This property is beautiful, centered around a lush tranquil garden. We stayed at three Tear Drop properties on our stay ( not planned ) and they all do the same things well. Colonial style housing, incredible grounds where can flop and drop, a library - you feel like your in someone fabulous home, great service and big comfortable rooms. Dinner and bfast were delicious and they make a fantastic cocktail. Chic and fab - book it !!

A beautiful hotel that's conveniently close to the airport but deserves more than just an overnight stay. The staff were incredibly attentive, the food was excellent, and the house and gardens are immaculate. It was a wonderful place to unwind after travelling, and I'll definitely stay here again the next time I'm in Colombo.

Property was like a hidden oasis. We used it as a stopover coming back to Australia. Close to the Airport ($35 transfer which was reasonable) but amazing rooms, food, pool and grounds.

It’s in a great location for arrival and departure, and it’s a lovely hotel in any case. Great rooms, great staff, great pool.

Perfect soft landing first night for an arrival to Sri Lanka. Colonial design and architecture was stunning, the bathroom was the best of the whole trip , enormous! Breakfast, staff and all transfer arrangements exceeded my expectations.

Gorgeous charming property, that felt luxurious but also cosy

A beautiful manor house with elegant colonial architecture, set amidst lush green gardens. The room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were welcoming, attentive, and always willing to assist. Many thanks to all of them for making our stay enjoyable.

There were some water pressure issues.

A return visit to this beautiful hotel - this time as a layover en route from Europe to Australia. We received gracious hospitality, the room was spacious and very quiet, the garden filled with bird-life to watch from the traditional veranda. Staff are attentive, and food delicious. Highly recommend for a soft landing/departure from Sri Lanka. I'll be keeping out my eye for yoga retreats in the new shala, too!

An absolutely beautiful place - an oasis of calm. Wonderful interiors and beautiful gardens and pool. Staff were friendly and attentive. Close to the airport so a perfect place to spend our last night.

It’s a beautiful and peaceful hotel to arrive to from after a long plane journey. The staff are friendly and the food was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed the sound bath in the early evening in the meditation room.

The quality of the mattress was fine. But not luxury like all other parameters of the hotel.

Great hotel only 20 minutes from Colombo airport. Lovely grounds and nice swimming pool area. Great rooms, and lovely dining options in the hotel. Also loved the yoga class. Just what we needed.

It ticks all boxes for a first day in Sri Lanka or for a few days at the end as it’s so very close to the airport yet a million miles away. Food excellent, staff wonderful and so chilled out with some lovely touches. Nice pillows and bedding too.

We were in room 21 and I wish we had a little more privacy. There’s no privacy blind so you have to keep the main blind closed due to the rooms location. This meant the room was lacking in natural light. Something they could think about is adding a lamp to the sitting area to create a little more ambiance. The light is quite stark in this area. Only an observation.

Large rooms, great social hour, relaxing grounds with games to play everywhere. Staff were excellent and spa was perfect treat before a flight

Pool was in the shade and didn’t get much sun at all during the day which made it very cold and not a relaxing dip. More a cold plunge!

Air conditioning was very noisy and leaked all over our luggage. The twin beds were very narrow. In the morning there was no water for showers (due to a burst pipe.)

Die Anlage ist weitläufig, sehr ruhig und wunderschön gepflegt. Der grosse Pool lädt zum Entspannen ein und macht den Aufenthalt perfekt. Insgesamt war es ein rundum fantastischer Aufenthalt.

Alles war in Ordnung, es gab nichts zu beanstanden.

Very quiet calm, peaceful and relaxing

One of the loveliest properties we’ve stayed at. It transported us back in time! The food was excellent, the staff very helpful and friendly!

What did I like about the property? Well it’s very tranquil and peaceful. The staff are very welcoming. They only have maybe 20 rooms which means it’s very calm. The hotel as a hole is way nicer than it probably looks like in the listing photos the rooms are incredible the bathrooms amazing the beds are really really comfortable. We visited as the very first stop of our honeymoon and they also upgraded as which was really kind of them the staff and their service was simply perfect. They even made us a big cake to congratulate on our marriage when we dined there for dinner. It also looked like the perfect place to go get some spa treatments. We just didn’t have the time whilst we were there and our flying visit. It seems very tranquil if you’re looking for somewhere to escape for a few days as a bit of a wellness centre look no further.

Our stay at The Wallawwa was truly beyond imagination, magical from beginning to end. From the moment we arrived, we felt incredibly welcome thanks to the wonderfully kind and friendly staff whose warmth and hospitality made our stay unforgettable. Dinner in the evening was a culinary delight, refined flavors, beautifully presented, and prepared with so much care. The breakfast the following morning was equally delightful: fresh, varied, and the perfect start to the day. The rooms and surroundings are even more stunning in real life than the photos suggest, in fact, almost too good to be true. The moment you step into the hotel, you experience its unique charm and serene atmosphere, something no picture can truly capture. On top of that, the location is ideal: just a short drive from the airport, making it the perfect place to either start or end your journey through Sri Lanka. Fourth time there and I can't wait to return. The hotel is amazing! We love averything about it, huge rooms beautifully appointed, enormous bathrooms. Colonial feel, I strongly recommend the SPA, the restaurant (delicious Sri Lankan currys), lovely breakfasts and amazingly beautiful pool. All the staff is lovely and very professional. It's luxury in all its simplicity.

Absolutely beautiful place with incredibly kind staff and manager. A real haven for relaxation and brilliantly close to the airport yet so peaceful. We loved our tour of the vegetable gardens, the amazing pool and the children loved the kite making. The food was also delicious and all of the people working there were wonderful. We loved it and would love to come back, thank you for a wonderful stay!

Lovely older style colonial boutique hotel close to airport and good as a stopover from Colombo.

Could do with a refresh and had digging going on near the pool so it was noisy and smelt a bit. Food was not nearly as good as nine acres sister property. Only had one spa beautician on.

Stunning historic Mena house in a perfect location between Colombo and Colombo airport. The hotel is a true gem. Local cuisine is served at the restaurant ( amazing ) and the swimming pool is a great place to relax and unwind. Had one of the best massages of my life at the hotel spa ! I truly recommend it!

What was once the residence of the Head Chieftain of Galle has been restored to a pristine condition and offers views on all sides on lush greenery. The rooms have beautiful volumes with natural light openings and connections with the lawn on one side and the inner pond on the other. Furniture and design are artfully true to the historical character of the site. Magnificent indoor pond surrounded by the unique inwards facing tiled roof. Service is impeccable from Mr Dinesh at the reception to Chandrakumar at dinner and Mr Lishant for breakfast. Glorious menu doing justice to local ingredients and wines spanning from New Zealand to France. The swimming pool surrounded by flowers and canopy is the perfect chilling spot prior to a happy hour centred around the local spirits. An unmistakable success by Teardrop!

The beautiful garden, the pool, the food, the kind service, the historic architecture.

The room needed a little sprucing up….maintenance and paint!

An absolutely exceptional hotel. Can’t fault it in any way. Truly beautiful hotel, staff are impeccable, spa is amazing and good is outstanding.

Location was perfect for the last two days of our 2 week long trip in Sri Lanka. A great place to chill and do yoga, have exceptional massages, eat the most delicious food before your long flight home. There is nothing much to see in the very local area so it really is a place to 'land' and settle either when you arrive in Colombo Airport or are leaving from it.
