Just awful..... I'd stayed here many years ago and had found the hotel charming, if a bit funky. Suffice it to say, the charm is gone. And what was funky is now just run-down and awful. My carpet and wallpaper in my room were stained and torn. The shower flooded the entire bathroom every single time we turned it on. Breakfast was -- at best -- sub par. And the staff were largely indifferent. AVOID.
Pros: Location, quiet, affordability (not value) Cons: This is not a 4 star hotel or experience. It's clear that the owner chooses not to invest in upkeep. The bedroom & bath were really shabby: One nightstand with huge chips and missing handle, water stain on the wall behind the other Outlet falling out of the wall Plastic wall sconces Dirty trap door over the closet area Cheap pillows: Squares of fabric stuffed with cut up foam. One split open and we had to close it with a safety pin we happened to have Huge crack (not new) in the bathroom sink Bathtub had a 1/2 glass "shower" that leaked so much water the floor became soaked and the wood paneling on the side of the bathtub was rotting away Breakfast: Two women on different days managed the service. The blonde gal was sweet, helpful and gave great service. The woman who wore glasses provided only enough service to ensure the minimum of cleanup. At 9:30am (service is to 11) the orange juice carafe was empty and oh sorry, no more available. Same with the bacon on another day. Also, no water glasses available. She was rude, bussed the tables making so much noise it could only be intended to get people to leave. Checkout: Morning of checkout there was no hot water. So after cold showers we mentioned it to the man at the desk and he said they had "put something up". Right, so if you had already retired to your room for the night you wouldn't know. A "Four Star" hotel would have put a flier under each door. But with no apology for any inconvenience he was sure to mention that it was "Not Us" and the city was to blame. After a 9 night stay (with no complaints from us) we don't even get so much as a "hope you enjoyed your stay" or "thank you". We got a mumbled "au revoir" (I think) as we left the hotel. There are many many lovely 3 star hotels in the 6th. They may cost you 50 more euro a night, but it would be money well spent. Bottom line you are paying 3 star hotel prices for a 2 star experience. More than fancy amenities or toiletries, goodwill and attention to detail go a long way to creating a positive hotel stay. This hotel had minimal of the former and zero of the latter.
The hotel is very nice and location location location excelent. BUT it is a one man show bar tender receptionist etc. We were at the end of the corridor 1st floor. Wiffi very very POOR.
The staff was excellent. Helpful, friendly and greeted me warmly each time. The small room itself was very dark. Nice to have slippers and a towel warmer to dry one’s towels. The bathroom is tired and showed signs of mildew. I’d say this was a 3 star hotel at best, though the property itself was very quaint. Excellent location.
Close to attractions and restaurants. Friendly and helpful staff.
This was my fourth and, sadly, final stay. First, let me say that the staff were amiable, and the location is splendid. Sadly, the hotel itself is no longer up to par. My room (11) in particular was horrid. What used to pass for eclectic is now just tatty. Furniture was scuffed; carpets torn in multiple places; and the shower was a nightmare, flooding the cramped bathroom with each use. And breakfast was inedible — stale croissants and other pasteries and a sad fruit salad. I was so disappointed.
This is a great little hotel, very quiet and very convenient - less than 5 mins walk to several subway stops. Restaurants everywhere. Staff was very nice and helpful during our stay.
I really liked this quiet hotel, tucked behind Saint Sulpice church. The decor was vibrant and individual and good value for money. Our room did have a bit of mould but otherwise clean and comfortable. The buffet breakfast was good and hot food made to order (although that was limited). There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance.
Love the location, near to everything you want to see and do
The decor was charming, the hotel cool and quiet
Lovely hotel in a great location with accommodating staff. Classic Paris stay.
Heatwave in Paris, when we arrive we paid and then they mention oh by the way a/c is out. Provide fans that do nothing. Offer free breakfast for a day. Breakfast is $20 a person for very minimal choices. (Keep in mind the price was $500 per night!) Did get to change rooms next day. But This place is run down, and not well maintained at all. Mold, ripped carpets, ants, broken tv remote, slow WiFi. Staff is not overly friendly especially the manager who offered a bottle of wine but we have yet to see it. She never followed up with us. Acted like we were inconveniencing her. Did I mention $500 per night!
Sequesterd and extremely quiet in the midst of a whirlwind of activity. The location cannot be beaten. The staff is friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. I will be back soon.
Best location in Paris feels like Paris Wonderful staff
Very friendly and wonderfully located
The property was in a great location. Would stay again.
Great location! This boutique hotel is very quaint, comfortable and convenient to many of Paris’ city hot spots. Fabulous eclectic style and great vibe. Cozy, quiet and comfortable rooms with friendly customer service. Will definitely stay again! Thank you!
What a lovely gem of a property! Off a quiet street, a world outside of delicious restaurants, shops, and history. The staff was kind and helpful, the room comfortable and charming. From the antiques throughout the property, the self service bar, and stacks of books to browse, I cannot imagine a better place to have stayed during our time in Paris.
The location was superb, and the room was comfortable, clean, and charming.
Very attentive and welcoming front desk staff as well breakfast service in a bright well decorated space with a huge skylight glass.
Great stay at a convenient location. Really easy to get around to touristy spots. Amount of space was good for what you get in the area!
it is a very nice hotel, well priced in a great neighborhood.
Excellent location next to St Sulpice church. Two main issues. The heating in the room was poor and the bathroom facilities were not modern.
Absolutely loved Hotel St. Sulpice - lovely boutique hotel and will book next trip to Paris. Highly recommend if you like quiet, smaller scale and friendly staff. Merci!
Charming small hotel with Parisian flair. Excellent location.
Excellent value; very friendly staff. Would stay again.
Excellent staff, clean rooms, convenient, lots of charm. Some signs of wear, and a repurposed building results in an odd bathroom configuration. Overall excellent, however.
Its a very nice boutique hotel, but the room itself was small and the bed/mattress and pillow was not what I would expect from a four star hotel.
Great location. Very easy to walk to the Louvre and other sites. Our room was on the second floor and had very convenient stairs. We overlooked the courtyard. It was very comfortable and quiet. Friendly staff. We would stay here again. Elevator for heavy bags.
As expected, small rooms and nice amenities for St. Germaine area. Their website dramatized the courtyard and please see my photos Housekeeping is on french time, polite but just okay. Purchase your own water, not provided after first night. Concierge is helpful but as a female, I was speaking with him and he interrupted our conversation for a businessman.
Nice location! Let’s start there. Our room had mold in the tub. Dirty curtains. The hallway smelled of mold and the wallpaper was filthy at the bottom in the hallway. Pillows were lumpy. Desk personnel questioned the need for two keys! Asked for toilet paper and was questioned then when we returned from dinner it was still not placed in the room. If you want to be a 4 star then act like a 4 star. Make some simple upgrades. Even the bathroom table was almost useless as there was no glass in the middle of the top of the table. Freshen the hallways with nice scents to try to mask the mold smell! Do something! I have been to Paris 8 times going back to 1985. I have stayed in bare bones hotels to air bnb to luxury hotels and this 4 star was so very disappointing as it was not even close.
Hotel Relais Saint Sulpice was recommended to me by friends who frequently travel to Paris. I have stayed in a few places in the St. Germain area but this was by far the best location and so very quiet! I had a courtyard facing room (#5). It was a bit small and the bathroom was dated but everything was very clean. There is breakfast offered for a fee that was fine if you don't feel like going out to one of the many cafes that are close by. I will stay here again!
nice hotel, decent area
The room is small but it was expected, it was clean and there was space to put the clothes. The bathroom was comfortable. There’s air conditioner and there’s an elevator. The street where the hotel is located is very quiet, perfect for sleeping, but it is close enough to bars and restaurants. Three metro stations around and bus stop at the corner. Would stay there again
Wonderful small Parisian hotel beautiful decorated in a traditional Parisian style. Staff very friendly and helpful
Beautiful location convenient to everything. Charming hotel, comfortable bed, nice shower. Staff amazingly kind and hospitable helping us to rent a motorbike and allowing for late check out. Truly a lovely hotel and experience.
Have been staying here the last few trips to Paris and love it. The location is fantastic - close to shops and walking distance to metros. The rooms itself are a bit dated and small with barely any air conditioning but it’s charming and staff are friendly.
This hotel is certainly not a four star hotel as is claimed. My room had peeling paint, broken AC, and a broken bathtub plug. When asked to have the AC and rub fixed, we were given a snarky answer and no promises; when we checked out five days later, both were still broken. Yes, we just opened our windows to cool off the room but, as the hotel backs up on to the back of St Sulpice, there was lots of noise late into the night from various groups drinking behind the church. Additionally, the breakfast is not worth 19 Euros each, very standard hotel breakfast fare and, again, unfriendly staff.
loved it. a beautiful hotel on a beautiful quiet street
It was a small, lovely hotel with wonderful staff.
I very much liked:-- 1. the hotel's location. 2. The comfort of my room. 3. the helpfulness of the staff.. and 4. the quality of the breakfasts
Nice quiet hotel in very good location with helpful front desk staff and comfy bed
A delightful little hotel in a great section of Paris. An easy walk to some great sights, but not in an overly touristy neighborhood. Touches like fabric wall"paper" make it very unusual. It did need decent lighting in the closet area, where we could barely see a thing. And I would go out for breakfast; the one here isn't up to French standards, But there are plenty of excellent cafes just around the corner. We certainly plan to stay here the next time we're in Paris.
I really enjoyed my stay at this beautiful property. Its courtyard is green and fragrant with jasmine and Ivy and so peaceful and serene. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and well appointed. The front desk staff are friendly and so helpful. I wanted to give a shout out to Jinane on the front desk. She was always kind, respectful and attentive with a beautiful smile and a can- do attitude. And finally, it’s a great location, next to wonderful food, shopping and of course the beautiful Siene! I will go back to this hotel in a heartbeat!
The staff were wonderful and we had everything we needed. The rooms are a bit dated. We couldn’t easily get the AC working but it was cool enough that we could just open the windows for a few minutes if needed. Thank you!
Charming hotel in unbearable location. Helpful and friendly staff. Large room and bathroom. The stay could not have been better, we will come back 😊
We stayed for 3 nights and were really pleased with all the facilities... the room (4) was really clean, comfortable, warm and quiet ... albeit a little small but we were out for most of the days anyway. The complimentary bottle of wine and chocolates were very well received and the ticket for the boat trip included was great. We really enjoyed the breakfast with fresh bread etc. They even accommodated my vegan partner with Soya milk which is not always available at other places. The staff were absolutely lovely and a credit to the hotel. One very small negative was that the bathroom could do with a little updating but was clean. Would definately recommend and wouldn't hesitate to book again when we hopefully return to Paris 😀
Such a lovely little boutique hotel in the heart of the Saint-Germain neighborhood - literally right behind the famous St. Sulpice church! Front desk staff was amazing with offering us recommendations, helping us make dinner reservations, and just overall great in general (I had to print something last minute and they were very helpful). Can't beat the location - hotel is very centrally located with lots of dining options right around the corner and big Paris tourist sites were just walking distances away. As two young women - we felt very safe in the area and walking around at night which was very important to us. Rooms are small (if you have big suitcases there's not much room) but this might be typical of Paris. Also, room temperature leans on the hot side during the night. Would definitely come back here again and would recommend!
Friendly and efficient staff. Nice room. Can't beat the location. A cozy and quiet spot, nice decor, too. The bed was quite comfy. Historic character is also a plus. Bathroom was fine, nice shower. A fair amount of storage space also available.
I am a frequent traveler to Paris for mosly fun and a break from London. I discovered Relais St Sulpice several years ago as I am a big left bank fan. If you are looking for a home away from home at an affordable price I highly recommend Relais St Sulpice. Great location behind the church St Sulpice, made famous by the Da VInci Code, comfortable rooms and a fantastic team. A nice breakfast room, drawing room and garden as well as great views of the church. WIfi works well, quiet, and comfortable rooms. I will be back!
Quiet and cosy hotel, good location to explore Paris.
L'hotel Relais St Sulpice is in good neighborhood , the room is clean ,the bed comfortable. However, there are two concerns. The first, the safe in room is in a small box on the floor, I had to lay down to operate safe , there was no light in his small compartment , I had to borrow a flash light to operate said safe.I am not a teenager being senior this was very difficult. The shower in bathroom had no way to be turned on , the dial is missing. The front desk was polite and friendly. This was room number 1. Maybe another room would be different. I voiced this concerned to the gentlemen in front desk. This should not happen in 4 star property.
Nice hotel; good location. We were given a room with no working air conditioning- the plug-in fan in the room should have been a clue. After calling the front desk we were told it could take "a few minutes" for the air to turn on. After 30 minutes, we asked the front desk to move us. She took us to another room with a fan, where the air conditioning was also broken. We had to firmly request to be taken to a room with working air conditioning and were finally given such a room. I believe the hotel knows that not all rooms have working air conditioning and intentionally give them to you if you use a 3rd party to book, such as hotels . com. If air conditioning is an important consideration when booking, be sure you are given a room that has it when the weather is very hot. Other than that the hotel is nice, toiletries are limited to shampoo and body wash- no hair conditioner or body lotion. Coffee in the room is not good tasting. We noticed on the maid's cart that some rooms have Nespresso pods so it seems we were given a room with lower quality amenities. he hair dryer is also very bad- it only blows hot and warm air-no cool button that would be expected in a 4 star hotel and you have to squeeze the handle to make the air flow. There is only one mirror in the whole room, in the bathroom- which makes it hard for 2 people to get ready at the same time.No fan in the bathroom. Street noise is loud if you have a street side room. Didn't bother us but might if you are noise-sensitive
Absolutely positively charming hotel in the center of all the action of a great neighborhood, restaurants and shops and across from Saint Sulpice (the amazing church) (but off on a quiet side street). The breakfast, the staff, and the decor all take you back to classic Paris. Will be our new favorite place to stay.
A very lovely boutique hotel, nestled behind the church of St. Sulpice, in the Latin quarter. The staff was very welcoming and helpful and the location hard to beat! Enjoyed VERY much.
Charming hotel in a very quiet area. The staff was friendly and helpful and the rooms were sweet and clean albeit small. I recommend for a cozy stay as a couple or single!
Very friendly staff and a comfortable stay in a wonderful downtown neighborhood
The hotel is small with a small and welcoming staff that make you feel at home and are anxious to be helpful. It feels more like a small inn. Service was excellent. Location is excellent. This is an excellent value.
Excellent location in the 6th arrondissement—tourist-friendly but not touristy. Close to bus and metro. Compare but clean and homey rooms (US/UK bring your own power adaptors, tough). Nice breakfast and super friendly and helpful staff.
We loved this property. It is charming, with beautifully appointed guest sitting and reading areas; and a very comfortable bedroom, lovely outlook over the leafy courtyard; spacious, well appointed bathroom. It is in easy walking distance of our favourite restaurants, museums & galleries. And close to the iconic Parisian sites. Staff are wonderful, very helpful. Highly recommended.
Great location, convenient and close to everything The hotel is quite nice but rather old, could do with some upgrades
Everyone was very helpful and friendly
The hotel is in a great location with lots of neighborhood restaurants nearby and close to the Odeon Metro. My mom had stayed here 20 years ago and wanted to go back with her daughters. While it was clear that it had some charming elements, the place is tired and in need of updating. My sister's room had a hairdryer that looked like it was from the 1970s at the latest with the old tubing. The tub was deep and there was nothing to grab onto when getting in which should definitely be upgraded for safety. The rooms are very dark because there is no overhead lighting. We paid extra for the breakfast. The eggs were never warm, some days they were undercooked and the last day we asked for more and they scrapped out the serving dish. While they credited us for the last day's breakfast, I would recommend if you stay here, you do not pay for the breakfast and instead go elsewhere because it is not worth it. Also on the last day, the elevator would not open with us in it several times, so I had to carry all of our bags from 10 days travel down from the second floor. We did not look for other places because my mom had fond memories from a former trip, but if you like the area, I would definitely look around for other places. I think some people pick this hotel confusing it for Hotel Relais St. Germain around the corner which is a 4 star hotel.
We loved the area the hotel was located. We were able to walk the whole city from here. The room had a unique boutique feel.
A lovely, character filled boutique hotel. Our room was beautiful, very clean and comfortable. The staff were very kind and helpful. The position was excellent. 10 minutes walk from the river and to the Luxembourg gardens and the RER for the airport. St Sulpice church is a good landmark as the hotel is next to it. We had a wonderful time.
Stayed for three nights while in Paris briefly for a friend's wedding. Check-in was very easy and it was great that they were able to give me a room earlier than normal check-in since I had travelled overnight and needed to clean up. The room was very comfortable and the location was super convenient both for the weekend's festivities and for accessing le Metro. My only two issues were: 1. You couldn't have the windows open without the blackout curtains in front of them because there was no other option for covering the windows, which looked out onto a small courtyard...and all the other rooms' windows. 2. My check-out was much longer than necessary. Person checking me out was nice enough but first seemed fixated on booking a taxi for me, even though he couldn't do it quickly and i was able to get an uber in about 5 minutes. Then he kept having trouble keeping straight what papers he gave me and didn't give me. Then he asked if I could pay the taxes in cash, which I couldn't because I was about to get on a plane back to the US. Mind you, all of this happened at about 3:30am.
As described
I loved staying in the neighborhood where I used to live. The staff was friendly. The rooms were clean. I love the French windows that opened to a charming court.
The staff was nice and accommodating. Room was a little small but it’s to be expected in Paris. Beds were very comfortable.
Our family of 5 stayed here for 4 days We loved our rooms facing the courtyard. It is located on a quiet side street but close to many restaurants and shops The staff was very friendly and helpful We would definitely recommend this hotel and will return
This was a wonderful hotel to stay at. The staff were so kind and helpful. The room was comfortable and immaculate and the location was beautiful. We will definitely stay here again.
We had a lovely two night stay. Enjoyed the friendly, helpful staff, especially at the front desk. Location is excellent for exploring many of the Paris attractions.
This is 2 star property and not more than that. The room was tiny with no ventilation, no exhaust and no Air Conditioning. How can one live in this tiny room without exhaust and A/C in full summer.
Great location desk help
A/C in room still doesnt work after 3 years
Charming hotel. We loved our room with its picturesque view looking down into the courtyard. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was bright and modern. I was grateful for the safe in the room. The hotel staff were very friendly… would absolutely come back here. Location was perfect for all the main sites and nightlife. They also allowed us an early check-in and stored our luggage on our first and last day.
Very nice one night stay. Loved proximity to Luxembourg Garden and St Germaine du Pres neighborhood. Staff extremely friendly, efficient and helpful.
The friendliness of the staffs, very accommodating and kind.
The reception couldn’t do enough for us. The gentleman even fixed my broken glasses for me. Very pleasant experience all round. Room lovely. Great location right next to Luxembourg gardens and many eateries. I would definitely recommend it.
Front desk staff very inviting and welcoming. Fabulous location in the 6th. A cozy environment. Rooms a little old and tired....quirky wallpaper, but wallpaper at times pulling loose from the walls. A little mold in shower. Very comfortable beds.
Wonderful location in the heart of the 6th ARR. but this is not a 4 star hotel, 3 at best. Our room was small and there were two chairs provided, one had a broken arm and the other was so flimsy we only put our daily backpacks on them for fear of them collapsing under our weight! The bathroom was huge and no complaints here other than the strange table like contraption in the centre which is suspect is to be used to hold your toiletries but never had any glass shelf in the centre so you couldn't actually store anything, weird. The room would have a stale smell upon returning late in the afternoon from our sightseeing and the aircon was non-existent, so much so that took a photo of the aircon control panel which was hanging off the wall exposing wires etc, clearly a safety issue which needs addressed. Overall, great location which would be ok for max 3 nights, we're coming back to Paris in November as loved it but will be staying in Montmartre next time!
I enjoyed looking into the central garden area and especially appreciated the comfortable beds, daily clean sheets, and quiet in the evening so sleeping was as comfortable as at home. The three doors for the bathroom and shower areas were a charming novelty, except in the middle of the night when I was trying to find my way to the bathroom without turning on the light! (This was something for us to laugh about the next morning--not a problem!) I highly recommend your hotel.
We enjoyed our time in Paris tremendously! The staff at the hotel was fantastic, offering to help us set-up transportation and getting us dinner reservations as well. Everyone at the hotel was friendly and courteous. We would stay there again on our next trip to Paris for sure!
The delightful staff did an amazing job!
Very quiet and the courtyard was very green and lovely.
It has been and remains where we stay when we travel to Paris. Perfect location!
Lovely accommodations. Great beds. Our room faced the courtyard, which we understand was a quiet location. The area surrounding the hotel can get noisy at night and during weekends. Easy access to public transport. The front desk staff incredibly helpful and fluent in several languages. An elevator helps you move your luggage easily.
Everyone there was extremely helpful and professional. We had a great time it’s close to everything .Great experience we will be back .
The building was old and charming but the rooms need updating. It is well located. While some staff was friendly, compared to other hotels it is missing the hospitality factor.
Tucked in a quiet street behind the beautiful Saint Sulpice church. A block from Luxembourg Gardens. Very close to a lot of restaurants, shops and metro stops. You cannot beat the location. The staff are very friendly. The room is small but typical of European hotels, and has a very Parisian feel. May not be for everyone, but we really like the ambiance. You feel like you’re a guest in somebody’s big house. The center courtyard is a charming feature!
We really enjoyed this location, and slept very well in comfy beds and excellent blackout curtains. Very cute room with a window overlooking the courtyard. Generous breakfast (baguette, croissants, jams, honey, nutella, veggies, meats, eggs, sausage, coffees and fruit juices) and room cleaning daily, plus we got one free water bottle in our room every day which was nice to know was there after a long day. There was a little mold in the shower and the shower head could have used a cleaning, but overall the room was great and we would absolutely stay again.
The property is very quaint. In a great neighborhood with metro, stores, good restaurants and access to the Luxembourg Gardens within a couple mins walk. The rooms were bigger than what seems the average room in Paris is. Very helpful staff. Very clean.
Very attractive hotel with textiles on all the walls. Room had a large bathroom and lovely view. Very near to Metro and bus routes. Near park and lots of bars and interesting restaurants.
If you’re looking for a perfect, polished hotel experience then you might want to go look for the nearest Hilton. But if you want the perfect Parisian experience filled with character and charm, I would highly recommend this hotel. The staff were wonderfully charming, the breakfast was plentiful (highly recommend the fruit and yogurt) and the location couldn’t have been better. OK, so the bath plug leaked a little, and the room was small, the tea was weak - but nothing that took away from our lovely Parisian bolt-hole. Situated wonderfully quiet side street within 2 minutes of everything you need. We will return.
perfect for a weekend break
The service provided by the hotel team was absolutely outstanding - best we have ever had. Warm and friendly, professional in every way. We have stayed at Relais St Sulpice many times and always go back. Great hotel located in the heart of Paris. 10 Stars !!!
Adorable boutique hotel in a prime location! This is a classic Paris hotel offering old world charm and exceptional service. We stayed on the first floor in room #6-it was a “double” room which was small, but with the addition of a hallway and separate toilet room and bathroom, offered enough space for the two of us. One thing to note is that the double room is really just two twin beds pushed together, so not ideal if you like to sleep close to your partner. If you are looking for something that feels less like a corporate chain hotel and more like a bed-and-breakfast, this is the place for you!
The staff is awesome is the best from the hotel . The hotel is standard need to be updated ,The beds are not the best ones but location is amazing. To stay one or two days is ok but more days I will reconsider it .
Small and well located for Saint Germaine. Very quiet and easy for sleep. The staff was very helpful. It's a lovely old Parisian Hotel.
