Great spot to stay for the night to break up the drive from Auckland to Wellington

Unfortunately the stay was spoilt by some exceptionally loud people in the room underneath our unit. The noise went on beyond reasonable until 1am or later in the early hours of the morning. This rather upset what was otherwise a very nice place to stay.

Lovely bed. Lounge furniture is tired. Pleasant enough.

The room was adequate for our needs. It was clean and we had the option to get it refreshed every day. On the whole it was a good choice of motel.

Hot tub is outside the room & could have been set warmer,no robes supplied for the hot tub unit which I think would be standard with the hot tub being outside of the room. Parking was at its best sub standard and had to carry our bags thru the lobby down two lots of stairs to our room.

The quality of this room is outstanding. The interior of the room was very pleasing. We really enjoyed the secure space and privacy, which was veey lovely to rest in while enjoying the beautiful view of the lake.

Very close to the lake

We only stayed one night so had a room that was cheaper than the rest. There was no table you could use to put cups or plates on. The bathroom was a bit tired.

Room was okay, but certainly needs a revamp. Fridge door fell off, shower water did not drain away, tv very small for size of room. Probably not revisit.

Beautiful property, perfect lake view spot, with spacious rooms and topped off with the amazing geothermal spa! Had the best stay here!

Communication was poor. Booked on wotif. Tried to extend booking, no answer for 0508 number on website and delay in response to email. No one seems to answer the phone for 07 number either. Finally got a hold of them at 8pm at night. Nice place to stay but lacks staff?

We were in a very large executive suite. It was clean and comfortable. The only issue was a very loose tap in the bathroom .

A great spot and clean & neat accommodation in Taupo. Highly recommended.

Love the Cove , this was our second time staying there. Definitely will be going back again.

Room was on small side even for a couple. “Kitchenette” had no sink ( only water in bathroom). Had to ask for dishwashing cloths. Cute little balcony but no light out there.

We would stay again, the only thing we could fault was on arrival there was a message on the desk to say 'back in 5 mins' but we waited quite a some time and eventually had to ring the phone number of the hotel to get someone to book us in.The lady who came was apologetic, but it wasn't a good look for the hotel.

We were initially put in a room that appeared to be a former conference room (Room #22). It was cavernous—a huge room with a bed in the middle. Very odd, especially for the two of us. We requested a different room, and had to pay an additional NZ$75 for a more “traditional” room. This room had a spa tub, which was nice, but the mirror reflections from the building meant the people in the building next to us had a straight view into our spa tub. The restaurant didn’t open until 8 am, which is a little late for breakfast if you’re trying to get an early start. On the positive side, coffee and milk was provided. For the money, I would not recommend this hotel.

This place needs some refreshing and care. looking very tired and a little unclean, broken coffee plunger, kettle that leaked. Staff were pleasant enough and parking good, unfortunately our room had no view of the lake, but bed was comfortable.

We found our stay at the Cove to be absolutely wonderful. The service was great, our room was serviced beautifully, the Cafe had lovely treats to eat, thanks for our stay.

Lovely location. Very comfortable bed. Have stayed twice and would stay again. Bathroom needs basic update. No towel rail and only a hook on back of bathroom door.

Very comfortable bed. Plenty of towels and toiletries. Only two niggles: better not to have shower over bath as it was quite slippery. The gate on the spa should go the other way; it's difficult to get up the steps and having to push the gate back. Toilet seat is quite a thin plastic, not really "luxury". All other facilities great like fridge, jug, cutlery and TV.

Does not match the pictures. Bedding needs to be cleaned as well as the drapes, probably carpet too . Lots of road noise. Would not recommend. Seems like they don’t care much about property.

Was a little disappointed with the bathroom. The wash basin in our room was very badly cracked and needed replacing.

I was not provided with parking and they did not confirm with us what time we are arriving

Property was clean and quiet. Parking was always available. Good location.

The room was spacious and clean, with comfortable beds. I noted an odd number of spoons and forks. The bathroom, albeit clean was rather tired and dated. There was paint that was cracked on the wall was non repaired damage to the sink and shower. There was also a lack of steam extractor fan that had obviously previously led to fire alarms if the bathroom door was left open.

Loved the size of our room.. Spacious Staff very pleasant.. need a new ironing board cover though

The hosts were wonderful and there was a nice walking trail along the water just outside the front door

Overall a nice spot to stay, centrally located in town. Had everything we needed, people are check in were nice and friendly.

Highly overpriced, not clean apartment/hotel? with very helpful stuff. The room - [ ] No table although it is an apartment with kitchen, so if you want to eat food, either you stand around microwave or? - [ ] No water tap in kitchen, so cleaning the dishes in bathroom maybe? - [ ] No cupboard to keep your clothes, only 4 clothes hanger provided and you can hang your clothes where you find a place for hangers - [ ] As there is no cupboard the ironing board stands next to the door. - [ ] No safety lock on door, not sure if the door is locked or not. The bathroom - [ ] Mold everywhere. As staff explained it is not mold only the crack covered by silicone but it is not, it is black mold in the shower and around the whole bathroom. - [ ] No extraction but there is a sign in bathroom to close the door while showering to avoid false fire alarm. - [ ] The mirror is on the window which has a view of the street. In case you switch on the light, from the street anyone can see what you do in bathroom. - [ ] The shower door opens as a 20 years old car without maintenance, so everyone will know when you start showering. People - [ ] When I told these concerns, they kindly offered me another room however when I looked at it, the same issue was there. They also offered refund if I want to leave so I guess this is not the first time when someone complained but they handled it well!

The staff were really friendly, the room was quite and clean, and the private outdoor spa pool was amazing to soak in. Good value for money over the Christmas break

We were happy with our room and the view. It was clean and has been refurbished. It was one of the smaller rooms but suited us well.The cafe has a gorgeous view of the lake, good food and coffee.Staff and cleaning staff very lovely

Good location right beside the lake. We enjoyed early morning walks along the footpath next to the lake. Followed by breakfast at the adjoined cafe

I was given a choice of 2 rooms one that stunk of cigarette smoke, had black mould around the window and had single glazing so very noisy OR 1 that had double glazed window but the bathroom was single glazed so given it's on the main road into Taupo this was very noisy. I had to then pay an additional 150 that I don't have to stay in a non smelly or noisy room.

They need to upgrade their bathroom

Was a nice stay, the room was clean and the hotel was very tidy and fancy. My only concern was that the bed we had was very uncomfortable, apart from that the place was awesome, i would definitely consider staying here again

Great place to stay

The bathroom window and mirror had a lot of mould around it. At night a type of generator or machine was going on n off n initially started like a gun shot. This continued thru the night. The fridge was very noisy. A lot of road noise even though there is double glazing. We could also hear the people next door or above us, going to the toilet during the night. Perhaps the owners should try sleeping in that room apt 18

Lovely hotel. Spa on the balcony was great. However, if the door was closed between the bedroom and the lounge, the bedroom got quite warm as the air con is only in the lounge.

Beautifully appointed room with private spa pool and view of the lake. Our room was exceptionally clean and contained everything needed for a relaxing break. This is now our 4th stay at The Cove which speaks for itself :)

A brief little view of the lake was nice, thats it. This was really disappointing, not luxury or 4 star as advertised. For almost $400 a night it would have been good to have hand soap, a heated towel rail. The decor is so dated, and a spa suite is not comdortable for a family of four, no one wants to sleep on a pull out couch. Also the bathroom is super creepy, like something out of a horror movie. Back to air bnb for us, much better value for money. $790 down the drain.
