Everything was fantastic. The breakfast was brilliant.
There was nothing not to like.
Everything
Nothing
Breakfast and dinner were fine. The room was ok with a small double bed.
Our score relates to the fact that they should not take a booking on a Friday or Saturday night from travellers who need a good night’s sleep. The music stopped about one o clock on Sunday morning and at 2.10 am, the bar clients began to disperse. There was no chance of sleeping with the continuous noise.
The food was absolutely outstanding.
The room / tables to eat from were absolutely terrible.
Lovely building with lots of character, close to the town centre and railway station.
Access to the car park is a bit tight and it’s fairly small, there is a free public car park across the main road so we just used that instead. Not an issue.
Staff team could not have been friendlier and the food was excellent for a local pub
Nothing
Breakfast was delicious with a good variety and choice in a pretty dining room Our room was nicely decorated with a comfy bed and good shower room. We enjoyed the band playing in the garden, a lovely Sunday afternoon
Very friendly
Shower difficult to operate
Very comfortable rooms, beds and nice bathroom.
Sticky tables in restaurant / breakfast room.
Lovely historical building with nice atmosphere in the pub (they had live music the evening we were there), and it was a good dinner. Room was spacious and pleasant and staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good. Lovely cat wandering around, too! Easy to walk into Lostwithiel.
Helpful friendly staff, comfortable room, good food.
Could do with a few comfortable chairs outside.
The staff were very friendly.
Bed were 2 singles pushed together with a topper
Quaint, charming, friendly
Very castle feeling floor warped very mediviel feeling but we loved it very clean
Very clean room absolutely beautiful Welcoming and friendly hosts Delicious food Excellent location
Lovely fully refurbished quality bedroom overlooking the quite street this pub fronts. On site parking with very nice exterior seating garden style for drinks and food. Great breakfast with attentive hosts.
We loved our stay . The food is amazing, loved breakfast, the roast dinner is one of the best we have had . Staff are lovely especially Kiera who was so attentive and friendly.Great place to stay and in a fantastic village.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. I arrived late due to road closures on route. Thank you for being so accomodating. Really enjoyed my stay.
The hosts and staff were all very helpful and friendly. We felt very relaxed and comfortable in the hotel. Local advice was offered and we got the impression that nothing would be too much trouble for them. Breakfast was excellent and freshly cooked, dinner had lots of options in all 3 courses. We enjoyed it so much we dined there all 3 nights of our stay. I am “gluten free” and there were options for me and they were also happy to modify most of the other dishes.
Can’t think of anything.
It was a very last minute convenient stopping point on our way to Veryan. The staff were able to conjure up some gluten free bread for my wife.
Nothing really.
Great location good food and breakfast was wonderful. Beds were comfortable good showers in rooms
Nothing all was to our liking
Fantastic team Great location Friendly pub with lovely food Very comfortable bed & great breakfast
Our third visit, staff are so helpful, good locals pub, nice garden area, food is good, sports shown, room was comfy, breakfast was nice. Parking and in centre of lovely Lostwithiel so an easy walk to everything.
The staff were lovely and very helpful. The food was grest and the room was lovely

Food was amazing. Lovely staff who couldn’t do enough for you. Lovely atmosphere. Really comfortable bed.
Not enough coat hangers.
Friendly
Friendly staff, great location and the comfiest bed ever.
Location, staff and food. Great value.
The breakfast was great and all the staff were very helpful.
The room was very compact!
Great little Inn, comfy bed, good breakfast, amazing coffee
Can't think of anything
This was a great place to stay for our one night visit to the area. We particularly wanted to visit the National Trust property, Lanhydrock, on our way to southern Cornwall which was very close to the hotel. The weather was awful and the pub room was very cosy. Dinner at the restaurant was good restaurant quality and the full English breakfast was fantastic.
Nothing
Lovely friendly staff, great location and good room. Best veggie breakfast I’ve had for a long time 😁. We will be staying here again. Highly recommend
Was so welcoming
Friendly staff. Clean large room with nice bathroom. Breakfast was excellent.
The location was good for us to visit Polperro and Fowey.Parking was free onsite. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable for a short stay. Breakfast was great, good selection. Went to local Indian restaurant for dinner which was very good and easy walk from hotel.(Moonlight Tandoori). Loved the cats.
Most hospitable and comfortable.
All good
Nothings
It’s location and friendly owners and staff. Nothing was to much trouble.
Nothing
There is nothing not to like the place is perfect this is the second time we have stayed here and we will definitely stay here again every time we go to Cornwall
There is nothing we don’t like the people that own it are great the rooms a lovely and clean the food is nice and there’s lots of it and the staff can’t do enough for you
Friendly welcome from staff and patrons. Lostwithiel is an untouristy (in the off season at least) but interesting town. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was very nice. The Royal Oak is truly dog friendly with no charge. A great place to stop on our way down into Cornwall.
Lostwithiel feels a bit run down and the entrance to the Royal Oak car park is cramped. We were a bit anxious when we arrived but the welcome and the comfortable room soon reassured us.
Dog friendly
We had booked two nights The food wasn’t that good. Karaoke that evening and our room was over it. We were not told on booking that this would be happening. It was loud and very noisy till after midnight. We checked out the next morning Noisy.
Welcoming and friendly
Staff and food
Didn't know they had live music, so loud, after a long drive, needed rest. Shame it spoilt a pleasant stay.
Good food ,nice clean and comfy rooms ,big beds and quiet , breakfast amazing poached eggs and evening meal was delicious.
The staff where excellent, as was the food , the breakfast was amazing The room was well laid out with plenty of room to move about
The only down side was a couple of loose accessories in the en-suite
Easy to find, good parking and great location for the town centre and surrounding attractions.
Fabulous christmass meal for our walking group we found the venue warm and inviting food excellent and good value.in the mortal word of terminator (I will be back).
Came here for our walking group's Christmas meal. Wow, what a delight. The room where we were seated was beautifully decorated and the table was dressed for the occasion. 16 of us so they'd pushed tables together to make one long banquet style table. And what a banquet it was. We had all pre ordered our food beforehand to help the kitchen so everything came out piping hot and flawlessly. The staff were attentive, friendly and polite throughout. We all left felling full, not just full tummies but full of festive cheer.
My wife and I stayed overnight. This is an old building which the owners have turned into an attractive, slightly quirky destination. The staff and owners are welcoming and give personalized attention. As soon as we checked in, we had to duck out for a lecture elsewhere in historic Lostwithiel. The staff cheerfully laid on excellent sandwiches for us on our late return. An excellent breakfast was served by one of the owners. We were sorry that we had missed the evening meal. I feel this would be an excellent base during the summer holiday season.
Free to park car here and walk anywhere in town. Very convenient. Live music at weekends. Large Cornish portions of food!
Slightly chilly in bedroom on one day when temperatures were zero and snow overnight, but not a big problem!
Wonderful breakfast, and enough to keep you going all day . No need for lunch. Bedroom as expected as we had stayed in same room a few years ago. Bed exceptionally comfortable. Staff very pleasant and helpful.
We liked everything.
Loved the place, made to feel very welcome. Proper Job
The way booking.com took deposit from a totally unknown company which appeared on my debit card thinking i had been scammed and causing unneeded worry and time investigating. Landlord was very reassuring but any deposit paid should clearly state. DEPOSIT FOR THE HOTEL YOU ARE STAYING IN. Not some unknown name taking money from your account. HOTEL GETS 5 STARS. booking .com .1 star.
Staff very friendly.
Lovely room
Really lovely and comfortable
Location, great pub, food faultless, room spacious and well appointed
All good, minor problem with the TV which was resolved for me
Friendliness Beautiful old building
Scores speak for themselves
It has amazing food and the room was excellent

location
TV did not offer expected range of programming... Breakfast options were limited
Not much
The car park was horrendous
Graham is an excellent host supported by a great, friendly team. He went out of his way to ensure we had a memorable stay in the Royal Oak. After having our first delicious meal in the pub restaurant we ended up eating there every evening of our visit choosing from a very diverse menu. Breakfasts were wonderful & Graham's legendary porridge is not to be missed
convenience for town centre
This is a well-run pub, popular with locals. Breakfasts are very good and evening meals are available every day. The bed was very comfortable.
Lovely spacious clean room pleasant friendly staff together with a great atmosphere in the public areas

Location
Very weak wifi in room, mostly not at all. Breakfast only ok. High price for one night’s stay.
Good bed
Needed redecorating - looked rather tired
Very friendly and helpful staff. Located in a good area. Nice size rooms with everything you needed for a nights stay.
Afternoon tea - it was ok. I was expecting a really nice Cornish scone but it was clearly all shop bought from supermarket. Bit disappointed. It was bought from a buy a gift voucher and I had to upgrade it to this. The dining room we had it in was nice and cosy.
Near to our friends who live in Loswithial
Creeking floorboards
Le personnel extrêmement sympathique L’ambiance « pub anglais » chaleureuse Excellents et copieux petit déjeuner et dîner Chambre spacieuse Idéalement situé pour visiter Polperro, Fowey et les lost gardens of Heligan
Rien
Room, bathroom, dinner and breakfast.
We parked our car in front the hotel, (reserved place for guests). Some weeks after, we receveid a fine because we didn't enter our car registration number when checking in. At the reception desk nobody asked us about our car or provided any information on the parking spaces. We wrote to the hotel asking to have the fine deleted, but they didn't help us.
Bed was comfortable, room was clear. Food was great.
Great little pub close to everything and very friendly staff
Nothing
All staff were friendly and helpful, a traditional Cornish pub great food big choice on the menu and the breakfast was just right .
Some noise from an event going on but all quiet by midnight!
It was a really nice place to stay. Food was lovely and our rooms really nice.
The only gripe i had was that the toilet seat was broken and it could have been a little cleaner.
We didn't stay here but had a couple of meals which I have to say were excellent. The Oak has a lovely outdoor seating area and friendly atmosphere. My review is about a member of staff who was very nice and chatty at the Oak. But we overheard her in another local pub badmouthing the hotel that we were staying in. The comment that was made was to another guest whom I knew was staying at our hotel, it was regarding "their cooked breakfast". Now we had no issues whatsoever at our hotel BUT I find that hearing what she said was awful, surely all local businesses should be supporting each other now matter what they serve you for breakfast and whether they serve alcohol or not. Needless to say we did not return to the Oak for another meal. Maybe if the management of the Oak reads this they should advise their staff to be very wary of what/who they discuss and should keep their personal opinions to themselves
Breakfast and dinner were both very good here. The room was clean and comfortable with a modern and well-designed en-suite. Staff were warm, welcoming and helpful. A very pleasant stay overall.
Nice room Good food & generous portions Good location
Loud music which went on until 10.45pm which could be heard from our room!
Fantastic stay!!!! We stayed I night and had a beautiful big room. Shower was great, large tv, the bed was very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and chatty and as for the meal we had was fantastic. I had pan fried salmon with dwarf beans and capers, mashed potatoes and it was delicious. My husband had big Steak and Stilton pie, peas and mash potatoes, and enjoyed every bite too. The breakfast was again delicious, it consisted of fresh produce Haddock and poached eggs. Pot of tea . We shall definitely recommend this place to anyone because it was very enjoyable couldn’t fault it. If I could give the 10 stars I would have done. Thank you Leanne not forgetting Graham for the lovely cooked Haddock and if I remember rightly Lauren who was great serving with a smile always. Xxx
Good food in evening, lovely choice for breakfast and quality and owners lovely. Managed to get parked on grounds for free and lovely flowery garden to sit in
Bed very very small and room very very hot even with window open/fan on. Bathroom ceiling mouldy. Bedding and pillows feather, very scratchy quills and zip on duvet and bed uncomfy, didnt sleep well
Charming old building with lots of character, and very friendly staff. Breakfast was delicious, we hope to return and have dinner too in future!
Nothing - all was great!
