This guesthouse really doesnt deserve some of the negative reviews. We've just come back from a pleasent 5 day stay here. The staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The room had its own bathroom and shower with an air con unit provided. The beds were clean and very comfortable. If, like us, you only require a basic room as you are.spending time sight seeing, then this is perfect. I think the main issues here in respect of previous review are peoples expectations. If you want a 5 star hotel ypu need to book one. This little guesthouse was perfect for what we needed. A lovely old building full of character. It's in a great location for trevi and Spanish steps with lots of local restaurants dotted around. Thank you for a lovely week in your guesthouse :)
Camera pulita letti comodissimi
Tutto benissimo
Posizione
Pulizia, stanza praticamente vuota, niente acqua bagni sporchi e senza saponi
Great location

Great stay, wonderful staff. I would stay again. Facility basic.
We stayed in the Gialel B&B in mid-September 2025 for 4 nights. The room was clean, and relatively inexpensive for a city-centre location, and there was a small fridge in the room, but that's about where the good points ended. The walls are paper thin, so you hear everything happening in the next room. Romance is out the window when you can hear the person in the next room using the bathroom in intimate detail. Our room door was close to the reception desk and main door, so every time someone opened the main door or their room door you heard and felt the slam. The front desk is unmanned from roughly 8pm (they say 10pm, but I never saw anyone that late). If you have a problem after that, you're on your own. We had other guests ringing the entrance phone persistently for twenty minutes, which could be heard very loudly when we wanted to sleep. The room and main door locks use tiny rotating keypad locks. The keys are like those of a calculator watch, so good luck hitting the button accurately every time. There are no swipe cards or physical keys, only codes. I recommend taking a photo of the code slip they give you, and adding it to your favourites, since you'll want to refer to it. We paid the city tourist tax at the front desk when we first arrived. We paid in cash and I saw one of the ladies behind the desk place the cash in her purse. This is a small operation, so maybe this is normal, but I asked for a receipt. I strongly recommend you get a receipt too, and keep it safe

We paid in cash and I saw one of the ladies behind the desk place the cash in her purse. This is a small operation, so maybe this is normal, but I asked for a receipt. I strongly recommend you get a receipt too, and keep it safe. On the second night we had a knock on the room door from a member of staff who said we hadn't paid the city tax yet, and must do so. I presented her with the receipt, and after a phone call she conceded that we had paid. The next evening we came back to the room to find a printed note in the room that stated we hadn't paid, and that if we didn't pay immediately, the room lock code would be changed. I confronted the member of staff on the front desk with this note and the receipt once again. After yet another phone call, she said it was a mistake on their part and that everything was fine. At this point we were now worried about leaving our room, as the front desk staff would likely not be there when we returned to dinner and we could be locked out for someone else's mistake! Luckily, this was not the case. The room had no safe. I consider this to be a basic necessity, even in the cheapest of accommodation, and especially in a city renowned for pick-pockets. You don't want to be walking around with all your valuables on you in Rome, and the room access code was VERY easily guessed. I suspect all the rooms had a code based on the same number pattern, so anyone could enter your room... The bathroom had liquid hand soap available at the basin and in the shower, but no shampoo or body wash. It's not the end of the world, but remember to bring shampoo with you. There is a pharmacy below the B&B if you forget. I would suggest that if your budget can stretch a bit further, you consider alternative accomodation in the centre of Rome.
Great place, and the staff very friendly and helpful. The location is excellent. The room was clean and spacious for Italy. But there was not AC.
"The room was decent—nothing exceptional. You get what you pay for ..the positive I can say is that it was close to the train station.
Easy check in and by bus stops

It’s a pity that the property is not kept to a standard in such a nice area. Lift was not working, nor was the AC. The mattress gave me back pain just after one night. Staff was nice, kind and offered to carry our luggage to 4th floor! The room was clean but the amenities were too backdated! I would not consider this property even for a short stay unless the owner invests in its redo.
After reading some of the reviews I was a little nervous but on arriving the staff were friendly and very helpful. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean. The room had an air conditioning unit which some reviews stated it didn't. It was a very pleasant stay and I would stay again.

This is not a bad place to stay especially for the frugal or thrifty traveler; however, I highly recommend avoiding this place in the intense heat. The rooms have no AC, and you will bake alive. Once the outside temperature reached 100°F, I actually abandoned this hotel for another around the block. I would only recommend this place for the cooler late fall, winter.
I’m a 21yr old and visited Rome for the first time, wanting a cheap and affordable place to stay that was in walking distance to the city center. Gialel is exactly that. I went during peak season and they didn’t rip me off, and it was a 15 minute walk to Trevi. No AC, but if you simply use the room as a “rest stop”, it works wonders. Clean sheets, bathroom, and friendly staff. Not much more needed than that if you’re visiting Rome on a budget.
It was nice and near to the main train station and close to the bus stops that would take you straight to the city centre and sites. It was also right be a mini shop and a pharmacy!
They didn’t have a vacuum that I could borrow. It was for my vacuum bag!
Nice room with AC. No tea/coffee making facilities in room but did have a fridge
2 kids (11 and 13) wife and I, 5 day stay in Rome. We booked this bnb based on price however later checking the reviews we were nervous ahead of arrival. We had booked 4 person room and specified need for a private bathroom (which we were required to pay extra for). On arrival, staff were pleasant and helpful, though limited Englis, we did our best to speak italian but made for a confusing conversation at times. But overall very helpful. The room was slacious, or sparse, a bit of both in all honesty. There was a double bed and bunk beds, checked all mattresses which appeared clean and bug free.Under beds was dirty, dust and some small rubbish. Bathroom and shower was clean. Only one toilet roll provided. Towels only changed day before we left, so 4 days for the towels. I Do have to say the key codes for the room we were in so so obvious i could have guessed it in 3 tries, perhaps new, more difficult codes would be reassuring. The location however was superb. Much much better than the reviews would have you believe.
The staff was amazing and cared about their guests. The room was spacious, clean, and had access to a couple of bathrooms. Great location to Termini Train Station.
Would have like to have some warm breakfast before going out. No breakfast no hot water. Also i understand its there safety, rhe loxk combination was a trip/ hard
Our accommodations were very sparce only 2 electric outlets. Bathroom accommodations were, "Afghanistan" like. Tiny shower
Rooms are minimalist tasteful modern designed. The extra seating was appreciated. The blackout windows, by virtual of an electronic pull-down cover, are great. Nice balcony for all rooms. While limited, breakfast was great. I had the best scrambled eggs that I ever had. Breakfast was simple, but all that was needed.
I have been travelling and staying in many places all around the world, in Europe, Africa and Asia - this is the first time ever I have regretted to book in that place. Quality and service at the reception were very poor, with a lady who did not treat me the way I was expecting because I asked some questions about the fees for the Roma town hall. She was very agressive and stated some infos which were not true to justify the fees. This place is overpriced, because for what I paid (which was a reasonable price) I would have expected a decent place. But it was not and my mistake not to check before booking the place. I am glad Rome is a beautiful city but this hotel made my stay less nice than expected. I would not recommend to stay there, with family or as a couple
There was no one in the office when we arrived. Not knowing how to initiate a call via WhatsApp, a friendly store owner allowed us to use his cellphone. Friendly and helpful staff came quality to check us in. The room is extremely basic, with only had a refrigerator, but no other amenities, not even cups. Staff gave us some verify flimsy plastic cups. After putting 2 together, that was not enough. The elevator was only allowed with luggage. Me at 71 and wife at 68, had to walk up from the ground floor to the 4th floor, 5 initial steps and 19.steps to ea h floor above. Need to inform guuests, in advance, to know how to do calls via WhatsApp. The walking distance to the nearest Hop-on-Hope-Off stop and Metro was a blt long, but doable.
If you arrive before the check in time there is no way to enter the building and no one to ask questions of. If you are dropped off by their transfer you can’t drop your bags off, as they state, because you can’t get in the building. The office is on the second floor, which wasn’t communicated to us. The elevator is not accessible so you carry your bags up two floors. The woman who arrived to check us in was very friendly and helpful but we were already aggravated by that point. Also, they are NOT a bed and breakfast as advertised. We were notified at check in that they are a guest house and don’t have breakfast even though all of their advertising and signage says Bed And Breakfast. Overall not really happy with this listing

The room was located a little off the beaten path, but still close to both metro and bus lines for easy access. We had to leave the window open for cool air, but the neighbors were a little loud. The staff was wonderful and helpful. The hot water cycled through cold to warmish and was hot at one point. Just don't expect a long hot shower. I would stay again. The price and location were good.
The staff was nice and helpful, the locations is grate not to far by walk from the Trevi fountain, accessible by public transportation. The place was cleaned everyday but not spotless.
very convenient and close to all the attractions of Rome
We came to the big brown port, and opening it was a bit confusing, but got in after pressing the front door buttons. The staff and owners were really friendly and helpful. No problem there. It was all really safe, and the beds were clean. The bathroom could have had a little more cleaning done, but you get what you pay for. Over did the conditions and location match well with the price:)
First of all I have to warn people who check Gialel reviews here before booking holiday package on online platforms such as lastminute.com, booking.com etc. All those platforms are misleading advertising the double bedroom with private bathroom as 'double or twin beds'. There are no twin beds in the hotel as well as no mentioning about twin beds on its web-site. Unfortunately, I trusted lastminute.com and did not check Gialel web-site. As a result me and my son had to share the double bed. I am really grateful to the lady met us on the reception, who kindly provided us with the second quilt and quilt cover. So, we could have at least some separation to sleep. What about other things we were really happy to stay in Gialel. The room is very basic, but we did not need anything special as we only slept there and had shower, and I did not expect anything special for the money I paid. The amount was really ridiculous for the centre of Rome. This is like hostel price which would be enough for comfortable bed and hot shower. However, we were provided with the kettle, TV, small fridge and some toiletries. The room, toilet and shower were very clean. Rubbish was taken from the room regularly. Towels were changed once which I even did not expect as we stayed just for four nights. I loved the building which looks really old and historical with a big entry door, marble (or something like this) steps, very high ceiling and thick walls. I felt very comfortable there and slept as a log. I gave four stars, not five, just because the shower clear glass cabin is not in the toilet, but straight in the bedroom in the niche next to the window. So, no privacy there when you are taking shower which was really inconvenient, and we had to make sure we cannot see each other. Some people are complaining that there is no breakfast. However, right next to the hotel there is 'B67 Bistrot' with very good coffee and big selection of freshly made croissants and lovely Italian style sandwiches. We were happy to eat something there every morning.
Room was comfy but small. A coffee maker would have been helpful.
Five flights of stairs. While stairs are not a huge impediment to us, five flights was more than we like without the use of an elevator when we're tied.
We don’t like the shared bathroom and the noise of the construction site opposite our room. The website says B&B , but in fact no breakfast. It’s a scam.
I saw another review and it said the property is miss labeled as a B&B. I agree: it’s a B. But that doesn’t take away from the accommodations. There is construction going on across the street and with the windows closed you can’t hear it but for a slight hum. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was clean and well equipped. The staff was helpful and kind.
Beautiful rooms
Excellent location
Location is really good. Nice and clean.
Great value for money as the hotels in this location right in the city centre are very expensive. Lovely staff and superb location and room was very clean and tidy.and we got fresh towels every morning . Only thing I could criticise would be there is no air con but they give you fans so didn't bother us to much. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ As it's great value for where you are and what you get. We would stay again👍
Good location for price
Many things were broken. I was expecting two single beds but relieved a small bunk bed. One of the doors was extremely difficult to open using key.
The room I was in was terrible!! It was Oven hot!! I stayed in room 8, 4th floor with my parents and the moment I walked in I noticed that the Ac was half broken and looked like it was going to fall off any minute, very weak as well! The shower handle was very hard to turn, we had no soap for showering while the other rooms did, the bed went down as we slept on it or sat on it, the single beds mattress was just two cushion like mattresses that were very hard and thin and stuck on with velcro that I could feel the bottom of the bed!! Not to mention that our mini frodge wasnt even cold inside!! Overall, it was just a terrible room!! My cousin's came with us too and their room was very hot as well but cooler than ours, their shower handle broke off the wall and they had no Ac like us as well!! My brothers room on the 1st floor was probably the best room ever, it had Ac, a very nice and big double bed, a nice bathroom, soap to shower, basically everything we didn't!! Our room was so hot that we all woke up at 1am and went downstairs to my brothers room to sleep there. Overall, the room was absolutely atrocious! Do not come and stay at Gialel hotel, unless you want to bake alive and feel like your in a oven!!
Good area overall, pretty close to main attractions.
Had a few issues with the bath, one of the doors was broken and couldn't be closed and the wc was making some very loud strange noises.
The aircon was such a fantastic asset to the room and the staff was so friendly
Everything was perfect
I really liked how central it is and easy as a pedestrian to travel to the tourist attractions and around Roma. The room was cool with the air-conditioning, too, and it provided a comfortable place to rest after a hot, busy day. Also, the room was equipped with a fridge, which was very useful!
A fridge that works Television available in the room
Poor quality fans Old mattresses (not comfortable to sleep on) Low maintenance showers No change of sheets No available bathroom facilities No Use of lift allowed!!! Very rude owner!!!!! No breakfast included which it is stated in their name.
NEVER AGAIN!!! We went to Rome from the 15th till the 17th of July, 2024 and our stay was Gialel B&B. We started off with a bad start as the owner welcomed us with telling us that they don’t offer breakfast as it is stated in their own name and on their website!! We had our room on the fourth floor with no access of lift whatsoever! We asked politely the owner to give us the access of the key as I had my mother with me who couldn’t keep going up and down all those stairs due to health problems. The owner did not want to give us the access and not only that, she was really rude about it!!!! We paid more than 700 euros for two rooms and didn’t get the service that was displayed when we booked, we knew that there were no ac’s available but it was written that there were fans. The fans were these cheap ones that do not even move! Heated rooms in a heatwave is a disgrace! The mattresses are very old that when you sit down on them they go down with you…… showers only cold water available (which was fortunate for us that it was summer). No bins were provided in the rooms!! I wouldn’t recommend this place as your stay as we were really disappointed and we had really bad service! Moreover, owner is very rude and not understanding at all!
No
Very hot. No aircondition. The ceiling fan is very loud, which makes it difficult to sleep. Guests do not have access to the elevator.
