Castaway

Super tolle Lokale in Fußnähe.

On the positive side, the staff are lovely and very helpful, and the breakfast was good.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay, however, the value for money is simply not right. The hotel looks beautiful and very well maintained in the photos, but in reality there are many things that are run-down and clearly in need of maintenance: broken and neglected-looking woodwork, torn mosquito nets, stained bed sheets, broken pool tiles that can cut your feet, rusty taps, and worn-out toilet fittings and plastic parts. The water pressure is extremely poor, and both the shower and tap water are salty. This is definitely not an island-wide issue, as friends of ours stayed at other hotels and had fresh water. The worst part for me, however, was seeing a rat in the kitchen twice, on two different days. The first time, I reported it to the staff the following morning, and they were considerate enough to say they would wash the dishes that had been left outside in case the rat had come into contact with them. The second time, it happened in the afternoon while the staff were there. We alerted them immediately, and they did absolutely nothing. Even after asking if they already found the rat, they said "not yet" but didn't make a move to try....i observed them the whole time and nothing was done. I found this completely unacceptable and an incredible lack of hygiene, especially when it involves a kitchen.

Good position

Bathroom needs a good scrub

Really great staff. They take great care of us. We’ve had early transfer and personel came 1hour earlier than normal just to prepare breakfast for us, amazing people :)

Great house and location just next to beautiful beach

The location was perfect and the villa was beautiful! Lots of restaurants in walking distance. Would highly recommend.

Breakfast had no Indonesian options and the pool decking was quite weathered with holes in boards and tiles were slippery for kids.

Staff were friendly, helpful and went over and above to assist with everything. Clean. Comfortable beds. Great location.

There was nothing to dislike

Location was perfect Place was gorgeous

What's not to like, everything, from how chilled it is, clean even though outside bathrooms i did not see 1 insect, dont know how they do it. Lovely small size and staff always on hand to help you and serve drinks and breakfast. It's a must if you come to Nusa I would bot stay anywhere else.

Nothing everything was excellent, if I had to really pick something I would say there are a few loose boards around the pool and 2 broken tiles in pool, so just a bit of maintenance. But did not distract from the great time we had.

Fantastic villa close to the beach.

Decking around the pool starting to age

This was a lovely place to stay - spacious, clean and well furnished rooms and outdoor areas. Great location - only a short walk to the beach.

Great location, friendly staff, comfortable bed, our room and ensuite were very clean, nice pool, close to restaurants and cafe's

Having to leave

EVERYTHING!! Beautiful space, private, well appointed, Dewa and his staff were fabulous, nothing was a hassle, close to warungs, restaurants, cafes, beach, massages. A relaxing and restful place that put a smile on my face 🌺

Nothing to not like. Only suggestion for the Villa would be more glassware and condiments (salt/pepper/sauces) in the villa would be good, and breakky options were good but not as expansive as at a resort, but there are enough places close by for variety anyway. I’d be back in a heartbeat 🌺

Absolutely spotless hotel. Staff are incredibly friendly and really helpful. We had a great stay.

Staff were very welcoming. Facilities were of a high standard and carefully maintained.

N/A

Great spot, good size rooms with comfy beds and nice outside seating. Dewa and the staff were very accommodating.

Road side room can be a little noise from the traffic

everything, we absolutely loved this place.

nothing it was perfect

Great location only a short walk to Mushroom Bay. The room was a good size and the bed was comfortable. Pool was also a good size & a great place to cool down in the afternoon.

Breakfast was average. Found the bread/toast really dry.

Looks luxury

The staff gave very little explanation and didn’t make much effort. Very poor sound insulation from the neighbors and the street. The breakfast was not really well presented or cared for. No fresh coffee.

Le style, le cadre et le calme

Rien

From start to the end you guys were the best

Everything so accommodating

Locatie was goed.

Ontbijt matig.Weinig keus.

Prijs kwaliteit verhouding was goed.

Everything! The location was perfect, castaway is the most quaint, beautiful , small boutique resort we have stayed in, so glad we found it, the decor, the pool, the staff were amazing, we didn’t want to leave. The staff were so friendly and nothing was a problem, beds super comfy, super clean rooms and a really nice vibe, thankyou Castaway!

Leaving…

Laid back and quiet

A little cozy with other travelers all in the same area

The hotel is truly beautiful, and in the area seemed the most appealing one. Very close to the beach. Breakfast did not have much choice, but it was alright.

The staff was not very helpful, and they leave reception by 7PM so if you need something they won’t be there to help. The pool was being fixed when we got there and only started functioning again when the staff left and the pool was closed, so we couldn’t use it. When we payed (they don’t charge your card on Booking and you must pay there) and charge you an extra charge that it is not included on the price showed on Booking.

We stayed in the private villa! It was peaceful & spacious. Great location. 2 big master bedrooms were beautiful with lovely ensuites.. Only a 10 minute drive to Sandy Bay resort & yoga around the corner. 500 metres to the beach. We loved our private pool & the decor of everything. Villa even has Javasicek paintings on the walls. Absolutely exquisite. There was only two of us so it felt like absolute luxury. Will definitely be back next year! Staff were helpful & friendly. Every day we would leave, our villa was cleaned & lights turned on before we came home. Felt totally spoilt! Thank you team castaway!

Lack of transport in picking up with luggage at harbour & also dropping off at harbour is the only negative. We arrived in the rain & our luggage was quite heavy wheeling up the road. If they had a buggy to pick up & drop off that would be great!

Beds were comfy, loved the semi outdoors bathroom, pool area is super relaxing.

Some of the rooms have hammocks or day beds on the verandah - ours didn’t have one which was a shame.

Nice Villa, 1 of 4 in compound

Little bit rundown down.

Amazing stay at Castaway, it was our second time there, love it. Beautiful villas and pool, happy, friendly and helpful staff. Close to the beach and cafes, restaurants etc, looking forward to our next stay!

Sehr schöne Unterkunft, sehr saubere Zimmer, Café‘s und Restaurants fußläufig erreichbar, gute Lage in der Mushroom Bay (Traumstrand)

Frühstück recht überschaubar (aber dafür frisch & individuell zubereitet)

Aesthetically beautiful, clean, awesome pool area and the most amazingly helpful & friendly staff!

Not far from the beach. central to restaurants and massages

Needs a bit of maintenance but only little things

Great location- a short walk to mushroom bay beach. Beautiful clean room and lovely staff

Na

Beautiful rooms and set up. Staff were amazing and friendly, went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and help.

Mushroom beach is a nice little beach, however, the big boats come in and park there, which is very off putting and doesn't help with relaxing.

Good location, comfortable bed, liked the pool and the boho style of the hotel. Could order breakfast to your room. We went on one of the suggested trips from the hotels booklet and it was a great day out. Hotel called taxi when needed for us.

Bathroom flooded when using shower, and bits of mud came into bathroom with bad weather. Didn’t refill mini bar during stay.

Pleasantly surprised with our stay here - it was very comfortable and staff were great!

The music from the restaurant across the road can be quite loud which is no fault of the villa. Perhaps Castaway could supply some complimentary ear plugs which we had at another villa we stayed at on Bali

Small beautiful resort

No restaurant

The staff are amazing, nothing is a problem for them .The rooms are extra clean and beautifully designed. The pool is clean , overall a great place to stay.

The noise from across the road was too loud for us ,if booking ask for a room away from the road

Wow just everything

Really lovely space, quality furniture and well maintained and clean.

Not much, it was a very comfortable stay. Wifi wasn’t great in rooms often only worked outside of room but very minor problem.

Location great and staff were amazing! The staff are really attentive and willing to help with every request. The included breakfast was also good and property feels secure and safe for a solo traveler.

All rooms are around the main pool so when guests party in the pool to 11pm it is hard to sleep. There is also a live band across the road each night until around 9.30/ 10pm and I like to go to bed early.

Beautiful, wonderfully styled and clean. Friendly and very helpful staff. The turn down service is a great touch. We hired a large moped through the hotel and it was a great bike.

My only comment is that we had staff organise a taxi down to the yellow bridge port on our last day and there was no discussion on price and for a 5 minute journey we were charged 150k which I think was a bit expensive. However it was heavy rain and the driver helped with our bag and umbrellas from Castaway.

Found it on booking.com and loved it

Secure, clean, had everything we needed, close to everything. The staff were accommodating even when it was raining for one day and they also went above and beyond to make my husband feel special for his birthday! Highly recommend this property for large groups, families and couples.

Facilities and staff where great

Location

You can hear the people in the next room very clearly which can be irritating when you’re paying a higher rate than other places in the area

The beds were comfy, the rooms were incredibly clean and cleaned daily. Loved the pool and the staff. Mushroom bay was perfect for our toddler as it was the calmest bay we found.

Everything! The staff were wonderful. The facilities and rooms were clean and comfortable. The whole experience was relaxed with a little luxury.

Honestly, there wasn't anything that I didn't like.

We loved this small boutique style, the shared pool area great to cool off after being out sightseeing all day, room was clean had a fridge we filled up with drinks, snacks also kettle in room air con was wonderful and each room had a nice deck area to relax on and have a drink on most evenings before we would leave for dinner in the evening. Breakfast was included and was cooked for us fresh in the morning loved their egg, bacon muffin and fresh juice. great location in mushroom bay, easy to walk to restaurants, small supermarkets and shops. Close coffee shop we got each morning brought back to our deck area to have with our breakfast. An easy stroll to mushroom beach and lots of restaurants along beach. We stayed 4nights here, 2 young at heart 60year old girlfriends.

nothing, we enjoyed out stay

Friendly and helpful team, quick check in process.

We perceived the hotel to a different standing, from its booking.com page. We were quite disappointed with the reality The location made it necessary to use bikes or taxis for most trips. One of the staff arranged a taxi for us to go to a restaurant, but the experience turned out unpleasant. The driver told us not to pay for the first ride and to settle the fare after the return trip. However, when it was time to go back to the hotel a few hours later, he didn’t respond to our calls. Later, he started pressuring us to pay for a round trip instead of just the one ride we actually took (even though we were, of course, ready to pay for the single transfer). Seems like a bad scam that is attempted on people too nice to say no.

Gorgeous decor . Great pool. Friendly staff. Great value for money

Nothing

The staff were amazing. Helpful and attentative. The room was beautifully furnished.

Not very private, not very family friendly travelling with 2 young children.

The place looks very good in the pictures, much more than other places we saw.

The maintenance is not good enough. There are stains of toothpaste from previous guests in the glass by the sink and also on the mirror. The toilet stick needs to be replaced.

The room the location the staff

Nothing it was great

We loved the decor, and vibe. Very cool and a beautiful garden setting. The central share pool was clean and cool.

I hope that they fix the outdoor shower by the pool. Sprays in all directions. Also no switch next to the bed to turn lights on and off.

So lovely - clean, great location, comfortable

Nothing really comes to mind

Ontbijt is zeer matig. Er zijn echt betere accommodaties.

A very comfortable stay - the rooms are well positioned around the central pool - you still feel like you have a private space. Breakfast was delicious with lots to choose from and served when you want. Perfect for families and friends travelling together. Hosts were super friendly and helpful. Plenty of restaurants around the resort and Mushroom Beach only 10 min walk. Such a beautiful beach. Very relaxing. The hammock is a nice touch.

Nothing

Nice and cosy

Too far from main restaurants
