Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Really good views and music. Friendly staff except cleaning lady.
Very easy process to check in convenient historical place beautiful views definitely go back
Tito is the man give the guy a raise!
Convenient walkable great staff great view clean.
Location and amazing views.
The hotel definitely needs maintenance.
The hotel view was nice, but they gave me a room with the toilet block.. patio door lock had to be changed and they say they have wifi.. never worked in the room .. over all the staff was quite pleasant.
This is a very old hotel/property, needs severe renovation. Locals might enjoy it for its antique look but this place would not be a comfortable stay for international folks. The room was very outdated. The furniture rickety and old, dusty looking. The bathroom was below average needing an upgrade on all fixtures. The shower head was missing and water would not reach a hot temperature. The fridge barely stayed closed. We spent one night only and moved to another place the next day. The view overlooking the ocean from the hotel is the only good thing about this place.
Very nice. Staff at front desk were wonderful
love archtecture beach near by nice beds friendly staff
I love my stay at this Hotel, confortable, close to everything in town, free parking, big rooms with nice ocean view, good and happy staff, I will do it again.
Old but very nice Victorian style hotel. Quiet and fantastic view of sea. Really great sunsets watching from the property. Friendly and helpful stuff.
Nice area, pleasant staff, ocean access
What a beautiful, quiet, well kept property. Its located 5 to 10 minutes from everything you need in Sosua, and the staff is unmatched! Free breakfast made FRESH every morning with fruit and a smile. It's impossible to beat the sunset view from any room at the Piergiorgio since its located right on the edge of the island. I recommend the Piergiorgio to ANYONE who wants an amazing, safe, and accommodating stay.
This place was very old and out dated, you may get a beautiful view but I wouldn’t recommend staying here. I asked for an iron and they didn’t even have on the property that worked. The bathroom was so old and again out dated that shower had a hose like sprayer, it felt like gardening hose hit my body. They charged each time you get a visitor something like $2.00. The breakfast was very nice and the staff were fine. Over all this is one place I would never recommend or stay and again.. Get some paint, some new drapes, new bedding, furniture, bathroom remodeling and you can have fantastic Place.
Good
Is a family own business.
The hotel is a lot more run down than the pictures suggest, however it was very clean and the hotel staff were very kind. You might want to bring your own towels because they have a shortage. The onsite restaurant is absolutely terrible. Food is overpriced and not cooked as described on the menu. Eating at the restaurant was my biggest regret on this trip. Excellent views also. Pool area was a bit dirty but it was also very busy with people at the time.
The Piergiorgio is a beautiful hotel in an incredible location! The hotel is older but there were workmen there cleaning and painting the whole time we were there. Yes, the mattresses are firm but I found them to be very comfortable. The sheets and bedding are not new, but they were clean. The grounds are meticulously kept, and the pool is very clean. Many of the staff have limited English but they were always friendly and helpful. There are plenty of breakfast choices and most are served with fresh fruit. The staircase and the hotel entrance are beautiful. The hotel is located on the cliffs overlooking the ocean and offers incredible views. There is a short 7-to-10-minute walk to the beach or the town. A car is not necessary. If you are going to Sosua, this is the place to stay! The price is very reasonable. I loved it!
I enjoyed the location of the property, the staff were courtesy and friendly.
I had an ocean front view and it was amazing! The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. There were a few glitches upon arrival, however the hotel staff promptly corrected each one. Thank you for a lovely visit!
Ive stayed in little quaint places before but this is the worst experience Ive ever had. Property was under construction and has a lot of things that need upkeep. The toilet stopped working. Beware that they do not take cards, although it says so online, claiming the machine doesnt work and you have to pay in cash. I'm not sure why they dont just mention that. Food in restaurant was just okay, but cats are running around begging. I understand why they are there but Im allergic and also dont like animals around while I eat. We ended up cutting our stay short unfortunately. It has potential but I really dont like the dishonesty about payment methods.
Good budget hotel
Good hotel but it seems a bit dirty and old
Although this property is dated, they are slowly repairing things. Overall, my husband and I enjoy staying there because the staff is very nice and the view is spectacular. The winding staircase when you first walk in is a work of art!
I really like the staff there both in the hotel and in the restaurant. Yes, the property is old and could use some updating, but overall it is beautiful. You can’t beat the view from the property.
It was a beautiful older property, need to upgrade the locks on room doors. Somewhat hard to unlock at times
is a hotel with a lot of potential !! it need a lot of improvements
I liked that the property is close to the beaches
The Piergiorgio Staff was particularly kind and friendly. The hotel is extremely well located with only a short walk to the beach and local shops and restaurants. I had a great time and I would recommend it to those looking for an inexpensive, fun, getaway. 😊
Un lugar tranquilo y acogedor
It's always a happy calm place to be....
The property wonderful the view to the Ocean I love it , the place very nice and clean. Small distance to the beach. Just the service can be better.
The room was dirty broken curtains and water bugs in the room and bathroom
The property is outdated. However, it has a lot of potential. The location is perfect!!! The view of the ocean absolutely is worth staying here. I would stay again. My only recommendation is to update the rooms and lobby. Maybe switch up the breakfast a little.
I enjoyed the ocean views. I appreciated the proximity to local dining and nightlife. The property was a bit older looking and wasn't modernized at all. The bathroom and bedroom area all had older fixtures and bedding.
Clean
Piergiorgio was probably lovely back in the day but is incredibly run down and in need of an upgrade.
The hotel room was clean quiet The staff were very helpful and the area nice
Great one night stay and would go again
I switched 3 different rooms because the curtains, pillows, sheets, bathroom sink was covered in mold! Very small rooms, no phones! finally, the third room was OK. My kids were afraid to take a shower. The locks on the door was very flimsy.
Balcony was not accessible, beds very hard and no hot water for shower.
What a dump!! Nice location with views, but poorly maintained, dirty, shower was a dribble, bed like sleeping on a board, mediocre food, terrible service, very noisy all day and late into the night, and staff that really don’t care. I asked to get my room changed twice and was ignored. You can do better for less, the pictures don’t match the dilapidated condition of the property. Avoid this.
My AC unit broke several times on a 4 night stay. We had to move to a lower grade room with zero compensation due to this. The Hotel staff played music until 230 AM despite telling us quite hours start at 10pm. The breakfast was late, slow and cold when they did the continental style. The location is nice but the building is run down and in need of repair. I would never be able to recommend this place and will never stay again.
ABSOLUTELY AWFUL - DO NOT STAY HERE! We booked here last minute because of a flight cancellation. Our room was disgusting and smelled of urine. I could not even let the kids use the blankets in the room they were so vile. The front desk staff were friendly and kind - only positive. It is really sad....It looks like it could be a really magnificent hotel - great location - beautiful architecture but it is in horrible condition. Also, they charged us an extra $70 for my three children to stay (food fee) even though I told them that we would not be there in the morning for breakfast.
Good Time good place
Hard beds cant sleep horroble tv couldnt watch most of the time young man at night was very helpful in getting tv to occasionally work older lady for breakfast with glasses seems to have attitude issues but place was nice
Close enough to the action to walk there in 10 min. Far enough away to be peaceful and quiet
It’s very close to everything
The structure is remarkably aged and has not been properly maintained. There are numerous cracks in the infrastructure, along with numerous leaks during rainy conditions.
Excellent
Our room had smudges of multiple unknown things on the wall. There were cobwebs in the shower and the toilet seat wasn’t attached to the toilet. The doors all stuck and the French door glass had white paint all over it. It may have been a nice property at one time but is in need of some significant upkeep to make it right.
The management and workers are the best. My second home
Water dripping from ceiling, bathroom fixtures are very old
The majority of the in the reception staff were not friendly or courteous. The cleaning lady Maribel was very friendly and very attentive. The food was good. There's no phones in the rooms to call the restaurant or the receptionist to ask about anything or to order food. You have to walk down to the lobby or restaurant to place your order. No microwave in the room and they only provided water and coffee in the room the first day. The hotel rooms and the majority of the building are in need of upgrades and a lot of repairs. The view to the ocean from my room and from the restaurant and the patio/ terrace areas are wonderful.
Dirty
close to the beach''
The ocean view is majestic. The staff is very polite and very helpful.
I have stayed at that hotel twice already and was planning to stay again. However, given that the staff was very unfriendly to say the least to me bringing guests, I decided to get from them in writing that guests are ok. So, on August 7, I have emailed to the hotel through Expedia about their guest policy. The reply I got today, August 27. In Spanish. In it, the person states that I have to pay for each guest, and if they stay overnight, I have to pay an extra night charge. This is a complete BS. The staff before informed me that since I have booked the room for two guests, no additional charges are needed. Now, they are changing their policy. Oh well, I actually liked the hotel even with their rude staff. But I guess I will not stay there anymore
Very beautiful place, great location.
Good
Antique but clean and quiet convenient location to all great staff
Staff very professional and friendly
It’s an older property. May not take the love of my life there but it’ll do for a few days. There’s a gym nearby, PLATINUM GYM, and plenty of restaurants. Most of the food is the same. Walking distance to ALICIA and SOSUA BEACH
Its like a motel got there. They said did not have a reservation they did find it but it looks better in the picture but it not i will not go there again did it for the night but did not like
Quiet, safe, clean, walkable. Will stay again.
Right on water so beautiful location. No amenities. Food not good. Room is terrible. Facility is terrible. Old, outdated place. Needa major repairs and upgrade.
Great place
Nice views of the water
It needs renovations. Need to be modernized. Put phones in the rooms and proper locks on the doors.
This property is in disrepair. Broken freezer. Menu items not available. A 10 minute walk to get to the beach. Only 6 recliners around the pool. The best part of the hotel were the pruned hedges.
I must say, the number of positive reviews gave me confidence to book a week stay at this hotel. Upon arrival, my first impression of the hotel was unpleasant. The place is in desperate need of repair, the room was no better. Furniture was outdated, bathroom fixtures were broken, the endless disturbance from a leaky shower head, leaky roof whenever it rained…. The list goes on. Walk out to the terraces to view the ocean, you’ll see half of them have been closed from collapse. This place drove me away only to return to spend the night. Never again will I stay at this dreadful place.
Terrible restaurant! A 5 page where nothing on pages 3 and 4 were available. They couldn't make a mojito because they ran out of mint. I ordered a gin and tonic. They served gin and soda. They couldn't make a cheeseburger or club sandwich as they ran out of it too. I finally ordered a shrimp cocktail which was mediocre and my friend had carpaccio which was fine. Beautiful views but we couldn't get out of there fast enough. Very disappointing as I had been a few years ago and found it to be a romantic atmosphere.
The staff was great!
Rooms, bathroom must be updated
The staff friendly
Maintenance is nonexistent and it has numerous hazards as it sits on a steep cliff. Additionally, with the exception of the front desk staff and one female waitress the staff are not welcoming at all. One male staffer in the restaurant openly said he refused to serve us because I forgot to tip him the previous night. This place is nasty and has terrible service. It is an accident waiting to happen. I cut my stay short a day because it was terrible.
Staff was great - they spoke little English an we little spanish. Room ok. Restaurant and food fantastic. Needs a lot of work to repair areas damaged by waves. Bushes need trimming / removal. Power cleaning entire public area necessary. Paint/whitewash also needed. Wonderful views from some areas. Could be much greater destination than current.
The property located on a cliff overlooking the ocean. Which provides a great view. However, the property is rundown, in disrepair, and downright dangerous. The furniture in the room was old, I found hair on my bed when I checked in, and the shower stall dripped water constantly.
Very safe, clean, older facility, needs some tender loving care. What you might expect in Sosua for the price. Great location and terrific views.
Hotel has issues with maintenance and supine staff. However, the view is great, A/C is powerful, beds are pretty comfortable. I will definitely stay again. P.S. when the ask 100 pesos for the guest, just say no. They will take that answer.
Love the Victorian decor. Staff was friendly and helpful. Quiet and relaxing
Stay away, at check in walked into a third floor flooded room, next room had no TV service. Asked to be changed to an Ocean view as originally requested, and was told a big “maybe” After one day in town realizing it was all a mess, I had enough., flew and checked in Dec 22, flew back home in time to save my Vacation Dec 24. Checking out they would not even give me a receipt of checking at 8:00 am Dec24. Just a “don’t expect a refund” I’m 62 now and expect to retire and travel, I’m going to change so this will not happen again. AGAIN, I paid $2,500 and had to leave, my choice, be careful with yours.
Don’t let children walk around property unattended steep cliffs
A nice quiet place to stay, simple with a wonderful staff.
This hotel does not deserve a star I stayed here several times and every time seems to get worse… upkeep is disgusting, rooms are filthy, outdated and uncomfortable. Never again steer clear
This place must’ve been in its splendor 40 years ago. But the lack of maintenance is seen on the unsafe balconies and many off limits areas. The restrooms need a total renovation. They had pink toilets lol. Worst thing was that tjere were power outages all night. Positive thing was the food- it was good and plenty. The drinks were mediocre. The one in charge Oscar, was the most pleasent staff.
This was no the hotel for me it was not up to standards Very Very old place
The rooms and quality were not maintained. I've been staying here for years and this is the worse I have seen. Moved rooms 3 times for various reasons. Disappointing.
The beds were very uncomfortable, tv was not working , breakfast was supposed to be buffet but the bought a short list of what i could choose from , staff was not friendly . It felt like i slept on a box with no mattress. Thank God i was only there for 1 night. I will not go back and would not recommend
First il start with the staff, very friendly and good hospitality. But once i was there i requested an iron which they had to go fijd one and afrer 2 hours i came down and it was on the counter and not delivered to the room which they said. The hotel has great views of the ocean but the grounds and rooms are extremely dated and uninformed. Cabinet doors in my room were broken and the decor was from a thrift shop. The halls were dark with no light at night and looked like a horror ghost movie. The bathrooms water pressure was very low and you had to wait a while afrer flushing the toilet for the sink or shower pressure to be good enough to use.
Beautiful view of the Ocean. Located perfectly between beach and shops.
It was a nice location, but definitely run down. You can tell the owner has passed this property down to his son and his son has not cared for it since … A shame for such a neat location.
Really nice people, very accommodating, very laid-back and chill place
Smelly room, durty bathroom, dusty bed with ants, old furniture, door dont lock, bad airconditioner. Unlimited breadfast... yeah righ, They only served your food once. Such of an expensive prices for a wack service!!
My room was nice and cozy, good air conditioner, receptionist are very welcoming and open minded. The view is breathtaking especially on sunset.
They didn't have the room we booked available, we requested a superior room with an ocean view with 2 queen beds, and they only had rooms with 1 king bed, so we had to take a standard room that had 2 beds. The food is good, but the service is slow.
I was really expecting more, the room was outdated the beds were very hard, the wifi in the room was not working. The food was decent not great but not bad.
Victorian style hotel, great character, could use a bit of paint here & there but views are amazing & proximity to Playa Sosua & Playa Alicia us price is not to be beat!
I'm an American from Ohio who made my fourth visit to Sosua in 6 months to visit my girlfriend. She and I stayed at the Piergiorgio Palace Hotel for two nights on May 24-25th 2023. If you're an American comparing any hotel in Sosua to any hotel in America, that is not fair. You simply won't find luxury. This was the fourth hotel I've stayed at in Sosua and I will only compare it to them. This hotel appears to be very old. I've seen different dates online that suggest this hotel is about 25 years old. I would of thought at least double that age if not possibly more than triple that age. It's vintage appearance is what gives it character and charm. By FAR, this hotel of the four I have stayed at in Sosua, has a WOW factor. From the appearance of the front of the hotel to the huge open lobby and spiral staircase that goes I believe 3 stories to the pretty pool area to the absolute breath taking view from the outdoor restaurant and observation area nearby and from the outside of the ocean side rooms. The first night we stayed in an ocean side room. The room had a grandma's house feel to it. Sadly we only stayed in that room one night as whoever stayed on the third floor above us had an overflowing toilet that leaked down into our bathroom resulting in an unbearable odor. From the sounds of it, that wasn't the first time that room experienced that. The shower and bathroom were nice and big in that room. When we moved we were moved to a room on the second floor of the inside area. This particular room had a balcony and a nice view over looking the pool area with the ocean view in the far background. This bathroom was not as large but did have a bidet that the first room did not. I preferred the longer walk to the first room than the stair climb of the second room. The view from the first room couldn't be beat so too bad we were unable to stay there. The free breakfast was about equal to the other three hotels I've stayed at in Sosua. However, the pizza at the Piergiorgio Palace hotel was by far the best pizza I've had in all of the Dominican Republic. Nice wood fired pizza that I would actually purchase in America. I will try another hotel my next stay, but I will definitely be back for the pizza. Although I felt safe, it had minimal security and is located at a dead end of a long dark quiet street. Everything to enjoy in Sosua is within walking distance, but a little further than the other hotels. We walked the dim lit street on the way back and again felt safe. However, I wouldn't want my lady to make that walk alone. Although I did witness bushes being trimmed during our stay and the pool grounds is beautiful, this hotel is a bit warn down as an abandoned pool table sits out in the elements, a second swimming pool looks to have been out of order for over a decade, the lights climbing the large staircase didn't work at night, and years of wear and tear and neglect make it unsafe for children and drunken idiots who want to mess around out near the ledge looking down into the ocean. As long as you're responsible and careful near the ledges you will be fine. In conclusion, I'm giving this place 5 stars which is what I gave the other three hotels. I would happily stay here again. If you're looking for a unique place to stay that has the absolute best view you will find in all of Sosua as well as the best pizza, a nice swimming pool and is also the most quiet place you will find in this city. Then please give Piergiorgio Palace hotel a try.
