The room was spotless. Host was amazing & really helpful. Location was perfect.

The climb up the stairs. Pleased we only had an overnight bag not a suitcase.

Located in the heart of Stratford. The building is an historical structure, too, and furnished with antiques. The rooms are massive and absolutely beautiful.

Noise from room to room

清潔で広い部屋。 共有のキッチンには必要なものが全て揃っている。 ただ寝るだけだったので外へ出ていないからロケーションについては不明。

車の音が少し気になる。 私が予約した時は少し値段が高かった。 今検索すると２割ほど安い。 ただ寝るだけだったのでこの安い価格ならよかったなと思った。

The rooms, kitchen, bathroom were better than the actual pictures online. Kitchen had everything you needed and compliment tea and coffee. Will definitely stay here again. I requested a late checkout on morning of departure and it wasn't an issue. Great value for money! Thanks!

Beautifully presented rooms, but the building did not match our expectations What we liked: The proprietor was lovely, friendly and welcoming. We happened to meet her near the entrance, which was fortunate because we had been struggling to find it. Our rooms were generously sized, clean and thoughtfully styled. The beds were very comfortable and beautifully made, with electric blankets provided. There was also a large-screen television, and one of our rooms had a wonderful view of Mount Taranaki. The shared kitchen and dining facilities appeared well equipped, although we did not use them.

Unfortunately, the photographs did not prepare us for the overall condition of the building. Although considerable care has clearly gone into styling and maintaining the rooms, the building itself appeared very run-down, both outside and throughout the shared areas. There was a noticeable smell of damp on entering the rooms, as well as large areas of paintwork visibly bulging away from the walls, which appeared consistent with significant moisture damage. This made the rooms feel less comfortable despite their otherwise thoughtful presentation. It was extremely cold during our stay. A heater was provided in each bedroom, but the hallways, bathroom and other shared spaces remained very cold. Because of this, we spent the evening in our rooms, went to bed early and left soon after waking. The shared shower was also awkward to access, as it was raised on a plinth requiring three steps up and down. This may be difficult for anyone with reduced mobility. The accommodation is located on a busy road opposite a petrol station. We also noticed an “Earthquake Prone Building” notice near the front entrance, which we had not been aware of when booking and would have preferred to know about beforehand. Overall, we felt the listing photographs did not accurately convey the condition and atmosphere of the wider property. Given the price, the accommodation did not represent good value for us. Despite the warm welcome, comfortable beds and obvious attention paid to presentation, we would not choose to stay here again.

It was so nice and clean and very homely I loved that we had our own bathroom that shower was amazing .

The bed was a little firm but everyone likes it different so wasn’t a big deal at all .

The accomodation was stunning. So much room and the decor was beautiful. It had everything you needed and more.

It would have been great to have more heating. There was a heater in the bedroom but not the lounge area. It was pretty cold in Stratford and the accomodation was cold. Maybe an electric blanket too.

Incredible view at mt Taranaki

Location was good, easy instructions to find the accommodation and easy to access. We were very pleasantly surprised with our room. Included a large living room, spa bathroom and large bedroom. It had everything we needed. Shared kitchen on-site if needed. Terna was very efficient with communication.

There isn't much to fault here. If I could suggest something it would be to remove some of the decor as there isn't much room to put your stuff. Besides that it's amazing!

Great location right downtown and closed to the theatre I was attending. The kitchen was wonderful and the bathrooms modern and clean. My room was kind of "worn" but had marvelous views from the windows, tons of space, plenty of places to sit and a big comfortable bed.

This hotel gave me a wonderful surprise. Although it doesn’t have many rooms, everything is very delicate and well-designed. It has a classic British style with lots of antique furniture, which I really love. It’s also very clean. I will definitely choose you again next time.

I really love this hotel, so I recommended it to my friends. That same evening, we booked another room and stayed there together. We absolutely love this place — it offers great value for money. It’s also very convenient, with a lively town center and shops just nearby.

The room was lovely, nicely furnished and a lovely bath. There is a fantastic view of the Volcano from the kitchen window.

I couldn't get the tv to work other than Netflix. There are lots of steps to the house so probably not suitable for anyone with a disability.

Location is great but slightly felt scared upon arriving due to lower level abandoned and building is old i initially thought i got scammed..then I checked my messages at booking.com there's instructions so all good :)

The room was huge, the bath was lovely and the shower really powerful. A perfect retreat after a lot of walking.

Location is very convenient right in town centre. Just a 5 minute walk to restaurants etc. Easy to find thanks to exact instructions texted to my phone. Staff were excellent, the owner offered the use of her personal garage to store our touring motorbikes which was wonderful. One small concern we had with bedding was attended to right away by a lovely helpful lady.The bathrooms were exceptional for cleanliness and decor. The kitchen was super clean and spacious and the adjacent dining room was a delight with lovely decor and a view of Mt Egmont. The owner has decorated to n excellent standard.

Was way above our expectations of a country town old hotel style accommodation. A very well done renovation. Clean and fresh. No old carpet smell. Bed very comfortable. Good kitchen. We stayed in the executive suite with spa bath. Large lounge and separate bedroom. Very nice.

Fantastic value for money and great facilities. The kitchen is brilliant, there is a separate dining room, and equipment was excellent. Bed comfortable, bathroom impeccable. Convenient to shops and restaurants.

The external appearance of the building is unprepossessing, and gives a misleading impression of how nice the inside is! Plus the CBD of Stratford is pretty run down..

We had a lovely room with beautiful furnishings that was spotlessly clean. A fully equiped kitchen and dining area were also available. The Royal is a gem. We will definitely stay again.

As aircon didn't have control available a small bar heater would have been good for morning use.

It was a little difficult to find initially because its not where google says it is but once I found it I was exceptionally happy with everything. I wasnt aware it was shared bathroom (my fault for not reading correctly) but was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of everything

You have to take muddy boots off (fully respect that) but then I needed to talk around barefoot and there was no where to store the boots. A boot rack and then slippers or similar would be a nice touch

The Royale accommodation is very well set up. Rooms are thoughtfully decorated and very comfortable. Kitchen and bathrooms are spotless and have all you need. The host is charming, welcoming and relaxed. Would definitely stay again.
