The public bath was lovely (500 yen per use) and it was in a good location. The breakfasts were nice, but it got pricey buying a whole families worth each day. The staff were nice. They did upgrade us after we realised the rooms were quick small and we had 2 young children (one very energetic) which was very kind. Vending machine in the lobby is good, but limited choice and water ran out quickly and took a bit of time to be restocked.

The laundry situation was problematic, it cost 500 yen to do laundry, regardless of if you did it yourself or the staff did it for you. One machine for the whole hotel. I ended up just going down the road to a laundromat. I also found the futons quite uncomfortable and needed extra padding. Getting on and off the floor was a little irritating - but I suppose thats the experience I paid for! Only a small table, kettle, and small fridge in the room. I also found the tatami mats got kind of... smelly? It was distracting when I was trying to sleep for sure. I also booked for 2 adults and 2 children (4 and baby), they gave us 2 futons and a baby futon. They apparently dont count my son as a person who should get his own bed. We asked for an extra futon for him but we're told it would be 3500 yen per night for an extra futon - we did it for one night then gave it back. And lastly, the Japanese "activities" are sporadically planned and change weekly. The entire week we were there there was only 1 session for the Calligraphy, no problem - we book it. We go to attend that morning and they inform us its actually not happening anymore.

It was amazing. Such a peaceful base to explore and enjoy Tokyo. The facilities are fantastic, breakfast was delicious and the rooms are beautiful. Will definitely be back next time I’m in Tokyo.

Very nice helpful staff and a very good breakfast. They even have a little private hot tub bath. The rooms were clean and comfortable.

Unfortunately the tea ceremony and calligraphy lessons were not available on the week of our stay, but we were busy with sightseeing anyways. Overall a very nice experience.

The location is perfect, quite, and cery close to major connection to International airport, as well as the beautiful Ueno Park with its museums

The Lobby is a bit dark but it is a minor detail. Also the type of yellowish lights in the room don't give the right beauty to the rooms which are instead very nice

This is a wonderful gem of a place to stay. A great location - ideally placed for visiting Ueno Park and its museums, zoo and lake whilst also a good restful base for visiting other attractions. However, it’s the wonderful staff that make it special. One lady escorted us to a lovely local restaurant tucked away down an alley. Also, lots of special touches like kimono style pyjamas, slippers, mirror, umbrellas to go , optional classes like tea ceremony or calligraphy.

The beds were super comfy

Personal muy amable y de gran ayuda. Las sesiones de caligrafía japonesa y ceremonia del té fuero una gran sorpresa. Habitación grande al estilo tradicional muy bonita y cómoda. Parada de metro y konbini a un par de calles.

De locatie was geweldig, midden in de stad, op loop afstand van Uenopark. Het gebouw was sfeervol en heel goed ontworpen. De kamers en badkamers waren niet groot maar zeer efficiënt en prettig(!) ingericht. Duidelijk ontworpen met gevoel voor verhoudingen. Het personeel was heel vriendelijk en zette s'avonds laat nog thee voor ons. Alles was heel erg schoon. We komen hier terug.

A very well-maintained ryokan with friendly, helpful staff who were very accommodating to our needs. The traditional breakfast was very good. You can forward your luggage to and from the ryokan. The rooms are bigger than expected!

The location is not the most convenient depending on what you do in Tokyo. While there are two train stations nearby, you do need to walk, and certain attractions can be up to an hour away by train. It is also a little pricey for what they offer but for a ryokan, the price was expected.

Excellent staff, room and amenities. Very close to Ueno station. Although it is not a 100% authentic Ryokan, it is great being able to stay in a place lile this in the middle of Tokio.

Japanischer Stil, Personal sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit

Die Unterkunft wirkte auf uns sehr runtergekommen. Der Geruch war sehr unangenehm, zum Glück war es nachts durch den Regel kühl so konnte man mit offenen Fenster schlafen sonst hätten wir ein anderes Hotel genommen. Klimaanlage riecht sehr schimmelig.

The staff is amazing

Joli petit Ryokan situé dans un quartier calme de Tokyo, mais à proximité des arrêts de bus (moins de 10 minutes) et de métro (15 minutes). Literie confortable pour la chambre "western style", futons un peu fins pour la chambre "traditionnelle" mais sur demande ils en fournissent un 2e poir que ce soit plus épais. Chambres de taille correctes pour Tokyo. Salles de bain de type "cabine tout plastique" sans charme, mais propre.

A charming stay in a traditional Japanese-style accommodation. The location was also very convenient, being very close to the metro station, which made it easy to get around the entire city.

We chose the breakfast option, but it really wasn’t worth it. In fact, on the following days, we decided not to have breakfast there. The price isn’t worth it, and the amount of food is barely sufficient. We chose the private bath service. The price is fair for what it offers, although the room is a bit claustrophobic. Because of the heat from the water, it becomes uncomfortably hot, especially since the room is quite small. In the end, we had to leave before our allotted time was up because it was simply too hot.

L’accueil très sympathique y compris en français. Les très bons petits déjeuner. L’emplacement assez proche du métro et du parc Ueno. La propreté exemplaire et l’entretien parfait.

The Edo Sakura is a lovely place, full of peace, charm and Japanese delicacy. The rooms are small, as you might expect in Tokyo, but very comfortable and thoughtfully designed. The staff were impeccable throughout our stay: welcoming, attentive and genuinely kind. Breakfast was excellent, and we also loved the little touches that make the experience feel special, such as having yukata available to wear during our stay. The location is very convenient, with a metro station just a short walk away, while the hotel itself remains wonderfully quiet and peaceful. A beautiful introduction to Japanese hospitality and a place we would happily recommend.

Piękny hotelik z miłą i bardzo pomocną obsługą. Czuliśmy się tam bardzo dobrze. Świetna lokalizacja - sam hotel w bardzo cichym zaułku ale niedaleko od metra i przystanku autobusowego. Czystość na najwyższym poziomie, śniadanie pyszne. Polecamy gorąco.

Amazing staff who were very helpful throughout our stay. The rooms were beautiful and clean. The private bath was both rejuvenating and relaxing - I'd recommend everyone that stays here to make use of it. The location was quiet and peaceful. Very close to two train stations.

L'expérience Ryokan est un succès, le futon est à même le sol, pas le plus confortable mais c'est une expérience authentique. Tout l'établissement respire le japon d'autrefois. C'est beau, c'est propre. Le petit déjeuner est excellent. Mention spéciale au personnel de l'hôtel, des gens adorables.

Place is hidden away from busy streets. There is plenty convenient stores near by. We have a good rest there after our journey from UK.

Walk to train the nearest train station is about 15min with the luggage, but we knew this before booking so we are generally happy about this place.

C’était la toutes première fois que nous dormions sur futon et ca c'est très bien passe. L’établissement dans un esprit de ryokan a du charme, la chambre est petite et plaisante couverte de tatamis. Quartier très calme. Le personnel est disponible, aux petits soins et très gentil. Nous avons pu profiter d'un cours de calligraphie donné dans l’hôtel.

Le personnel était adorable. La décoration, le style japonais permettent vraiment une belle immersion. La chambre ne m’a pas paru trop petite.

C’est très personnel mais j’avais mal au dos donc le lit futon c’était une belle expérience mais pas la plus confortable. Le personnel m’a fourni un second matelas, ce qui était beaucoup mieux.

The Staff there are great! Likeable, kind. We had just come from an Arima onsen hotel, and were spoiled by the spaciousness there. Despite having a small room for 3 people, we ended up enjoying some good sleep on our double futons, and having a safe, "home base" to return to each day. Good water pressure in the shower stall, hot water came out easily. Convenient stores are not too far away, at all - easy to get snacks or a quick breakfast there.

TV was on floor (hard for all of us to view at the same time), beside fridge. Fridge kept freezing the items we placed inside, even though we asked staff to look into the fridge. Most of the other people staying there were non-Japanese. Lots of English being used, which will suit many out there, but I was back in Japan to further my Japanese. I wished it felt more Japanese to be there. If I had started our trip to Japan, I think that would have been a better fit for this place.

Nous avons apprécié les bains chaud le soir après nos longues journées de visites! Nous n'hésiterons pas à revenir !

La ubicación es increíble, es mi tercera vez en el hotel y la ubicación me parece el punto más fuerte del hotel, en el centro del barrio de Asakusa y muy cerca de 2 estaciones de metro. Los trabajadores son muy amables y serviciales, siempre dispuestos a ayudarte.

Diría que el punto más flojo es la variedad del desayuno.

We slept in the traditional room (on a futton). It was not super comfortable at first, but you can ask to get extra ones, so in the end we slept really well. Rooms are not very big but enough to rest. The location is very good to either walk to some places or catch the train. Breakfast was quite nice. Staff was nice and helpful. Everything was very clean. There are umbrellas at the door to borrow when you go out and return when you come back. There is laundry service at a very good price.

Le personnel était tellement chaleureux et bienveillant ! On s'est senti privilégiés :) Dormir sur des futons était une belle expérience (on a demandé pour en ajouter), les pyjamas prêtés par l'hôtel était un +. Petits déjeuners sympas. On a privatisé le bain et c'était un moment hors du temps. Bref tout était super. Il y a un bus a proximité qui nous a emmené partout !

We had a traditional Japanese room The beds were very comfortable. The extra services available wete excellent. Staff ate friendly and the atmosphere was like staying a family home.

The futon was a little thin for me and I needed to ask for another one, which was no problem. My other family members were quite comfortable with the single futon.

El personal del hotel es sumamente amable y respetuoso con ganas de solucionar cada problema y explicar todo las veces que haga falta. Elegimos la habitación tradicional, e intentamos dormir en futones y tras ver que era demasiado duro pedimos un segundo futón y nos lo trajeron sin problemas. Usamos el servicio de lavanderia, 1500Y por lavar, secar y doblar. Excepcional.

Ze hadden (tegen betaling) wat leuke extra dingen, zoals een privé onsen en een Japanse kalligrafieworkshop. Dat gaf wel echt meerwaarde. Verder: heel klantvriendelijk, servicegericht, toplocatie, vegan gyozatentje in de buurt is een dikke aanrader (ook voor non-vegans).

J’ai vraiment détesté le fait qu’il n’y avait pas de toilettes japonaises de type washlets dans la chambre, j’ai fais la remarque au personnel qui m’a assuré que s’était normal…. Il s’agissait de mon second voyage au Japon et s’était la première fois que ça m’arrivait. Après mon premier voyage j’ai adopté les toilettes japonaises chez moi, je n’ai donc pas l’habitude du manque d’hygiène. C’est vraiment dommage!

War eine super Erfahrung und wir hatten keine Probleme mit den Futons. Zwei von drei von uns haben aber auch nach extra Futons gefragt und die wurden uns direkt bereite gestellt. Die Klima hat uns in den heißen Tage echt das Leben gerettet und wir haben sehr gern in unserem Zimmer auch einfach gechillt. Das Zimmer war auch mehr als passabel von der Größe, wenn man die futons zusammen geklappt hat. Das Personal war stets ansprechbar und super nett. Es war echt schön abends zu kommen begrüßt zu werden.

Der einzige was man kritisieren könnte wäre der kleine Fernsehen. Aber ganz ehrlich.. wer kommt auch nach Japan um fern zu schauen? Also nicht schlimm :-)

This was our second time here and it was an amazing stay once again. The staff is incredibly kind and helpful and the breakfast delicious. The neighborhood is quiet and residential, with a subway stop less than 10 minutes away on foot. I'm sure we'll be back.

I booked a non-western room to experience the tatami mat experience. More space for luggages, but bedding wasn't really for me. Location was excellent, close to multiple train lines. Staff is above, and beyond-they made the stay excellent

My only knock was the futon bedding. it's acutally my bad, since I booked this room for specifically this reason (to experience this). My back and creaky knees thought other wise. I'll book a western style room next time.

It was well situated and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The facilities were clean and well maintained and the breakfast was very tasty.

All the rooms smell strongly of sweet potato and the hotel itself is quite touristy.

While a little more hotel/hostel style ryokan, it was very nice and comfortable. Gave our niece the traditional Japanese experience we were looking for. Staff were all very friendly and helpful and the amenities were lovely.

If I had to say anything the mattresses were maybe a little thin (thinner than we have had before), but they did mention we could get something else if wanted.

Das EDO-Sakura ist ein Juwel. In einer ruhigen Seitenstraße gelegen, zeigt es seine Pracht im Inneren. Herausragende hilfreiche, aufmerksame und freundliche Mitarbeiter, handeln wie echte Freunde. Es macht Freude dort zu wohnen und dann nach Hause zur Familie zu kommen. Die Zimmer sind ruhig, sauber, exzellent und durchdacht ausgestattet.Mittlerweile sind im Haus auch Kalligraphiekurse möglich, auch das Frühstück sollte man sich gönnen, insbesondere das japanische Frühstück. Bonus : ein privates Onsen kann gegen einen Selbstkostenpreis angemietet werden.

Bei mehreren Personen ist eine Kofferablage eine Herausforderung. Im Onsen fehlen Kleider- und Handtuchhaken .

Great ryokan feel. Staff was kind and attentive. The breakfast set was amazing. Room was spacious and comfy.

Needed two mattresses as a side sleeper so I could sleep well.

What stands out is the staff and the location. Close to a metro station so you can be anywhere you want to be in Tokyo. The area is very quiet yet there are plenty of places to eat. The staff go out of their way to assist. They even booked dinner for us as we could not book it online. The breakfast is great value.

The Japanese rooms are small, too small for three people in my opinion. And I think that the beds could be a little thicker. You could basically feel the floor, something we did not have in other Japanese Inns.
