Provider-sourced guest reviews.
It was convenient and friendly and the bed was really comfortable.
The room was up two sets of stairs that felt a little dangerous as the treads sloped downwards. The floor in my room was very uneven and I felt quite unsteady. The toilet was too close to the wall
Breakfast was great. Room comfortable and roomy. Even though there were stairs they were easy to navigate. Staff friendly and helpful. Lovely period hotel and furnishings with modern bed and bathroom. Lovely village. Free parking.

The food in the restaurant was fantastic. The staff couldn't do enough to help.
Everything
The room was too hot but tower fan was supplied.
The room was spacious and comfortable, the en-suite was of a good size with bath with shower over. The breakfast was not included in our booking but it was good value for money.
The shower was not very powerful!
Old fashioned big rooms
Great location, comfy big bed, good breakfast, great value for money
Very comfortable and clean room. Excellent location. Decent food in pleasant surroundings.
Location
Room has no cooling or ventilation as window only opens a few degrees. Hotter summer days and nights make this very uncomfortable

Nice breakfast
No aircon. However I was pleased to arrive and they had 2 fans on in the room which I appreciated. It kept it cool enough for me. I think in a heatwave it wouldn’t be cool enough however.
Huge bed, plenty of space for one to sleep and one to read. Interesting old building, some original features, wonderful to have sash windows and a real wardrobe. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Food very good the night we ate here. We didn't have breakfast, but walking past on the way to the car, it looked very tempting.
No ability to get a through draught in the room; the fan was wonderful but one of us couldn't sleep with it on and the other couldn't sleep with it off... we did half a night each. Then at 5.15, Tuesday (I think) morning 'warning, this vehicle is reversing' as the silent electric dustcart came for the rubbish! Not your fault.
Room very clean and well maintained
Would have preferred a walk in shower as we both have a bit of back trouble
Room was very small, could not have window open and blind down therefore light all night. The fan was adequate but not great. Toilet was set at an angle where it was not possible to sit on it square on. At all costs avoid room 20. Luckily the weather had broken otherwise the room would have been unbearable. As it was with the window open all night with traffic noise the temperature was 30 degrees in the morning. In addition the car registration machine was broken so expect parking ticket from company that runs the car park.
I was travelling for an event in Milton Keynes and the Saracens hotel was a great location. Excellent breakfast with many options.
I have no concerns.
Great character stay. The accommodation was great, the room was very nice and the food at the restaurant was good. Location was as central as you can get. Free parking also
The only downside to this hotel is that as an old building it has multiple sets of stairs and no lift, but it has great character. Also the rooms were all very hot during the recent heatwave and the fans provided were very ineffective. A minor problem but still a negative.
very good breakfast and service. Sunday dinner was sold out but enjoyed the general menu.BUT, the room was uncomfortbly hot at night(yes there was a heatwave)and the fan made no difference.
the temperature in the bedroom. If I'm being picky , the stairs and corridors made for along hike for a 92 y/old and 86y/oldwife but a lift looks difficult to fit. but we liked our short stay.
The room was unacceptably hot, and would have been a health hazard for the elderly or young children. The room was far too hot to sleep in, so we spent some of the evening outside and came very close to sleeping in the car in the car park. The temperature on the fan didn't drop below 30 degrees all night, but I'm sure it was higher than this in the room, closer to 40. Although it had been a very hot day, the temperature outside dropped at night, but we couldn't get any breeze into the room as the window only opened a crack. The staff gave us jugs of ice, but considering that we have had 2 months of hot weather, I would have expected a solution that made the room inhabitable, such as air conditioning or enabling the windows to open. I am very used to hot weather, as I have lived in South East Asia, but our stay in Towcester was the most unpleasant night of my life.
Good location
Windows didn’t open fully and fell down partially shut during the night . Thank heavens there was a fan in the room
Good location for the family wedding
The rooms were unbearably hot. Fans provided were ineffective and noisy. Windows fixed so could not be opened to let air in. Night time room temperature never under 29C. Breakfast staff rude and unwelcoming.
Location, beautiful place. Dave was so helpful, young barman was amazing & the service girls were very professional
The stairs!
Comfortable clean room and en suite
Nothing
Ive stayed here previously, as its a great base to visit family, and it didnt dissapoint this time either. Despite my last stay being in the middle of a heatwave, and my room being at the top of the property with a tiny window i was supplied with fans and bottled water. Nice to see the same staff, (always a good sign of a decent place to work) So clean , so comfortable, great selection of beers wines and spirits. Despite areas undergoing a little upgrade the work did not compromise guests comfort. Lunch and evening meals excellant value, if i was to be really picky the breakfast i had on my first morning was a little 'sad', but then again i was one of the last ones down for breakfast. Already booked my next stay for October. Highly recomended. A great base to explore the areas history and a beautiful historical building in its own right.
It was all good.
The room was clean and beautifully decorated. There was a lovely outside space to sit and the hotel is in the centre of Towcester so convenient for everything you need.
I understand the weather was hot, but the room was just way too hot and you could only open the windows about an inch, so it was impossible to cool the room down at night. For this reason it was difficult to sleep and even during the day it was hard to stay in the room as it was just too hot, despite fans.
Greene King pub with no Greene King ale. Sunday roast run out.
Stopped off here for the night to break up a long north/south journey. Found the hotel clean and well maintained, and staff on hand and helpful. 2 fans had been provided during the latest heatwave which were very much appreciated. We took advantage of the B&B with Dinner package and would say it was definitely worth the price. Would happily stay here again, and hopefully when the racecourse reopens it will give us the excuse to do so.
Lovely building and layout, good parking
It was very hot in the upstairs rooms. The staff tried to help with fans and complementary water. Having the window open to try and cool down meant a lot of noise. The bathroom however was tired and needed updating The bed was pretty soft and the room was small - fine for my short stay
Standard of the room was high - spacious and very clean. Good food.

Lovely place to stay would definitely return.
Waiting for an hour for our meal. So went elsewhere to eat. Other than that it's a lovely place to stay.
Breakfast was great, room comfortable
nothing, everything was as I expected
Loved the period property and character, staff were friendly and helpful. It was clean, we had everything we needed, we stayed during the hottest weekend of the heatwave, we were provided with fans etc.
Convenient location amazing price for the room that we had it was under £100 and facilities were outstanding
Good location. Easy parking- we have blue badge. Staff friendly and helpful
Parking log in app not working! Menu could be better . Room extremely warm even with two fans - we couldn’t open the window fully
Location convenient for a wedding
No running cold water in the room and it charged me twice!!! Once the day before as it was a pre book and then they charged me the day of too
Excellent venue and an ‘old English’ feel to it.
The comfort of the bed . The location and great food
Nothing
Really handy for the wedding reception we we're going to.
Would have liked biscuits.Parking spaces a bit tight.
I like how clean it is. Facilities, I can’t ask for more

Windows didn’t open fan didn’t work and breakfast was dreadful
Dinner was good and very good value. Food was well cooked and presented.
Difficult to get staff attention to be given a table. Staff a bit aloof as if they couldn’t be bothered and lacking any show of personality. Perhaps they would rather have been elsewhere on a Saturday night!
Great outside space to sit and enjoy the nice weather
Room was hot, but with the exceptional weather not a lot could be done, one fan in the room
Great location. Friendly staff.
Stay here often as visit relatives. Place has character and staff friendly.
Workmen arrived on day 2 of our stay, we were their for 3 nights. The noise and that parts were shut off to the public put as off. Room was 2 hot. Bin not emptied in bathroom and had to ask for more shower gel.
It’s in a good location for what I need and the food in the restaurant is good
External and internal noise, creaky floor and bed, floor on a slant, bed uncomfortable, shower cold.
Rooms were lovely, great size. Fantastic location and the breakfast was good. Very helpful staff.
Could not fault the hotel at all. Staff were lovely. No complaints about anything.
It is always very clean, rooms so comfortable, staff efficient and friendly. Every reason to return. ☺️

Old and divine
The staff were lovely and helpful, location fantastic and the room was very clean.
Our room was 31 degrees, there is no A/C or ventilation. It was awful, and they need to adapt to this changing climate - heatwaves are here to stay. Thank goodness we only had one night there.
The location was great
It’s was very hot in the rooms and found it difficult to sleep as no aircon
The staff were great, the food was good and there was free on site parking .
The lack of air conditioning made the room unbearably hot making it really uncomfortable.
Small single bed was ok Nice breakfast
Breakfast was very good just a nice place to stay
Just a nice place to stay not far from our daughter.
I love the property and have stayed before.
It was just way too hot with no air conditioning. There were 2 fans but these proved inadequate for the current heat. I didn’t sleep at all and even the bathroom was like a sauna.
Good quality breakfast. Good service
Room was very hot
Clean, comfortable bed, nice breakfast and a fantastic in the room
The property is in ideal location in Watling St with many lovely shops pubs cafes Etc. It suits our purpose of visiting family nearby.
LOCATION! Great location, facilities were great and room very accommodating.
Room got a little hot even with windows open. But because of street side room, had to close the heavy drapes to keep privacy, so couldn’t enjoy fresh evening air.
Breakfasts were excellent, good choices. Sunday dinner roast was off when we dined which I was not happy about. The bedroom although large needed at least 1 comfortably chair and also a chest of drawers or table
The type of food offered for dinner
Old traditional hotel, of which we like.
Nothing.
Location cleanliness
Pillows
Wonderful old world charm with modern convenience
No lift
Room OK but if you want hospitality look elsewhere.
Everything was excellent Most of all the staff from the manger to everyone When we were booking in we left an item behind the year before asked Kerry about it She looked in lost property and it was there She really did make my partners day The food was excellent Especially the breakfast Can't rate it high enough
Only slight negative Is the bar could be open longer to residents Maybe until 12
Lovely hotel, great location in the centre of Towcester. Very nice breakfast, with choice from the menu. Free car parking \, although limited spaces. Friendly staff. Room nice, but not the largest. Overall would recommend and return.
Nothing really.
Breakfast was amazing and great value for money, location was perfect.
Maybe the bar being open a bit later.
Plenty of choice for breakfast, the staff was very friendly and helpful . Excellent location for all amenities.
The bar could of been open later.
We would like to give a big shout out to Kerry for organising a fantastic afternoon. The meal was lovely and the entertainment was fantastic. Thank you Kerry hope there is more to come.
I would like to congratulate Kerry for organising an afternoon meal and tribute act made a brilliant Saturday her organisation was second to none I trust she will do more of these Saturday treats Brilliant afternoon
Great location and big room
Welcoming. Friendly. Clean.
Lovely location and building, we were there for a wedding which was fantastic with lovely food and reception.
Unfortunately, the room was like a sauna. I appreciate that we were experiencing an unusual heatwave, but the window could not be opened and the fan provided was ineffective. We requested a second fan in the evening, but by that point the room temperature was already around 30°C, making it very uncomfortable. I believe that rooms with no opening windows or other means of ventilation should have air conditioning installed, as the lack of airflow significantly impacted our stay.
Quiet and relaxing. Sarah was excellent, speedy and kind. Worth a visit. Food is tasty as well
We had such a fantastic experience during our stay. The room was far better than we expected spotlessly clean, spacious and prepared with real care. The team had set up a fan, opened a window and closed the curtains before our arrival, which was such a thoughtful touch and made the room feel cool and welcoming. Breakfast was amazing, genuinely well above our expectations. There was plenty of choice, everything was fresh and the quality was excellent. The hotel staff were brilliant throughout our stay. Every query we had was handled quickly, kindly and with a smile. It really made a difference. Thank you for an amazing experience. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.
Nothing — we genuinely couldn’t fault anything during our stay.
Great value for money staff where very helpful room was Great couldn't fault it
Staff were very helpful and the hotel was very pleasant. Breakfast was also very good.
Breakfast was very good staff attentive, location good
The room was a little tired
Service, room was clean and comfortable, a nice welcome and the food was excellent
Was a bit warm but that was more to do with the weather than a fault of the hotel
Great location and parking included
Small attic room and soft mattress
Comfortable bed. Nice size room. Great location. Friendly reception staff. Nice food.
Noisy outside area below bedroom window. Tight limited parking. Miserable bar staff.
The atmosphere of the hotel. Polite staff, clean, comfortable, scilent room. Delicious breakfast. 2 min. from the bus stop.
