It was a beautiful property, such beautiful views and the stars were amazing! Farm fresh eggs were a plus too!

Everything was great, the only constructive criticism I would have is providing smaller single new serve packets for spreads, sauces, seasoning, ect. We didn’t use any of the food for breakfast provided as the thought of it being used by strangers (which could have done anything to them) felt unsanitary and unsafe.

We loved the view, we loved the location and being semi rural was a nice fresh air.

The spa as soon as the jets turn on, became a really cloudy dirty spa with quite alot of floating objects. The TV was a 19 in no channel TV. Could do with a upgrade to a smart TV.

Lovely facilities. Very friendly hosts and star gazing opportunity from the hot tub.

Did not realise that the rooms were in a house with bedrooms next to each other and we could hear people in the room next door.

The hostess, Jen, was lovely and ensured we had everything we wanted or needed. Very welcoming and made us feel completely at home. I would highly recommend staying at Te Mahuru. And I loved her dogs ❤️

There wasn't anything I didn't like

This place is really great. Although I missed the star gazing due to the cloudy weather, I enjoyed fantastic sunrise and sunset view there. The road infron of the property is so interesting, which connect snow-capped mountains at one end with the sea at the other. In this winter season, as the sun went back to the mountains, it leaves behind the most beautiful reddish-orange glow in the sky. Walking or driving toward the sea in the early morning, you will enjoy the moment when the sun rises from the sea. The soft pink light stretching all the way to the white snow covering the mountain peaks. You will find true inner peace there

It was such a nice place to stay! We wish we could stay longer, one night was not enough. Our 4 year old enjoyed playing with toys available in the lounge. We enjoyed nice atmosphere. Breakfast was great with choices. We will definitely come back one day for a longer holiday.

Everything was great. Had a great sleep which was needed after long hours of driving. Jen the host was very accomodating also and we had great breakfast. It was also great because it was dog friendly. Me, my sister and our dog enjoyed the stayed. It was also nice to meet the 2 resident dogs. Which were very friendly Would deifinitely recommend staying there..

Breakfast was great. Self catered with fresh eggs supplied. Wonderful array of other breakfast food.location just five mins drive from town suited us.

It really is a retreat! Fabulous to get away & just chill. Beautiful scenery, super comfy bed, great facilities - loved the hot tub!

The only criticism I could think was a little bit of road noise which can’t be helped! I had to think hard to come up with something!

Absolutely every things since i enter the reception and i read the sign of my name and the instructions of going my cottage I smile without knowing there is camera ☺️.. we feel that we are alone in the hotel ,the facilities were amazing, we live in a quiet peace for one night we hope we come again for more time🙏 Thank you jen and all the thanks to your family it was my pleasure to spend a night in your lovely house. The Retreat was incredible, only a few minutes outside of town, but it felt like the middle of nowhere. The stargazing was unlike anything any of us had ever experienced, the hot tub was incredible, and breakfast was delicious! Our only regret is only staying one day!

Great place to stay. My go to for every road trip now. Much better than a noisy roadside motel for about the same money. Jen is amazing, breakfast awesome, and the hot tub is perfect at the end of a long drive. Highly recommended.

We paid for breakfast but not enough food we used booking .com to book stay and it say buffet breakfast included . We came to know when we received email next day our breakfast will be in Bambo box .

Beautiful place and so relaxing

The outdoor spaces are beautiful. Lots of interesting information about the property and places to go. The hot tub was amazing and we had a beautiful clear night to watch the night skies. Clean comfortable cottage. There was a ripped hammock and when I pointed it out ( I didn’t want then thinking we were to blame ) they changed it immediately

Couldn’t contact the owners on the ring bell system, but when we did speak to them they were lovely and helpful.

Private cottage, stunning views and grounds, quiet, welcoming staff and dog friendly

I booked the property very last minute. We arrived in the dark to find the cottage with all the lights on and the heat pump going. It was very warm and cosy inside.

The area was very quite and the accommodation were beautiful, comfortable, clean and well presented.

Staff were fantastic, friendly and very quick to respond! Beautiful scenery and a magical hot tub with a view!! Cottage was great!!

Le confort et le charme de l'endroit, ainsi que la vue magnifique sur le mont Fyffe. Le cottage est très spacieux et un peu à l'écart par rapport aux autres logements - l'endroit est très calme. Le hot tub en soirée pour observer les étoiles était très agréable. Le fait aussi de pouvoir disposer d'un lave-linge et d'un séchoir pour faire la lessive Nous avons apprécié aussi les efforts des propriétaires pour trier et recycler les déchets - un bon geste pour la planète

Au niveau de l'équipement pour la cuisine : un essuie-vaisselle et une lavette auraient été appréciés pour essuyer la vaisselle (au lieu de la laisser sécher sur un égouttoir) et nettoyer la table après les repas.

Amazing location. Sitting in a hot tub under the Milky Way was a truly wonderful experience. The host Kelly prepares her own jams to go with newly baked bread for breakfast. Rooms were great, warm, clean. Pity we could only stay one night.

Breakfast in the dining area was simple and delicious - made bread that was home cooked that day and eggs that were laid on site! Super delicious!

What a place and what a scenery.

No one greeted us and we were left to find our room which was part of the main house. People were sitting outside our window so not very private. More of a B&B

Despite the rainy and windy weather, our host Jen made sure we still enjoyed our two-night stay. The hot pools were perfect for relaxing in the evening, and Jen’s trail recommendations were much appreciated. The beds were comfortable, and while the two-bedroom suite is a bit small, it’s very clean and cozy. The shared kitchen is well equipped, and the living room is inviting, with books and games available. Breakfast is homemade, featuring warm bread and a great selection of jams.

Some other guests did not clean up the kitchen, leaving it messy for us to use. The room was also a bit small for a family of four with large suitcases.

A real accommodating host. Just like a personal visit.

There was a full moon so the stars were not as clear as on a dark night.

Te Mahuru is beautiful retreat in the countryside. We loved the shared lounge where people can hangout, play games and have a chat.

This was our first time staying at a B&B with children, and we were pleasantly surprised by how family-friendly it was. There were so many thoughtful touches for kids, including a playground in the yard, board games for all ages, train tracks, and even a high chair. The kitchen was very well equipped, and the dining area was a great space, we enjoyed spending time there playing games as a family. The location is absolutely spectacular. The mountains right across the road made it one of the most idyllic places we’ve stayed (rivalled only by Switzerland for me). Having access to laundry facilities was fantastic as a parent, and the clear time guidelines (finishing by 9pm) were really considerate for all guests. We stayed in the two-bedroom suite, which was a bit tight but perfectly adequate for a one-night stay. We were warmly greeted on arrival, and check-in for us was smooth and easy. Overall, we would definitely return just for the view alone and will be recommending it to friends.

Another family arrived late (around 9pm) and seemed to have difficulty finding their accommodation because of where our room was located, we could hear them driving up and down the driveway and trying to figure things out. They ended up knocking on our door for assistance with check-in, I did point them to the board with the host contact but English was not their first language so had some trouble getting across that I didnt live/work here. While they were very lovely we weren’t expecting to step in and help guide other guests during our stay especially in my pyjamas. 😅 There may be an opportunity to improve the check-in process, particularly for guests who may not be fluent in English, to make directions and instructions clearer and more accessible.

It was close to town ,had a beautiful view and great amenities. In a spacious setting Cabin was spacious and clean. Seperate bedroom. Easy check in and check out
