Excellent breakfast and breakfast room
Open the restaurant in the evening rather than going next door to eat.
Lovely rooms, very well appointed and great breakfast
My window was jammed open and couldn’t be shut, bolt jammed. I rang reception bell five times around 8pm to no response. Had to stuff gap with towels to keep out coolair and traffic. This was a shame as a lovely old building but at huge cost for one night for two rooms (absolutely nowhere to be had this week on coast) this was a let down.
Pleasant hotel on the edge of town and opposite the castle.Comfy beds, good shower in large room.Good breakfast inc. Craister kippers.
All good.
Amazing breakfast and location. Very basic stay but good value for money
Nice setting, staff were good.
Prices and poor workman ship in the bathroom
Cosy. Great location, close to village amenities and castle and plenty of parking. Good choice of pub/restaurants. Helpful staff. Nice choice of breakfast. Well cooked meals.
No lock on back of room door, nor a do not disturb sign. Wonky sink hot tap spashed water everywhere and extractor not working. Difficulty opening window. All these problems can be easily fixed. Issue with plug sockets all with middle bed of 3 but we worked around it.
Breakfast was good and copious
The staircarpet was very grubby, Only one chair in our room Toilet very weak flush Room had no aeration, overnight the window was steamed up. The bed squeaked on the right hand side. Water pressure was feeble. Otherwise good
Great location, lovely pub next door, great breakfast and comfy beds
Family room was a little snug for 3
Beautiful room, excellent location and view. Very good food and great service.
WiFi not good in the bedrooms
The food was good
The rooms were very poor was put into room 15 which had no shower and bed was uncomfortable and was on top floor with no internet connection The other room we booked room 4 was very small and no internet Breakfast was very good and staff were very good but you had to go out main door to have evening meal which was good but location was in the bar
The hotel was in a brilliant location for the beautiful castle opposite. The food in the pub and breakfast was good and the young barman there for the night of the quiz was excellent.
The hotel was very tired and needed a good makeover. Under our bed was filthy, the curtains were about to fall down, there was no hot water it came out in dribbles! Just don’t go. The staff were miserable, very unhelpful, no smiles at all, apart from the young barman on the quiz night.
Breakfast was good Bed comfy
Pub closed early
Great pub with good food and service Friendly and helpful staff that went the extra mile for us
Mattresses not great
In a great location
The wifi didn’t work at all. The rooms were barely clean. A layer of dust on all surfaces and horrible non laundered throws on the bed. One poor guy seemed to be doing all the jobs with no help.
Location was great.
Room needs a deep clean. Light shade, skirting boards, shower etc really dirty.
Room and breakfast
overpriced food and drink in bar compared to other pubs in town
Welcoming staff, great pub next door, great breakfast
location
staff couldnt care less. cleanliness is dreadful. breakfast inedible.
Great location, lovely bar.
Bit dated, drain smell in the room
Good location, right opposite Warkworth Castle & handy for exploring the coast. Friendly staff & nice food. Good breakfast & had a nice supper in the bar & enjoyed the quiz. Comfy bed & a good sized room which needs updating & a deep clean, then it would be great!
Entering the hotel we opened the grubby doors into a small reception area. This old place could do with a big refresh & deep clean. Quite dusty, especially when looking for a socket to plug in my phone charger. Dusty skirting boards & big heavy curtains that didn’t close well, one was hanging off the fitting. We were given the Secret Room, a large dusty room apparently used as the bridal suite! Everything was gold, the bed, furniture & huge throne like chairs. There was also a free standing bath which was right in front of a large window, so unless you could get the huge curtains to close, you’d have to be an exhibitionists to have a bath! The tv was on the wrong wall, there was nowhere comfortable to sit to watch it. I’d take out the free standing bath & move the ‘thrones’ to the other side of the room to watch the tv, or move the tv to the bathroom wall. Shower room also dusty, wobbly hot tap & the shower door was broken at the bottom. Very difficult to turn the shower on & off as knob was faulty. This was all communicated to the staff on our departure.
Interesting, old building/inn next to Warkworth Castle. Great breakfast room with good breakfast e.g. Craster kippers. Plentiful free parking.
Requires some updating e.g. carpets, toilet seat, paintwork. Beds were variable.
Wanted to stay somewhere for one night after visiting nearby Cragside.Met by friendly Reception staff who was also running the very busy bar next door(Newcastle were playing at home so very busy)The room was clean and comfortable. We chose to eat at the pub next door when it quietened down and we had the Sunday roast beef served with freshly cooked vegetables which was delicious. The breakfast again was served by friendly staff and excellent.Visited nearby Amble and had a walk along the beach which is stunning.
Yes the hotel is showing signs of in need of a refurb but we didn’t let that put us off.
De locatie is prachtig met een kasteel tegenover en een pub ernaast. Heerlijk ontbijt.
Nice room, lovely food, great location right opposite the Castle. Would recommend to family and friends.
The shower was a bit slow and could do with another shelf in the bathroom and only one hook on the back of the door to hang one towel. Hard to open the bedroom window. Bolt was there, but handle was missing.
Very friendly staff and excellent location
My room and bathroom were not clean. Everything was dusty, very tired looking, bathroom floor was dirty and sticky. Carpet in the room and communal areas was very dirty. Generally there was a weird smell in the hotel, like old cooking oil. Some kind of loud generator outside could be heard during the night even through closed windows. With some proper care and attention and a deep clean this place could be a million times better.
Breakfast excellent
TV not working - bar man sent to fix it- he said ‘I haven’t a clue’ No notification festival on directly & noisily outside bedroom windows Curtain hanging off rail at end
Lovely old building, breakfast room was really grand, staff all friendly, great location right next to the castle, good shower, great that had free parking and we could leave our car during the day
Room wasn’t the cleanest, headboard thick with dust, was were the lights, bed was so uncomfortable, also need to invest in new pillows, room so small, especially when staying with two dogs. toilet would barely flush, breakfast was ok, maybe expected too much
Some staff were pleasant & very helpful
Toilet in room had not been cleaned. Had to ask for more towels as only enough for one person. Cooked breakfast was mainly cold when it arrived.
Location
Old, dinghy, no fans (or AC) noisy, and family room was tiny
Location . Quality of bathroom towels
Out of date furniture . Room needed dusting. Serious dusting of blinds.Carpet in public areas was very dirty.
We had a family room/ triple room. The decor was nice. The property had many original features. The staff were helpful, they allowed us to park there before check in. The food was great.
The beds were uncomfortable.
Good location for stopover on my way home from completing the SC2C bike ride. Excellent dinner and breakfast. Very good cycle storage.
The single room was a bit tight for sorting all my gear - but managed ok.
Breakfast
N/a
Verry friendly staff, good breakfasts
Good location near the river and great castle views.
Small room with no view.
Location and had a single room.
Nothing
Location and friendly staff
Television on the wall was hanging off and had no channels whatsoever. WiFi was also pretty much nonexistent
The building is really nice with some real quirky art, and the staff are hard working and lovely, and the breakfast was fab, hats off to the chef , very comfortable bed
The view and the hospitality was superb
A chair in the room also a mirror like the ones that light up in the downstairs toilets would be brilliant
It was not clean. Bathroom was cleaned by ourselves as it was dirty. Dust on every surface. Carpet dirty and needed vacuuming. The windows were thick with flaking and chipped paint and had bird faeces were visible on paint when opened. The bathroom flooded with leaks at one point. Tv broken. Bathroom sink stopper jammed closed.
Breakfast was very poor, bacon 🥓 half raw, one sausage, half a tomato one piece of Black pudding and three mushrooms Not what I would call a full b/fast for a 6ft 2in man, coffee was only luke warm,no drinking water and fruit ran out so it was first come, first served not a pleasant way to start you day.,
Room could do with a Dam Good deep clean dust everywhere, bedroom lamps , TV screen, dressing table etc sticky from people's drinks, carpets not hoovered properly ,en suite sink all cracked, shower door dirty,no non slip mat in it or a grab rail if you slipped.
Great location near the castle.
Good cafe now as part of the hotel. Also has a bar, the food is decent but a little pricey.
Great location, near the beach
Location, friendliness
Cleanliness, wifi
Location and in keeping with the castle theme food was ok staff were friendly
Not very clean breakfast wasn’t nice and no one on site at night key pad wasn’t working well
Food and helpfullness
Small room
We stayed in room 12 on the 2nd floor and it was immaculate. I believe it was recently refurbished. The breakfast was excellent. Lots of choice and good service in a traditionally decorated room.
The fact there was no lift could be a problem for some people but it wasn’t for us (aged 77 and 79). The food in the adjoining Castle Brew House was quite poor.
location, staff and their hospitality
TV in room and shower didn't work. TV couldn't be fixed during the entire stay
Position was amazing, breakfst lobely
Mattress definitely needs replacing, vety uncomfortable. Very unpleasantly smell in the room, worked it was comimg from from the shower waste plughole.
Good location food in the pub was excellent, and breakfast in the hotel , staff really nice and very helpful
Bit dated could do with modernisation
Staff are brill, food very good ,pub very good
Lumpy mattress, dated interior (needs a refesh) drainage rod's behind front door why?
The staff were friendly, rooms were clean and comfortable. The views were outstanding and the food was amazing. Fish and chips were fresh and the steak and ale pie with the mash made my mouth water. !
It was a little cold during the night... close the windows! Unsure Nothing i can really fault here, I would have liked breakfast to start from 6.30am but all in all, I would definitely stay here again and plan to. Unsure on the mattresses, I was a little uncomfortable but had been driving for 5h so could have been me
Room was comfortable and spacious and although at the front of the hotel, the traffic and outside bar area chatter were not noticeable when we retired for the evening even with the window open. The room was modern and clean and had everything we needed. Evening meal at the adjacent pub was fresh, tasty and a generous size. Plenty of parking at the hotel which was a bonus. Good location for walking in the area and visiting Warkworth Castle.
The reception area was only covered part of the time, the thick carpeting from reception to the room looked as if it needed a deep clean. Evening meals were at the attached pub which could not be booked at reception but direct with the pub itself. Oddly we could not order more than one course at a time and had to pay for each course individually. Breakfast was in the hotel but no staff to greet you and indicate where you could sit - the table had numbers but these did not relate to your room number which was confusing until a member of staff did appear and explain. There was ample food provided from cereals to a cooked option which we did not choose but we had plenty to satisfy us.
The location was central. Lots of parking spaces. There were several options for a cooked breakfast.
Quite an indifferent welcome when we arrived. More fruit options at breakfast would have been appreciated. Last orders for food in the bar was 7.45pm, which seemed early but this was the case in other local places. The WiFi was patchy.
Breakfast was ok, as expected.
No tv in room, restricted to Audio only.
Location, breakfast
No proper shower in our room
Old , beautifully kept, clean and excellent breakfast
Everything
Location, but no atmosphere
Breakfast over cooked poor if I am honest and should of sent it back
The staff were very friendly & helpful.
The beds were very comfortable and the bed linen clean and fresh. The breakfasts were excellent with a good choice of local produce.
Unfortunately the bedroom was not clean. There were cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, the bedside tables needed wiping before we could use them and the carpet needed hoovering. The bathroom had more cobwebs, the hot tap was lose in its socket so turned, and leaked, each time it was used. The glass shelf beside the basin, was at an angle, that caused items to slide off the shelf.
Loved the location staff were lovely
I was not impressed with the decor thought the who place needed up dating as the rooms and corridors looked very old and need refreshed
Great location for visiting the surrounding area.
Nothing
We had dinner here the evening we arrived and it was very good. Location was very good for us as was on the Northumberland Coast Path right near the castle
Nothing, I can remember.
Good location and nice views from the rooms. Breakfast included and made to order. Shower ensuite with included toiletries. Clean bedding. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The meal in the pub was outstanding.
WiFi wasn't great and neither was the TV reception. Bathrooms could have been cleaner - there was a noticeable crack in the sink of room 8, and mould around both shower doors. The mattresses were too firm. The carpark is on an incline which I imagine is difficult to drive out of in the winter.
The food was good. Good breakfast and we had dinner in the restaurant which was also very good. The room was satisfactory, bed was clean, furnishings a little dated, bathroom was adequate, we stayed in room 11. Check in was good, he was friendly and welcoming. The young waitress we had for dinner was excellent, very friendly and helpful. Good location for exploring Warkworth Castle and the Hermitage.
The entrance to the hotel (front door and reception area) is scruffy, tired and very unappealing. The other member of staff (serving breakfast) wasn't very friendly or welcoming, a bit curt. Didn't give the best customer experience.
Great location to stay for me doing Trek26 Northumberland
Breakfast was very good.
The bed mattress needs a "birthday" in the near future
Location
Out of date and tired
Great location and nice staff but we were kept awake by a party in the next door room.
The noise and rubbish WiFi - none in the room at all and rest very sporadic.
Good location in a beautiful neighbourhood, historic one. We travelled by bike and it was a nice stop. The breakfast was quite good too.
The bed (single) was not very comfortable. It was okay for one night, but not more.
Breakfast was fine for our purposes. Comfortable broom. It served its purpose as a bolt hole on the Northumberland Coast path.
Nothing really for our purposes!
Really liked Warkworth.
Shower in hotel very poor, little water and achieving a temperature that didn't scald or freeze was a science. Despite saying room service was between 10 and 12 if room was accessible and despite us being out before 10 and away all day, we didn't get the room serviced. We were not made to feel welcome either at reception, at breakfast or during any interaction with staff. The pub announced last orders at 9.30 and despite their being few drinkers there they couldn't wait to be shot of us all.
Location
A lot of Dirty marks on doors and walls
Great location with parking Nice room with good facilities Great choice at breakfast
Some of the staff at breakfast were very rushed and made us feel like we were an inconvenience More staff needed for a full dining room
Staff friendly and helpful, beds comfortable, location ideal for visting Warkworth Castle. Bar food very tasty.
Breakfast had limited choice and felt rushed.
Good location
Property is run down and in need of tlc. Uncomfortable old beds. Very disappointing and a poor selection of this wonderful area.
Breakfast was very good value,
Bedroom was on the small side and showed signs of needing a deeper clean.
Location Breakfast
Decor etc dated
The location right opposite the castle with a great view from the bedroom window.
Dated & tired decor. The staff at breakfast were not at all friendly and the service was slow.
Comfortable bed
Location. The food in the attached pub.
Scaffolding outside bedroom window. Lumpy bed. Very "tired" decor. Reception area very unwelcoming
Warkworth Castle is right across from hotel. Lovely bar next door to hotel wth nice beer garden and Castle views. Good choice at breakfast, traditional english, eggs on toast, kippers, cereal etc.. staff were friendly and helpful, bus route to north and south locations if needed. Car park always good. Food was really good too.
last orders at bar was 9.30pm except for England football game which was a little disappointing.Shelf not big enough in bathroom for toileteries really and managing shower temperature control a bit tricky also. Not much really to do if weather is bad which it was'nt for us. Would stay again though so nothing that can be off putting.
Beautiful old building. Room was lovely with a gorgeous view. Dining room was impressive, and the breakfast was fab.
Nothing.
The room was very stuffy and dark! There was no light at either mirror for putting your makeup on. The bathroom wasn’t that clean in bits & there was lots of dust in the room. Breakfast was ok but each day there was 1 person serving and they weren’t very happy or overly friendly. We actually were stuck to the table on 2nd morning with our napkin ripping as we tried to use it! Tries to get more orange juice but it was gone. Stayed hear a few years ago and it had certainly gone downhill. Wouldn’t come back.
The main light was very poor if you wanted a decent light
Windows would not stay open unless propped open with a cup the frames were in very poor order
Position. Had a corner room had 3 windows and a lovely view of the river would have had a view of castle but big tree in way ( but nice old tree )
A little tired in place, carpet a bit worn chipped paint in dinning room. But was all clean
Warm welcome from Zoe. Hotel and pub under same company and are undergoing upgrades so few issues but generally positively lovely place to stay. Great food, ideal position for local amenities, friendly hardworking staff, lots of free car parking.
Rooms a bit tired. Hotel was busy and staff were really worked hard ( several businesses in Warkworth similar as early season) Breakfast room next on list for refurbishment so understood it's issues but tables were well stocked and good delicious
Great location and tasty breakfast included .
No complaints.
Location was good
Hotel feels tired. Bathroom not great. Dining room dated, table felt sticky and not all the items on the menu were available eg selection of yogurts. Also not completely happy that there are no staff overnight
Breakfast was very good, excellent coffee and good menu and very pleasant staff.
The menu in the bar could be a little more imaginative, although the lamb's liver was lovely.
The hotel is in desperate need of renovation. The double bedroom was crazy, something out of The Munsters. That room was described as luxury - luxury to what? It was awful and the single room wasn't much larger than a walk in wardrobe. The dining room for breakfast was grubby and poorly maintained. The hotel needs painting, redecorating, new carpets, furniture etc. For what the hotel offers it's totally overpriced.
Location Bike storage Breakfast Room View of castle from room
Poor WiFi Don't take table bookings for dinner
Lovely stay. Great friendly staff. Lovely food. A great breakfast. Would recommend
