Food and beverage was excellent with lovely attentive service. Beautiful pub and surroundings. Room was quiet and nice bathroom with a good powerful water supply!
Our room was cramped and rather tired with stains on the carpet, it was comfortable though. Bathroom, bath and shower were good and clean.
Great location. Loved having cows outside. Friendly staff. Restaurant was amazing, great food.
I think the only little thing is probably that the room was directly above the entrance so you could hear and see people coming in and out of the pub/restaurant. Pleasant surprise that it wasn't an issue into the evening.
Memorable so desireable. Will definitely return again and again!
Nothing. Amazing.
Good location , friendly staff, good room size, good food, clean bathroom
Badly stained carpets, biscuit wrappers under the bed, couldn’t get TV to work
It was beautifully positioned, stunning building.
The stairs to the accommodation were a bit rickety
Location, good restaurant and staff very helpful
Dinner provided first night with no notice, excellent meal Continental breakfast excellent
Booked again after we stayed last year. Room was great staff friendly and attentive just an all round great place to stay
Nothing...all was perfect
The hotel has a relaxed atmosphere, and the staff were all friendly and helpful.
The hotel met our expectations
Great location from Cromer Polite staff in outdoor pizza hut and at breakfast
Impolite staff in restaurant. Decided to enjoy the family area outside with our 3 year old daughter and ordered £35 worth of pizza and extras, as well as a bottle of wine. When it started to rain we went inside to be told the restaurant was full and we couldn't sit in the main area. When asked where we should go, it was suggested we should either go back outside in the rain to the gazebo - which was full, sit outside in the rain under the table umbrellas at the front of the property, or go sit in the bar area. The response came across rude and unhelpful. Asking us to go back outside in the rain was disgusting with a young child. The response should have been - let me find you a table in the bar. We also paid for a room for three, a few days after booking an email was sent asking for an extra £30 to put up a camp bed in the room. I rejected the request, only to find on arrival the bed was in the room. I raised this after checking in and the lady at the bar removed the cost from our bill. Was either a cheeky addition or lack of communication. At breakfast the staff the night before only made up a table for 2, so there was only 2 croissants available. Again lack of communication as the room was booked for three. The ensuite had some disgusting orange mold fungus either side of the shower door, and the shower gel was topped up with water. This was meant to be a nice family mini break, we were made to feel unwelcome. Manors cost nothing. We won't be returning.
Traditional pub, well-styled and cosy room for 1. The room had coffee making facilities, lovely toiletries and clean, fluffy towels. I felt comfortable as a single traveller sitting in the bar enjoying a couple of drinks after a day exploring nearby. The breakfast was perfectly adequate for myself - I much prefer a continental style offering though some may wish to pay extra for a cooked option. There was plentiful yoghurt, fruit, pastries, toast and preserves aswell as tea or coffee. There were newspapers also on offer to read which was pleasant at breakfast. The room was hot and only had a small window but there was an efficient tower fan that helped. Would recommend and although I didn't eat at the pub, the menu looked varied and reasonably priced.
Room and food was very nice
Took nearly an hour to be brought a pint. Staffing?
Dinner was excellent, lovely restaurant and cosy lounge area. Breakfast was continental on first morning and we chose cooked on second morning. Both excellent. Room was well appointed, staff had added a tower fan which was much needed due to very hot weather. There were little touches which go a long way to recommending the hotel.
Slight lack of space in bathroom, an extra shelf added would have been appreciated. In the bedroom there was inadequate shelving. Very slight adjustments needed.
Friendly .. beds comfy , great food xx
The bathroom pictures were full of dust.. and the bathroom walls were soap stained by sink …. there was old water in kettle & Coffee machine on arrival ..
The breakfast was good - a nice selection for anybody not wanting a cooked breakfast, whilst still meeting the needs of those who wanted a cooked option. The host was very friendly and took care to make sure our needs were met.
Felt we received good value for our money, there wasn’t anything we didn’t like.
Lovely old pub. Excellent food Lovely staff
Lovely staff who were very accommodating, tasty breakfast, lots of space in the car park and great rooms

Very welcoming on arrival and fun, quirky place to stay.
Location .Lovely venue Staff lovely and helpful Bed comfortable , shower very good Had continental breakfast very nice
Nothing happy with everything
Didn't expect an included breakfast! Thank you. Very hot weather, fan in room was welcome. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Tricky to park on a very busy hot evening!
The room was a good size with nice tea/coffee facilities. Bed was comfortable and in the extreme heat the room had been kept as cool as it could, also had a fan in the room to help cool it.
The television was intermittent, perhaps due to the heat but it was annoying. Also the room The Watermill is over the kitchen extractor fan so it is noisy, there were earplugs provided but I don't want to sleep with earplugs in. The kitchen closed mid-evening and the fan went off but it came on intermittently in the night.
Good continental breakfast . Comfortable quiet room .
Very hot room due to heatwave . Fan provided not up to the job .
Breakfast a little basic.
A plague of flies
Beautiful hotel with beautiful peaceful grounds, there is a road very close by but it causes no issues at night. Room was very comfortable and clean with everything we needed. The bar is perfect and the food is amazing! I had the sausage and mash which was very good, it doesn't come with sides which can be purchased separately but this didn't inconvenience us at all. Breakfast was continental but it was fine for us. Staff very friendly especially a lady who was working breakfast our first morning and another lady I think works in the kitchen, she was so welcoming on our first night and we had a lovely conversation with her and her husband on our last night, both definitely a credit to the kings head. This place is a gorgeous hidden gem. Thank you for a great birthday stay .
FLYS! Which cant be helped. There was reflector fans everywhere to deter them but they were rather annoying. Wouldn't stop me from coming again though.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room, comfortable, excellent fan in the room which helped to keep us cool in the heat. Food was very good.
The flies.
En verano tiene una terraza espectacular donde comer o cenar. Menú típico de pub inglés pero un poco más sofisticado y super casero
Familiarity
The bathroom leaked downstairs because the bath screen needs to be adjusted so it doesn’t open over the bathroom floor and flood below. I felt very disappointed when told I had created a leak, Install blocks so the screen cannot open over the floor - problem solved!
Staff were very welcoming and helpful, the food was very good,. facilities were extensive, excellent location peaceful and close to Holt
The accommodation was very tired... stained carpets, broken window blind, dusty radiator, poorly sprung matrass, Stair banister rail was sticky
Location fine. Continental breakfast perfectly adequate and pleasant.
No non-slip mat for the shower. Bathroom for this particular room tiny! We were there during the heatwave. Thank God they had a fan. It was still very warm even with it but without it it would have been unbearable. Pub/hotels like this cannot cope with excessive heat.
Lot old charm, Excellent position.
It’s charm
A minor issue with the room was rectified immediately and efficiently. Staff were freindly and curteous. The outside eating area in the garden was wonderful, with lots to occupy children.
Evening meal and breakfast were both very good, but I personally would have liked more cereal options (eg a fruit & fibre-type option).
The staff were super friendly abd helpful. My Mum is 90 with various sensory and digestive issues and they really accommodated her needs. The bed was really comfortable.
Although they replenished the hit drinks, bottle water wasn't, although there's always a tap. Cups weren't cleaned. Maybe they don't do "house keeping" unless specifically asked, I was just surprised. Didn't detract from a great stay and I was able to sort out. Continental brekki was a bit thin. No cold meats, cheese, or hard boiled egg.
The Hotel staff were very warm and welcoming. The breakfast was lovely and plentiful. The hotel is in a beautiful location, ideal for visiting local attractions and beaches.
The room was clean and the bed was very comfy. However, the room and bathroom could do with a refresh! There is a clash of different styles. We just felt that the upstairs did not reflect on the beautiful downstairs and the building itself. However, we did enjoy our stay and would visit again!
Lovely room, comfy bed Good breakfast
Full length mirror on the back of the bathroom door facing the toilet!
Setting. Dining room Bedroom very hot and stained carpet
Bedroom carpet stained No air con
The location was rural and quiet. Building attractive.
The breakfast was basic for a continental. No protein.
Very dog friendly

Room, staff and rate excellent apart from no door handle inside shower. Large comfortable bed and tasteful decoration. Good pint at bar.
Single glazed front room and gravel drive meant cars woke me up from 0500hrs. Food was ridiculously expensive and not best quality for what we got. Lamb rump was £29, bitty and not much of it, we had to pay another £4.50 for a few potatoes! Would happily stay there again if rear facing room were available.but we would eat in Holt.
Fan in room, ear plugs next to bed, friendly staff, Garden, comfy room,
Late Breakfast, toilet flush not good,
Great location, friendly and efficient staff. It was nice to have a check out at 11 so we had time to do Park run at Sheringham , come back to have a shower and have breakfast before we left!
The rooms were beautiful with everything you could need. Gorgeous location and the coast and holt was easily accessible
Nothing
Everything was good
Garden Peas with my meal, too dry.
Continental breakfast was very good. Evening meal a tad expensive, but overall good food, only downside was the Yorkshire Pudding with the Sunday Roast. YP's are meant to be crisp on the outside and light and fluffy inside. The 1 presented was a soggy excuse. But the beef was superb.
As above - Yorkshire Pud. Other small niggle was total lack of any drawer space in the room, too much impractical arty decor, and the small inconvenience of no-one knowing if the cold water in the room was tank or mains.
Dinner on the first night was good, although rather expensive. The room was nicely decorated.
At dinner on the second night, I had to send back the starter as it was inedible. From that point on, the staff did the absolute minimum, eg. the room was not serviced for the last 2 days. Breakfast had very limited options. The room was 'bijou' ie. very small!
Pleasant staff, very comfortable bed, appreciated the fan for the quite warm room, loads of hot water and good shower. Included breakfast was decent. Quiet area and some pleasant walks.
Evening meals good but pricey and a bit fussy, and the wine was extremely expensive by bottle or glass.
The village was pretty and it was in a good location.
The small Continental breakfast was very small. Having to pay for a cooked breakfast.
Beautiful
Nothing
A good nights sleep and an excellent shower
The location excellent and our evening meal excellent
Very soft mattress, not a good nights sleep. Then no hot water on first morning and had cold shower st 5am before starting a MacMillan Mighty Hike 26 miles from Cromer...so not a good start to the day, no reduction in price as water would be hot by 9am!!
Location was great. Staff were friendly , food was delicious.
We had a pump outside our room and it went on and off all night! They provided ear plugs in the room but unfortunately I cannot use them . We slept on though
Location is brilliant for nearby Holt and the coast alike Lovely garden for relaxing and great for the dog The staff are all very hospitable
Slight drain smell In the bathrooms & property maintenance ie decoration inside and out
Welcoming staff and comfortable room.
Nothing
The building and location
Not enough space to put toiletries in the bathroom
Location, facilities, garden for the dogs and parking was easy. Shirt walk to Holt and very friendly staff
WiFi was hit and miss, food and drink slightly over priced
Perfect place to stay
Beautiful room. Fantastic staff. Fabulous food
Nothing
Little touches, coffee pod machine in rooms etc. high class toiletries
Great location for exploring Holt and North Norfolk. Friendly staff and good continental breakfast. Atmospheric pub with letting rooms.
Bedroom we had was small although nicely decorated. No where to place cloths and bags other than on the floor. I was kept awake most of the night by exterior extraction fans as kitchen roof was outside our window. We were told the fans would be turned off after the kitchen closed down. One possibly was but the other kept coming on and off all night. My wife didn't hear anything though. Evening meal was ok but my wife's catch of the day (sea trout) came with a sauce and no veg of any description. Very strange although we did luckily order a side dish which was awful. We have stayed here before and the food was better. Maybe just an off night. Our room was good value but maybe that was because of the kitchen fans.
Nice building and Location
Not very inviting eg fires not lit, no candles, felt cold
Lovely cosy atmosphere with character.comfortable bars and restaurant areas .Quiet background music . Very helpful and friendly staff.Excellent food . Comfortable room with view over meadow and trees ..lots of crows ! Great location for north Norfolk coast .Nearby road but minimal noise . Definitely recommend.
Nothing
How quiet and near to Holt
Nothing
Room was excellent, lovely restaurant and bar
Cooked breakfast not available until 09:30am which is too late.
Very warm welcome and excellent food.
Those travelling on business should note that the wifi is very poor and because there is no access to any of the public rooms before 08.30 there is nowhere to work before that time.
Cosy room and building
Food portions were tiny especially for the cost
The staff were wonderful friendly & made sure that our stay was perfect . It was lovely & relaxing

Sunday lunch when we arrived was delicious.
Only offering continental breakfast. Very limited choice. Also a lot of flies in the restaurant. A lack of space in the room, no storage space.
Convenience to Holt and the coast. Quiet location and nice old pub.
Car park potholed- needs repairs
Excellent reception, friendliness, and food. A great bar and service throughout the stay.
Beautiful pub, friendly staff, good food. Comfortable clean bedroom. Great continental breakfast included. Nice toiletries and good tea and coffee making facilities.
Only slight downside was bathroom was a bit small
