No breakfast on site

Couldn't find any staff, ringing the phone number at reception could hear it ringing unmanned office, key wasn't left at the reception desk as email stated.had to go to the nearest pub to ask if they could help . Took over 1hr after arriving to get the room key

The room was clean.

The room was cramped, no place to put bags. Difficult to make hot drink as the equipment was fighting for space on top of the fridge. Our room was next to the bar outdoor area.

Location right in the middle of the activities and by the beach. Kids flying fox and the mini golf right outside. The room was big enough for us and the bathroom was a good size. Nice and comfortable for a family. The shower was very welcoming for the kids who braved it to go for a swim despite the cold and rain. Loved the kitchen with everything but the food supplied so we could cook all our meals.

Didn't see or get to speak to any staff especially when according to the reviews they are very friendly. But they left the key and instructions so we could settle in.

It is noisy but that said it is a backpackers. The kitchen facilities could do with an upgrade on the ovens, hot plates and microwaves. We had no idea who was staff and who were other guests. We picked up our key from an unattended desk and dropped it off the same way.

We have stayed once before about 4 yrs ago. It is getting abit tired looking. Could do with some upgrades but as far as location and value for money goes it’s good.

There were no tables to set our possessions on, no (private) seating (in our room; forget those in the lobby), no surfaces on which to prepare tea or coffee, no surfaces on which to set bathroom items while using them in the bathroom and no drawers or cupboards to put clothes into. There were noisy residents, and thin walls because of which we didn’t get good sleep.

Location was excellent. The kitchen was very well equiped. The staff were helpful.

One of the bowls had not been washed but was stacked under a clean one which was quite yucky to find.

OMG the best shower ever. The room was all we needed, we spent most of our time at the stunning beach. The restaurant is right beside the rooms and offer Fantastic wood fired pizza. We will be back. Thank you.

Kein Warmwasser am ersten Tag, sehr einfache Ausstattung, lauter Kühlschrank, kein Aufzug, wenn man mit schwerem Gepäck unterwegs ist.

The location is excellent, close to the boat stop for Abel Tasman National Park, restaurants, and supermarkets, making it very convenient. The rooms are clean, and the kitchen facilities are small but convenient. The front desk staff are very friendly and patiently resolve any issues you may have. This is a suitable place to stay if you are planning to visit Abel Tasman National Park.

The location was amazing, right on the beach and close to everything else. The room was very nice, very clean, pretty big and the beds were comfortable. The kitchen was also spacious

Nice quiet king ensuited room

Great location for the area - beach across the street, access to Abel Tasman NP, etc. Parking available, which is a premium if a busy tourist time.

No air conditioning, so windows had to stay open. Bar next door has a really bad and very loud band that plays deep into the night. Tourists at the restaurant next door are right outside your window. If they smoke, you get it. If their kids are unattended, they are now staring in your window. It is a hostel, so I realize it is no frills. But the surrounding environment makes it very un-enjoyable.

Very accommodating staff, allowed us to exchange rooms with others in our party, Relaxed atmosphere catering to a wide variety of clientele, with a great restaurant on the property.

It is a nice backpackers but without the word “backpackers” in the title I was expecting something smarter. It’s fine, but just be aware it’s full of loud young people and the beds are pretty soft.

Nothing in particular..we had stayed in area before. This time we wanted to be close to the beach so accepted there may be noise from next door pub .. whilst we could hear it .. it did not bother us.

La cuisine commune trop petite pour accueillir le groupe qui était dans l'hôtel le 1er soir en plus des voyageurs, le 2e soir était plus calme et comparable aux autres auberges de jeunesse que nous avons fréquenté en nouvelle Zélande. Propreté de la cuisine assez moyenne en comparaison. Pas de rideau occultant dans la chambre qui donnait sur un couloir allumé toute la nuit, donc embêtant pour dormir. Literie très très molle.

The Manager was a fantastic guy and the young man at reception was exceptional. Very helpful and friendly!

The toilets were a bit smelly but this was due to the other guests and not the fault of the lodge staff

Very convenient location. Room was clean and comfortable. Bed, bedding and pillows were very comfortable.

Room was quite loud until 11 pm or so with lively bar and restaurant just below our window, but nice and quiet after that.

Perfect location for exploring Abel Tasman! Rooms were very spacious, friendly and attentive staff, and there is a lovely restaurant on site. Also had a fridge in the room to store water and lunch to take on my hike.

I stayed in 2 different rooms due to availability and the 1st room, which was a King Room, had lots of ants in the bathroom when I arrived. I know they can’t always be helped with the time of year I travelled, but the 2nd room I stayed in - the Budget Double/Twin - was lovely and clean!

Perfect location. Shower pressure fantastic.Manager was very welcoming and a great gesture given when he gave hot food to guests getting in late from Picton Ferry.

Ants in the bathroom Rm3. Toilet dripping all night Rm7. When addressed with office staff she said couldn't do anything and we think they knew there was already a problem. Night time noise with neighboring doors squeeking and main door opening /closing. Think rooms could do with a deep clean including blinds. Suggest more power points in rooms and space to hold luggage. I acknowledge it was a budget room with ensuite but a bit disappointed.

Stayed in the dorm rooms which were pretty basic but as you would expect for the price! Reception was kind and helpful letting me store my stuff before and after check in/out. There’s a great coffee cart outside and it’s so close to the beach!

The kitchen was a little bit on the small side and also you can’t sit up on the lower bunks which is a bit annoying. Also no plugs near the beds but these are minor issues :)

The lodge is easily accessible and only a few steps from beach. The rooms are large and clean, and the staff are readily available and willing to help with anything you need. The lodge is next to a restaurant, but there is no late night noise as it closes relatively early. They have both multi bed and single bed rooms for whatever your needs.

The location is excellent – right on a very beautiful beach. The staff at chicken were very helpful and polite. There is a fabulous restaurant for dinner and options for breakfast all on site as well as kitchen and facilities you can use yourself. The beds were very comfy and I would recommend This place.

Die Gemeinschaftsküche war extrem verdreckt. In unserem Zimmer saß am zweiten Abend eine riesengroße Kakerlake in der Dusche an der Wand. Um 19.00 Uhr war die Rezeption geschlossen, obwohl eigentlich bis 22.00 Uhr geöffnet. Am Morgen als ich das Problem geschildert habe, hieß es wir hätten anrufen können. Klar die Kakerlake hätte bestimmt gewartet. Meiner Bitte das Problem zu überdenken und mit uns in Kontakt zu treten, wurde ignoriert.

Great location but the place has a monopoly on where to eat at night as it was the only place open. Had to queue but the food was ok.

Room's are dated and need a makeover. The shower in our room was leaking downstairs so had to use shower across the hallway.

It is close to the beach and the main restaurants

In practice this is a hostel. In the evening, it gets very noisy and the young backpackers guests are (of course) loud! So it is very hard to sleep. In addition, the room was small and it deserves a renovation.

Close to the beach, good value for money, we were able to charge our e-bikes . Bedding was comfortable and clean.

The shower had a few sections of mould. The toilet was also running so we had to turn the tap off at the wall. Otherwise the room was ok.

Good shower, king size bed, close to restaurant, shop and water taxi offices. Staff was really nice and helpful.

It is quite noisy, especially rooms 3 and 7 who are adjacent to the terrace of the bar/restaurant next door. Effectively it feels you are on the terrace all the time and can only go to bed once the bar closes (10 pm). Also sound from inside (doors slamming, showers, TVs) can be heard. Room 3 was very small.
