. Bathroom was good with hot water in the shower.

Pillow was covered in mold (but I got 4 pillows so didn’t have to use the moldy one) and the bathroom had lots of ants.

+sauber +kostenloses Wasser +nettes Personal +sehr gute Lage zu 2 Stränden und Shops und Restaurants +wir mussten unsere Zeit verkürzen, weil die Zimmer (7qm) für uns als Familie zu klein war und die Kinder keine Platz zum Rennen hatten. Wir konnten ohne Probleme unser Aufenthalt verkürzen und es wurde sogar das fehlende Gelände am Balkon aufgrund unseres Hinweises am nächsten Tag gefixt.

The bathroom didnt feel 100 clean with a lot of ants everywhere. The staff trying to sell transfer and excursions, and the unhappy look when we said no.

Super clean and spacious room, my friend and I got a bed each which was unexpected but lovely! The staff were super friendly and the property was great value for money!

We had a very nice stay in this clean and convenient room and bathroom. AC worked very well and mosquito net was convenient. We could also refill our water bottles downstairs. Host was very nice and gave us good advice on where to eat and go out in the surroundings. Location was also really good, we could easily walk to the beach and main street/restaurants of Hiriketiya. Thank you!

Lovely people, clean and comfortable

Great location, lots of restaurants around, walking distance to the beach. Lovely clean room, and bathroom. Such a nice place to stay in Hiriketya, we stayed a second time when we returned to the area a week or so later. Drinking water available, and large balcony, nice for relaxing and drying clothes. Host very friendly and helpful.

We had a great stay here. It is perfectly located between Hiriketiya and Dikwella beaches with just a few minutes of walking to each. We also enjoyed the water refilling station which was a great way to reduce plastic consumption. Our room was a bit too small for two but we managed and the property has multiple bigger rooms to offer as well. They also have a great balcony where you can hang your towels and swimsuits to dry. The staff is also lovely.

We really enjoyed our stay at hiriketiya hideaway. Clean rooms really & friendly owners. And close to the hiriketiya beach. Perfect base to rent a scooter and explore the area.

The property is new, clean and the aircon is great cooling the rooms down even when it's 36 degs outside. The staff are super friendly and allowed me to store my bags after check out. I was able to get some work done in the shade of the veranda with a fan to cool me. Location is fantastic for meeting up with friends on the more relaxed Dikwella beach, as well as the more hectic Hiri.

A card reader for taking payments would be great.

The accommodation at Gimantha's home was great. Everything was clean and nice, at the same time very close to all the places in Hiri. I have to specially mention Gimantha himself, who is really extremely reliable. He arranges everything and is very friendly. If you are travelling to Hiri, this accommodation will definitely satisfy you. We would be happy to return again.

Host was outstanding, made us feel very at home and safe throughout our stay. He was very informative with the area and provided us with lots of suggestions and plans for each day of our visit to Hiriketiya. The whole place was very clean and well maintained. The accommodation was only a 10 minute to walk to the beach. We had a great stay here and would highly recommended.

The social side does lack a little, but that can’t be helped.

The accommodation was really nice. Walking distance from everything. The host was super helpful and nice. The room we had was a bit small for the amount of luggage we brought but we didn’t mind at all. There is a nice hot shower and the airco works really well. Thank you for a lovely stay!

The beds were comfy and they had mosquito nets, everything was clean. The owner is just the sweetest guy. They offer free coffee and water and he even took us to the bus Station.

Rooms were so small, we could hardly move around the bed and no space for bags. No WiFi. No atmosphere or vibe in this hotel. Better options elsewhere

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hiriketiya Hideaway, and I can't recommend it highly enough! The room was spotless, spacious, and beautifully appointed, with all the amenities. The bed was comfortable. One of the standout features was the exceptional service. The staff was friendly, professional, and always willing to help with any request, no matter how small. Whether it was offering local recommendations or providing extra towels, they made sure everything was taken care of. Overall our stay at Hiriketiya Hideaway was very good experience. This place is highly recommended.
