I have just spent 6 wonderful days at this resort . I’ve travelled for 40 years and this would be one of the best for sure . From the impeccable friendly service from ALL the staff. You can not fault them at all . Rooms were spacious and clean and for value for money, you can not beat it. Breakfast was delicious and the view of beach is amazing . Bring adults only the atmosphere is good . They have happy hour , bingo , rum tasting etc . It was also my birthday whilst I was there and provided a beautiful birthday cake . You would be mad to miss this place .

We loved our stay at Explorar, and having just stayed at their Koh Samui location, we have to admit we loved Koh Phagnan better! The layout feels much more private and the bathrooms were more spacious. Also, I give the staff and service there 5 stars— I left an expensive dress there and didn’t realize it was missing until arriving home in California. The staff promptly arranged to have my dress shipped to me when I got in contact with them and it arrived in just a few days. I can’t thank them enough for their professionalism and hospitality. We loved this place.

This hotel has excellent service from the staff. The first impression was immediately positive, especially from the warm and welcoming reception staff, particularly Zoe. She was kind, friendly, and provided great advice on the hotel's activities. The breakfast was excellent, the coffee was delicious, and the swimming pool was great. Overall, I was very impressed💗

Our stay at Explorar Koh Phangan was truly exceptional. From the beautiful tropical surroundings and relaxing atmosphere to the excellent service, everything made our experience truly special. The resort is the perfect place to escape everyday life, relax, and enjoy a high standard of hospitality in a stunning setting. A special mention must go to Star at the bar, whose professionalism, friendliness, and attentiveness were outstanding. Star is not only an excellent bartender but also someone who creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere for every guest. His genuine hospitality made a real difference to our stay and left a lasting impression. We would also like to give special recognition to the massage therapists Nuk and Nan. Both were incredibly professional, attentive, and highly skilled. The massages were deeply relaxing and of excellent quality. You can immediately tell that they are passionate about their work and genuinely care about the well-being of their guests. The treatments were definitely one of the highlights of our stay. The entire team at Explorar Koh Phangan was friendly, helpful, and committed to making our stay as enjoyable as possible. However, Star, Nuk, and Nan deserve a special thank you for their exceptional service and professionalism. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend Explorar Koh Phangan. We would be very happy to return!

Super clean resort. Some food and drink is a bit overpriced for portion or quality but happy hour buy one get one free is decent. Great service, beautiful view with infinity pool to beach. Great customer service… nice landscaping.. hour walk from fisherman’s village which we usually took a grab there and walked back. Nice atmosphere at hotel- good for unwinding or romance. Comfy beds with amazing air conditioning. Book the free rum tasting with local product- AMAZING. Thai cooking class was OK. They also offer free pizza class which we did not do.

Broken AC, Metal in the Food, and Outright Lies — Avoid Explorer Koh Phangan ⭐☆☆☆☆ Reviewed: April 2026 | Property: Explorer Koh Phangan | Trip type: Leisure We had high hopes for Explorer Koh Phangan. What we experienced was one of the most frustrating and frankly dishonest hotel stays we have ever had. Air Conditioning — Broken and Lied About The air conditioning in our room did not work from the moment we checked in. On an island like Koh Phangan, where heat and humidity are relentless, this is not a minor inconvenience — it is genuinely unpleasant and makes rest almost impossible. When we reported the issue to reception, we were told there were no alternative rooms available to move us into. This was a lie. Rooms were available. The air conditioning in those rooms was functioning perfectly. Rather than resolve our problem honestly, staff chose to mislead us and leave us in an unliveable room. That is a serious breach of basic guest trust. Food Safety — A Metal Spring in the Dish The restaurant at Explorer Koh Phangan presents itself as a dining destination. It is not. During our stay, a metal spring was discovered in the food — a significant food safety failure that has no place in any kitchen, at any level. This needs to be addressed by management immediately and urgently. Beyond the safety concern, the food quality was consistently poor. The chicken was extraordinarily tough — harder to cut than beef — and multiple dishes tasted stale, as though freshness and preparation standards were simply not being met. The Chef’s Attempt to Buy Our Silence What followed over the next two days was, in our view, a transparent attempt at damage control. The chef visited our table on multiple separate occasions offering complimentary drinks. We understand hospitality, and we understand genuine goodwill. This was neither. This was an effort to soften our complaints and discourage us from speaking out. It did not work, and if anything, it confirmed that management was aware something had gone wrong and chose appeasement over accountability. Final Word Dishonest front desk staff, a food safety incident, inedible food, and a sweltering room on a tropical island. Explorer Koh Phangan failed at every level that matters. Fellow travellers — particularly those visiting Koh Phangan for relaxation — deserve far better than this. There are many excellent properties on this island. This is not one of them.

Very comfortable stay with the most friendly staff.

Stayed here for 6 nights. Had a couple of massages which were great. Last day had a massage with Jeab as the therapist and have to say it’s the best massage I have had in 20 years during travels in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Australia etc. The staff here are all very nice in all areas and very helpful. Food is also of a high standard.

Hotel was lovely and staff couldn’t do enough for you. Right on the beach with sunbeds and beanbags to lounge on. The only downside was next door had an ongoing party which was so loud. The Explorer staff gave us a letter to notify us of this happening that evening and provided ear plugs, but did say if it was too much, that they did have emergency rooms if required for sleep. I had to phone at 1:45an as I literally couldn’t sleep. I tried the ear plugs and my ear phones with my phone at the loudest setting. I could still hear all the words to the songs and the bass vibrating the room. I was told by staff sorry no rooms and that would let management know the next day. They said the party would finishe between 3 and 4am. As you can imagine this was frustrating especially as I had a flight the next day. If you value your sleep then I wouldn’t bother with this hotel as think this is a regular thing. The eve before I could feel the bass through the room and bed.

I stayed at Explorar Koh Phangan for five nights, and it’s been a genuinely great experience. What stands out most is the service. It’s attentive, calm, and very personal — never forced, never overdone. You feel welcome and well looked after from the moment you arrive. The layout of the resort is beautiful. The tropical path that runs through the property gives the whole place a relaxed, natural flow, and just walking around feels peaceful. It’s clearly well thought through and well maintained. Breakfast is excellent and caters to everyone, whether you want something healthy, light, or more filling. It’s generous, high quality, and unhurried — exactly how breakfast on holiday should feel. The infinity pool is another highlight. Watching the sunset from there in the evening is something special and never gets old. Having a 7-11 literally across the street is a great convenience, and enjoying one of the signature drinks at the bar at night is almost mesmerizing. It's no detriment either that the French chef can't stop conjuring culinary magic on a daily basis. Honestly, I struggle to think of anything Explorar could have done better for me. Explorar doesn’t try to be flashy. It’s a place where details matter, and where the owners and staff clearly care about both the space and the people staying there. I left rested and grateful — and I can’t wait to return again. To Khin, Moe, Way and Ya Ya, thank you for giving me peace of mind in the mornings. Great pizza

We had such a wonderful stay! The atmosphere was calm and relaxing, the rooms were super clean and comfortable, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We also joined the cooking class and it was such a fun experience. Everyone there – Somkiat, Khin, Moe, Aung, and Thiha – was so sweet and made the class both enjoyable and easy to follow. Their explanations were clear, and the whole experience felt warm and welcoming. Highly recommended for anyone looking for both a great hotel stay and a memorable activity! 🌿🍳

The staff is pleasant, and attentive to our needs (Crohn's patient) and even regarding "kashrut". I would do another workshop with them :)

Everything was great from the warm welcoming and help from Jane from the beginning to the last minute. And the 2 Thai girl who work at the pool bar were very friendly and nice! In general all the staff were kind. The room was great! Pool and sea view so beautiful! I definitely recommend this hotel

We stayed at Explorar Hotel on Koh Phangan twice already, each time for two weeks, and it was absolutely fantastic. The hotel is spotless – everything is kept extremely clean – and the food is outstanding, easily some of the best we’ve had on the island. What really makes this place special, though, is the team. The staff are incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring. They go above and beyond to make sure every guest feels comfortable, often anticipating needs before you even ask. It truly feels like everything is taken care of for you. Explorar Hotel has quickly become one of our favorite places to stay, and we can’t wait to return again. We had such a fantastic experience at the cooking class in the hotel! Everything was super well organized, the food we prepared was absolutely delicious, and the whole atmosphere was warm and fun. A big thank you to Nie, Kookik, Somkiat, Ya Ya, Aung, and Trank – they were amazing! They explained everything in such a relaxed and friendly way, making the class both easy to follow and very enjoyable. We learned a lot, laughed a lot, and left not only with full stomachs but also with great memories. Highly recommended!

This year was my second time staying at this wonderful hotel. Last year I came with four friends, and we had an amazing guys’ trip. This year was completely different – my honeymoon – and the hotel was just as perfect for a romantic stay as it was for a fun holiday with friends. The breakfast is fantastic, and the restaurant and pool bar are equally excellent. The staff are incredibly warm and welcoming – they even remembered me after a whole year, which made me feel truly at Home. Today we had a great cocktail event with a small group (for free!) and made a lovely cocktail and learned new things i will try again back Home. Thanks June and Yok! The rooms are modern, spotless, and very comfortable. The pool is right on the beach, with plenty of loungers available, making it easy to relax and enjoy the view. Whether you’re here for a lively trip with friends or a romantic getaway, this hotel delivers in every way. I can’t recommend it enough, and I’m already looking forward to coming back again!

We really enjoyed our stay here. The whole complex is very beautiful and stylish. The staff are very courteous and impress with their great hospitality. The rooms are modern and functional. From the hotel you can reach the party zone on foot in a few minutes.

This boutique resort is absolutely incredible. The rooms are modern and clean, the facilities encourage you to stay at the resort for longer and the location is absolutely stunning. The food was priceless, showcased in such an innovative way and absolutely delicious .Hands down the best breakfast we have ever had. But hands down the most amazing experience would be the staff. They remember your name, your room number your coffee orders and always stop to say hello. You become a part of their family. Amazing really loved it, the service was excellent. I got the avocado toast and it was delicious. The smoothies were lovely I got a pineapple smoothie and really enjoyed it. They offered us a free shot at the end of the meal. They let us use the pool also x

It was my first time visiting Koh Phangan and although I didn’t stay at the Explorar Koh Phangan, I had the pleasure of dining at their Odyssey restaurant after hearing so many excellent reviews about the hotel and it was an experience worth trying. From the moment I stepped into the hotel, the staffs at the reception greeted me with warmth and professionalism and helped to escort me to the restaurant. The hotel also have a pool bar, both close to their swimming pool and right next to the beach. The staffs at the restaurant were great and interactive that the place feels like home. Unfortunately, I did not get the chance to order at the pool bar. However, the next time I come back to the island, I would definitely consider staying at Explorar Koh Phangan.

Yok gave us the best night ever. We enjoyed ourselves a lot. Great location, drinks and staff, need to come back very soon!

First time i visited this island and im so glad to choose this hotel. Even tho it's a party island, this hotel is so peaceful and calm. You can also go to Haad Rin Beach by walk. Rooms are clean and big, pool is amazing, coctails are super delicious!! Special thanks to: Joe, Moe, Way, Ben, Aung, Thiha and Khin. They are professionel and friendly staff at the same time. Beautiful and clean rooms. Nice seaside restaurant and kind staff. We were able to check in early and reaching the restaurant is easy for full moon party. Vibr at the beach club and pool are super nice. Mango sticky rice was amazing with delicious local thai food as well.

Amazing hotel! We had a room in the lush jungle. The pool and common areas were very pleasant and theres coral to snorkel around on the beach at the front. All the staff were very freindly and we reallt wnjoyed the iced matcha lattes at breakfast!

What a fabulous quirky beach front hotel. The staff and facilities are top class. The swimming pool was amazing.. We had the best of both worlds with the beach right beside the pool. The bean bags around the pool were so comfy. You can get drinks brought to your bell ringing a bell while lying out. Would stay again if visiting the island again.

Stayed 2 nights ,arrived early and let us check in to the room early. Booked room with terrace which was good size and clean and tidy with large bed and bathroom. Was told mini bar was free which was a nice touch. Set in lovely greenery with sound of nature and lovely pool area. Second day there was a DJ 2 till 6 which would be unsuitable for some people wanting to relax as was very loud!! Didn't bother us alot as it was only for a few hours, I'm guessing as it was the half moon party that evening. Next day it was back to quiet and relaxing music. Staff are great and kayaks and paddle boards available for guests. Happy hour is amazing but one get one free between 3-5. Food is nice but a little on the expensive side. A scooter is needed to get around as taxis are expensive. Haad rin is a 10 mins walk down the road, nice for 1 night but doesn't provide the Thai experience. It's quiet outside of full moon party. I had a massage was 241 during our stay. The lovely lady was so nice who was doing it. Wasnt too impressed with the breakfast, spread was limited, bread wasn't great tasted stale. More could be done to keep fruit ect in fridge as flies got all over the food which was just out. Overall great stay would recommend for a few nights but make sure you can visit other parts of the island.

If you’re looking for a romantic getaway or couples retreat near Koh Samui, Explorar Koh Phangan is an absolute gem. My partner and I were blown away by the peaceful, adults-only vibe — perfect for unwinding and reconnecting. The infinity pool overlooking the ocean is probably the best in Koh Phangan, if not all of Koh Samui. We spent hours there just soaking in the view with cocktails in hand (the mixology at the bar is next level!). The staff were genuinely friendly and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Every meal was a highlight — especially the authentic Mediterranean food and pizza. You can really tell they use fresh ingredients and put love into each dish. We also tried a couple of the wellness activities and loved the modern take on holistic wellness. It’s a luxury adults-only escape that actually delivers. We’re already planning our next visit.

Explorar Koh Phangan gave us exactly what we needed: peace, privacy, and pure luxury. It’s hard to find a true adults-only resort that strikes the right balance between laid-back and upscale, but this place nails it. The infinity pool here is unreal, hands down the best in Koh Phangan (and we’ve visited a few). It’s the kind of view that makes you pause and appreciate the moment. Their Mediterranean food is another standout. We were honestly surprised at how good the pizza was , thin, crispy, and packed with flavor. Perfect to enjoy poolside with a craft cocktail (their mixology game is strong). Whether you’re here for a romantic getaway, a couples retreat, or a holistic wellness escape, this is one of the best luxury adults-only options near Koh Samui. Highly recommend.

The rooms were nestled into beautiful foliage for privacy. The gardens as a whole were lovely and well tended. The staff were wonderful and couldn't do enough for you. Nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant led directly onto the beach as did the infinity pool/pool bar. The beach was cleaned twice a day to remove leaves etc. - a lovely walk, peaceful, not too many people. The only downside for us was a lack of shade areas as we prefer not to sit out in direct sun. Having said that we thoroughly enjoyed our four week stay.

Check in was fast and efficient. We used the pick up option from the port it was good value and they were very reliable. When we arrived we were ‘upgraded’ to a two bedroom villa after we had booked a deluxe sea view room. We were then informed that there was a beach party next door happening on the first night and we were upgraded because of this. This resulted in loud music until 5am even though we were advised it would be over at 2am. The room was nice spotlessly clean big and spacious. The staff did a great job cleaning. The pool is lovely with really nice sun sets. It was clear coming up to the weekend that the hotel was allowing lots of outside guests in which were over crowding the pool area not allowing for the guests in the hotel to have space. Although there were many signs saying not to smoke cannabis at the pool they were ignored. On our last day we were advised because of the beach party they would give us a complementary check out at 3pm at 1pm we were told that we had to leave the room and check out even though we were told we being given this and we even had this in writing on the app. The restaurant was lovely nice selection for breakfast lunch and dinner were lovely also and great pizzas. The cocktails were amazing and what really topped our stay was the 5* restaurant and bar staff. They were really amazing kind and hard working. Joe, Way J-me and kitkoat were so kind and could not have done more for the guests.

The hotel has a lovely beach stuff very friendly and helpful the rooms are OK not to special ,showers can be way better the shower heads reminded me of a shower in a hostel not of a 4 star hotel.

My wife, myself and friends of ours stayed here for a few days before and after NYE 24. It is a beautiful hotel with great facilities and a lovely beach. It is also located just a ten minute walk from Haad Rin Beach where NYE and full moon parties are held. Though their greatest asset has got to be their staff members who were incredibly polite, welcoming hospitable and helpful, we were particularly assisted by Fang on a few occasions, she went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed.

The property location is perfect on the beach which is very clean. The sea is almost mirror flat and loverly to swim in. The hotel has a great vibe with adults only, no children ruining the pool environment. The staff are amazing and very helpful paying attention to your needs before you ask. The room was clean and easy to stay in with an amazing shower. (Very powerful). The food in the restaurant is very good and the staff were great at supporting us with gluten and dairy free food. Our view, best located hotel on the beach and the best place to stay.

We stayed for 3 nights prior to New Years Eve. Loved the beach front, great sun loungers, beanbags and cocktails for sunset. Rooms all terraced, terraces could be dark due to set back in gardens but rooms bright, clean, modern with huge bathrooms and great bed! Service charge (10%) and 7% tax added to all food/drink purchases which can add up! No advance notice of pool party days (luckily for us happened on last day but would be good to know when booking if that’s what you want to avoid or attend!). Great breakfast. 10 min walk to Haad Rin beach. Would recommend if you want adults only but pick timings carefully if you’re looking to avoid party atmosphere. Good beach vibe.

Hotel in a lovly position... staff very friendly Breakfast and bar snacks (shrimp cakes are gorgeous)are excellent always plenty of beds and bean bags around the pool. My only moan is thres hardly any storage space for clothes no side draws etc so lived out my suit case for 4 nights but I wouldn't of like to been here for any longer as I didn't feel settled. In my opinion thats the only thing that lets the hotel down Rooms are clean but feel spasre.

Very good amenities, rooms are spacious, pretty decor with wall paintings and white scented hortensia throughout the resort. Team is very attentive and special thanks to Khun Tum for an amazing morning trek to the view point in a fresh forest mist!

The Explorar Koh Phangan was an amazing property. The staff was awesome. Breakfast buffet was great. The pool, the room, fitness center all great. Not to mention an amazing sunset every night. Would highly recommend and would definitely return.

The Koh phangan property isn’t as nice as the one on Koh Samui. The stay would have been much better if the hotel did not open the pool area to the public at a cut price rate - this just crowded the pool at certain times of the day. The clientele weren’t always pleasant, The pool water had a weird chemical taste - sour is the closest way to describe it. Having said that the restaurant food was very good; the massages were excellent and there was a spacious and quiet co-working space to get some work done.

We stayed in the Ocean View suite. Awesome view. Great bed. Staff was great! Particular shot out to our bartender Joe and his team. Would absolutely stay again.

Great location. Overall everything was perfect, the staff was amazing. The only thing I wanted more was for them to step up the food a little more. It was’t bad or anything but plenty of opportunities to improve.

Everything was perfect for our wedding anniversary trip. Breakfast buffet to start the day, then straight into the pool to wake up some more, walking around haad rinn is easy, plenty of shopping and things to do. Friendly staff that took care of anything and everything. Will stay here again. Wish I knew they had another location in Samui too. Will stay here again and again.

We were staying somewhere else much less nice and moved to this hotel. Made our stay in Koh Phangan amazing!

Explorar Koh Phangan is really good value. The service is amazing and the food is top notch. The rooms are clean and well designed and built. Maybe more expensive than other places nearby but it is worth it.

The resort is very nice, clean on a nice beach. The service and the food is excellent. The rooms are very big, nice and very modern, BUT they lack completely the functionality. In a superior room, on a very large space it is a king bed, only a night table and a shelf under the TV. The closet is very small, no drawers, no place to put your luggage and more, no desk and chair in this large room! waist of space!

Wonderful place to stay in Koh Phangan beach front with a infinity pool and great breakfast. The staff are wonderful always smiling and Thank you Fabia for helping me checking in and making me feel welcome. Everything is so close by to walk around and explore Haad Rin and full moon party but far enough to not really hear the noise from the full moon party.

Brilliant stay in a modern and peaceful resort. Fantastic pool and beach facilities for relaxing days and then a short 10 minute walk from town for the evenings. The staff were always very friendly and there to offer help and advice. We would definitely recommend this hotel!

Absolutely amazing! We both loved everything about it. Nice rooms, we walked down the beach and through the town most day’s which took about 15 mins (to get to Haad Rin beach - where the fun is)! Would highly recommend

First off. Amazing bed and bedding!!! Great location close to town nice beach. Laundry scooter rental and taxi across street. Beautiful grounds and well kept rooms only downside if your disabled no access for wheelchairs. Nice infinity pool right on beach and some cheaper bars and restaurants a little walk down beach. Evan was super helpful in all are needs. Great resort. Best beds

This resort is excellent!! Great location, great service and staff. For an excellent price. Everything was very clean and the food was amazing and very cheap. Bed were very comfy. I will 1000% be back.

Very nice hotel. The pool and beach areas are fun but the rooms are in not a great shape. Good for a young couple or a group of young travelers. Stuff is amazing!!!!
