Breakfast had a good selection. The food in general was very good. The room was spotlessly clean. The staff were fantastic, really helpful and they genuinely go the extra mile for you.

We stayed in the offsite accommodation, and it is not particularly well soundproofed. You can hear everything from the people underneath. I would advise taking earplugs.

Der Ort ist toll, die Lage prima und dass wir unsere Motorräder in eine Hoteleigene Garage stellen konnten- ohne Aufpreis war auch super.

Es war ringhörig wenn jemand aussen an der Tür vorbeiging und nebenan die Türe zum Treppenhaus sich schloss, oder jemand die Treppe benutzte. Mit Ohrstöpseln gings. Die jungen Bedienungen im Hoteleigenen Restaurant könnten noch etwas an Service und Gastfreundlichkeit zulegen.

Great room in lovely pub, breakfast and dinner very good. Barnard Castle is a lovely town and you are in the heart of it in this splendid pub.

It was comfortable, modern,clean and adequate for our stay. The staff informed us where we would be staying and it was easy to find. It was away from the pub in another building.The breakfast was lovely and there was plenty of choice. There was a booklet explaining everything about the property and what is available in the surrounding area.

I couldn’t fault the accommodation.

Staff were excellent. Accommodation was offsite (just across the road) but free parking on the street beside our room. Breakfast excellent bedroom small but had everything required.

Hotel was fabulous, all to a very high quality. Very clear security to separate rooms from the pub below. Staff were incredibly professional and friendly. Food in the restaurant on the evening was delicious and reasonably priced. The included breakfast was also delicious with lots of options. We had a (quadruple) family room, with 2 of our children (16,11) which was very spacious and comfortable. Our room looked over the town, which was great. We loved our stay there, thanks to all.

Quaint family run friendly and efficient pub-hotel in excellent location. The courtyard room was good size, lovely and quiet. Excellent breakfast choices, good dinner menu in pub or restaurant and sheltered courtyard to enjoy drinks.

Very enjoyable stay. All staff were extremely friendly, hardworking and professional. The room was comfortable and clean. Lovely evening meal in the restaurant and good atmosphere as both the restaurant and bar were busy. Great selection of cooked breakfast options made to order. Would not hesitate to recommend to others

Excellent breakfast with lots of choice.

Friendly staff. Well equipped room with lovely bath and very generous with the teas and biscuits etc. Breakfast was quick and very good. Couldn't get a better location. Parking just out front is free overnight and no trouble getting a spot when we travelled.

The rooms were spacious and very clean every thing in the rooms you would want. We only stayed 2 nights but the room was cleaned and bed made. After the first night. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was very nice. Breakfast was excellent. This is the second stay we have had.

We were in the annex room next to the outside drinking area. We didn’t get much sleep before 1am on Saturday night. I don’t want to sound like a grump though. I would ask to stay in the main part of the hotel for my next visit.

It’s a lovely building for sure- stone walls and immaculate everywhere. Superb breakfast . Very helpful staff. Top class.

Room 1 was above the front. It was very noisy up to midnight with very rowdy customers. If we’d known in advance we would have chosen a different room.

Absolutely nothing

I had a 2 night stay in The Stables Annexe - everything about it was perfect, especially the location. The breakfast was very good indeed. I will definitely recommend it and hope to stay there again one day!

The room was quite big enough - unlike some hotels where they think you only need just enough room to walk round the bed. I would give the breakfast full marks. The breakfast menu was like you would expect in the best hotels - choice between full English and the likes of eggs royale etc. There wasn't the range of fruits and yoghurts to help yourself to but the smaller range was quite sufficient. I couldn't find an HDMI port on the television to connect to to watch my own programs so I had to make do with what was on or use my laptop (for which the broadband wifi was quite sufficient).

There was some "pub" noise in the evening from patrons sitting outside but that is inevitable and stopped at closing time.

We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend it. The location is excellent, making it easy to walk to everything. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, with modern, well-appointed bathrooms and all the facilities you would expect. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable, and the showers were powerful with plenty of hot water. The breakfast was absolutely exceptional and far exceeded our expectations. It was one of the highlights of our stay.

The only slight issue was at check-out. When we arrived, we were told that check-out was 11am, but as we were attending a wedding, the gentleman checking us in kindly said we would be fine leaving around 11:30am or even 11:45am as there was no rush. However, the following morning the cleaner knocked on the door asking us to leave immediately, which suggested there had been a misunderstanding between staff. It wasn't a major issue, but it did make the end of our stay feel a little rushed. Overall, this was a fantastic place to stay, and we wouldn't hesitate to return.

The Three horseshoes was a fantastic find. Rooms excellent. Modern and very comfortable. Staff were all friendly and helpful. The breakfast was also top notch. Will definately stay again when visiting the area.

Hotel beautifully refurbished with high quality fixtures and fittings. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The location is on the high street of Barnard Castle with plenty of independent shops and eateries. Plenty of places of interest to visit near by. A good base to visit the area.

We were in an offsite room, which we didn’t realise was on a completely different street to the hotel which was only a mild inconvenience but just bear this in mind if you book the offsite rooms.

Room was a bit small.

The breakfast was really nice and we ate in the bar during the evening and the food was excellent. Good choice of teas, coffee and biscuits in the room. A nice touch was the takeaway cups and lids so we could make a drink and take it with us on our journey. All the staff were pleasant and helpful.

Our room was off-site which might be an issue if the weather was poor. Well appointed room but the pillows were not comfortable.

We liked the central location and free parking. The breakfast was excellent with lots of choice. Our room was bright, well-decorated and comfortable. The bathroom was also very good.

We stayed during a heatwave, and the top-floor room was uncomfortably hot. This was mitigated by a fan but there was no air conditioning. It would have been helpful to have had directions to the parking area in advance.

Very helpful and quick at answering our questions on early arrival due to attending wedding, beautifully decorated exceptionally clean, every thing looked brand new. Breakfast was exceptional everything cooked perfectly and great choice. Would definitely stay again .

Delightful traditional pub which has been thoroughly modernised inside. We had a spacious, well-equipped and comfortable room with great facilities. Good value evening meal and superb breakfast. Secure storage for our bikes. Highly recommended.
