River Island Hotel

The accommodation was very good value for money, and overall we had a very pleasant stay. While the rooms could benefit from some modernising, they were perfectly comfortable and suitable for the price. The restaurant food was lovely, and breakfast was hearty and filling. It was mainly a traditional fry, so I would have liked to see a little more choice when it came to continental breakfast options. The staff were very friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. I would be very happy to stay here again when travelling for work.

Wir hatten ein Zimmer von angemessener Größe, welches ordentlich sauber gemacht wurde. Das gesamte Personal war sehr freundlich. Ein echtes Highlight ist das hervorragende Restaurant, das keinen Vergleich scheuen muss, und auch die Bar ist absolut in Ordnung. Ein Pluspunkt ist der kostenlose Parkplatz in der Nähe. Preislich war die Übernachtung fair.

Das Inventar der Zimmer ist alt. Die Matratze war mies. Beim Frühstück wird oft nicht aufgefüllt oder erst mit Verspätung.

The River Island Hotel is really fab, very easy to get into. Parking is not provided, but there are plenty of parking spaces nearby, and a public parking lot is also very close, which I used. The hotel was nice, rooms reasonably spacious and beds comfortable. restaurant and bar provided all you needed if you did not want to go out. Staff were very friendly, smiling, and professional.

Only one thing I can say I did not like, and this is not the hotel's fault, but it did spoil my stay a bit. The room faced a side with pubs. It was Saturday night, there was a music session, and it was very loud. I am a light sleeper, and it kept me awake until early in the morning. I forgot to bring earplugs, which would have solved the problem.

Mir hat der alte, noble Charme des River Island Hotels ausgesprochen gut gefallen. Schon der Eingangsbereich ist beeindruckend – großzügig, elegant und beinahe ein wenig feudal. Man betritt das Hotel und spürt sofort, dass dieses Haus eine Geschichte hat. Natürlich sind auch die Zimmer sichtbar in die Jahre gekommen. Aber gerade das hatte für mich durchaus seinen Reiz – und sogar einen ganz praktischen Vorteil: Zu der Zeit, als diese Zimmer eingerichtet wurden, legte man offenbar noch großen Wert auf ausreichend Schränke, Ablagen und Stauraum. Gerade bei einem längeren Aufenthalt habe ich das sehr genossen. Die Betten waren ausgesprochen bequem, und auch die Badewanne im Zimmer war für mich ein Pluspunkt. Der Zimmerservice arbeitete sehr zuverlässig und sorgte dafür, dass wir uns während unseres Aufenthaltes rundum wohlfühlen konnten. Besonders hervorheben möchte ich jedoch das Personal. Alle Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter, denen wir begegnet sind, waren durchgehend freundlich, aufmerksam und hilfsbereit. Dabei wirkte die Freundlichkeit nie nur professionell oder einstudiert. Vielmehr hatte man das Gefühl, hier wirklich menschlich zugewandten und ausgesprochen zuvorkommenden Menschen zu begegnen. Wer ausschließlich moderne, durchgestylte Hotelzimmer sucht, wird vielleicht manches als etwas überholt empfinden. Wer dagegen Hotels mit Charakter, Geschichte und einem Hauch vergangener Eleganz mag, kann sich im River Island Hotel sehr wohlfühlen. Ein weiterer Pluspunkt ist, dass die Parkplatzsituation im Umfeld des Hotels sehr unkompliziert ist.

Das Frühstück war für meinen Geschmack etwas einfallslos und bot im Wesentlichen das typische irische Standardangebot. Hier hätte ich mir etwas mehr Abwechslung und vielleicht auch ein paar frischere, leichtere Alternativen gewünscht. Die Rühreier waren leider an manchen Tagen sehr weich und für meinen Geschmack etwas zu „wabbelig“. Insgesamt war das Frühstück in Ordnung, konnte aber mit dem ansonsten sehr positiven Eindruck des Hotels nicht ganz mithalten.

A notre arrivée l’hôtesse nous donne les cartes pour ouvrir la porte de chambre mais celle-ci ne fonctionnent pas ,elle fait le nécessaire immédiatement mais voila vers 23h30 on triture la serrure de notre chambre et deux personnes et le veilleur de nuit font intrusion dans notre chambre c’est irréel !!! N’importe qui rentre dans la chambre de cette hôtel ,le lendemain pas d’excuses et le personnel n’en parle même pas !à vous de juger de cet incident !

Auch kurzfristig ein bezahlbares, ordentliches Hotelzimmer in Kerry zu finden, war ein echter Glücksfall! Liegt etwas außerhalb der Haupt Touristenströme. Sehr freundliches Personal und gute Betten.

Das Frühstücksbuffet war etwas mager. Vielleicht, weil vor uns eine Busgruppe eingefallen war.

The bathtub was dirty and we didn’t use it. This was a problem. I didn’t realize until we went to take a shower before bed so couldn’t ask to switch. That was not good.

Posto molto carino con personale gentile. La colazione è abbondante e gustosa. Peccato per la cittadina in cui si trova che è fuori dagli itinerari turistici principali e non offre quindi grandi possibilità di svago.

Heel vriendelijk personeel die tips gaven voor mooie plekken waar het wat rustiger is ipv heel toeristisch. Hierdoor prachtige route gereden bij Dingel, de Slea Head drive ipv de veel drukkere Ring of Kerry.

Beetje harde kussens en de kamer was wat gedateerd maar wel erg schoon.

Le ménage laissait à désirer des poils dans la baignoire. Impossible de dormir chambre 126 toute la nuit un bruit de soufflerie très bruyant à l’extérieur, je me suis plaint et on m’a dit que cela allait s’arrêter, je suis retourné à l’accueil à 23h50 plus personne, je n’ai pratiquement pas dormi

Morgenmaden var helt under niveau for et hotel. Stedet trænger til renovering. Valgte at spise i byen i stedet for restauranten det tror vi var et godt valg.

Location was great. The staff were super accommodating. The food was excellent.

Unfortunately a main water main broke leaving the entire area without water. However, the staff were so apologetic about it and tried their best to keep jugs of water for the guests. The fact that the staff worked so hard to make everyone happy, made this inconvenience much more manageable.

Al estar situado en una calle en la que el tema del estacionamiento, no supone ningún problema, la ubicación está bien, los pocos pubs y restaurantes que ofrece el pueblo, están muy cercanos. el desayuno aceptable, la cama confortable y el trato agradable.

No hay nada que reprobar a este establecimiento, cumplió con nuestras expectativas y la relación calidad precio, es totalmente aceptable. Ninguna queja.

We had a wonderful stay the hotel is kept very clean, the food was delicious and the staff are very friendly. A special mention for Leanne in reception and Daniel and Maurice in the bar they made our stay most enjoyable

Great spot for dinner, the steak sandwich was absolutely delicious. Staff were fantastic, especially our waitress Aisling who made sure well taken care of. Will be returning shortly

The River Island Hotel was absolutely stunning! The service and food exceptional, excellent value and such a great location to explore County Kerry! You cannot go wrong with staying here, the locals are all lovely as well, be sure to pop into the pubs next door and the antique shop across the street!
