The setting, scenery and hotel were 5 star plus!
What a property! The drive in is stunning. Amazing greeting. Easy parking within a gated area. The check-in was first class. We were given a tour of the property which is incredible. The rooms are incredible. Then we experienced a wine tasting that we won't forget. The Banfi wines are amazing. Then we experienced arguably our favourite dining experience at the Michelin Star restaurant on the property. What a property! What a team!! We are already discussing our return.
Very peaceful
Great property and excellent dining options. I had to cut one star due reception
We enjoyed the stay. Everything was very nice and orderly. The restaurants are delicious. They have activities to do on the property such as a tour of the winery, a bike tour through the grounds, and truffle hunting. Montalcino is a 20 minute drive away but there are also a couple charming smaller towns closer than that.
Amazing scenery and castle. Great restaurants
Fantastic staff and unique impressive room with fabulous views
The hotel seems like a little piece of paradise for it's beauty. I could really die happy there. Our room was perhaps larger than my house (the bathroom defitely was). Besides that, I have to congratulate the staff. What an amazing and professional people. It particularly amazed me that the girl in the reception, during our check-out, didn't even asked me my name or my room number. She just knew it. I felt really special for that. Hope to be back soon.
The place is beautiful. The photos don’t do this place justice. I highly recommend staying here.
Exceptional property, amazing service, super quiet
Castello Banfi is a lovely place to take a short retreat in beautiful and astonishingly quiet surroundings. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable, with luxurious linens. The pool was pleasantly warm considering relatively cool weather. The view is lovely. We enjoyed two excellent meals at the Taverna. The staff are gracious and welcoming.
Spectacular is the only word for it !
Beautiful property and excellent service from the staff.
Don’t miss out. This place is incredible.
One of the most pristine and stunning properties we have stayed at. The views are unmatched. Truly the quintessential Tuscany we were looking for. The wine tour was fabulous as were the restaurants on property. AMAZING
I did not want to leave. If i could, i'd live there. What a beautiful place. You sit out at the pool and look over the valley and it doesn't even seem real. Its like a portrait and it is real! and right in front of you! The service here was amazing. The food was amazing. The amenities were amazing. I will return hands down. Purely magnificent!
This is a beautiful hotel with wonderful restaurants. What we didn't like is they allow children. The hotel property is small so they always seem to be right where you are even on the winery tour. We didn't like that every meal, even the high end restaurant included toddlers running around and babies crying.
Beautiful propert. Views and sunsets ar gorgeous.
Amazing place, service, food, wine.
Unbelievable property in the most relaxing setting imaginable
It is great place to stay, the staff are super nice and helpful. Also, it is bike friendly I love it.
Magical. Beauty of the landscape surpassed only by the kindness of the staff. Do yourself a favor and book a tasting menu dinner at its Michelin-starred restaurant. Generous pours at wine tasting and, if you’re not careful, you’ll end up filling out an export sheet for a couple of cases of wine.
Check in was perfect, the staff is amazing, the food is great, loving it all
Amazing hotel, staff, room, location, food, and activities. Worth every penny. Excellent
Amazing Private Tour of the Winery.
outstanding from the rooms to the staff
This is one of the nicest places we ever stayed in our 42 years of marriage! Everything is first class, 12 stars out of 10.
Great location in Tuscany, beautiful and immaculate grounds and rooms, very good service and great food. More dramatic and cinematic than the nice website. We also did the cooking class at the farmhouse and Samuele, the chef, made the day and experience unforgettable, truly outstanding. Dinner service was also exceptional, it is clear they try to nail every detail for the guests. We did not wander into the nearby small towns, so can’t comment but they’re close including Montalcino. Walking, running or biking the many many acres of Tuscan countryside and vineyards of Banfi and the pool, terraces and other common areas kept us happy. We also stayed at 5 star hotel in Rome and Villa In Positano, along with many top restaurants in both locations, and as far as quality of rooms and furnishings, amenities, common areas, grounds, service and food, Banfi was better as an overall package.
Loved the location of Banfi—lots of close day trips or enjoy the property if you like. We had dinner at the hotels restaurant first night (and although our baby monitor didn’t reach restaurant, receptionist thoughtfully offered to keep an ear out for us) and it was outstanding. Montalcino is fab and Pienza is a must. We enjoyed the tour of the facilities and tasting at the Enoteca as well. It’s hard to justify the price, but it was a great stay. Side note: we traveled with our 6 month old baby and hotel provided a pack and play with cute sheets, etc. and soaps for her to use. Super baby friendly. We also stopped at Casanova de Neri for a tasting and loved it—very close, very delicious, very approachable.
We arrived at the gate and immediately were met in the parking area by someone in a cart who assisted us with our luggage and gave us a ride to reception. Upon check-in we were given a tour of the grounds so we knew where breakfast, the restaurant, electric bikes and our room all were. It was beautiful! We went to our room and it was quite large and plush with a very comfortable bed. We had dinner reservations and were able to spend some time looking around before we needed to start getting ready. The next morning my wife became quite I'll with a tummy bug. The staff were so kind, allowing us to move around our activities and check out later so she could get some rest. Our stay at this location was a last minute addition to our vacation. We initially hoped to stay 2 days but due to other set reservations in Florence only had a day here. Beautiful grounds, spacious and comfortable accommodations and top notch service. I strongly suggest to anyone who is planning a visit that you allow at least 2+ days so that you can fully immerse yourself in the experience, it is definitely worth it!
I cannot say enough good things about this hotel, the staff, and our stay. Food was fantastic. Hotel was clean. Gorgeous views and sunset. We went on an outstanding Vineyard tour and tasting. Request Vincenzo! He was the best. We were so sad to leave and have booked already for next year!
Location in Tuscany cannot be beat.
Unbelievable stay for our honeymoon! This is a special hotel! Beautiful property in Montalcino. Everything was perfect! Would stay here again and definitely recommend it if you’re in the area.
Castello Banfi - Il Borgo is either a great place to anchor your restoration or to invigorate your exploration. There's plenty to do on property: a wine tour through the high-tech wine production facility; wine tasting overlooking the Tuscan landscape (you have a substantial selection to choose from); lounging by the pool overlooking the many acres of grape vines, olive and plum trees, and the hills beyond; a visit to their glass museum; an intimate cooking class with one of the top Chefs in Italy (from 10am-2pm, you prep, learn, eat and drink and eat and drink...); and did I say eat?...you start your day with a wonderful breakfast overlooking the estate and the morning fog rising from the hills; 2 lunch options either poolside or in their restaurant; dinner is the highlight. Remember, this is Tuscany, so bring your appetite! And don't forget to stop in the library after dinner for late night drinks and finger foods by the fire. Here to explore? Then Castello Banfi is a great launching pad. We drove to Montepulciano for lunch, then to Pienza for wine/cheese before making our way to Banfi. The next day was lunch & dinner in Montalcino. Each town offers plenty of history, scenery, food, shopping (wine, leather and shoes aplenty), and site seeing. We did a quick trip to Chianti as well. Our final day was spent in Florence. We cheated ourselves in trying to see all we could in a day. Florence is a city you could spend a week in. Sad to leave, but we'll be back!
It was an amazing experience and although it was expensive it was well worth it.
We were upgraded to a suite across the rose garden. Shame they didn't really explain the additional facilities such as being able to take the mountain bikes or lunch options. We ordered for wine to be sent back to London and this was suvh a great treat.
Something out of a fairy tale - beautiful place, terrific staff, perfect in every way.
great vineyard, beautiful hotel, rooms were very spacious and truly luxurious. it was worth spending the money.
From arrival to departure this hotel was an absolute dream! The service and friendliness of the staff was top notch. The view in every direction is breathtaking! The size of the room was very spacious and the cleanliness of the room was very pristine. I would highly recommend this hotel! It was one of the best hotel experiences that I have ever had!
The Castello Banfi il Borgo is one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in Europe. It sits on 7,000 acres with views of nothing but vinyards and majestic scenery. The hotel itself is small - 14 rooms - and thus perfect for relaxing. And the hotel staff are very attentive yet not intrusive. I felt very welcomed and enjoyed the chance to unwind. I suggest having a rental car as the property is rather remote and about 20 minutes to Montalcino.
The hotel is beautiful, the accommodations were fantastic, the staff was wonderful. It is not necessarily close to anything we wanted to visit, but staying at the facility itself, was wonderful. The restaurant was also great!
This hotel is perfect. In wine terms, it's easily a 100 pointer.
Everything was excellent except the food service. It was extremely so and unattentive at the pool and room service. The restaurant service and food was fantastic.
Beautiful castle on the hill. Definitely one of the nicest places to stay in Montalcino. So glad we happened upon it last minute. We would definitely stay there again. Location central to all the vineyards.
5 Star restaurant, beautiful grounds, friendly staff. Top place to stay in this region.
Everything was amazing! Service and cleaniss was superb!!!!
This hotel is absolutely gorgeous. We arrived after dark, and to see the hotel in lights atop a hill was awesome. Everything about it was first class. We thought we could use it as a base to discover Tuscany, but it is a bit remote and quite a drive to the sights. It is worth a stay, but probably just a night or two.
It is really a wonderful hotel to stay with it's location, architecture, decoration and service. Everything was beyond our expectations. Especially the food we had and of course the wines were excellent. Everybody in this small boutique hotel were so nice and helpful apart from the recepionist Andrea. He may be a nice person but his agressive attitude could be easily understood even from a phone call. I had to call the reception desk to ask how to get connected to the internet and even with such a simple question he would be very annoying. The second thing is, I made my booking through expedia and I thought that I paid the full amount during my reservation. Also my itinerary says that I've paid the full price. But when I was checking out he told me that they wouldn't get the full amount during booking so I had to pay the full amount again. So I did but I was confused.I hope they didn't charge me twice. On the other hand my daugters had left our camera in their room, they found it while they were cleaning it and inform us about our missing camera. I would like to thank them once more for this kind and thoughtful act. Overall Castello Banfi is a must stay place if you are visiting Tuscany.
Great place to stay and enjoy great wine and a fantastic country side. The staff / service was exceptional.
Great team. Great food. Great environment. First class in every way. Great wine!
Castello Banfi has hands down the most amazing grounds of any hotel my wife or I have ever stayed at. The pool had the most breathtaking views and we took advantage of the free cocktail hour in the library each evening while playing some board games. The Enoteca on sight was great for several wine tastings and the restaurant, La Taverna, treated us to some of the best meals we've ever had. Castello Banfi is a little slice of heaven on earth and it's the ultimate location for a romantic getaway or just to relax and recharge yourself for a few days.
We spent a lovely four nights recently at Castello Banfi. The service was very good and the setting just charming. The estate is (rightly) very proud of its wines and there were ample chances to try these, including at complimentary pre-dinner drinks. We mainly relaxed and stayed in and around the hotel but found it very easy to drive to Montepulciano, Montalcino and Pienza and back in one day. When we next stay we will also take in Siena, as we avoided going there this time due to the Palio. Highly recommended, particularly for a special occasion.
Great stay. Would recommend maids do not clean up cooking experience till after guests are done with lunch. Banging pots and pans sort of ruins experience. Otherwise great place.
This is truly one of the most beautiful places I have EVER stayed! I can't wait to go back! From the moment you arrive, you are fabulously greeted & the staff makes you feel like royalty! From the food, the staff services, & the wine.... It is a truly magical experience!
This hotel offers relaxation and comfort with superb staff, beautiful rooms and excellent cuisine.
This Hotel is one of the most breathtaking stays one could ask for. The service was impeccable, the room was beyond beautiful , restaurant food exquisite, and the wine tasting room and staff were top notch in their knowledge. The staff is multi lingual and they cannot do enough for you! The best Hotel service and we did not want to leave!
