Provider-sourced guest reviews.
This place is very shady and unsafe. What was advertised and what we saw when we got to the place does not much one bit. Me and my sister felt unsafe in this place the locks on the doors were not reliable and the whole place was dark and shady. I would caution anybody who is looking to book this place not to do so if you value your safety! We notified the very unhelpful and unprofessional staff and left right at away with out staying there and ended up losing out our money.
Nothing to say about this property Its in bad shape and noisy Staff unavailable and office is always closed Very expensive considering you can get much better properties for $100 more
Stayed bc of convenience of location and price. Very dirty. Bed was meh. Just a quick overnight stay.
Please renovate
Very budget option. You get what you pay for. The price is unbeatable though. If you wish to visit Banff, surrounding areas and, Calgary- this hotel would be the best choice.
It seems like the carpet was never vaccumed. There is a smell in the suite. Not worth the money.
Friendly & accommodating staff; comfortable bed; clean room. On the downside, garbage & debris were strewn around the entrance. General maintenance is much needed. For example, the screen for the window was broken and not in position, the TV and remote are in need of replacement; the electrical wall sockets are worn out and should be replaced.
Poor wifi otherwise good
Carpets in main areas were old and dirty. My bedsheets were ripped. The bed was like a board. Would not recommend.
The filthiest hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Stuff smeared on the wall, dirty bathroom, ripped sheets, random dirty mattress laying on the floor when we arrived….. Issues were addressed with front desk & nothing was offered to fix them but another set of ripped sheets. I had to go buy bleach wipes to clean up the mess we didn’t make.
Old hotel
It was fine
Good place for the amount I paid!
It is dirty and lots of cockroaches.
Safe and practical. All the basic i need is in the area.
I did not stay as felt unsafe there and found the facility very dirty. Sheets were worn with holes and was afraid of contracting bed bugs although didn’t actually see any. I would never recommend this place!
All good except building is old and little smelly too.
They have the heat very high, I have to open the window but I couldn’t sleep because of the noise of the car because the highway traffic is in the front of hotel. I am not sure why they don’t vacuum the carpets in the hotel?
Easy access to canmore and banff
Dirty area around the building. Garbage, cigarette butts...
For the price the room was okay but it could of been cleaner and no air conditioning
Rooms were not clean at all. Sheets, pillow, duvet all seemed like used recently, not washed and there were visible stains on almost everything. I would not recommend this place who wants to sleep on a clean bed and a odor free room. Besides, rooms have very little privacy, i could hear snoring all night long from my adjacent room. Property is old but this can't be an excuse to keep rooms dirty and unhygienic. Book at your own risk.
The hotel is the best cost-benefit option to save money for those going to see Banff.
Generally good but cleanliness could be improved especially the carbet. Otherwise location is fantastic but quite noisy due to highway traffic.
.
After waiting 30 minutes for the employee to come check me in (he said he was cooking in the back, but didn't take the phone with him so missed my 14 phone calls...), I got checked into one if the most ill-kept rooms I've ever stayed in. There's mold on the walls in the bathroom, the toilet looks like it's never been cleaned, and there is no latch on the inside of the door. Do not stay here.
when we arrived they close. we called them but no respond
was just expecting a budget place to crash, but the heating was on too much making it unreasonably hot and couldn't leave the window open due to traffic noise... fan provided didn't work... TV had only half dozen channels and poor sound, fridge was loud, in short not a good night's sleep...
I m happy
Cleanliness
Kind of a run down dump. Clean enough but badly in need of a reno.
Good location and price. Good value for money. Kitchen. However renovation badly needed
yes i like it place and near canmore and banff.
Just plain filfy, inside and out!! I’m sure it was cleaner when we left! Will never stay there again! We seen the bad reviews but thought we would decide for ourselves. It has potential but you have to spend money to make money. Seems short staffed or the staff that’s there is just lazy!
I was looking for a place to have a good sleep after driving all day and found it.It was good value for the money
Very flexible check in/out times
This hotel is neglected . Building is run down , carpets were filthy, sheets starting to get holes, tiles in the bathroom cracked and siliconed. The bed had 4 pubic hairs , I lifted the sheets and the mattress covers are stained . Hair on the towels in the bathroom and the rooms are musty .
Bed Bugs! Checked in, discovered bed bugs shortly after with bites on my hands, forearm and wrist, flipped over the pillow and THEY scurried away. Left immediately. Front lobby was closed for the night. So went to stay elsewhere. Returned for a refund when the office opened in the morning. Was told I would get a refund. Checked my bill recently, they still charged me for the first night, and only refunded the additional nights I had booked. Just an horrendous experience!
It was really dirty and there was a lot of broken things in the room like the lamp and one of the fridges. The carpet was really stained and disgusting. There were chips in the wall and some of the outlets were crooked. The curtains were outdated and the room overall felt grimy and dinghy. The cleanliness was not there and it looked like whoever cleans does the bare minimum. The sheets were okay but it looked like the kind of place where you would get bedbugs. The lock didn't have a deadbolt and it would have been super easy to lock pick from the other side if someone wanted to come into the room unexpectedly. The place itself was convinent to get to but the state of the property was dirty and unkept. There was litter and smokes all over the front entrance lobby when you check in and it was univiting. The staff were friendly at the front desk and were great about explaining the expectations of the property but then the staff were having a party upstairs and were also smoking and drinking alcohol on the front steps of the property. There was also a fire extinguisher that was from 2001, and it was charged but again it matched the rest of the place where it was outdated and unkept. There was also a lot of dust on top of the fire extinguisher which indicated that it wasn't pulled from its socket and checked regularly. I don't know how this place has survived health and safety inspections. Would not recommend unless there are some changes made to the property.
Ok rooms. Quite area, even so close to highway.
Not clean. The stairs were not vacuumed for a long time. The table in the room was not wiped. Garbage outside and on the parking lot. Didn't stay but left when we saw the place.
For cheap choice, not too bad
The staff was very friendly with check in. The beds were a 6/10. The cleaning was nit so great outside or in hallways. The room very out dated and and the TV was not good only a couple channels and no remote. Outside could use a cleaning as ppl leave garbage all over. Was some what worth the pricing but for this location and area this place could go a long way with a little TLC. Overall I would give it a 4/10
The desk agent was very helpful and accomodating with my 1:30am arrival. He was very communicative and made my nightmare travel day much better. It's a comfortable, basic spot right off the 1. It's exactly what I needed. Thanks!
Good location to the highway and clean room.
The room where we stay is not clean the bathroom is scary, the room has no fire alarm the floor is dirty but we have to stay coz the only place we could book for last minute and to keep us warm and have place. They only have satellite 3 channels available.Good thing is we only need few hours of of sleep and hit the road.
This is a budget level hotel that is very good at providing a cozy bed at the end of the night. Do not book it if you're looking for a bath, substantial local amenities or to spend long times within your room for your vacation. The prices for off-season are fantastic, the hotel staff are very good, and the beds are lovely. The location for anything mountain-related is great! Just realize it is an older, low amenity establishment rather than expecting the world.
There was cockroaches I left and checked out I was in the room about 10. Minutes I will never go there again ! That was discussing I'm called health inspector.
Specious space
location is great. 15 min to Canmore, 20mins to Banff 30mins to sunshine ski resort 50mins to lake Louise resort. Price is cheap, has gas station nearby Cleanliness still needs improve
The room was good and spacious. Everything was good except the toilet. I would recommend them to clean it properly.
Great location. Garbage everywhere around the property...
Very noisy you can hear people talking next room
Good value for money. U get what u pay for.
Never ever I ll opt for this room again
I chose this hotel because we were only needing a room for one night to hike for a couple of days. On arrival, the aroma of curry and BO threw me off, wanting to get out as quick as possible. I did not want to listen to the instructions from the male receptionist. The single queen sized room is found to be dated. I like rustic wood furniture and furniture, but it could use some livening up and new bedding. The fridge installed under the countertop stove did not work. However, there was a bar sized fridge provided to replace the one that did not work. We didn’t bother trying to see if the stove worked. Both taps were worn out and could be turned on or off from either direction. The faucet provided very little water to wash dishes. You are charged an extra $10 if dishes are not cleaned and placed back, which is understandable but provide a sink and water flow to wash the dishes. We did find that the bedding and rooms were fairly cleaned but dated. The bed was hard and was a spring mattress on a captains bed, so there is no boxspring. There were children running up and down the stairs and slamming room doors. We were placed in room 106 and it was just beside the stairs and close enough to a side entrance/exit. We were close enough that I could smell cigarette smoke from someone coming from outside. One lady was on a phone call for an hour in the hallway with the call on speaker phone. We did experience some difficulty with the TV at first. We were able to troubleshoot.
Great value!!
Price and location are ok. Rooms require upgrade. TV selection is poor (5 channels only).
Was convenient and economical.
Cest tres bien pour le prix
polite staff
It was pretty clean
Sorta worn down, but very good for the price. The bed was on the stiffer side, lots of pillows. Love the charm of it on the outside, it’s like a Swiss Chalet with timber, stone and stucco. Lots of parking. I love the Deadman’s Flat area, it’s quiet and closer to Calgary. Would recommend.
It was dirty no security no heat brought up a space heater then the walls didn’t control the noise drugs being smoked just horrible
Affordable option close to Canmore and Kanaskis
strong odour in room. Seems dirty everywhere
Location
Obviously an older property. You get what you pay for. Has the basics
Dated. Requires complete renovation.
Great stay and nice staff
All good
An affordable option in a super pricey resort area.
Check-in was fast & friendly. The suite allowed my mother-in-law to have her own room. It was spacious and clean. The beds were semi-firm and comfortable. All of the items in the kitchen were clean and working. (The can opener was a LIFESAVER as we forgot ours.) The living room chairs were good except for the “hideaway bed” loveseat which needs new top cushions because it was uncomfortable to sit upon. It is an older building so no elevator (It is only 2 stories). Also, no air conditioning nor thermostat to control the heat (we slept with the window open). Needs some minor items: replace burned-out bulbs, On/Off on TV remote not working (button on TV), Fix bathroom hot water leak, bath mat (it was a bit slippery), washcloths, grab bars in the tub. It was also good to have the petrol convenience store next door for missing or snack items. Overall a good value for a good stay; we will be back.
Old,outdated, road noise. Not willing to help.
Excellent property. Easy on and off the interstate. A little outdated but does not hurt the clean rooms. Highly recommend.
There was only 2 working lights on the vanity, and only 1 was in, the other was flickering
This place is a ghost bungalow. All rooms stinks so bad with cigarettes smell. They have table fan. No water in washroom shower. They don't do any maintenance which means they don't change any bedding. They're not even worth $30/day and yet they charge more than $100/day which is total waste of money.
If was dirty, noisy, smelly and lots of bugs.
Place smells like curry. It is not worth what I paid.
Not as good
The place is okay but there are cockroaches in the room.
All good except of poor smell and loud neighbors.
Staff interaction was great. Property itself is dated and in need of repair and upgrade.
Clean room but had unfinished drywall work in the bathroom.
I booked a room. Within 20 minutes, the hotel called me stating that I will not make the check-in time so I am not able to stay with them. They told me to contact Expedia (who I booked it through) to work out canceling/refunding my payment. I contacted Expedia, who said there is nothing they can do. Expedia tried contacting the hotel but this was unsuccessful. Overall, I booked a room and was told I was unable to stay there (for a legitimate reason) but both the hotel and Expedia took no responsibility for canceling or refunding my payment. I paid for a service that was not provided to me.
The property is outdated. The room does NOT have air conditioning and the bedding looks dirty. The hair drier doesn't work and the night stand lights doesn't have an outlet to plug to by the night stand.
A zero-star motel in a lucky location. Old & dirty. Even the "office" was just one of the motel rooms with a desk. Not impressive in any way.
Sorry, this is an old rundown motel. Not clean, not safe. No fire alarms, and the tv did not work.
Room lighting was almost non-existent. One recesed light at room entry and one small table lamp at far wall. Light was inadequate to read maps, etc. No AC and no heat. Opened window for ventilation in daytime and closed at nigt to conserve heat. Promised to clean room but did not. Room so small hardly any room to walk around bed. Ice was a chore to get -- had to crush it myself. Everything seemed old. Shower was a slow dribble but we managed. Got new towels only after asking. Cups were not sanitized with plastic wrapping. Owner/managers seemed not to care.
The good, newly painted and clean! The bad, New shower, old taps. Couldn't control temperature. Get rid of the OLD drapes! Kleenex and washcloths would be nice!
Stayed here for nearly a week! Sure, the building is very old, the TV did not work, some of the towels were stained, the carpet was dirty, etc, but you get what you pay for. If all you want is a bed to sleep in and a shower, this is a good option. If you want a 5-star experience, look elsewhere.
the desk clerk calling me about when I'm checking in. when the sign on the office door says 4-11pm. The room was way too small for a king size bed. Hard to move around the room and barely any space to put my bags and I'm a single person with one piece of luggage.
the property is dated, there is not much of anything near by as far as restaurants or stuff to do, but it was inexpensive compared to other places in the area
The location is good. The staff was nice. The hotel is very close to freeway 1 so it's quite noisy. But considering the price it's OK.
A little older property, but still supplied all of our needs
Clean room
Dirtiness is unique for this property.
nice, convenient and easy on pocket
A lot of delayed maintance. Could not check in wgen we arrived at 2:00 because reception was closed.
Not clean
