Heritage style
Not all rooms had showers . Old dated. Need more staff who can understand English need to be able to supply city map and to accept cash
Close walking distance to many tourists attractions. The building is quite old but clean and well maintained. Breakfast was good and overall a good deal at the price.
Great Hotel with ancient architecture style.
Not good
The hotel looks old colonial style with many antique artifacts. Most of the area were dirty nobody is taking care. The owner should hire a person to take care the beautiful artifacts, cars etc. it’s very rare pieces. We stayed for 2 nights but our room nobody clean it even we hang the signage outside our room while we go out almost half day from 13.00pm and came back to our room at 21.00pm. And when we mentioned then staff did apologize. Have many staff I saw but no one maybe do patrol the room, mostly I saw relaxing. Breakfast for two days only noodle soup and the same fruit. I believe that Dalat supplies fruit to most of the region in vietnam but here only served rotten banana and vietnam apple. Seem like nobody supervised staffs when working. I when out to buy fruit very cheap. Your hotel is so good but no quality in food and beverage as well as the service PS: I like your antique collection
Quirky hotel very pleasant stay staff were helpful and able to speak english.
Likes: Ambience and deco were brilliant. Rooms very well maintained. Quaint and cosy. Front desk staff friendly and accommodating & helpful. Dislikes: Breakfast should contain more variety. Staff during breakfast could have been friendlier. There wasn't room service facilities.
The initial room I was put in had not been cleaned properly so I was promptly moved/upgraded. The next room I was in was slightly (maybe 20%) better than the previous one, but still not great. The quality of the bed in the initial room was EXTREMELY poor. The upgraded room was better, but still not great. Interior design was charming, location was fine, staff was friendly, breakfast was subpar, no AC/heater in the rooms. I'm conflicted about this hotel because I believe it was made with a lot of care and attention to detail, but obviously the way it is being managed does not follow. I think a new hotel manager might be in order to return this hotel to its original glory. Charming, but I would not stay here again in the future.
This is a nice hotel that had many special things. Staff are excellent, bed is very comfortable, nice service, cleaned and quite space. Good place for relaxing and reading. I and my friends will come back again.
This hotel is beautiful, staff is friendly and breakfast is delicious. Thank you.
Room was clean but very dated ie. rotary phone tv tube style television etc.
Not what I expected. Bugs on the floor roaming around. Wooden floor that has spacing. By the way that’s where bugs would come out. Very loud outside. Early morning and late night. Constant noises. I made a bad choice selecting.
Fantastic looking building from an architectural point of view. Old electrical wiring, stone and wood. Brass fittings in the bathroom. Like old times. Old vehicles etc to look at. We stayed for 4 nights but by then the wife wanted to move. Bathroom was functional, plenty of hot water etc but housekeeping was average. Sheets not changed the whole stay? Breakfast was rather average and they always ran out of plates and cups. Needs some new management to get the place spic and span. Bar is quite hopeless. OK for a night, that's about it. Average view. It was also quite warm at night and room didn't really get cool even with windows open. No aircons but that is normal for Dalat.
Look great but really uncomfortable no light at bedside no entertainment toilets feel dirty noises
The description Trip Advisor has is so wrong. This hotel is old, dingy and very musty throughout. I can’t recommend it to anyone. Some reviews were positive so we booked for 3 nights. What a mistake! Sure it looks very interesting in its design but it is old and in poor shape. Decrepit windows that won’t close or lock, no shower, cleanliness was debatable. We went to bed feeling grubby. Breakfast was extremely limited for anything other than Asian tastes. We stayed 2 nights (prepaid for 3) and left. Would have left earlier but no other rooms available in town that weekend. Finally moved to a nice modern hotel for less cost! Don’t stay here. I now am concerned with Trip Advisor descriptions.
What this hotel lacks in modcons it makes up in charm and authenticity. The original building and paraphernalia inside it are charming and unique. Rooms are dated, but large and comfortable. It’s in a fantastic location, just a few hundred meters from the market, city center and restaurants.
While the outside of the building is charming, the room left Much to be desired. Stained sheets and someone else's hair on the sheets. The desk manager smiled when this was reported and would not do anything to rectify the situation. I would highly recommend that you stay at the IRIS hotel just down the street before staying at this hotel. The IRIS is cheaper, cleaner, has a great breakfast and very helpful staff.
Ground floor room window can’t lock !!!!!!room #002
We splurged a bit on this quaint place and were not disappointed in any respect, well except for the bath tub and the smokers. The room was spacious enough to be comfortable, not air-conditioned but this wasn't needed being nicely cool inside and out. French shutters opened to view the nearby hills and frequent rain was a daily delight, until another smoker came along! Breakfast was uniformly excellent each day and always topped up the big variety of dishes with new ones before a famine broke out. An additional bonus was the display of really old French and German vehicles from WW11 and the French occupation in the 1940's. There was also a modern BMW super bike on display that had my wife salivating at the thought of riding it. Yeah right! The staff were well trained and apart from ignorant tourists who walked about the place smoking indiscriminately making it most unpleasant to be nearby. If you fancy a trip down memory lane, French style, The Saphir is for you. Strongly recommended
Beautiful place, good location, nice staff, good breakfast, but have a bit issue with cleanliness
We stayed for about 4 nights and had a very pleasant time. The staff were all wonderful especially Truong who works on reception. The hotel has a lot of character in the architecture and there are lots of beautiful outlooks. Our room was comfortable and spacious. The bed was not the most comfortable but was not bad. It’s in a good location with plenty of restaurants, street food around and an easy walk in to town. Overall we had a great stay.
Staff are very nice and friendly. Delicious breakfast The decoration is unique and beautiful. The room is clean, full of facillities.
The view from my room is awful when there is a big wall outside the window. No air conditioner in the room because it is always cool/cold enough in Da Lat. Hot water is always avalaible to make you warm. I love the toilet as everything has big impact from vintage French amenities and facilities. One bad thing is the way to my room is too dark. I even have to turn on my phone light when I get back to the hotel at night. The location is not easy to find. It is quite a challenge for you all when you first come here.
My friend and i stayed here for 2 nites. This is such a huge hotel (approx. over 80 rooms) Most facilities : room, rest, entrance to the rooms ..are tidy and spacious, the staffs are very nice and vey helpful special is a small guy from receptionist. Although i didn't know what his name but anyway thank you so much. The FOOD in the morning from Buffet service was excellent but the fruits was not FRESH (water melon). Shower in the bathroom was hard to control cold-hot water and the water come out was very noisy. Thanks to all staff for a nice relaxing stay.
Upon first glance this room was just OK, which was surprising for the cost. However, we went along with it and attempted to make the best. There was a huge coffee spill leftover in the minifridge not cleaned. Whatever, we could brush that off. The bath tub drained onto the floor- another thing we could brush off. The TV made a very very loud static like noise, brushed that off too. What really put me off from this place was how freezing the room was. There's no actual windows, just screens blocking the noise and cold from the outside, and there was noise all night. At around 2am having still not slept, I attempted to contact the front desk about the noise to ask for earplugs or a different room. They were friendly but unable to help. Finally shoved cotton balls in my ears and slept terribly for a few hours. Maybe the other rooms were a bit more quiet? Our room was right next to the road so we dealt with the noise all night. Would not recommend.
We arrived there before the check in time and walking around the hotel till a reception man asked if we stay here and waiting for checking in. Then he suggested us to leave our luggage and stuff here so that we can go travel around easily. As so everyone knows that we can leave our stuff in every hotels and go around, but this shows how well the staff take care of their customers. The hotel architecture is European style which is different from the others hotel at Dalat. It's not far from the night market just like 10 mins walk. in the evening, there is hot soya milk available at the breakfast room which has a big fireplace and that made us feel warm from the cold weather outside. About the room, its cozy. I like the four-poster bed decorated with a curtain. I also like the baht room. The bathtub is also unique. When i was there, I felt like I was in a wine cellar. There is a big window in the baht room and when you sit in the bathtub in the warm water and look outside, you can see the city view. It is a perfect and romantic time for me. So chiili. We didn't try their breakfast as we were in hurry leave this town to another town. But overall, this hotel is recommended! I love this place.
So cute! I read the bad reviews and I really think some people are just too picky. We have traveled enough in Asia to know that sometimes things malfunction and not every place is perfect. We really had no problems with this hotel. It was quaint, located on the top of the hill, which was nice, good exercise. The breakfast buffet was unique and delicious. The whole set up of the hotel is really cool. The room was cosy and fun. I suppose everyone had different standards, so some people may be more picky than there. Our stay was great overall and we highly recommend this hotel.
This is a quaint looking hotel but beware as mentioned in other posts that it is very dirty. We arrived at 8 pm and checked out at 10 pm . Beds had broken springs , dirty stained pillows and long black hairs in the sheets. Owners obvoiusly not spending money keeping up these major things. Very thin walls and can hear everything in neighboring rooms. We probably wont get refund as well
I'll stay at the Saphir Hotel in Da Lat for 3 nights in June 2017. As a first impression the hotel looks really appealing with an old European style charm, unfortunately do not let that impression fool you. More, a little bit later. The check in was fast and easy as I booked through Agoda, they had all my details already into the system and I only had to lève my passport with them. My room was a superior double bed located on the 2nd floor, the old fashioned lift takes you up there and you got this massive key ring to take with you. This key needs to be plugged into the box but mine didn't work. I had to call for a technician to come by and his "solution" was to put tooth brushes inside it. The room has no AC but it doesn't need as Da Lat is quite cool year around and the double bed is protected by a mosquito nest. The bed was quite comfortable, the size of the room acceptable, the bathroom had a 19th century style free standing tub and all the sockets from the 1950's era. The breakfast is served from 7 am to 9 am who seems to be way too short, maybe considering a 6:30 to 9:30 service. The food there was okay, nothing out of the ordinary, the pho was blend, the juices were ways almost empty no matter what time I had my breakfast as well as the báhn beo. There was fruit, cakes, tea, coffee, water, eggs on demand as well. There wasn't anything really wrong with the hotel if you want something a bit different then the usual accomodation EXCEPT the noise !!! This is the reason why I would strong suggest for anyone who's considering staying at the Saphir hotel to reconsider. First I the noise inside the hotel, you can her your neighbours TV, even they're discussion, you can hear each footsteps when people walk because of the floor board over your room and worse when they're little children running amok until late t night. Secondly they're construction right opposite my room starting from around 7h and even after they finished working, you can hear all the traffic noise until really late at night. The reason being, the windows re not isolated or soundproof who makes it impossible to rest in the afternoon and hard to fall asleep in the night. The windows don't have any isolation and will let wind and noise get through your room. I do understand that some people who will read my review may find it me being picky, but I rather give an honest opinion about the place so that they won't be disappointed or frustrated due to the lack of peace and quiet that the hotel seem to have at first sight. The construction of the nearby hotel(s) and house(s) will be finished in a couple of months but the overall noise will still remain until they can make better soundproofed rooms. In conclusion, I would not recommend this hotel as the negative points (noise) outweighs the positive and you will not enjoy your stay in Da Lat.
Most amazing quaint hotel with wonderful staff. Great area to walk everywhere.
The staff is very nice and helpful. Especially the friendly receptionist hotel holds a lot of interesting items like historic cars or old phones. Also the interior of the rooms make you feel you are in a different time. Everything very clean. Just the place is not vety well sound proofed. The breakfast has a vast variety of food mainly Asian/Chinese though.
The staffs is friendly. This hotel is close to Dalat Market. The breakfast is so delicious, especially you can find Banh hoi, banh beo... dishes from middle of Vietnam
There is good services and location. But. I felt cold in our room night time. Hot shower need taking time. It takes 10 to 20 min became hot water. But. I think there is good services and good location.
This hotel oozes charm from the exterior design, the bambo wood bath tub, four poster bed and bar with fire place. The rooms do not need air conditioning as they are pleasantly cool. Close to great restaurants and the market area - around 400 metres only.
The worst part about saying here was the mold! It was really bad, and I was afraid that it could be harmful. I do believe it is an old building that was renovated to a point. Although we received clean towels, the beds were untouched. No kettle to boil water. If you ask, someone will bring you a flask with hot water. Bar fridge was off - supposedly not working. Breakfast is quite limited - not much of a variety.
What drew us to this Hotel is the Unique Style of being old French Colonial, after the first night if it hadn't been for the fact our Hotel had been booked and paid for 1week through an agent we would have walked! We get the fact it's quirky, old, but come on we are living in the 21st century!!! What, in particular Asian Countries don't put sealed bottled water in the rooms, instead we get a bottle with stopper (who knows what water it contained or how long it sat there) no kettle, just a plastic flask filled with hot water each day! Mini Bar fridge wasn't working but was empty, this was mentioned first day then 3rd day, but still not fixed....as for Housekeeping!! Well..... No guest relations service whatsoever through out the whole Hotel! Then to top it all on check out we were asked if we had used anything from the mini bar..... Having travelled the world extensively we would have been hard pressed to rate this at 1 🌟
I love this hotel. Ancient style with may ancient cars, rooms and even the elevator. This hotel in the central of city, around 400-500 meters, free walkin distance to Dalat market and night market. From there you can walk to Xuan Huong Lake. Taxi fare is cheep. Highly recommend Dalat Taxi. This is lovely city and people. We will come back and will recommend to our friends. Thanks all!
Nice looking Hotel, but my # 420 was not comfortable and clean, especially the bathroom, it had mole on the door and the floor need to be a lot cleaner
Bathroom fall apart smelly room cleaner lazy Service excellence not worth for that star need up date bathroom
Nice and beautifull hotel withvold french style. Good location close to market
At first we thought the hotel was really kind of creepy/cool. The architecture and design give it an awesome vintage feel and the location is decent - an easy walk to anything you want. Unfortunately, the room was so damp and dusty that it made us sick. There is no temperature control in the room - ok for us September, we just asked for an extra blanket and slept warmly dressed but I can't imagine trying to stay in winter proper. When I say that the hotel is loud, I mean that we could hear the tv sets of people living nearby and the music from the main area as well as every single conversation in the room next to us - which involved a toddler and started at 5am most days. We also had a drunk man accidentally walk into our room despite a locked door (he broke the lock the first time he tried to walk in, without much force). Breakfast is %100 Asian food. No eggs, nada. Fine with me, but some may want to be aware of this before booking. At the end of our 4 days we were very happy to leave.
Had walk 1 stair for top floor , same food everyday for breakfast
Hotel is dirty, lot of pubic hair on blanket when we moved in. There is no heat or AC in the room. Room depends on outside temperature. It was quite cold inside when temperature dropped down to ten-ish in winter. For westerner guest, that temp may be ok, not for local people. Hotel builder tried to be cool when they built it. Unfortunately, it is not convenient to use. For example in the bathroom, when you are the tub/shower, there is no way you can get shampoo or bath gel from shelves design for them. Faucet and shower head made of copper which conducts heat very quickly, we got burn many times taking shower or wash our face in a sink. This is a no no if you have children hotel. Guarantee they will get burn. In the morning when we went to basement for breakfast, in the 7th lower floor basement. Imagine, no heat, very chilly. I spot a long hair strain in coin dish and told the waitress. She used chopsticks and took the hair out. That's it. We did not want to touch that dish. Later on I notice waitress went behind a glass door and picked her nose. I wanted to throw up.
very nice, old fashioned hotel, with some lovely features.
Satisfy.
Hall way and Matt carpet very dark , dirt should be replace
The city itself is pretty small, so the hotel is pretty close to anything. It has a great feel to it, and has lots of antiques throughout the hotel. The breakfast was pretty decent, and the morning noodle soup was quite tasty.
Great location at the quiet area of dalat, and only takes about less than 5 mins walk to the night market. The hotel has its charm of having an old castle feeling on the hilltop, but the rooms are quite dark and cold. We stayed there for 3 nights, and I don't know if it was just us or the fabrics of the bed sheet and blanket, we had a static electricity problem. We can see MANY big sparks, even with a small movement like turning around or flipping the blanket, which really bothers us! Perhaps it would be better if they would change it.
Location was really handy to the center of Dalat and in a quiet area. The hotel itself was charming with it s old castle feel up on the hill.I'm unsure how the vintage cars fit in, but if your into that type of thing, it would be great. The staff let the place down, particularly the reception area as they spoke little to no English and were not very helpful.
Location was good, but the rooms were very cold.
Charming hotel, time seemed to stop there, everything looked like during colonial times. Good condition though. We didn't like bedshits, they were of some artificial fiber, so not very nice. Housekeeping a bit lame, we had to ask for having our room done. You also need to be super carefull not to break anything that is in the room, they will charge you for everything ! Otherwise it was fine, very charming place.
The receptionist didn't want to know us. We arrived in the storm and the hotel dod not have a light on. One man was lying asleep on the couch another at the computer Smokering. There were leaks and the ceiling. We asked to see our room and we travelled up in an old lift then outside into the rain again and then up more steps. All dark didn't stay, relocated elsewhere but sadly no refund. So dark and dingy.
Great hotel, breakfast very Asian, but thats to be expected. Made up with the free soup supper in the evening. The whole building and deco was brilliant. Esp the wooden tub in the bathroom. The only down side was that the room was cold. Made reception aware of this and they just smiled.... But overall bargain and well staying for a few nights.
You'll like it. Be warned in winter: there's no heating, but they give you extra blankets (-:
The hotel location not too far from night market, and easy getting aroud the Dalat city just hire a Motor near the hotel for 120,000vnd/day. BF is ok
The hotel is tucked inside a lane not far from a happening district and there is a short cut to the streets. My room is classically decorated and comes with an interesting wooden tub. The complimentary supper comes as a pleasant surprise. Front desk staff quality varies dramatically, ranging from hospitable to disinterested.
Very nice hotel, with a special character and atmosphere. Perfect location. Rooms need more maintanance
Is a good hotel, buffet is also good, only one day we get out of the room and they didnt clean the room after that,
