Lovely apartments, with a great range of pools to choose from. The complex is right next to a small Souk and supermarket, which made it really convenient for us. Location is beautiful, on a private beach opposite the mosque, but the taxi ride to the centre of Abu Dhabi is around AED80 each way. Staff were very helpful and rooms were lovely. We stayed with our three children, aged 7, 12 and 14, and they loved the freedom to roam the complex and the general safety of Abu Dhabi.
Excellent hotel
Very pleasant stay with the family at Shangri-La
Special regular welcome coffee and dates and frienldly staff. Variety of eating places and good food
Great very well organised, staff very helpful Room kept super clean and well presented
Great stay in every aspect!
The furniture was below the average And the room lighting was old and bad.
This was a phenomanal hotel that is great for families. We booked a 2 bedroom hotel apt that was able to have all 6 of us in a very comfortable fashion. Amenities include beach facilities, water sports and commection to the main hotel and shops and restaurants in the area. Highly recommended for families.
There was an absurd bridge to cross every time to enter the room. The staff were friendly but not helpful. No hose in bathrooms although this is common in an Arabic country. The showerbox was hard to use and leaked water. The coffee in the room was just Nescafe. The kitchen was good and the pool was OK. I won’t stay here again.
Alle faciliteiten aanwezig, veel zwembaden/strandjes, genoeg privacy & zeer ruime keuze aan eetgelegenheden
Lovely apartment in nice complex near restaurants. Very helpful service
Great accommodation with excellent staff. Zen and Wai on front desk where amazing with there personal touch. The residence is separate from the hotel but within a short walk. Much quieter than the rest of the complex but that was how we wanted it.... Far enough away from central city but still within a short taxi drive to airport, downtown Abu Dhabi and Yaz where the Formula 1 track is located. Will definitely be going back .....
Six night stay in the wonderful Shangri la residences. Private beach access on the doorstep. Staff very attentive. Easy to use the facilities around the property. Highly recommended.
My rooms was right next to a nice pool and the beach, the rooms were very clean and specious, the hotel facilities are above five stars, including the electric carts and abra boat that transport you between the different parts of the hotel, the spa was amazing and relaxing, the beach and various pools were great. My family was really really happy during the few days we spent there.
The standard of Shangri-La normally is good, But this hotel is the exception. Avoid to stay at the residences ( they are not well maintained and the quality is low), skip the breakfasts buffet, you will be regret.
The service and staff were amazing. Special mention to April,YOunus and Kapila. Our son was well looked after too. Amazing views of the mosque and spacious apartment with good facilities.
The residences were very quiet on a Saturday - I only saw one other family while there. The pool was nice - and deserted. The room was great - very spacious, and with all amenities.
excellent service and facility
This is the 'residences' / hotel apartment part of the Shangri-la Hotel, so it's not directly in the hotel itself, but next to it. Regardless, it's a great facility with very spacious rooms of 5-star quality in every aspect. The rooms are well furnished to a 5-star standard with a living room, kitchen and bathroom. I had a spacious balcony with a sea view. The balcony has a nice lounger, so it's nice to actually relax on the balcony and make use it of it. The residences are located between the Trader's Hotel, the Shangri-La Hotel and the Souq Qaryat Al Beri. The Souq has a great selection of a dozen restaurants.
We only stayed overnight, very comfortable bed & pillows, excellent shower and facilities.
Hotel is fine and close to a small mall and the shangri la hotel which you can go to both using club cars or a small boat in a water canal (free). I did not like the hotel because it is a residrnce as there is no vallet parking, and it feels like you are home because you do not enter into the typical hotel lobby and see guests and all
THis was our second stay at The hotel and our experience surpassed the first time. Quite excellent service, especially for families with young children. A special Thanks to Juliane and her team who made it a great Eid break for us.
Outstanding hotel. This is the third time we have stayed in the Shangri-La residence - it is perfect for family holidays since the rooms are quiet and there is a private beach and swimming pool which are used infrequently so you feel like you have the place to yourselves. Rooms excellent and very well equipped - and we got a free upgrade to a larger appartment this time. International buffet in hotel is outstanding and both the adults and children love it (excellent selection of dishes and children under 6 eat free and under 12 half price). Hotel facilities are outstanding and staff are very attentive and friendly. The perfect family hotel which allows some luxury for the parents and a good time for the kids.
The best staff ever experienced
Its nice residents in a huge hotel, it took me more than 10 min to find the place because of a small sign which will be batter to change it with bigger signs.
We had a phenomenal stay at this hotel. Since there were 4 girls, we opted for the Shangri-La Residences (2 bedroom apartment). The apartment was modern and spacious. There was a nice balcony where we ate our meals and hung out more than in the living room itself! Everything in the hotel was top of the line, the buffet style breakfast, the main infinity pool as well as the private pools in the Residences. The service was great and if anything was needed the staff was prompt and helpful. We also had a nice time at the Pearls and Caviar lounge located on the property (so much so that we went two nights in a row!). The hotel is conveniently located next door to the Abu Dhabi Souk that not only has great shopping but also several restaurants and bars/nightclubs. The hotel is also a short cabride to the Sheikh Zayed mosque and no more than 15-20 minutes to the Corniche and other areas via taxi depending on traffic. I have never stayed in a Shangri-La hotel before this visit and now it has moved quickly to the top of my list of chains to consider when traveling. Wonderful experience!
ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT !!!
Really nice hotel, right in the middle of everything, 15 min drive at most for all the main attractions of Abu Dhabi, the souk was a few minutes walk and the prices were local prices not the usual holiday rip off, friendly staff and a lovely room ( we stayed in the residences), the food was good, not amazing but solid. The only downer was the main pool wasn't as great as most hotels at this level, still we had a great time, thanks in no small part to the Shang gri la.
Nice experience for a total relax on the beach. Service was very good and I really had my relax.
Such a nice alternative to the other hotel options in Abu Dhabi. Serene and lovely....
Just returned from a fantastic family holiday staying in a 2 bedroom apartment.. the residences were great to give you the flexibility of eating away or at home. It had 2 bedrooms 2 bathrooms. Fully serviced everyday by the housekeeper just as the shangri la hotel. We made good use of the balcony which had direct views of the pool beach and of the river across with direct views of mosque and Ritz Carlton hotel. EAch residency has its own pool and at times we were the only ones in it. Superb service from the pool attendants who even carried the towels for you. They really concentrated on your comfort providing water in ice boxes. There is a souk mall with resturants and supermarket 500 yards away and a lovely beach walkway which everyone used during day and evening. Only downside was it was very pricey to eat at hotel. Family of 4 breakfast 85 GBP p e r day . We had brunch in our apartment and order room service . Again very pricey . Burger and chips 20 GBP. The taxis are very cheap and you can take a cab to several shopping malls and eat at the food courts which offer great variety and good quality meals at very reasonable prices. The shangri la is the Best place to unwind and be stress free. . If you like the quiet life this is the place to come. .
Excellent hotel overall. Staff very helpful and conscientious. Particular praise to Club Level staff whom collectively couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was enjoyable.
We stayed in the Shangri-la residence. Food was too expensive and were served in plastic containers in the room. One of the nights found ants all over our bedroom dressing table. Couldn't get in touch with the manager, also had my kids in the room. No one there to assist us properly.
Don't expect Wow! type of luxury when you first see the room. This is a well-designed, understated kind of place, with everything you need for a shorter to medium-term stay. We had a studio apartment, with adequately appointed kitchen, comfortable seating area and large balcony (unfortunately not on the sunny side - good in the summer, not so good for us in the winter). The bed was comfortable and a proper king size. The bathroom was just big enough, and the shower might even be tight if you are big (we are not). As we were on the third floor, we had plenty light from the outside, and a good view over the 'Grand Canal' to the Ritz Carlton. It's a pleasant walk along the beach promenade to the souk, with its shops, restaurants, small supermarket, and cafés. On the way, you pass a couple of guest swimming pools, which although not very deep, are pleasant enough if you want to lounge at the pool. You have access to the Shangri La hotel itself, which has several restaurants and bars, plus a larger pool with pool bar facing west towards the grand mosque over the water. The wifi internet connection is surprisingly fast (it handled two laptops on skype in a conference call on skype with family at home without a stutter), and we assume the ethernet connection is even better, although we never used it.

Rooms are dated. Service is super slow. The good thjng is that the room is spacious.
Six night stay first week of November. Staying in studio apartment serviced daily by housekeeping. Very attentive staff throughout the whole property. Very welcoming from arrival to departure. Delightfully quiet whilst we were there, had the pristine beach to ourselves for 2 days. No problem being away from the main hustle of Abu Dhabi, it's 20 minutes in a taxi which are cheap and reliable . Happy to recommend the hotel time and time again.
Amazing and well serviced.Luxurious and highest levewl of attention to detail.
Very nice clean. Family is recommended try. We all loved it.
We stayed in the residences which were perfect with a toddler, great baby pools and easy access to the souk for some food and bits and pieces. Would stay again
we stayed in one bed room apartment. apartment was very clean but nothing extraordinary as it was very normal. we stayed in July and weather was extremely hot reaching 50 degree. in the residence there is no much facilities like spa, etc, so we have to either walk long distance to main shangrila hotel or order a club car which comes in five minutes. beach was good and there is small shopping complex and several excellent restaurant in the complex. the apartment view overlooks to garden and other rooms ( not overlooking beach) since we have to go out side in hot area in order to reach other facilities, we didn't use the facilities in our 4 days stay. if any body plans to come in hot weather , the apartment is not suggested due to lack of facilities as it is mainly residence.
We stayed for 2 nights and it was wonderful. The staff was amazing and went above and beyond to make our stay great. They discovered it was my husband's birthday and even produced a delicious dessert for us and sang happy birthday. We will definitely visit here again.
Overnight stay en route back to Ireland and was best decision ever, especially with kids. Service was excellent with our every need catered for - staff couldn't have been more professional or friendly. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Only regret was not staying longer.
This is an excellent hotel, and of the dozens I've stayed in over the last year, in the top 3.Excellent staff and service is attentive, without being over-bearing. Facilities are superb and quality provided is all round superb. It is not central to Abu Dhabi, but worth the distance, and has a beautiful view of the Grand Mosque
We booked an apartment for a long weekend. The apartment was spotless on arrival. It was located on the ground floor which was ideal for our18 month old to get a bit of outdoor space. We also had direct access to the pool from our apartment.
Ever so slightly dated.
So so great to book the residences as you get all the facilities of the hotel but with the convenience of your own pool and beach areas. As well as that, the residences were perfect for a family of 4 or 5 with own kitchen, laundry, lounge etc. Cheaper and much more spacious and self contained than interconnecting rooms. Loved the water and grand mosque views. so many restaurants to choose from in the Souk as well as a supermarket to stock up on food for self catering and of course there is also the excellent room service with a dining table and a balcony table to eat it on.
This hotel exceeded my expectations, it was great for a family and we loved the food, excellent service and lovely pools. Will be back
Lovely stay in the apartment. Every thing was available. There were restaurants and a supermarket in the Souk near by. Just 30 meters or so from the residence.
Totally Satisfied ,, I wish if you had been added breakfast option in custody
