This b and b was such a great surprise. The house is very old and we loved the history of it. The owners Terry and Lynette were so friendly and helpful, we had a bottle of Terry's homemade elderflower wine and a great breafast selection, you will not leave hungry. The rooms are well furnished and comfortable beds. We had somewhere safe to park and the bathroom although not on the same floor was beautiful.
Difficult to fault this place, it was quite unique and a real find. We were supposed to stay on our return journey as well but missed our ferry in Holland. So apologies for that.
Cozy & Convenient and a great price
The owners were delightful. Supportive and kind.
Nothing
Homely, owners are lovely
NA
Local for all I needed to see
Road next to property is very busy and could be noisy
Terry and Lynette are incredibly kind, helpful, hardworking and extremely welcoming. The house is really interesting and in a great location for visiting Kentwell Hall. The breakfast was excellent and we enjoyed using the Hot Tub as an extra. Had a great night's sleep, felt very comfortable and enjoyed talking to the owners.
Charming historic place, great hosts.
Very beautiful house
Nice place to stay
Its location, history & homely vibe
Everything about my stay from location to my room.
The owners were extremely hospitable. Nothing was too much trouble. They spent a lot of time chatting with us all throughout our stay. He had renovated the building loving and sympathetically. It is beautiful! The grounds were serene and peaceful. Loved it!
Nothing.
The word quirky is made for this B&B! It is full of furniture, cluttered and very old and typical. The building looks amazing, it does need some maintenance here and there BUT: the room was small but very nice and clean, the shared bathroom was beautiful and clean too, the hosts are amazing and they share their nice garden with you. Good selection at breakfast (see below).
When I arrived in the evening the breakfast room was a total mess, covered in laundry that needed folding. The kitchen was the same, over cluttered and medication just lying there … I would hide this from the guests … but you tend to forget this as the hosts are so nice. No cooked breakfast as the hosts had an appointment, which was a shame. Terry did give me a selection of cheeses for breakfast which made up for this. Please have a good look at the location of the B&B as it is not in Sudbury itself!
I didn't take breakfast due to time constraints. However what was on offer was excellent
Tidyness
Uwielbiam stare domy.W polsce nie mamy takich zachowanych kilkusetletnich cudów.Więc jak mam możliwość to jestem wzruszona jak teraz.Poza tyn świeża pachnąca pościel, bezpośrednie wyjście na ogród i śniadanie w pięknym otoczeniu
Ruchliwa droga zaraz obok, ale to trudno
Fabulous anything you wanted cooked was done fresh, delicious and very generous ‼️
I just loved the whole family feeling and if you did need anything you just had to ask. The one thing was difficulty in locking bedroom door 🚪.
It’s a really striking historic property. However the shed really is a shed. In these days of glamping we know how to make a temporary structure really work and this doesn’t quite. Cooked breakfast was nice and fried bread excellent. Friendly hosts. Good price for Lavenham. Shed was clean. Bed comfy enough
It’s very cluttered - not in a historic way just cluttered. Because of the clutter it’s a bit dusty. Even the garden is cluttered with nick nacks. Wi-Fi only works in main building not in room we booked and very weak phone signal. Shed we were in needs proper maintenance of sunken shower room floor which we fell into. Door is stuck open as it doesn’t fit over carpet. And there’s some ivy growing in which needs tackling. I like a homely b and b but this is like you’ve turned up unexpectedly. Be better to upgrade the real rooms and lose the rest or look at how others make temporary structures really comfortable. Shed has a fan but gets as hot as any wooden shed. No toiletries on arrival. Parking is fine but inadequate for number of rooms.
Personal service, breakfast and the property itself inside and out and also support during our visit with Barney our working cocker who also had a nice stay
road noise for one of the rooms - apart from that perfect!
Nice place and handy for the main road. Lovely breakfast and very happy to help at a great price.
The address says Sudbury but is in fact closer to Long Melford. The description should be changed.
The warmth and very genuine friendliness of Terry and Linda - nothing was too much trouble - and the quirkiness of the place: old with individual and imaginative little touches!I thought
I thought the noise from the road might be disturbing but actually we slept really well and the bed was very comfortable.
Great family atmosphere.
A quirky family run place. It's a one-off and a really nice place to stay. Good individually cooked breakfasts.
Delightful hosts. Interesting, quirky, period house. Comfortable bed. Delicious breakfast. It was a home from home experience rather than the anonymous, key-safe set-up which marks much of today's hospitality. The house had old world charm with old world service to match. Not the place for people who want everything crisp and new, but for those who like character and homeliness it is excellent. The hosts, Terry and Lynette worked very hard for us, inviting us to enjoy their garden also. Their other guests were interesting and we shared breakfast together. Everone was very happy with the service. We would have liked to stay longer, and hope to go again.
Great stay, beautiful building, fantastic hosts. Highly recommended. Thanks. Diolch yn fawr!
Charming old place and Terry is a brilliant host. Loved the breakfast! What an amazing spread it was!
We had a little problem with the lights in our room and the conteols in the shower, but we managed
Breakfast was good -
Room was rather small and no en suite
Everything.
The building is very old and looks from the outside very nice.
Once inside we had to walk though the kitchen, on the left there was not one bit of work surface that was not covered with stuff including e large bags of prescription medication I'd hate to think what would happen if a young child got their hands on any of them. Once we got into the room the first thing I noticed was how filthy the floor and quite frankly everything else was. The bed was taking up most of the room enough to walk down both sides, if you look up to the corner of the room at the end of the bed there is plant life growing into the room from the ceiling and unfortunately all the wiring for the room was surfaced mounted, twin and earth. Some of it was looped over and sticking out from the wall this is both a terrible job and I believe extremely illegal and dangerous. When we entered the bathroom the floor seemed to dip slightly but then I realized that only thing that was stopping my foot going through the floor was the lino this was in two spots near the toilet and the shower, the sink seem to be sinking into the corner and was coming away from the tiles. We would have got a different room somewhere else unfortunately it being a bank holiday weekend we did not have this option and it would have ruined our whole trip so we decided to stay as we're both quite common sense people. I tried to use the shower and did so successfully but did spend it with Fred the spider and his merry men and lots of his food above my head so I doubt it has been cleaned in a while. I will end by saying the photos on booking.com are not accurate at all and I do think they bear some responsibility for this issue I'm also going to be contacting the local council and reporting the wiring and the holes in the floor this cannot be allowed by refuse to let somebody elses holiday be possibly ruined by this nonsense. And booking.com do better...
The breakfast was excellent and plentiful and we felt very comfortable with friendly hosts and eggs from their chickens. The games room was a nice addition.
Friendly owners, shower was nice, very warm.
Room was cold, couldn't plug things in by the bed, bathroom floor flooded as the water didn't drain away, not able to use the hot tub as the room was being used for table tennis. Cooked breakfast not available due to my departure time, which was not advertised in the booking
Welcoming, picturesque, great walks on the doorstep, well stocked games room, exceptionally kind, generous & helpful host. Plentiful breakfast. On site parking. Dog friendly, comfortable bed.
We noticed the road noise but only because we live at the end of a cul de sac & are not used to it. Will happily return here. All told it is one of the nicest places we have stayed at
Exceptional people.
Nothing negative to comment about.
Location was great although a little noisy from passing traffic.
I knew we were sharing a bathroom but not we had to go down some steep winding stairs, through the dining area to the front of the property.
Great location for Lavenham , very quirky, room great hosts couldn’t get better and cooked breakfast best ever
Some work needed but old property and is what it is
The homely feel and the friendly environment were second to none. Terry and Lynn were extremely welcoming, informative and friendly too
Fabulous as always. Terry and Lynette are so welcoming. Arriving felt like coming home!
Charming old place with lots of quirks and lovely hosts - and two cats! Breakfast was well stocked, the bed was very comfortable, room warm and clean.
Nothing, it was great.
Good location, amazing breakfast and very friendly hosts.
My room didn't have a bathroom
Homely
Thought on booking.com we was outside but was in the hose which neither of us wanted thought we paid the extra for upgrading… shame Bed was like sleeping in a hole each side ….may benefit if mattress was turned
Very cosy dinning area with log burner to sit by. Breakfast was full English and very nice and there were lots of other things to help yourself to. Proprietor were really friendly and wanted to give us the best stay. Very homely feel to the place.
As the place is on a main road there is a lot of traffic noise. The owners have 2 cats which we loved but if anyone is allergic to cats, best not to stay.
Lovely homely property so much nicer in person Terry is a brilliant lovely man and his lovely wife. They couldn’t do more for you. We will definitely be back again 😌
That we wasn’t staying longer
Perfect base for a couple of days in Suffolk, with welcoming hosts and a lovely garden and games room. The cats were a wonderful bonus!
I liked the host. He was very kind. He offered me a lift free of charge.
Really old and very congested house.
The guest house is a lovely old building, the hosts were very friendly and helpful
The road is quite noisy at night
Friendly staff and beautiful aesthetic.
The historical side staying in a working house. Fascinating
Nothing to not like
It is a very cozy, warm and original house, the owners are very hospitable and kind people, I advise everyone to visit them.
I liked everything about the stay
Nothing
Terry and Lynette were super friendly and welcoming as always (we are returning customers) and their newer additions of the games room was brilliant, we loved playing darts and pool. The house was enchanting as always, one of our favourite places to visit!
Lovely friendly hosts . Great selection of breakfast and great cooked breakfast . Very comfy bed and warm , charming room .
We stayed at Bridge Street Guest House for just one night while attending a nearby wedding, but it left a lasting impression. On arrival, Terry warmly welcomed us and gave us a tour of the house and its facilities. If you love history, this place is a treasure—built in the 1100s, it still features original charm, including a stunning 12ft inglenook fireplace, a beautiful garden, and a games room with pool, air hockey, darts, and more. The highlight of our visit was returning after the wedding and sitting by the open fire with Terry and Lynn, listening to fascinating stories about the house while enjoying some homemade wine. The atmosphere was incredibly homely, the beds very comfortable, and the breakfast offered plenty of choice. We only needed to stay once—but we want to return. And we will.
Loved this quirky place the comfortable clean room and lovely people
Felt the advertisement of the hot tub was slightly misleading
Absolutely extensive choice for breakfast! The site is super friendly and quirky, unique in every way!
Lovely old historic home full of interesting curios and stories
Nothing
Friendly owner
Very expensive bed and breakfast. Busy Road, located in the middle of nowhere. A late night visit to the bathroom required getting dressed and navigating my way down a noisy wooden stairs and a few turns in the dark. Breakfast was good and the owner very pleasant but for the money I was very disappointed.
Everything was fabulous. We loved our stay and will return.
Very old property, if you like modern don't stay here.
Terry and Lynne are a lovely couple, great hosts, nothing is too much trouble
Great home, fantastic house and very good hosts, really enjoyed our short stay.
Everything was lovely, the place and the people, couldn't have asked for more.
N/A
Somehow we expected this property to be in Sudbury so when we finally ended up in the middle of nowhere we were a bit surprised. However the owners were incredibly helpful in assisting us to arrange a takeaway dinner and even bought our refreshments for us from Tesco as they were going that way. The old converted Millhouse is very interesting with all its memorabilia and nooks and crannies with a lovely garden we could sit in. It was clean and comfortable with a tasty continental breakfast but is next to a busy A road so there is a certain amount of traffic noise unless you book to stay in the family room which was very quiet as insulated by the thick old walls. Very good value for money and a perfect stopover spot.
The choice of breakfast was excellent and the breakfast room was charming and very comfortable. Terry and Linnet were lovely hosts.
The traffic unfortunately was quite busy on the road at night.
If you like quirky places to stay with characterful hosts then this is the place for you. Comfortable bed, with shared shower facilities. We were lucky that the host Lynette agreed to make our cycling group an excellent three course home cooked meal. Overnight bike storage was secure and we enjoyed the games room.
The owners have (pretty) cats so watch out if you are allergic. En suite would have been great.
Beautiful house, extremely warm welcome and a great breakfast :-)
A listed building with lots of history. The hosts were lovely, incredibly welcoming and accommodating. They looked after us very well.
Nothing.p
Left after five minutes, nothing like the photos not fit for guests, nothing nice about this place can only assume the positive reviews are made up. Will be reporting to HSE as not clean or safe. Hosts are ignoring my messages for a refund and booking.vom ignored my messages. Feel conned out of 83 quid, couldn't pay me to stay here!
Delicious
The toilet in the bathroom was not clean. It seemed like some popo was left on the seat.
Amazing place to stay. Very comfortable bed and a fantastic selection of breakfast. Limited parking areas but a lovely historic little hotel. En suite and all area open to visitors. Great friendly atmosphere and lovely couple who accommodate you and who offer information of anything going on in the areas around. Had a fantastic night and breakfast.
Everything was homely it was welcoming Terry was fantastic he couldn't do enough breakfast was great
There was nothing that we didn't like
Outstanding value for money and a very beautiful part of the country. A very friendly and helpful host.
Staff were helpful and friendly. I was lucky enough to be upgraded to a room with Bathroom. Bedroom was comfortable and clean.
Some milk in the room would have been great to have a cup of tea
It was very disappointing that what was described as a Double room-Superior-Ensuite was in fact a standalone wooden ‘shed like’ cabin in the corner of a noisy garden (water feature one side and road the other). In addition when we arrived (at the agreed time) the room was not ready and when we accessed the room there was no toilet roll or shampoo/shower gel. When we returned after an evening out there was a very strong, unpleasant sewage smell - whilst the owner acted promptly and the smell subsided we felt we had to sleep with the windows open which was far from ideal.
