Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The room was large, beautifully clean and well finished. The bathroom was exceptionally good, including both a bath and a walk in shower. breakfast, when we finally got to the dining room, was excellent, but spoilt by having to walk through town to get there!!
We were not told on booking that our room was in a separate building from the main hotel, which meant that we had a 300m walk each morning for breakfast- we would not have booked had we known this due to sight and mobility issues. Walking in the rain to breakfast is not my idea of a relaxing break! Also we were not old that our room was on the second floor, up two flights of very narrow steep stairs and that there was no lift- another big issue for the sight and mobility problems I suffer from
Nice and quiet
We didn’t know until the day before we would be staying in an annex down the rd. this was ok but every time you needed milk you had to walk 5 minutes back to the hotel to get some. The meals in the evening wasn’t amazing and when I ordered gin and tonic I got tonic and ice.
The staff were very professional and friendly. The room was comfortable with plenty of light, mirrors, room for clothing and personal effects. There were nice choices for hand , shower products. There were plenty of choices for Breakfast with plenty of area's to sit. The property had a good car park.
My room was above the kitchen so very warm ( fans were provided). The door to our room was a bit sticky and had to bang it to close it.
Great location. Lovely room. Friendly & efficient staff. Great breakfast.
Bathroom could do with a refurb.
Excellent location and friendly efficient staff.
Nothing - all good and looking forward to returning.
Goed ontbijt
Te dik en te warm dekbed en te warme kamer
Nice place, most recommendable. In the very centre of a nice rural little town. Friendly staff and a good kitchen. Very good breakfast
Just all ok here
Fantastic location with parking, assuming you get their before they all go. I liked being away from the main pub in the Lawn rooms
Staff in resturant /pub seemed a little lacking, and could do with more on a busy bank hol weekend.
Stayed there before.
Room was a bit small.
Central location and lovely historical features. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Noisy! We had problems getting to sleep because of the noisy family in the next room to us. The children were very loud and jumping around so much the walls literally shook! The shower wasn’t very clean - the grouting and joints could do with a good deep clean.
Fantastic location
Room needed a good clean. There was a fan in the room but behind and around it there was rubbish.
Location was in the centre of Holt. Staff were lovely and friendly. Very clean
Nothing, everything was great
The staff were superb.
Great food
Location.
Dirty, small, expensive. Shower dribbled.
Beautiful setting on the Bure river , big spacious bedroom , good breakfast
Unhelpful bar staff and maze to find room No shelves for clothes
friendly staff, well appointed room, good toiletries, excellent breakfast
there could be more signage for room numbers
Excellent.
Nothing.
Comfortable rooms in the Lawns, the annex. Well appointed bathroom with terrific shower. Nice restaurant in the main hotel, delicious food. Lovely staff.
No full-length mirror in my room.
Great location , food was good and we had a lovely room
Nothing
Staff were fantastic and location was great
Shower didn't have the best hot water situation
Right in the middle of Holt so within an easy walk of everything A lovely, freshly cooked to order breakfast - with plenty of cold options too (cereals, fruit, pastries etc) We ate in the restaurant in the evening, when we arrived. A very good meal at a reasonable price The bed was very comfortable so we both had a very good night's sleep The staff were very welcoming and attentive
Can't think of anything
The location was excellent, very welcoming ,fan in room was much appreciated with the hot weather, breakfast really good with a great choice from cereal /fruit to a full English.
The only downside was the pillows found really uncomfortable but that's personal choice
Very good, was able to eat outside.
Stayed in a heat wave, the fan in the room barely moved the air but was better than nothing.
Interesting old building but very spacious
Annex a little far from the main building
Lawn rooms were very spacious and clean, comfy bed, dog friendly .
Distance to the Feathers Hotel , not near for breakfast or drinks .
You can hear people snoring in the next door room
Breakfast was great: all cooked to order. Gluten free diet catered for. The staff are FABULOUS. They really did do everything possible too make our stay wonderful (such as squeezing us in for a dinner reservation when there weren't actually any tables left) and giving us a slightly later checkout. They also gave my parents a ground floor room when I hadn't specified before that this would be preferred. The hotel is perfectly situated in the town centre (but still quiet!). Lovely garden area for pre-dinner drinks in the evening sunshine.
No fridge in the room. We were given a thermos style bottle of milk when we arrived for tea/coffee but this wasn't renewed for the second day and therefore we couldn't have a tea/coffee before breakfast. Room 18 in The Lawns building is a ground floor room with a conservatory on the back door. The conservatory is a lovely touch but it was very hot when we were there and it wasn't possible to have the doors open (as it was a ground floor) overnight so it was very hot. There was a fan provided though.
The Lawns rooms were lovely, they had a garden area where you could relax
The staff were extremely helpful and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. We arrived after dinner service, but Tony ensured we had some food. He plated up food from the Sunday roast and had it ready whilst we put our bags in our room. They did it for us on the house, which was very generous. The bar was lovely, serving a great range of beers and local gins and English wine. The cocktail list was excellent. The Cointreau Margarita was exceptionally good ! The breakfast staff were excellent, and the menu was outstanding. We had the Eggs Royale, beautiful. It was a wonderful find, and we would highly recommend a stay here, we would definitely be coming back!
Everything was perfect. Location, staff, food and drinks, and our room. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. Thank you.
We stayed in the Lawns which was an old Georgian house. Our room was comfortable but we expected more seating within the room. Teas and coffee weee supplied
We did t know until last morning that their was a Guest Fridge situated in the communal area Previously i was walking to pub to get milk for our teas and coffees
Lovely room and great food
Bed was small, floorboards a little creaky
Great central with good parking
Miserable very expensive room
Good breakfast, freshly cooked to order. Excellent en-suite shower and bathroom.
Would have liked an armchair in the bedroom. Evening meal menu a bit uninspiring except on the Wednesday Thai night.
Very warm welcome and brilliantly situated in Holt.
Unfortunately paid for breakfast but it didn't start until 8am so to late for me
Very friendly staff and location central to lovely shops
The breakfasts were really good and we enjoyed them. The evening meal we had on our first night at The Feathers was also good but we didn't stay for any other evening meals because there wasn't anything we fancied to eat on the menu.
The evening food menu was limited. We felt we had been given the worst room in the hotel [room 15] and wonder if this is the policy for those booking through Booking.com. There was blood on one of the cushions, dirty marks on the wall and the toilet seat, although clean, was damaged through use and needed replacing. We were given fresh milk in a container on arrival, but by the morning it had gone off and was unusable. Each day we had to ask for milk at reception and I feel it would be better to have Long Life milk supplied in the room.
Great place to stay in Holt, friendly staff, good food and beer, great location for exploring.
Nothing I can think of
Fantastic charming hotel in the center of Holt, which is a lovely little town definitely worthing a stop. Very well and carefully decorated rooms, super clean, great food and very nice restaurant (fish and chips is excellent).
the only negative point is that the windows do not open a lot and that is might be very hot in the room despite the fan that is provided
Cleanliness, caricature of the building
Misleading when it came to the Lawns rooms. This was a seperate building approximately 400 yards away. All food served in the main building. Ok when the weather is fine.
Excellent location . Lovely hotel . Very friendly helpful staff.
Nothing
Our room was in the Lawns which is some distance from the main hotel. We had no idea about this when we booked. In poor weather it would have been difficult.
Very comfy with nice garden, had one of the chalets in the garden good size plenty of space for me and Monty (my dog)
There was nothing I disliked really Didn’t stay there much during the day as out exploring
The Staff Room & location, are excellent
Bar area very tired, beer choice as with all Chestnut pubs is poor, the house wine is expensive & near on undrinkable
Everything was amazing! Loved the size of the rooms. The beds were very comfortable and the amenities - top-notch! We will most certainly return. Scrumptious breakfast!
The food at the restaurant was good, but it could easily have been great. A sprinkle of Parmesan on the soup, a basket of bread while we wait, a Caesar salad that needs serious seasoning, and the Thai chicken that needs much more flavor and spice. Edible but not memorable. Breakfast, on the other hand, was amazing!! 5 stars!
Breakfast was delicious, with a vast choice of freshly-prepared dishes, and excellent service. Dinner on Sunday evening was restricted to Sunday roasts, but there was plenty of choice, and again, food was delicious and service was excellent. All staff were consistently pleasant, helpful and welcoming. The ancient inn is a really beautiful setting, and Holt is a great place from which to explore North Norfolk.
Although the rooms were very comfortable, the bathroom needed a little updating. The facilities were great, but a little tired, and the tile grout in the shower could have been fresher.
Comfy newly refurbished spacious room, staff were lovely, food and drinks fab
Nothing
Friendly staff and very helpful.
My room was a good 5 minute walk from the hotel and I am disabled so this was not good enough so we had to find alternative accommodation. The Feathers was booked through booking.com and they did not inform me of the room being elsewhere. The Feathers kindly reimbursed me half of my fees through booking.com and booking.com were supposed to pay me but it then took a month with emails going forward and back and then finally they paid me back but it was £13 short!!!
Welcoming and comfortable
Centre of town
Lots of room for us and our dog
Location, staff.
Bed was not particularly comfortable with a dip in the middle Room would benefit from some armchairs.
Location excellent, breakfast good. Bed comfy.
I booked to stay at The Feathers but had a phone call 2 days before we came down and after we had paid full amount to say we were staying in the Lawns further up the road. Wasn't happy, didn't want to walk along high street for breakfast in morning and get hair messed up, then to walk back after. No bar at the Lawns. Gentleman I spoke to was very nice and put us in a room in the Feathers. Had dinner there, menu not very good, struggled to find something picked Ceasar salad, worst I'd ever had. Breakfast was good.
Excellent room
Room was expensive & it was a walk to the reception & restaurant where breakfast was served. There were unusual & limiting meal choices for the evening meal.
Very helpful and friendly staff, we had bikes with us and they kindly gave us safe storage over night. Warm room, comfy bed, nice bathroom with good towels. Big TV but need to sign in to BBC app to use major channels. Tea, coffee and biscuits with fresh milk. Small beer garden. Good restaurant and bar with lovely breakfast with a good choice inc cereal and fruit. In a nice town with lots of shops.
We were in room 9 and there was a noisy pump/compressor running until 11pm but on again by 7am.
The hotel has thought of the weary traveller. Everything from the limescale-free kettle to camomile tea bags and hot choc, security bolts on the old sash windows so you can get fresh air at night. Nice deco, lovely clean ensuite room and the offer of fresh milk for tea was all appreciated. Because of early morning dash to a building site, I only checked out a few minutes past 11am and they still sat me down for breakfast. Thanks Feathers.
Location. Staff. Food. Room
Nothing really. Couple of pointers re room - 28. Gorgeous bath but no reachable toiletries. Hot water tap needs adjustment. Gorgeous room
Breakfast was out of the world excellent service as well
Lift
Room was lovely and modern. Nice coffee machine and parking close by.
Great location and super welcoming staff.
Everything was great although some of the communal areas could do with a bit of painting but it didn’t detract at all from a great stay and we’d happily stay again
Nice decor. Rooms comfortable. Good parking and excellent locstion
No ground floor room unless using extension up the road but having to come back for breakfast
Location. Friendly staff with understanding of autism and disability- thank you. Restaurant but would have liked more fresh fish choices for mains other than fish and chips. Easy parking by The Lawns accommodation. Room really good. Very comfy bed.
Noise from other guests. Talking as they walked passed the room. Woken too early at 0600hrs ? Guests or staff. Very narrow pavement and dangerous to walk to The Feathers for restaurant and check in and out from The Lawns. Bus mounted the pavement and only room for single person to walk so not ideal with an adult holding a childs hand. Not enough fish for main meal- only one- fish and chips. Ordering hot breakfast and having to leave a child each time at the table to make the toast to go with the hot breakfast brought to the table. First female waitress.not wanting us to sit.in quiet area with autistic child- no understanding amd made comment not laid up for breakfast- rude. Rest of staff were amazing. Amanda so lovely to my son thank you.
The location and the views from our room
The bathroom was outdated and the shower was poor. The water went everywhere and impossible to get a good temperature
Comfortable bed. Smart TV Lovely terrace and bar area. Good breakfast. Easy to park. So.w staff very helpful . Would stay again but upgrade
Room smaller than expected & bathroom tiny. Might have been better to have chosen their rooms at the Lawns as it's not far
Peaceful location, handy for town
Room was uncomfortably hot and airless
We had a lovely stay at the Feathers. The room was warm and very comfortable with a hot modern shower. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. It was fully dog friendly which made for a very relaxing and easy stay. The Bar and Restaurant had a nice open friendly atmosphere and the food was great.
All good. It's an old building though so expect uneven floors and old sash single glazed windows.
The character of the building, the food, everywhere nice and warm on very cold days, the staff all very pleasant. Bed was very comfortable.
Shower very small and no bath.
Comfortable., quite room. Great staff
Nothing worth mentioning
We actually had a Family Room, it seems that we had been allocated The Lawns, this was our 3rd visit to the Feathers and a) we didn't know about The Lawns and b) we specifically like staying at the Feathers. The Receptionist went to the effort to find us room there, which we appreciated. We ate in the restaurant each of our 3 evenings, food was good, we thought the menu a little limited. Breakfast choices were excellent, the chef produced wonderful poached eggs! The staff throughout the hotel were pleasant, helpful and very hard working.
We needed to remember to ask for milk for our room ( we forgot!) WIFI was a bit temperamental!
Each of the staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. The décor - a notch or two above what might have been expected - class without cliché. Good breakfasts with plenty of choice. Easy parking too.
Really cannot think of a thing!
Great location
Clean and excellent breakfast and location
The parking is an issue if been out for day no parking available
The room was good and the bar had a good atmosphere
Nothing
Well presented
Nothing
Amazing place in the heart of Holt. Very comfy bed! Tasty breakfast. Would certainly recommend for stay in Holt
Perfect
Everything
Very good location for Holt and the Norfolk coast. Food for dinner and breakfast was amazing. Handy car parking at the back. Courtesy call from hotel before visit.
Tip-if you are eating and weather is cold outside, avoid, if you can, sitting near front door to avoid cold draught when it opens. However for us the staff kindly moved us at the earliest opportunity.
Convenient position in centre of Holt Great room very reasonable price and fabulous breakfast
Lovely room at The Lawns. Comfortable beds. Good facilities and food.
Booking .com relayed the wrong booking to the Hotel but fortunately the staff were able to correct it swiftly so we had the correct room we had booked with facilities we had requested.
Location, rooms, food and excellent staff.
Breakfast excellent
The bathroom wasn’t very big and the coffee machine was difficult to use.
Great location with parking for the car. Lovely room in the lawns building which had a garden area, conservatory and communal lounge.
Nothing really
The staff are absolutely brilliant they were always polite and managed to look after us beyond expectations.
Nothing
Excellent location, friendly & efficient staff and good rooms.
Dinner in the evening was disappointing - our fish pies were warm (not hot) & rather bland.
I think you. Need a pump for the shower in Room 14
