Lake Karapiro Lodge

Absolutely delightful couple that run this lodge. Rooms large and spacious and view to die for. Gardens were beautifully maintained as well Great breakfast too. They helped us with local attractions and restaurants Thank you, we had a wonderful time.

Gorgeous views and sunset each night with a cozy room and knock your socks of shower! Best one we’ve encountered in New Zealand. Jets all over to relax your tired and sore body after exploring all day. Collin and Jan were delightful and I highly recommend this place! We’d love to come back here

Gorgeous view over the lake. Located about 15-20 minutes from Cambridge and 20 minutes from Hobbiton, this was a nice small B&B for our visit. The owner is very friendly and the breakfast was very good.

Felt like a second home!!

Lovely property with amazing views. Great hosts. Perfect breakfast. Close to lots of activities eg Waitomo, Tirau, Cambridge, Hobbiton but you need a vehicle.

Its a beautiful place to stay, we recommend it very much.

Very pleasant stay with friendly hosts. Perhaps it would have been nice to have a cool room on arrival on the hottest day this year, the room had not had the air conditioner turned on, so it did take a while to cool. Blankets were provided to replace the very fluffy duvet which is too heavy for summer, perhaps a lighter summer weight duvet would be better? Over all a very comfortable stay and highly recommended.

The lodge is immaculate and very clean. Period features and modern facilities means you have the best of everything. Fantastic hosts that are amazing to spend time with. Home made dinner was well worth it and made our stay even more special. Fantastic views of the Waikato and Maungatatauri Mountain.

From the initial warm welcome, to the stunning outlook, it was 100% worth the booking. The rooms were comfortable, spacious, clean, and perfect for relaxing in at the end of a busy day sightseeing. The hospitality throughout our 3 night stay was second to none, with faultless (more than substantial) breakfasts supplied at the time of our choosing each morning. A remote and secluded feeling without being far from neighbouring restaurants etc. if required. I would thoroughly recommend this lodge if you're looking to add a touch of luxury to your stay........If it's good enough for Peter Jackson, It's good enough for me. X

The setting was magnificent, the panoramic views exceptional. The property was immaculately presented with luxury touches in unexpected places. The host and hostess, Anne and Ed, could not be more pleasant and the included breakfast was particularly good. The only pity was that our stay was short and more time was needed to fully enjoy the relaxation and solace of the property.

A lovely property overlooking Lake Karapiro. Quite a lit of traffic noise at night and could hear all the plumbing from upstairs! Great hosts. Excellent location for visit to Hobbiton movie set.

Eddie and Ann are great hosts! Their home is beautiful. Our accommodations were perfect. Ann's full English breakfast was the best of both worlds - old world dining and delicious home cooking. We enjoyed our hosts, the food, and some delightful conversation.

Our experience at Lake Karapiro Lodge was excellent. Our hosts were delightful, and our accommodation fabulous. We will definitely be coming back.

We don’t typically stay at this style of accommodation, typically we use hotels. Our stay here was great, from the magnificent views from our room to the lovely breakfast and accompanying conversation. The room was large and comfortable as was the bathroom. We enjoyed the spa too. Thanks for the enjoyable stay.

Paid for dinner and treated to a beautiful view of Waikato river and the countryside. Jetted shower lovely and Belgian theme throughout the house was beautiful.

Arrived late due to car problems. Very welcoming staff. Lead us to a beautiful huge room with amazing view Breakfast was stunning in shared brekky room where lots of discussion took place, especially lots about Hobbiton.

The room was fantastic. The bathroom was very nice but unfortunately they have a problem with the mixing valve in the showers. The water would be hot then go cold for a few seconds and then get hot again. This was the same in the gentleman who was traveling with me said about his room. The hosts were fantastic and breakfast couldn’t have been better. I would go back in a minute even with the shower problem. If they fix the shower it would be a 10.

A luxury night accommodation on the end of a busy week hiking on the North Island. My wife and I could not fault it. An excellent breakfast was included. We enjoyed sitting with the owners who had many fascinating stories to tell.

Very private, spacious, comfortable and romantic room with incredible views. You can easily imagine you are in France. The bathroom and bath is just divine. The owners are so professional and friendly and the food is high quality and homely. An easy weekend escape from Auckland with much to see and do like Blue Springs, Otoroire Hot Springs, Tirau stores and Cambridge markets.

We only stayed one evening, but thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The room was well appointed and our host was incredibly friendly and helpful. The shower was incredible with multiple functions and great water pressure. In the morning, we were treated to a breakfast cooked to order at the dining table with a lovely view. We were the only couple staying there, so we also had the living area/lounge all to ourselves. We were also entertained by the friendly lodge cat! The lodge is very convenient to Hobbiton, so that made our morning stress-free. Lovely retreat!

Quiet location with lovely appointed charming room. We had the use of a shared nicely furnished lounge area with coffee making facilities . As we were the only guest at the time it turned into a very comfortable place to read. Host where very friendly and talkative but not intrusive. Overall a very enjoyable stay in the country side.

Stunning setting. Our breakfast was delicious - lots of choice. Our room was spotless and cosy. The bed linen devine. Our hosts were friendly and inviting.

Very welcoming hosts. Full spread breakfast with great conversation among guest. Room is large and comfy with a super shower that has jets everywhere. Enjoyed the pool and hot tube, the view and the conversations.

Needed accommodation as we were doing 'the evening glow worm kayak tour' with Lake District Adventures, and wanted a room close by to Horahora Road. Perfect, it couldn't have been better. What a wonderful evening and a great stay. Had a fabulous cooked breakfast in the morning and we left the Lodge just before noon to return to Auckland. No morning rush, and marvelous hospitality from lovely hosts, Ann and Eddie.

This idyllic retreat was perfect for our honeymoon. The hosts were exceptionally nice, the views were absolutely stunning. The building itself is so charming with lots of tasteful vintage charm and it was next to a farm where you could see baby sheep and cows frolic (though they didn't want to come when called). We loved seeing the rolling hills outside our door and enjoyed the tasty breakfast, coffee, and fresh fruits. The shower was a little intimidating, as it had so many different options (for surround shower) but once you got the hang of it, it allowed you to customize your perfect experience. This was definitely the highlight of our trip - and fairly close to an adorable town with amazing restaurants as well as Hobbiton!

What a lovely place to get away to. Loved the place, the old world features with the modern amenities. We needed to recharge and we certainly did here. Lovely building, lovely, rural grounds. A lovely place to take a breather and recharge. The breakfast was lovely as well. I loved the way it was set out on the table, it was fresh and beautifully presented. Thank you to the lovely proprietors for the really nice experience. We have never stayed at a B&B before but this stay has changed our thinking for future getaways.

Ann and Ed were amazing hosts, thier house has a great location overlooking Lake Karapiro, the location of the lodge is great as you can access many attractions closeby.

We had a lovely stay and home cooked breakfast -the hilltop Lodge has a surperb view. A large comfortable room with ajoining lounge room.
